Nick starts to understand why The Eagles are so popular and successful! FINALLY!

We were excited to finally be able to react to them, as we'd never done so on the channel after Don Henley gave us a copyright strike on the channel.

Hope you enjoy!

Lots of love,

Nick, Lex & Marley

Eagles harmonies are so amazing ! Just like you guys.Cheers !

Michele

Southern California harmonies. Written by Jackson Browne with help from Glenn Frey (Edit: “Take It Easy”). When I first saw them live, it was a triple header: Jackson Browne, the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt and a real hippie crowd. Lol. Nice reaction - still watching. ✨🤪

Michele

When Joe Walsh joined, he brought an edgier rock sound.

Michele

Story goes: Maybe Walter’s girlfriend liked the Eagles. In a track on the Royal Scam (“Everything You Did”), they sing about having an argument and saying “Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening.” And the Eagles responded in Hotel California with “They stab it with their steely knives but they just can’t kill the beast.” Lol.

Debra Brabenec

Yes, "Take it Easy" was mostly written by Jackson Browne, but he got stuck and Glenn Frey put in the line: "it's a girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowin' down to take a look at me." Jackson loved the arrangement the Eagles did.

Debra Brabenec

Also, I'm proud to say that Glenn Frey is from my hometown of Royal Oak, Michigan, and we had the same piano teacher!

To me, the Eagles was just a radio "filler", some of their song playing on soft rock or rock station back in the 80s or 90s, which never appealed to me. I guess I'll have to dig in!

come together

Love them or hate them, they knew how to craft very good songs. They've sold 100's of millions of records over the years for a reason.

I absolutely adore Linda Ronstadt, she could take any persons song and make it her own. "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" "Willin'" "Tumbling Dice" etc... too many to mention. She could sing rock, country, jazz, opera and being half Mexican she could sing Hispanic music as well.

… I'm gonna be a happy idiot And struggle for the legal tender Where the ads take aim and lay their claim To the heart and the soul of the spender… Love those Jackson Browne lyrics.

R.I.P. to Marvin Lee Aday aka Meat Loaf, passed away at 74.

NicknLex

We knew him as Bob in the movie fight club but he was also an amazing musician.

Murdock Moriarty

As a fan of 'The Big Lebowski', The Eagles are not really for me 😉😉

Murdock Moriarty

😂 only now did I reach that part in your video. Yeah, I guess the Eagles have been destroyed for an entire generation. Well, they are not that bad, obviously. Yet, even without the movie, nothing I'd listen to very often.

I liked the Eagles well enough in the 70s but was a pretty casual fan. I like to joke that I used to be an Eagles fan, but it turns out that I’m really a Bernie Leadon fan. He brought a lot to those early albums with his multi instrumental playing; that’s him playing the lead guitar and banjo on this track) - some versatility, huh? I just didn’t dig the more famous, later incarnation, quite as much. Saw both versions of the band, and the first concert was the more enjoyable to me.

Michele

What I like is the diversity you’re bringing to the channel. It will help you grow, keep you feeding us reactions and entertain all of us. We definitely considered the Eagles soft rock or pop rock. But whatever lane they traveled, they did it well, musically and vocally. Including them here let’s us re-evaluate and listen with fresh ears and will diversify your output and give a more accurate feel for the times. Continue to give us Yes, ELP, Rush, metal, jazz fusion, Pat and especially Steely Dan! ... and I welcome the surprises. Thanks 😊

Michele

That being said .., it’s totally cool, of course, for anyone to voice opinions about the music. No one is gonna love everything - even me - and I’m a “music Easy A.” Lol. As a subscriber, I welcome it ALL and everyone’s opinions as well. Just saying. Love you guys. ✨🤪

Michele

Hope he’s found his Paradise by the Dashboard Light. RIP. 💔

Murdock Moriarty

That being said, I actually DO love one particular Eagles song, and - surprise, surprise - it's even off their overplayed multi-seller 'Hotel California': ",Victim of Love" 🔥

Andrew A

No denying how popular the Eagles were and still are. I didn’t mind them in the 70s, but I didn’t go out of my way to listen to them and I never owned any of their albums. Well crafted and well played songs, but just not my thing. Now, they’ve been so overplayed, I can’t listen to them at all. “Hotel California” is in the same bucket as “Stairway to Heaven”. No thanks.

