Damon goes to Georgia to suprise an old flame. Guys, I dont know if we can handle all these twist moments. This is a whole damn soap opera with Vampires 😂

One of my favorite episodes from season 1...it was so nice to see Damon acting somewhat normal for once and Elena letting loose and having fun lol

Kate

TVD truly does cram a whole season of plotlines into one episode

DkLounge

You guys were making jokes on whether or not Anna was trustworthy, but you missed the part where Damon tells Elena that vampires can't reproduce so she doesn't have vampire blood in her

SpikesEcho

Gina Torres baby 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Goddess

The Horror Bandwagon

Nah we got that after lol but thanks for reminding us! Also who knows maybe that’ll change down the line and I don’t want to know whether it does or not! Plus our mistrust in Anna was still quite valid and needed to be expressed. lol

TVD writers room: "Okay girls so how are we gagging today" 😭 Gina Torres QUEEN MOTHERRRR I almost forgot she was on this show, lol. That's Angel, Hannibal, and TVD so far. Time for you guys to watch Firefly and Suits!

The Horror Bandwagon

Girl, I’m gagged. I’m clogged up at this point 😂 but honestly give us more lol Yesss loved seeing her in this and I think we will have to watch those…hopefully soon!

SpikesEcho

It's always weird to me that Elena has progressed in her relationship to sleeping with Stefan, yet hasn't asked him any of the basic vampire-related body questions (like how he can eat food) and has to ask Damon? Was she not comfortable asking Stefan? I always get the impression Stefan being a vampire is a topic they largely avoid or side-step as much as possible

SpikesEcho

Damon dragging Elena along to see an ex, to help him free another ex, while sharing a ton of bonding moments with Elena, is a WILD storyline to juggle yet they pull it off perfectly 😂

I always say that Ep 11 is when the show becomes itself, so if you loved this ep, you'll love what's ahead! I also feel like this is the first ep where we see the real Damon--he can be charming and fun and incredibly loyal to those he cares about, but he's also chaotic and impulsive and makes terrible, short-sighted decisions with little thought to the consequences. Those qualities make for a flawed but compelling TV character that is perfect for a show like this, because you never know what he's going to do next. Regarding Damon's lack of medical care: my personal read on this is that if Elena's condition worsened, Damon would just give her vampire blood to heal her, which is why he's not overly fussed about her injuries. The show actually filmed in Georgia, so this road trip was a little nod to their filming location.

"This is giving dead wife music." Iconic.

lauren

I understand finding Stefan's actions creepy, it doesn't help that some of his season 1 voice over lines sound like Joe from You lol

SpikesEcho

The backstory they give for Stefan here concerning Elena poisons the foundations of this relationship for me in big ways. It's unacceptable. And they skippidy-skip right by it -- and what should be Elena's horror learning it -- to drop another bombshell on her about her adoption. Which Stefan throws out there for NO REASON. Surnames and bloodlines are NOT the same thing. It would be entirely irrelevant that she has the last name Gilbert compared to Katherine's being Pierce. It's nonsense and feels like a very convenient deflection from Stefan taking accountability for fasley manipulating this girl into a relationship just cause he caught feelings while stalking her. Then to make her immediately feel distrust in her family for not telling her she's adopted, alongside revealing he's her savior so she feels especially trustful and grateful to him. It's just a confluence of way too many filtered truths that can only manipulate. Such an ick for me.

Jess

When I are these hit youtube?

SpikesEcho

Sergio and I on the same exact page 😂😂 I can't personally imagine many things more horrific than to fall in love with someone hard and fast, sleep with him, THEN learn the moment I met him he actually knew *everything* about me already and had orchestrated our first meetings. And every experience after with him is tainted by his pre-knowledge of me, him keeping me totally in the dark about it while I think we're sharing the same experiences with the same knowledge/understanding of things. Even AFTER I learn his vampire secret. Even AFTER he knows secrets are a hard boundary for me. I think the writers were relying on the adolescent audience to not clock how fked up this is and to think his "obsession" with "having to know Elena/be with her" was romantic. But my adult ass is just 🤢🤢🤢🤢

ashley kuate

I mean Damon was the first one to bring up Katherine, and even though he was just trying to be messy, I think it just shows the difference between the two brothers. Damon's blunt and honest, while Stefan is secretive and kinda manipulative. Maybe it is about comfortability, and also assuming that Damon would just give her a straight answer

lunasera

I think the reason Lexi's boyfriend was able to beat up Damon was because Gina's kiss at the beginning had vervain, so the reason she was acting so happy to see him was just to throw him off guard and weaken him.

