Aloha, Patrons!

Warm June greetings to you all, and welcome to all of our new Patrons. New Patrons, please see the resources later in this post for help getting started in our community.

5@5 today on YouTube: A quick heads up that I will be going live today on YouTube for my weekly 5@5 show (Wednesdays, 5 songs at 5pm Pacific time).  Tune in here if you're able to join live!  I typically go live on Instagram but I've been considering a move over to YouTube, would love your support, especially if you prefer YouTube to Instagram.

NEW Beginner Live Jam for UK/European timezones with Jenny

UK/European timezone Patrons, please take note!  Last month I mentioned that I wanted to test out a new virtual jam that's specifically scheduled so that our UK/EU timezone Patrons can attend live.  Thanks to everyone who responded!  For those who may not know, I live in Hawaii time (GMT -10), which makes it quite difficult to lead a live event for our UK/EU Patrons. Thank you to our Community Manager Jenny Selig for stepping in to host!

Join us tomorrow for a Bonus UK/EU Friendly Beginner Live Jam ($10+) on June 3, 2021 at 5:30 pm London Time (BST).  Please join live if you can - by showing up and supporting, you can help make this a regular monthly event.

Save the Date for Our Day 100 Showcase Video!

Though this year's 100 Days of Ukulele Project ended in May, there's one more celebration coming up. Behind the scenes, community members are hard at work compiling and editing a Showcase Video that will feature clips from many of this year's participants. Join me on my YouTube channel on Friday, June 18th at noon Hawaii Time for its premiere! Watch for a post with more details.

See you online soon!

Cynthia E Becker

Hello! Fellow Cynthia here, from Grapevine, TX. I started playing around with my daughter's uke about two months ago and am finding it slow going, especially the strumming, but I'm determined! I am learning on a soprano uke and have been trying to work through songs that use C, G, F, Am chords, like those in your first few lessons. I don't yet have a group to play with--still too new and would probably find that intimidating--but maybe in a few months!

Kym St Claire

Groups are so supportive and a great way to learn, find one near you. Ukulele communities are soooo friendly!

Jenny Selig

The great part about a group is that newbies can "hide" in a group -- it's likely no one will be listening too closely, and you can feel free to experiment and make mistakes and learn from the folks around you!

Dina

Hey Ms Becker! Awesome about your recent Uke endeavors!. I appreciate Ms. Lin's efforts to form a group like this. What songs are you working on right now? Happy Uking! 💕

Dina

CYNTHIA! Thanks for all you do and create! I'm working on your, SAY YOU LOVE ME arrangement. I'm loving your terrific Patreon community! 🌺Aloha, Everyone! 🐬🐟🐡🌺

Sandra Lane

Dearest Cynthia. My own music teacher suggested you as a terrific source and talented instructor. How right she is! I play, or try to play, a baritone uke. Sixty years ago my mom bought a very inexpensive Harmony and my brother and I fooled around on it between his base guitar lessons and my piano lessons. My husband, who NEVER complains about my playing, bought me a Kala instrument last year. I do need to transpose to play with you but that's an excellent exercise. As one who is not a user of social media, I am delighted to have the YouTube option. As a former advertising copywriter, I am in awe of your marketing skills as well. Many thanks.

Cynthia E Becker

Dina: I'm working on Riptide, 3 Little Birds, I'm Yours, Don't Worry Be Happy, Yellow, Dreams, Island Style

Cynthia Lin

welcome, Sandra! i would love to know the marketing skills that stand out to you - i've just picked these skills up along the way as an independent artist. thanks!

Suzy Maska

Hello from Pleasanton, CA! I am a new supporter, and I play a Romero Creation grand tenor. I started playing just prior to the pandemic :).

Emily Grace

Hey Cynthia!! Crazy chance we could get a tutorial on Olivia Newton John's "Let Me Be There"? I absolutely LOVE and adore that song. If you could put it in a different key than C for us, that would sure be wonderful as I'd love to learn some new chords beyond the Key of C family... This gal is my favorite and one of the best versions if you ask me - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8iYOd4IpLQ&list=RDP8iYOd4IpLQ&start_radio=1 This is the best tutorial I've seen out there, but it's for guitar... Can you teach us how to do the little fancy tricks she's doing on her chords here though? Pretty please? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-9vehYma2c

Ruth Coburn

Hello Cynthia new to the group really enjoyed your free lessons on YouTube. I learned a lot from you. I’m excited to learn more from you.

Bella Stierhof

Hello everyone, I am a new patreon and you are an amzing teacher! I startet playing around half a year ago and just bought my second ukulele (concert-size from Baton Rouge). Right now I am working on your tutorial about "You've got a friend" and i just love your arrangements and chord-sheets - Thank you so much!

Marion Tissot

Hello everyone! I would love to have a tutorial for Agua de Beber! Your renditon was great in the 5@5 Cynthia :-)
