Pie

This episode was primarily filmed in Squamish, British Columbia.

Lisa - Marie

Omg before I even click this one the bear popped in my mind. so excited to see the reaction

ja0netholmes

An all time great. I love this episode so badddd

RavenLord

Have you two seen the movie Wishmaster from the late 90s? If not, that should go on your list. So fun, in a horror kind of way. I probably should have mentioned it when you watched the Supernatural djinn episode, but I just thought of it now because of the wishing well.

boleynns

This episode is so whimsical, I absolutely LOVE it — the bear was endlessly hilarious and memorable.

Ebony

This episode always makes me giggle. It’s got it all, depressed teddy bear, Dean getting beat up by a kid, an invisible teenage idiot. A gift that keeps on giving 😭

Pie

Dean is breaking my heart. I’m glad he explained to Sam why he can’t talk about hell, and that Sam accepts it. We need a therapist for hunters. And I reckon Dean’s ‘I’m so straight and macho’ attitude stems from the same place as his drinking.

The Horror Bandwagon

Oh my god we have!! I don't know why we didn't think to mention it here lol I think we also mentioned that movie in the Djinn episode too. Definitely a campy fun time of a movie

Jackson Potluck

One of my favorites again. That teddy bear 😂

Claire Dactyl

The teddy bear existential crisis is definitely one of the darker Supernatural stories 🫣 🐻

Martelo

One of my faves❤️ Also the opening, I always think; Ron Wesley is that you?! lol Also also! “WERE TEDDY BEAR DOCTORS 🐻”

Kammy

Loooooooove this one!!!

Cass&Jason

"And on Thursdays, we're teddy bear doctors." I quote that line entirely too often. The teddy bear in an existential crisis is one of my favorite (non-recurring) characters. ETA Sadly, the BTS of this episode is tragic. The "kneel before Todd" kid kind of lost it and, uh... killed his mom. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Charlie B

Not so fun fact, the actor who played the bullied kid is in prison now for murdering his mum

RavenLord

If you found it to be campy fun, you probably would enjoy the relatively low budget vampire movie Subspecies. Something tells me it would be a fun horror time for all, if you like creepy Nosferatu vampires. Maybe around Halloween this year, lol. 😄 I am so, so happy I re-subscribed. You two are so much fun to watch shows with. And you choose some awesome ones. The four series right now? *chef's kiss* Perfection.

YoursUNTRULY

Most if not all of this series was shot in Vancouver and surrounding areas in British Columbia 🇨🇦, and you're always welcome 😉 🥰 There's a Bigfoot out there goddammit and he's a son of bitch! 🤣 I have a lot of quotes from this episode that live rent free in my head

Purple Nurple

Supernatural was filmed in and around Vancouver from episode 2 onwards until the very end. This was Squamish and I've been up that way and it's beautiful. There's the Sea to Sky gondola up a mountain nearby and it's definitely worth it. If you ever go to Vancouver you definitely need to go see some filming locations, hire a car and go to Squamish, Steveston and many other places.

Amanda Collins

You two are the best. Absolutely my favorite. Were my favorite long before admitting not to be the authority on the difference between sasquatch and bigfoot. If y'all ever started selling mugs, shirts, bumper stickers, etc with some of your gems of wisdom from your reactions I'm sure y'alled make a KILLING.

Karia_Winchester

When Sam is talking to Candice, the lady from the beginning, he tells her he's writing a book about the "Supernatural", that was the original plot for Supernatural. Two men going around and writing stories about ghosts and monsters. Their names weren't the same and they weren't originally driving the Impala.

KatieBee

Sergio saying "that's assault!!" after Sam threatened to "slap him" with a health violation code is iconic. Iconic!!!

Nyssa Rawther 🍉🔻

The bear is just too iconic. As hilarious as he is...I get it. I'd be depressed af too if I learned life is real

Susie

I find it strange when people believe that Dean's jokes are over the top. I have 2 brothers and I've been in earshot of them and their friends. Dean's jokes and behaviors are more true to life in my experience than even Sam. Sure there were guys similar to Sam, but far more Deans out there, especially teens and young men. In fact, Dean is very tame compared to some of what I experienced on a daily basis as a teenage girl getting hit on and cat called by young and middle aged men. It didn't stop either, it continued on when I was a young woman. So Dean may be over the top to many people who grew up in different parts of the country and world than I did perhaps, but he never seemed out of the ordinary to me. Also, I found the whole Teddy bear fiasco to be hilarious LOL.

Susie

I was just explaining how I find it really strange that Dean's so-called "I'm so straight" thing seems odd to so many people. I have 2 brothers and I have heard similar things from them and their buddies when I was in earshot of them. I also experienced much worse from grown men as a teenage girl by both young and middle aged men. I suppose people grew up in more sheltered neighborhoods than I did, because Dean behaves very normal to me.