RJC-29

Pleaase watch Firefly! You won't be disappointed. Gina Torres is fantastic in it.

SpikesEcho

They seriously need to 😭

SpikesEcho

Are they saying Grams led one of the biggest civil rights movements in their area when she was like 13-15yrs old?? 😂 So weird for them to have her say she was barely a teenager

SpikesEcho

Elena definitely needed that timeout/escape from her life

SpikesEcho

And they repeat that voiceover at the start of each episode 😭😂

RavenLord

Near Dark is a dark, creepy, vampire movie starring Lance Henriksen, Adrian Pasdar, and the late, great Bill Paxton. There's also Subspecies from the same era, that did not shy away from the grotesque vampire Nosferatu-style rather than a seductive beast. It's not as well done as Near Dark, but it's still worth a watch, and it was filmed in Romania, which is near and dear to my heart because that is some of my ancestors' home country. They literally lived in Transylvania! You've no idea how thrilled I was to discover that.

Avril Gibson

Vampire Diaries absolutely eats through plot. You’ll get at least 2 big story arcs per season. It’s fantastic!

Astoria

What we need to consider now, given the information Stefan gave Elena. Is Elena 16? 17? And she looks exactly like Kathrine. That means she must have been in that age range when she became a vampire, and she must have had a child BEFORE that for the theory to make sense. Well, considering that Katherine is quite old, it’s not that unusual given her age, but it’s the sort of thought that somehow feels wrong at the first glance.

Astoria

And the theory as to why her father didn’t want to be rescued first is... interesting. Because that’s perfectly normal parental behaviour in a life-threatening situation. Children first, even if you know you’ll die in the mean time, as long as your child is safe, everything else is secondary at that moment.

Simply Faded

I remember watching Big Wolf on Campus back in the day, but so often I feel like it was a made up memory because no one around me ever seemed to remember it! Good episode!

Austin

fun fact: the show is actually filmed in Covington, Georgia

Austin

or WAS actually filmed i should say lol

Austin

i know i left like 2 other comments but im working and just thought i dont know if anybody told yall already but Michael Trevino (Tyler) was also in Charmed, season 8 when Billie puts on that belt and becomes super woman i believe its that episode at least) lmao

SpikesEcho

Wait, really? I don't remember him

Kate Murphy

Another amazing reaction, thanks! I always thought Damon just healed her with blood and was keeping her with him to make sure she didn’t die. That’s why he was so confident she was fine - and why he was evasive when she asked why he brought her along.

boleynns

I have things to say, but I can't say them 😅 Great episode! I love Bonnie's grandmother so much (I think for sure because I was also extremely close to my grandmother, so totally identify with their relationship), and I'd totally forgotten that Stefan had met her in the past so that was fun to re-learn.

Justine

Every time I watch this episode I'm reminded that I would absolutely let Damon ruin my life 🫠

Joshua Shields

"This is Giving Death Wife Music" might genuinely be the Horror Bandwagon's best ever one-liner.

Kimberly S. (Rawr)

“This is giving dead wife music” had me dying 😂 It was nice seeing Damon help Elena from the wreck. I liked their dynamic on their impromptu road trip. Jasmine! Love seeing cameos from the other shows during these rewatches. Oop Bonnie’s powers are gone. I love how Grams is no nonsense. Hearing Stefan & her past was great. Jeremy & Anna’s library scene was cute. Bonnie falling through the ground was wild. The Salvatore brothers jumpscaring all episode tho. Not Elena getting kidnapped. Bree selling out Damon because of Lexi was so real but I feel bad for the repercussions. Oof Stefan dropping some backstory. The twists. He saved her from the wreck. Not dropping the adoption tea ☕️ Oop Jeremy digging into the town’s vampire lore. That ending reveal with Alaric’s wife & Damon! 🤯 This show does shock & awe so well 👏🏽 A fantastic episode. Absolutely loved this reaction & breakdown from y’all 🖤