Michele

Andrew, your knowledge, opinions and passion are so welcome on this channel - please get well soon. Keep us posted too. Thanks ✨🤪

Hi Michele! Hope my Eagles comment wasn’t too snarky! 😂 I’ve actually watched a few of their concert videos all the way through. I think they’re all incredibly talented. I love Joe Walsh’s work with the James Gang and his earliest solo albums. I think Timothy B. Schmit has a phenomenal voice and “I Can’t Tell You Why” is a lovely ballad. And I do like Henley’s voice, and I owned “End of the Innocence”. Some great songs on that album including “New York Minute” and the title track - although I prefer Bruce Hornsby’s version on “Here Come the Noise Makers”. Now THERE’S someone who it would be interesting to hear Nick and Lex react to! Especially his mid-period more jazz-influenced stuff with the Noise Makers. I love the album Halcyon Days.

Eric Meredith

Nick , i loved the big lebowski reference!😂 joking aside , i listened to a lot of eagles growing up. Hell freezes over live album! Was in my disc changer for a very long time! Will always love it. Thanks for this video! Great songs. Fun reaction!

Greatest Hits was my 2nd Eagles record (after guess what ? , but I don't remember exactly why I bought it). I remember for sure, from the very first note, Take it easy had this "put you in a good mood vibe", I loved it. I'm sure, I knew it from radio, but didn't know it's the Eagles and just like you: I had heard, but not really listened to it. Witchy woman's intro sounded so "Indian" to me with the drums and then the voice and the background vocals catch you. And then you listen to the album song by song and there is not 1, where you would have said, hmmm this one maybe not, as you know it from other greatest hits compilations … they always have 1 or 2 or 3 songs, you would not have picked. According to the Recording Industry Association of America it’s the most sold album worldwide with over 40 million sold copies (2018). Followed by Thriller, Zeppelin IV, Back in Black and Rumours. (I have heard other rankings … but still impressing). PS: Hotel California is composed by Felder/Henley/Frey. Fun fact: the producer’s name does not have one vowel, but you still can pronounce it : Bill Szymczyk PPS: Have you ever seen Rick Beato’s 20 minute video, where he’s blaming Don Henley for his actions against youtubers and others … it’s ridiculous, as you say, that this rich man fights this senseless fight. In the video he is shown saying, he has hired 60 people to take care of it  poor soul

Rudi Becker

it's maybe the hardest song ever, the Eagles recorded, I like it too, together with Life in the fast lane it's a good counterpart to the hits and the more cheesy songs as Wasted Time and Last Resort

Alan Walker

The entirety of this album, Hotel California, One of These Nights, and The Long Run are eventual must listens for y’all. And I live in NE Texas about an hour from where Henley grew up and still frequents, and from the few accounts I’ve heard he’s been extremely friendly and approachable, but who knows with these celebs. But regardless…the music is impeccable.

Todd Michelfelder

Another great reaction! I agree with others that “The Long Run” definitely should be listened to. It is a totally different sound. I am going to see the Eagles in Indy in March. We have floor seats and I will give you my critic of the show and try and get a little video to share with you. On another note, I left you a link to a Steely Dan performance on your Instagram page. Keep up your great reactions they are much appreciated!!!👏👏👏

I actually stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, seemed like a regular sight to see….

Cappy Petri

Glad to see you’re exploring The Eagles and this doubleheader was a great start. So many really good songs over so many years with so many personnel changers. The early years is a great place for you to have started. They only get better from there. ❤️

Mark Burgess

Good art is able to reach the emotional part of us. It should be able to stimulate both sides of the brain. To be my age and having heard the Eagles songs (and other artists fifty years ago) on the radio for the first time, was jaw dropping. Now when I hear them and watch you guys discover them, it's nostalgic and encouraging at the same time. Enjoy the human experience together.

Luke D

One of THE best American bands ever!

...BTW, Joe Walsh joined The Eagles in 1975 for the album Hotel California, which was released in 76. He did not play on either of these songs, or on their 1st 4 albums, but thank you for doing these 2 "hits". I enjoyed it too:)