Susie

I heard Eric say that originally it was only one guy that he wanted to go around as a reporter or posing as a reporter. He kept having to come up with different ideas before they gave the green light to the story that we got.

Karia_Winchester

Thats right. I knew the premise was way different, but had a similar vibe. I'm glad he went with this version.

Nancy Nicolai

Supernatural shoots in and around Vancouver so you probably could Google the episode & ask what's the name of the town to find out what town they shot it in✌️

Brooke Rhea

So everyone, a little true crime trivia for you. The kid who plays Todd is Ryan Grantham. He became really famous in Diary of a wimpy kid. Years later he murdered his mother, and was going to do a school shooting before turning himself into authorities. Crazy! As far as the episode goes, I love this one. Ted Raimi is an icon. So cool to have him here. Loved that Dean opened up about hell. Dean comes across as this big womanizer/tough guy, but it's all a cover. He's just a big softie 🤗

BatmanFanGirl

I think it's a change in perspective with younger viewers. Crude jokes about women or the womanizing that Dean does is just not socially acceptable the way it was once over looked.

LeslieW

This is a fun ep, Loved the teddy bear!! Although what Wes did is so very wrong and just... its rape to be blunt. And his only consequence was losing the girl. At least the invisible kid got ran over so it's some kinda consequence. On Buffy Zander wasn't having sex with the girls under the spell so i give him props for not taking advantage of an accidental spell. SPN was filmed in Vancouver, Canada as others have said and as the parent of a Trans child I can say yes, safe for you to go.

Amanda Hoffmann

You know, I never really thought much about Dean being overly-Deanish this season. But that’s interesting now that you mention it. Who knows if the writers did it on purpose or. It. But if they did, it could be part of how he copes. Drinking, eating, womanizing. They could all be distractions.

Alise Lynch

Bigfoot, sasquatch, yeti, swamp ape, etc are all names for the same thing.

L

He's also such a big nerd even tho he'll deny it forever lolol

Emily Prentiss

I love this episode and your channel so much! It would be so cool if you could react to Criminal Minds if you haven’t watched it already. Such a good and interesting show (maybe not so much the late seasons but still my fave) Anyway, keep making vids I love watching them🤍

Susie

Oh I do realize that attitudes have changed with many of the younger viewers ( at least publicly ). Sergio and Cody even recognize the time that this show came out, but I think they sometimes forget as the series is going on. Perhaps not, it's just an impression. My only point is that Dean's jokes and statements are not at all out of the ordinary for a man of that time.

The Horror Bandwagon

Hey! Nope we didn’t forget and Yes we are fully aware of the time it was made as we also heard stuff like this growing up. That’s why I said “You know us we can take a joke” Plus these jokes have been made before in supernatural and we’ve heard plenty of them in the previous shows we have watched and we called it out there too. So we have experience under our belt lol But our reactions are still authentic to being surprised to hearing them. Ex: Dean considering hooking up with a minor in his jail bait joke. I’m sure that wasn’t acceptable in the early 2000’s either lol I think all of us would agree that some lines don’t age well. Plus I also didn’t say they were over the top, I said they used these jokes much more often than usual where I noticed it. As opposed to here and there. We know it’s a part of Dean’s character and it’s in no way knocking him down for it especially with what he’s going through. I’m more calling it out from the writers perspective. Really hope that clears things up!

Stacey H

Great reaction! This ep is so weird. I love Audrey. And Teddy having an existential crisis is crazy. I wss relieved that Dean at least told Sam that he remembers hell.

Gian Buccicardi

The new movie obsession is literally the plot of this episode and I just find it funny

Heather

Wasn’t he also plotting to kill Justin Trudeau?

Susie

Oh no, I didn't mean that you said over the top. A lot of my comments were actually not directed at anything you said, it was more of a general kind of thing. Dean's character, jokes and statements are often scrutinized and put under a microscope because people in general do not consider the time that the show came out. I know that you guys are aware of this, but when you were surprised I didn't know if you'd forgotten lol. Unfortunately, Dean is written by more than one writer and when something comes up as in this case, we can only look to that writer. In any case, I really do appreciate you taking the time to reply to me. That was very kind of you! Have a goodnight and sleep tight!

Cass&Jason

I believe that was one of the allegations, along with a mass shooting, but he didn't do either.

Astoria

I think what we can say is that Sam takes things like the coin seriously and wouldn’t mess around with it. He’s all too aware that ‘all magic comes with a price’, as Rumple from OUAT would say. He went through a phase where he saw things a bit differently, but that was all about saving Dean's soul. I'm thinking of the whole 'eternal life through science and foreign organs and body parts' thing. But now that Dean's back, there are angels, and God has basically confirmed he exists, it's different.