KatieBee

I love how fast this show moves. Season 1 and they go ahead and shoot their shot, "she's adopted!" Dun dun duhnnnnnnnn 😂

card

Honestly, my biggest gripe is that they hired and paid Gina Torres to be this badass Southern elder witch... and didn't let her do SHIT when Damon was about to kill her 😭 We saw how Emily (in Bonnie's body) flung Damon around. How are you gonna get GINA TORRES as your first big witch and not let her do a SINGLE SPELL or use ANY powers 😭 This should've been all of our first clue on how this show... you know what, lemme keep my mouth shut 😂

Joshua Shields

i will also ask you add a reaction to a single episode of Cleopatra 2525 to your list of Gina Torres shows to check @The Horror Bandwagon . The premise of that series is WILD - when an exotic dancer's breast augmentation surgery goes wrong, she wakes up centuries later in a future controlled by robot ai and becomes the 3rd member of a futuristic Charlie's Angels in order to reclaim the surface world for humanity.

Kitty Underwood

He's in the Alice in Wonderland episode, he's one of the "Alice" kids they get, probably named Alex or something

Kitty Underwood

Elena is 17, her birthday is at some point during summer vacation. She might have been 16 when her parents' car went over the bridge

Austin

yes!! it was on the tip of my tongue

Shannon Turner

this show is twist after twist, cliffhanger after cliffhanger, and it should feel overly-dramatic, Days-of-our-Lives-ish but it's woven together so well it just WORKS, and leaves you thirsty for more every damn time

Robke

She had no idea he was coming, that's quite obvious, especially when she makes the phone call to the bf saying 'guess who just showed up'. Besides if it contained vervain, Damon would've felt it right away, just like after drinking Carolines blood after Stefan spiked her drink with vervain. To me it looked like Damon wasn't bothered to fight back as he knew this beating was deserved, also the bf seemed to have successfully injured him enough so Damon couldn't actually get up. Lexi was older and stronger than Damon, so maybe the bf is also an old-ish vamp who is strong.

lunasera

I didn't get the impression Lexi's boyfriend was that old. Won't say more at the moment, but it's not like Damon to just let someone kill him if he isn't weakened.

Courtney Kirk

One of my favorite episodes in season 1! the whole trip and bar scenes with Damon and Elena are so great. Love when Damon says "Seriously, we're in Georgia." because the show was shot in Georgia 😂.

Amanda Tardin

i love how Damon is a short king

Hollie

Yes Gina Torres my goddess! I am patiently not patiently waiting for you to get around to Firefly.🥺

Jeremy Montanez

I have such a love/hate for Damon. He's a monster and evil as hell he killed what would have been my favorite character Lexi, but he's funny and at times does show humanity as much as he can. I love Lexi she brought out the kid almost in Stefan as oppose to his very monotone almost Buffy Angelesque personality. I like Elena I like how she doesn't take crap from Stefan and demands truth. I vowed like I did for buffy that I'd never watch this, I'm loving it!!!! I already like Anna and I see a relationship happening but I felt sorry for her she's such a sweet heart.

Jeremy Montanez

Nooooo he just walks around every question she has.

Robke

Cody, your reasoning for why Elenas father asked for her to be saved first was shockingly hilarious😅 why does it have to be her bloodline? It's her dad!! They were both dying so of course he prioritised his child. So if Elena was his biological daughter and Stephen showed up underwater, would he be like: "Me first!! Let that bitch drown"🤣

Trinity Bernhardt

I really couldn't fault Lexi's boyfriend. Damon deserved it. Gina Torres is a Queen! I love her in everything.

Trinity Bernhardt

I feel bad for Jenna. It wasn't up to her to keep the secret while her parents lived and it would be amazingly cruel to immediately tell her after they died. I understand Elena being upset, but it isn't Jenna's fault. I don't agree with keeping adoption secret period, but that wasn't Jenna's choice.

Liv Pasquarelli

omg i forgot jenny from the L word was in this, iconic. she is the drama.

B-dad

He’s like 5ft 10. Not short. Leave my baby alone!!

Lisa Elizabeth

Hi again! Now that I’m all caught up on TB, I’m here to catch up on TVD ❤️

Laura

Me and my friends quote that ‘shes a dead ringer for katherine’ line all the time lmfao
