Aloha, Patrons!

I'll see you Thursday, June 17 at 5:30pm Pacific Time for our monthly Live Lesson.  If you click on the video above, you’ll see a countdown for your time zone. (Find all Patron events on our Patron Google calendar).

Tune in here: https://youtu.be/v3dh5YNgeXY

This month's Live Lesson:  "Linger" + "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

I taught a beginner version of "Linger" for our Beginner Live Jam - for the All-Levels Lesson, we'll add the intro tab and outro tab, and also continue working on reading rhythm notation.  Watch a preview in tonight's 5@5 (it's the 2nd song).

We'll also cover "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in the key of G, as a refresher for those who are participating in the Rainbow Flash Mob.  Hopefully you'll be joining us!  I also played it in tonight's 5@5.

And we'll warm up with a review of my original song "New Day" from last month's Live Lesson.

A note about our monthly Live Lessons

My goal is to teach and arrange a lesson that is interesting for all levels. I will walk through the lesson by starting with beginner-level strumming, and gradually layer on more challenging options for advanced players.

I encourage you to play at your level, and embrace your own pace of incrementally leveling up. You can re-watch the lesson as many times as you like. Grasp the basics on the first go-round, and each time you review, you'll pick up new tips and techniques. You can use this method to become a better student and better learner - by building more awareness and more patience. :)

How to Watch Live

1. Click on this direct link to the lesson: https://youtu.be/v3dh5YNgeXY

For those who are new, please note this is a private link, intended for Patrons only.

2. Log in to YouTube to join the live chat, and please say hello!  I can't see that you're watching unless you chat.  If you have trouble using chat on a mobile device/ tablet, you may want to try on a desktop or laptop browser.

3. Feel free to post your questions to me, or to the community.

How to Watch Later

Hello I am looking for the song leaving on a jet plane. I had a search before on the top but I had to log in again. Now all I see are these posts. How do I get to the older tutorials without scrolling down for 1/2 hour? Thanks for the help.

Hello Cynthia, I'm having a hard time with the 3 beat strum & singing, but step by step, and slowly it's getting better...

Elyse Wanshel

Hi -- I love this song, but I’m having a really hard time understanding the tab on it, especially on the chord chart. In the past, tab was written in charts like it is in “Happy Birthday,” but this new way is throwing me for a curve. Anyone have any advice on how I could wrap my head around this?

Bupha Hochstrasser

Hi Cynthia, love everything you and try to to practice every day as you say. Finally my husband said sound good now, only easy song. Thanks to you.

Jenny Selig

Hi, Bupha! Is your thumb hurting from strumming or holding the ukulele/making chords? I don't know whether you're left or right handed, but you'll want to adjust things so it doesn't hurt.

Polly Fossey

I accidentally played the low G tab on my high G ukelele and it sounded better to me than the high G tab. I know there are no rules, but is this crazy?

Polly Fossey

I'm into guitar lessons by Cynthia!

Lisa Hsu

I feel like I could watch Cynthia just drumming and clapping for a whole lesson.