Eris

It was implied by them hitting him that he was becoming unable to control when he went invisible.

Rebecca Snyder

Man, I remember this episode fucked me up the first time I watched it lol. (Still kinda does tbh.) The teddy bear!! Weirdly funny, but also kinda traumatizing haha

rose mnor

Ted Raimi is a fan of the show. Ted made it his habit to tell people when they did a good job. So, he wrote an email to Eric Kripke and said, "Hey, great job with the show. And then Eric said why don't you come in and talk to me for a minute, say hello. I said, okay." He met with Eric, and he wanted to put Ted in the show. Four days later, he was asked to come in and do a bit. So that's how that went. [Source: SPNThenAndNow Podcast Wishful Thinking with Ted Raimi (S4EP8) YouTube.]

Kimberly S. (Rawr)

Not an invisible peeping Tom 🤦🏽‍♀️ The woman Sam interviewed saying the weirdest thing about her ghost encounter. Was it helping her up 😂 The real life teddy bear was wild! The girl describing him as being “ouch in the head sad, says weird stuff & smells like the bus” had me dying 💀 The teddy bear being so distraught at the state of the world was so real. Poor thing was going through it. Dean using the wishing well to order a sandwich tho 😂 Them making up code violations was so funny. That poor restaurant owner tho. “Kneel before Todd!” He was too adorable being menacing to the older kids. Him absolutely clocking Dean was insane. Sam getting struck by lightning out of nowhere was crazy. Absolutely loved Dean helping the kid out with the bullies. So sweet. Aww the teddy bear with the stuffing bandaged tho. That ending conversation was so good! Jensen’s acting 🙌🏼 He never fails to bring out the emotions in me. It totally makes sense why he hasn’t talked about his time in hell. Sam wouldn’t truly understand by not experiencing it himself. At the end of the day they both wanna be there for each other but they’re both dealing with their own issues that the other hasn’t/isn’t going through like Sam & his demon blood & powers & Dean’s time in hell & the toll it took on him. Fantastic reaction & breakdown y’all 🖤

kiara

Depressed teddy is my favorite part of this episode 🤣

Shannon Turner

I love the writing of this final scene. Sometimes we push too much the "you need to share" writing with characters who've experienced trauma, but it isn't always good for them, especially not if they're not in the right headspace for it yet. ESPECIALLY with family/friends, this can traumatise your loved ones or ruin the comfort of those relationships and make everything that much more difficult. The boys definitely need dedicated therapists!

Ellorna

Remember that any wish made with the coin goes bad and that is why Sam told Dean not to eat the sandwich. Making a wish that applies to his brother with a cursed coin would be an awful thing to do.

Coty Paape

TEA PARTIES??? is that all there is?? Lol

Elisia

You know on the surface this is a funny, kind of light hearted episode… but there is a massive subtextual theme here that is actually really important- consent. More specifically, the consequences of taking someone else’s consent away from them. Also, there is a really interesting theme being set up this season as well so far… every time Sam tries to do what he thinks is right, there is some kind of backlash. Every time Dean does what he thinks is right… it sets him at odds with his brother. Just an interesting observation.

Ryan Penn

Kinda crazy how you guys are reacting to this right after Obsession came out, the movie definitely reminded me of this episode!

CJGardner

I just wanted to say that I noticed how sweet and generous you two are to your friend Nicksaysboo (from his latest post). Friends like you should be everyone's goals :-)

Jolie DuBois

Somewhere in Canada. They are ALWAYS in Canada. That’s where they shoot

Jolie DuBois

Not so fun fact: The little boy, Todd? Is currently serving a sentence for offing his own mom. 😬

Tom

Sergio remember you have to save the people 😂

Cyndy

Yeah, Dean is a bit over the top with his heterosexuality...the cheerleader comment, the naked women comment. To me, it seems at odds with his character. He's a genuinely decent guy. So, it's.. . interesting. Food for thought.

Gaby

It's really sad if you think about it. Anytime we want to explain how something trully awful is, we say it's "hell", that is THE word to describe the absolute worst. So yes, there would be no words to explain how terrible it actually was. My heart breaks for Dean.

Rhast

The suicidal teddy bear will be a memory you will never forget. Yeah, Dean might be over acting to avoid trauma.

Zach Davis

Great episode! And NOT spoiler but shows the range of acting, one of the bullies in this episode plays a bullied nerd in a season 5 episode. Can't wait for you to watch that, one of my fave eps.

