One of the best times we've had on camera. Watch as we re-listen to the album that started it all in a different light & with lyrics handy!

Hi everyone!!

We come bearing bricks this holiday season 😂! Ok, but really. We are SO excited to share this album listen with you guys. It was truly one of the best times we've had on camera.

Not only was it wonderful to re-listen to the album that started it all, but how we heard it in different light and got a whole new sense of the lyrics was magical, too.

Expect Side Two next month!!! 😍

Love always,

Lex, Nick & Marley

Can’t wait to watch and relive the Wall with everyone.

Am I the first person to comment? Wow, there's a first time for everything! That was a lot of fun, and slightly different in so far as you both know the album so well, much better than I do even though I consider myself a Pink Floyd fan. You raised so many points and questions, and I can't remember them all, but here are a few thoughts. Nick, the lead character's name is 'Pink'. It was inspired by the line in 'Have A Cigar', 'Oh by the way, which one's Pink'? It's also worth remembering that Roger wasn't in his mid 20's by 1979, he was actually 36 years old. This is a very mature piece of work consequently. Alexia makes a good point, there is so much 'space' in the songs and arrangements and it does separate Pink Floyd from the progressive masters of the 70's. I don't think of Pink Floyd as progressive, I never have done. In their early days in '67 they were considered 'underground'. Underground bands were 'not mainstream pop' and 'not blues' but a little bit hippy, playing in small clubs down alleys that had trippy strobe lighting etc. In my mind they became psychedelic, then experimental, almost 'avant-garde' before Meddle which felt more mainstream rock except for 'Echoes'. Then Dark Side took them into 'conceptual' rock, brilliantly arranged and played rock songs with more traditional structures within a unifying concept/theme. taking them through Wish You Were Here and Animals to it's ultimate conclusion The Wall. I don't know whether anyone will agree with me on that, but I can't tie the Floyd in with Yes, Genesis or ELP. They are very different but that's just fine with me. I love them all! Can't wait for Disc 2 (see the old school vibe there?)

My favourite Pink Floyd album. Always a pleasure to listen to it every time

Yes, have a 1967 Floyd concert poster for The Fillmore in SF. Looks like Floyd was opening for Procol Harum. HP Lovecraft also on the bill.

Richard Dobson

Yes, Procol Harum would have been bigger at that time. I've never listened to HP Lovecraft. They weren't on my radar around then. Recommend?

So is The Wall a bonus full album or is this a poll winner from previous months? I kind of lost track.

NicknLex

This was the bonus for this month. Last months winner was Talking Heads and bonus was Magical Mystery Tour. :)

Great Scott

Great reaction, can't wait for the next part. If you're looking for recommendations as to the next PF full album to (re-)listen to, please consider Meddle -- Echoes is epic, and I've always loved instrumentals like One Of These Days [I'm Going To Cut You Into Little Pieces] - whenever I'd get to a Brit Floyd or Aussie Floyd show, I'd always wait with anticipation for them to play it, just love the pounding bass line in it. (And usually the giant kangaroo would bounce around during the middle / end for AF; maybe the giant pig for BF.) Seriously, do Meddle soon after you finish part 2 here. Thanks muchly. -GS
