Y'all...I'm surprised Cody made it through this one...and myself. Definitely a different take of a Mummy movie but we definitely see more of the Evil Dead similarities. We love those movies so we had a fun time with this one! However, we suggest you do not eat anything while watching 😭

This movie is Rated R and so is this reaction. Viewer Discretion is Advised.

The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

This film is such a gory, rocking, glorious good time. Managing to walk a high tightrope (with no safety net) between pitch black humor and a gory as hell nightmare, Cronin does it again and delivers a thoroughly enjoyable, tautly paced, putrid in all the best ways reinterpretation of a tried and true classic. Oh how I’ve been waiting for your reactions to this one 😏

Along with Hokum, this is on my watch list for tonight or tomorrow, so I'll be back

That was an impressive number of questionable parenting decisions for one movie.

I watched this at the cinema and ive never been that nauseous from a movie ever. Also even though the funeral/wake scene was traumatic as hell im betting those two ladies are going to have great gossip for the next decade. So good for them i guess haha.

lynseypie

Wow so glad I was not snacking during this one 🫣

Sergio’s jokes are the best. It’s a face down not a face lift. 😭

I loved this version!!! It by far surpassed all others. I'm not a Fan on the Brenden Fraser version but I loved this and Tom Cruise version. I'm so happy y'all watched this.

I was not paying attention to this movie at all before it was released. Never watched any mummy related movie that I can think of, and the name Lee Cronin didn't mean anything to me, was just aware it was a movie coming out. Don't watch trailers either, but I have to if I go to the Alamo Drafthouse. This trailer was playing and I was like wtf is this?!? For once seeing a trailer made me go see a film lol! This is Evil Dead Exorcist, but I really enjoyed it! Also the teacher was final girl in Evil Dead Rise!

Well THAT took a gruesome turn. If some random person came up & started doing close up magic out of nowhere I’d be running the opposite direction. I didn’t expect this movie to be so emotional. Okay gore 🙌🏼 I can’t imagine having a child go missing & finding them 8 years later. I loved the grandma’s attitude and demeanor. Dude when she head-butted the grandma tho! 🤯 “Death drop…emphasis on death” 😂 Not the toenails! Hate nail scenes. Digging into the leg was WILD 😳 Good thing I had my pedicure BEFORE I watched this. As soon as Katie was practicing Morse code I knew that’d come back into play. The little sister kept me laughing with her delivery of all the curse words. Not knocking the dentures out. Poor grandma 😭 I was waiting this entire movie for this family to show any sense of urgency. It was driving me crazy. THAT WAKE SCENE was pure insanity! 🤯 Bravo acting all around. Everyone possessed did fantastic 👏🏼 The entire mummification process was crazy! That whole final act was chaos! 🤯 I had a feeling the dad would want to switch places with Katie. Loved the ending twist tho! I had no expectations going into this movie but hot damn. I really enjoyed this one. It had a little of everything. Emotional, comedic & straight up chaotic gore. The cinematography, practical & other effects, & gore were great. The closeups were so unsettling. Absolutely obsessed with this reaction! Y’all were hanging by a thread but you survived. Proud of y’all 🖤

I was so excited to watch this, but I want to do a first watch with y'all! What a bloody, nail-ripping, teeth-losing journey!

Midnight Crypt Worx

I'm pretty sure this is in the same universe as the evil dead.

Yin Yang

Did anyone mention that this movie is connected to the Evil Dead universe?

I had a fun time with Lee Cronin’s The Mummy overall, but the script really falls apart if you think about it for more than five minutes. The family barely communicates, nobody watches the children despite obvious danger, and Zaki basically has to fly in from Egypt to explain the movie to everyone. The ending is what really lost me, though. The film spends two hours building this ancient unstoppable curse, then suddenly the family successfully performs a ritual nobody has ever done before under extreme pressure. At that point, why can’t they just save the father too with more preparation? The movie accidentally turns the curse into a manageable problem instead of cosmic horror. The possession rules are also all over the place. Sometimes the victim is completely gone, sometimes they’re trapped inside, sometimes they can speak normally for emotional scenes. It feels like the mythology changes depending on what the scene needs. Still entertaining, though. Great atmosphere, creepy imagery, and some genuinely tense sequences. Fun ride. Just not a particularly tight script.

i got Natalie Grace mixed up with Natalia Grace and i was really REALLY confused for a bit

ngl the ending ruined it for me, i feel like the movie suffered from a lack of commitment. they just took away all the impactful consequences that were supposed to make the movie scary and emotional. everyone was magically fine even the girl who was locked away for years, no food or water and even ripped off her skin? the dad's sacrifice doesn't really have the same impact since he also came out fine? hell even the woman who was shot and bleeding out survived. the movie had scary scenes but the ending made everything seem less scary in hindsight like there were basically no stakes. bodies should've been dropping left and right, instead the death toll stands at 1 person (not counting side characters). didn't really stick the landing imo

We’re gonna need an obsession full watch ASAP

characters eating insects... it's always so effective at making me grossed out

SPOILERS BELOW I'm not done yet but the way I SCREAMED at the nail scene (with my windows fully open, whoops). I was praying they'd cut her nails when we saw her feet but to go in again with the clippers after a nail popped off?! No way. Girl lord girl get a dremel
