Probably one of our favorite movies of this year so far! It's beautiful, heartwarming and surprisingly funny and emotional. Whew, we felt it all, beware of all the sniffles in this one. Ryan Gosling was definitely in his element here...and no spoilers but we're going to need some merch of a certain someone here!

A science teacher wakes up alone on a spaceship. As his memory returns, he uncovers a mission to stop a mysterious substance killing Earth's sun.

I absolutely adore this story. The movie. The book. If you do audiobooks, I HIGHLY recommend this on audiobook. One of the best performances of a book I’ve ever listened to. This movie is so so special, I’m so glad I get to watch this again with you guys.

If you haven't figured it out yet, It's based on a novel by the same author that wrote the Martian. He does love to stuck people in space. I read the book first, and it was really exciting to visualise it via the movie.

The song that plays when Rocky & Grace are saying goodbye is a Maori Farewell Song. It hit me hard, my Nan used to sing the English version to me when she was still alive. The lyrics are 'Now is the hour for me to say goodbye Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea While you're away oh please remember me When you return you'll find me waiting here' I love this movie. I’ve been tuning in for your Supernatural reactions but I was so excited when I got the notification you were reacting to this! Great reaction! I knew you guys would love it. Absolutely go see it at the movie theater. I believe it’s still out in some places at least. I think around Oscar time it will get a rerelease. If it goes back into IMAX theaters go see it. I had the privilege to see it in IMAX 70mm in Phoenix and it is not to be missed. The effects were all practical. No green screens! There is a ton of bts and making of content out there if you’re interested. Be sure to watch through the end credits. Part way through it switches over to some beautiful astrophotography.

So glad you guys enjoyed this movie and wasn’t spoiled on a certain character. I’ve seen this movie twice in theatre and cried both times. Definitely watch behind the scenes when you can cause they go in deeper on some of the shots especially when you meet the actor/puppeteer who plays rocky as well. Otherwise, amaze amaze amaze👎

This was a lot of fun to rewatch with you guys! Loved that you went in completely blind! I highly recommend the book (particularly the audiobook, they do Rocky's voice so well!). Definitely think that Cody would especially enjoy the book, it goes into far more detail about the science behind the story, and it's probably the most scientifically accurate fiction I've ever read. (And yes, speaking of accurate science, multiple people have pointed out the unbalanced centrifuge in the movie!)

Grace didn’t love humans enough to die for all of Earth, but he loved Rocky enough to die for all Eridians. It’s not touched on in the movie, but Grace doesn’t have enough food to make it home after saving Rocky. He thinks it’s a death sentence when he makes the choice to go back for him. 😭

I know everyone loves this movie but I wasn't in the mood to watch it nor felt a deep need to. Probably cause I knew I likely would cry and be sad by the ending. But when you guys decided to watch it, I though better bite the bullet and join you guys, you always make it fun to watch along. So yeah I too LOVE this movie now and am so happy where the story went, having thought it be another sad ending one but color me so happily surprised! Loving that Rocky's mate is part of the team that's making sure Grace's new home is good. The facts that he learned their language at the end and teaching their kids, choosing for now to remain. Cause hey, like they said, he has no family or even a dog back home. The reveal of the betrayal was gut retching but deep down it's hard to fault them in the face of the end of the planet as we knew it. Also felt very real, I wouldn't be able to say yes either if I was honest. And yeah I did like that the other crew members did get their little moments so they weren't just personality lacking nobodies as I did in fact sit there wondering how they would react to all of it if they had been alive. Also might buy the book now and ready it~

I started crying during that "eulogy". And I thought, "damn, I don't even know these people" and I'm crying. Then I remembered, "HE doesn't even know these people" (at the moment due to amnesia) and I started balling. Ryan, the editors, the composers - they did amazing. Everyone who worked on this, absolutely beautiful film.

I would say something like this depends on the person and what they choose to identify as. Though I will say I wouldn't go around asking people questions like this unless you're very close to them as it's a bit forward of a question. Bears are more of a select community that people may decide to identify with, it's not something people are catagorized by how they look. Some people may not like being called that if it doesn't fit their identity. I would highly encourage you to google these kinds of questions, reddit is probably a better space to ask these kinds of things as well.

We've also decided that Eridian children are called Pebbles. My son worked at the movie theatre up until a couple of weeks ago. He saw the movie once with his friends, then a second time with his girlfriend and then finally with me. I absolutely loved it and could very much relate to Sergio’s reaction. I give the movie a 10/10. As Rocky would say, “Amaze, amaze, amaze”.

Lol that you guys called it for gracerocky shipping, I started seeing that as soon as the movie came out! But their bond is so sweet and special. Also, it would be awesome to see your guys' reactions to more behind the scenes content! There's a ton of awesome stuff about making this movie -- the use of both cgi and practical effects, the puppetry and animatronics for rocky, the thought put into the soundtrack AND score, etc. I especially loved learning about how rocky came to life :)

This movie is so good. I can't wait to read the book. To be clear, the Petrova Line doesn't exist at all so the story is fiction. It just has some grounded concepts. Also, never apologize for crying, Sergio. This is definitely a movie that gets you in their feels. I did much tearing up and eventually crying cause that sound of distress and pain that Rocky makes during that one scene. . . I swear I'll never get it out of my head. I can't unhear it. It makes re-watching for reactions tricky cause I'm like I never want to hear that sound again lol but yeah. . . this movie is so good. The music, the visuals, the acting, just it is all so well done. Like Stratt's actor is sooo good. The way the moment the emotions came through even when she didn't want to let it show cause being attached isn't good for her job. It's easier to do the job she has to do when you're not attached. You can tell that when she has to do that to Grace, she doesn't want to, but she really does have no choice and she paid consequences for it - there's a point in the movie where she mentions she'll probably go to prison before this is over due to some of what she has to do to make this happen to save the world and you can tell that she did spend time in prison(think there's a tattoo or something) - as well as having to live with what she did to Grace who she did get attached to(you can tell this by what she packed for him cause remember he didn't pack his bag for the trip). But there were bigger things to think about in this situation. And please, please, please post your Arrival reaction! Looooove Arrival. It is also based off a story - a short story in its case - that is a good read.

The vibe is very similar to the other Andy Weir adaptation of The Martian. I just love the great mix of adventure, science, comedy, heart. Also as someone who does arrangements of music on demand, I can confirm that this movie has definitely made the song Rainbows a much requested song!

You guys should post a version where the movie is muted. It's basically impossible to watch the movie on my tv and your reaction on my laptop at the same time. Especially since the timing is ever so slightly different so I have to pause every minute to get it close to synced up again. Kind of a bummer :/

If y'all haven't watched The Martian yet, you should definitely add it to your list. It's very different to PHM as far as the story goes, but it's fantastic.
