It's Interesting When People Die | Sacred Symbols, Episode 426

It's finally time! Rockstar has revealed an in-depth look at Grand Theft Auto VI for the first time, with tons of gameplay, details, and more that so many tens of millions of fans have been hungry for. We discuss all we saw and what we loved and didn't, along with in-depth coverage of the hullabaloo surrounding the game's preview cycle and price. Colin even takes some time to educate the masses that GTAVI at $80 is nearly twice as affordable as GTA1 was at $50, based simply on average incomes and not at all adjusting for dreaded inflation (so next time someone tells you pay hasn't kept up with the increase in game pricing, now you know they're unapologetically lying). Other news this week includes fresh rumors of electronics tariffs in America, booming Helldivers 2 sales, a ton of Gamescom ONL fodder (including Witcher 3 Remastered, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Stage Tour, Exodus, Mega Man: Dual Overdrive, and more). Then: Listener inquiries! Is game development in danger of so-called "mode collapse"? How has MiHoYo managed to find so much success across so many high-caliber games? Would Sony ever explore re-releasing old PlayStation hardware? Will Chris and Dustin join Colin in the Fart Corner? A new episode of Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast launches each Friday morning. Give me a break, it’s only mass layoffs when it affects the things that Chris likes that matter. You sounds like Alec Baldwin at the end of team America, dude. You think because you use big words and talk about corporations, and the gilded age that makes you smart? You even know anything about that? Why it happened? Who were the players and the solution we did to solve it? Or is that some commie left wing talking point that you heard in one of you tictok shorts? You live in LA, sounds like by yourself and with no attachments and you talk about not having buying power? What a joke. I’m sorry but not sorry, this is the first time ever in my life that I don’t live paycheck to paycheck since I started making money in 2001. Had an apartment for a grand lived with 3 people. Electric bill was 200 bucks a month. Had the internet for 45 bucks a month. Bought a shitbox car, that I worked on when it broke down. Ate Mac n cheese, pork, hot dogs and ramen while drinking water or kool aid. Had a landline which was also 20. Oh yeah all while making $8.25 as a printer, hey Chris I guess that the internet that gutted that industry which was 100 of thousands of workers were out on their ass. Then here’s a shocker after working 48-60 hours a week, I had a part time job at a restaurant, which was my fun money and got free meals and booze. Gas was $3.25 to $4 a gallon from 2001-2010. Hell, I didn’t have a cellphone until 2006, which was the cheapest piece of shit that I then kept for 4 years. Your just spoiled children that think your owed something for breathing. It’s not my fault that you didn’t learn to cook for yourself, fix things yourself, find something you’re good at and excel at it and someday you’ll get paid well. But instead you sit on fb or X or whatever and cry and whine. Oh yeah and I bought my first house in 2020 and raised a family of 3 when I married my wife in 2011. For the first time in my life I can call myself middle class and you whiny bums that demand $20 an hour to flip a burger, fucks the true middle class. Don’t blame the corporations, blame yourself for raising the price of everything. You don’t know what it is to be truly broke, because truly broke people wouldn’t have a cellphone wasting their time.

Could care less dude, sorry that reading is hard for you. So I’ll boil it down for you, it’s the land of opportunity not the land of entitlement. Get over yourself. One last thing, writing ain’t my job and I’m not doing a paper. This shit is a forum and it’s called a stream of conscience, not a fucking Ai bot like yours.

Michael Thew

That all you got dude? Sorry I offended you delicate sensibilities with my first draft. Sorry you think it’s joke that we are financially bankrupt as a country, yet the lazy and selfish always got their hands out, crying. It’s not a right or a left issue, it’s an entitlement and the constant bitching and moaning issue. You waste your life being miserable over nothing, I’m sure my 44 year old friend, who died of brain cancer 2 years ago would trade slowing forgetting his family, me and everything else for one more day in this world you people think is such shit. Pretty sure I can say thats what he would say for a fact, since he was my best friend for 40 of those years.

man, you seem really well adjusted and happy

Michael Thew

Maybe get off all the SSRI’s you take for all your “problems” and you could also be well adjusted like me. What else you guys got besides your, “oh who let, insert republican, into the comment section” or the, “you seem well adjusted”. Like I said above you guys sound like Alec Baldwin in Team America. Come up with an original thought because your shit is weak

Colin if you play Alan Wake 2 in the 40fps mode with PSSR 2 there shouldn't be much shimmering and looks phenomenal. Still my favorite game this gen and the lake house dlc is great and timely with its themes

Matthew Cooper

I think the big secret for Alan Wake 2 is turning off the post processing effects, especially motion blur. The motion blur effect really exaggerates the shimmering artifacts.

This is you "everyone that doesn't agree with me or has a different life experience is a commie wanting a handout!" You taking shots at Chris for using big words is low IQ behavior lol Also very classy bringing out your friend as an example.

The GTA price conversation and calculation prepared by Colim were spectacular. You put significant effort into it and explained it so well, I would love to use it for my audience, but wouldn't feel right just copying you. I get the same comments after my shows and after a video I did: "The Golden Era for Being a Gamer is Now". Well done. I feel this is where Colin you are at your greatest and I always liked you for exactly telling the people the truth, backed by numbers and data. Awesome!

Beef Burka

It's my turn to say "hey I recognize those lyrics" and to say "I didn't expect to see Colin quoting Don Henley Lyrics"

1:06 Stop with the averages. Use median instead of average income. Outliers in averages misrepresent realities behind data. Particularly economic data. Median meanwhile gives a more accurate representation of income and economic situations. You're point is still proven either way.

The Late Nate

Oh hey, Chris has The New Abnormal on his wall! How did I never notice that? Great album!
