Roger Glover, the bassist from Deep Purple also left DP to join Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow.

Since you've been exploring Ritchie Blackmore you might want to check out 'Blackmore's Night' which is Alexia Friendly. They play acoustic folk renaissance music. Very different from what you'd expect from Ritchie Blackmore. This song, from their first album features Ian Anderson on flute. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fomtue_jLNI

One of my favourite albums ever..Dio is unique..He eventually left to join Black Sabbath and recorded two cracking albums..Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules.

Greybeard Music Man

Ronnie James and Ritchie together in their prime, it doesn't get any better! This album is in my top ten of all time.

Greybeard Music Man

I believe Ian Paice and Roger produced some of Dio's music when he formed Elf. If I remember correctly, my 64 year old brain doesn't recall memories like it used to😂

B Mac

Rush is more melodic. That's probably why Alexia likes them more than this.

So much fun as always! Stargazer is definitely an epic piece, many Rainbow fans swear this is their best. On the Straight Between the Eyes album, there is a track called Eyes of Fire which has a similar feel, very hypnotic and Egyptian sounding. I have always wondered if Blackmore was trying to recreate Stargazer with this piece. You had mentioned Malmsteen stealing the vocalists. Rainbow has quite an interesting history and an extensive family tree, pretty much new band members on each album. The original lineup was most of Dio's old band Elf. That band was very different, not heavy at all. Very bluesy and somewhat country sounding at times. Not at all what you would expect from Dio but it's some great stuff. Cozy Powell, the drummer on this album, was with numerous bands, including the Michael Schenker Group (which featured Graham Bonnet on one album), Whitesnake (with former Deep Purple singer David Coverdale), Emerson Lake and Powell, Black Sabbath (which for one album featured Ian Gillan of Deep Purple, and at another time Glenn Hughes also formerly with Purple) and various others. Keyboardist David Rosenthal from Straight Between the Eyes also worked with Yngwie. Former Rainbow keyboardist Don Airey now plays with Deep Purple. I could go on with all the bands intertwined, but you get the idea! In addition to Dio, Bonnet and Turner, there were released albums much later but to me they did not match up to the quality of the older works. Just my opinion, but there weren't any songs I wanted to hear more than once. After the last album with Turner, there was a Deep Purple reunion, the first album they released, Perfect Strangers, is a classic and a masterpiece from start to finish. Can't wait to see the solo reaction to Stargazer, as well as the upcoming marathon. However, Lex, it was great to see you again. ❤️

That was superb Nick and Lex thank you so much. Great to see you both reacting together. Once again you take us back !! Years since I've heard that album. Nick hopefully I'll be able to get a request in for your metal with Nick. The song is a Queen song which Metallica play live ! It was recorded in 74 and its from their sheer heart attack album. The song is called stone cold crazy .It has been called by many artists the first thrash metal song ! It would hopefully be tolerable for your beloved Lex! Anyway it would be great if it works out my friends. And finally I have to say that I can't always react to every request you do because of work commitments .I'm in the privileged position of being a self employed live in care worker. I work for a minimum of two months up to six months (during the pandemic)I get a two hour break daily and on a Sunday I'm off from noon to nine o'clock. On a Sunday I visit my sister and cook for her for the week. My little sister is my favourite human being on the planet....a beautiful soul.I played her some of your requests on a drive the other week and she loved it !!Anyway beautiful souls that's all for now my friends, love and peace from Michael 🤗

Hi Guys ! Well I finally made it onto Patreon. First time to see a full album reaction and it just had to be Rainbow. That was brilliant. I enjoyed that so much. Thankyou.. I understand Lex saying it got too much. It's even more intense if you know the lyrics and the story with the last two tracks. I want to point ot especially to Lex that the first debut album with the cover of the guitar shaped like a Disneyland castle is very much soft melodic rock and nothing like the 2nd album ,"Rainbow Rising" hard rock. It's a much more gentle album. Beautiful melodies. Byeee Jim X

Killer drumming by Cozy Powell in this album and great vocal performance by RJD 🤘🏻

Guitar solo from Blackmore traces back to his style in 1968 and a good example is the tune Mandrake Root https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WZoBFtqtf0 ....and also what makes Dio shine is Blackmore`s compositional skills the strum and drang ... and then their is the guitar solo from the live version from Live in Germany 1976 ... fasten your seat belts

Son of Alerick

The Storm, Fires at Midnight, I Still Remember, Wish You Were Here, Ghost of a Rose etc etc and all the instrumentals by Blackmore`s Night have some of the most amazing guitar work and compositions are magical ....

The best way to enjoy Rainbow is their live albums every tune is 10 times better live than the studio :)

Soooo tooonight, I finally found the time to watch this reaction. I haven't listened to the whole album for more than 20 years because it's on cassette. But I have the best songs on a Best Of CD, Live CDs and the DVD of the famous Munich concert. So I had forgotten about a few of the songs, and a lot of them really

Rudi Becker

... sound 70s to me nowadays with Stargazer being the "Übersong".

Rudi Becker

My favourite part of the reaction was when you talked about the name of Ritchie's son: first you named both my names Rudolf and Hans, then you picked the right one : Jürgen, just like my brother. Fun fact: I had completely forgotten, that I recorded the LP side 2 first and then side 1--- because of Stargazer, which I wanted to be nr 1 on the cassette; so I was a little confused when you started with Tarot woman :-)
