Aloha Patrons!

Welcome to September, and a warm welcome to all the new Patrons!  Thanks for joining us here, and thanks to all of you for directly supporting my work and for helping to create a powerful and positive online ukulele community!

If you are a new Patron, please introduce yourself in the comments below. Feel free to share how long you've been playing, what kind of uke you play, if you have an uke club to play with, what songs you've been working on. And if you've been a Patron for a while and want to share, please go ahead. This is a good place for questions too - fellow Patrons, feel free to help me answer any newbie questions.

A note for newbies - I know Patreon can be a bit hard to navigate. Please be patient and explore.  Some important resources:

  • Check out our New Patron Guide/FAQ post, and please comment there if you have a question that the FAQ doesn't answer
  • Be sure to join our secret Patrons-Only Facebook group  (email patronhelp@cynthialin.com with your Facebook email address - more info in the Community Notes at the bottom of this post.)  Our community on Facebook is active and supportive, and it's the best place to post any question you have about Patreon or ukulele.
  • I also recommend downloading our CL Patron App, which has links to all my channels and resources (see Community Notes for links to download).

August 2019 RECAP

In August, I posted two new videos.

  • I shared a compilation video in celebration of #100DaysofUkuleleSongs 2019. More than thirty participants from around the world submitted clips! See it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/DjQ92S_qlro
  • I also shared a new public play-along video for "Don't Dream It's Over," our April Live Lesson Vote-Winner. You can check it out here.

More August 2019 News:

  • At this year's SF Summer Uke Fest, I performed the Gershwin classic "Summertime" with our all-star band.  Afterwards, I received many lovely comments and positive feedback on this specific song, so I decided to make the audio available for digital streaming and download.  Please listen and enjoy! Find all the pertinent links in this post!
  • In our August Patron Live Lesson, I taught "Homeward Bound" by Paul Simon. That lesson is now available to all Patrons.
  • I taught an arrangement of "Wagon Wheel" at our August Beginner Jam ($10+ Patrons).
  • For our August Intermediate Jam I created and taught a new arrangement of "Señorita,"  by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.
  • I added new tees and tanks in limited edition summer colors to my online shop. The pink tank sold out quickly, but other styles and colors may still be available.

September 2019 PATRON EVENTS CALENDAR

Please note that dates have been adjusted to accommodate my Australia Tour this month!

See all Patron events on our Patron Google calendar (also accessible through our Patron App). Please note the 5:30 Pacific Time start for Live events.

  • Thurs 9/5 @ 5:30PM Pacific Time - Beginner Live Jam ($10+ Patrons) - we'll warm up with a jam on songs from my Ukulele 101 Songbook, review last month's lesson, and I'll teach a Beginner arrangement of "Señorita,"  by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.  We'll focus on how to chuck, and how to add a chuck to the island strum.  Lesson info coming tomorrow.
  • Sat 9/7 through Tues 9/10 - Vote for our Patron Song of the Month (coming in a separate post)!
  • Thurs 9/19 @ 5:30PM Pacific Time Live Lesson for vote-winning song ($5+ Patrons) + Chord Chart posted ($3+ Patrons).
  • Thurs 10/3 @ 5:30PM Pacific Time Intermediate Live Jam ($20+ Patrons). Yes, the "September" Intermediate Jam is happening in early October this month! It needed to be pushed back to accommodate my Australia Tour travel. This means there will be two Intermediate Jams in October (the "October" Intermediate Jam will happen at the end of October).  Thanks for adjusting!

In-Person Appearances in September

I also invite you to join me most Wednesdays at 5PM Pacific Time for my 5@5 Instagram Live Show. Follow me @cynthialinmusic to get notified when I go live. Please note there will be NO Instagram 5@5 livestream on Wednesday, Sept. 11th, due to my travel schedule. Thanks for your understanding!

Thanks, as always, for supporting what I do, and thanks for helping me share the joy of ukulele with people across the world. I believe we can change the world, one uke at a time. :)

just enjoyed your 100 days of ukulele version of "perhaps, perhaps, perhaps" It is such a beautiful song. Do you have a chord chart or plans to do this as a live lesson/tutorial? Would really love that

Amy E DeBurgh

Hi! I’m new. I’ve been playing since June of this year. I am learning At the End of the Line by Skerryvore.

Hello! Just joined as a Patron. Been playing ukulele for three years now, which has expanded into baritone and guitar. The ukulele brings me a lot of joy every day. Excited to learn some more advanced techniques! Thank you!

Its Jerry here. Just joined today. Been playing ukulele for maybe six months. Mostly following YouTube videos and a text book. Know some basic stuff but would like to level up. Fun fact: usually practice playing after dark in my car.

Cindy

Hi Cindy here from sunny Florida. Have been playing my uke for almost 4 months now. I play Lanikai Concert CKCGC. Love your lessons they have helped me progress very quickly. I play about an hour a day. Working on Come Away With Me and Hey Jude. Having difficulty with fingerpicking.