IneffableEnby

OMG, I just realized that that guy's wish for her to love her is EXACTLY like that Obsession movie that came out just recently!

faemeadows

"i wish shed love me more than anything" . i just saw obsession tonight, very weird coincidence lol. Great movie, would really love to see you guys to react to it when it streams.

Anthony

Sam would actually be a great writer for a book on Supernatural lol I love how you guy already know Dean’s type of adult magazine lol Damn not Dean getting punked by a little kid! Lol The boys in the background as Ted Raimi continually gets kissed is one the funniest shots this season Jared always has some great expressions as he’s walking away. Earlier when he lied to the little girl about being a teddy bear doctor then with pretending to be scared of the boy so he wouldn’t get bullied anymore. The stuffing coming out the back of the teddy bear 💀 What a performance by Jensen at the end 👏

Kiki Varas

Well I get your point and I think it definitely fits Deans character bc he reys to be macho but is dealing with a lot of stuff inside. However what I disagree with you on that just bc it’s normalized for men to say disgusting and awful things that doesn’t mean it makes it okay. Obviously toxic masculinity exists and misogyny. So just bc that’s normalized doesn’t mean it’s weird to point that out. So in real life that is gross and shouldn’t be normalized. But Dean as a character I understand why he acts like that and it makes sense with the way he was raised but that doesn’t mean that makes it fine. It just makes it understandable for his character and makes sense with the things he has went through. So obviously the writing might change depending on who’s writing it but I agree with you that it fits his character. But in real life that type of personality isn’t the greatest and should get a therapist or something. So I get that for some ppl it just might get a little annoying to listen to but it isn’t out of character for Dean especially with what he’s been through.

Jessica

Yes he’s the same. His idea was to kill Justin and I think a mass shooting. He killed his own mother because he was thinking he would put her out of her misery so she didn’t witness what he was about to do. And I believe after he killed her he was on his way to kill Justin. He changed his mind and he turned himself in I believe. He was charged with second degree murder. I just looked it up. I don’t think he was planning a mass shooting I think he just wanted to kill the prime minister Justin I can’t spell his last name. But he did turn himself in and changed his mind on the way to driving to kill him. Sadly he killed his mother . He’s serving a life sentence.

bloodybardot

Omg, was the "girlfriend" part an inspiration for Obsession?!

Isaac

There's a new movie out called Obsession and it reminded me SO much of this episode lmao. So many lines from this episode are quotable. 😭

SnowMart

“There’s a Bigfoot out there dammit, and he’s a sonofabitch” is a sequence of words that’s etched into my DNA forever.

Bex

Thanks for acknowledging the fact that this poor woman was SAed, it's (at places) such a fun episode that people often oversee such things. And I really hate when they portray Dean as this "pervy" guy. Because I think it mostly contradicts with how we see him usually act with women. But yeah it's obviously the writers fault.

~Athena~

Gotta watch Obsession after this guys! lol

Cory

It's sad that you have to consider if a place is gay friendly before you visit.

I'm just Joe King

They actually should be afraid of that Kid. He literally grew up to be an actual murderer. He's in jail now for killing his mother and threatening to kill Justin Trudeau. It is insane.

Alison Diem

I have FEELINGS about this episode. CW: discussion of SA I know things were different in 2008 (I was 29 back then and I remember it)- and that it was a pre-Me Too movement world, but I think it's okay to talk about how this episode problematic and sad. Surface level, this episode is really funny, but ultimately the SA elements make it really gross for me. The "humorous" spin on the invisible kid in the showers is AWFUL. Sam does get him out of there and reprimands him but it's played more lighthearted than a serious criminal behavior. If the kid thought it was okay, even after his teacher fell down the stairs and was injured, and kept doing it anyway, that's a serious red flag. That's a kid who will take sexual advantage of drunk girls, if not worse, and I worry for the girls and women he eventually encounters in his life. Most importantly, though, is Wes's (mental and, I am certain, physical) rape of Hope. He forced her into a "relationship" with him without her consent and you cannot convince me he didn't "consummate" their "relationship" before he broke the wish. I'll bet my model Impala that that was the FIRST thing he did. He had her under his control for over a MONTH. They play it for humor when she's trying to apologize to him with a blow job, but that's sexual assault! How is that funny?!? I can't decide if it's a blessing that she can't remember afterwards or if it's yet another horrific consequence of the coin's curse. Frankly, Wes should be in jail. Initially I thought he was just an example of the guy friend who thinks he deserves more but then we learn she didn't even know him before, and still doesn't when she's returned to herself. I'm not sure which scenario is worse. He keeps her trapped with him, even when we can see those little moments (like when she made him the smack) where her brain seems to be fighting the wish and he SEES it. He totally clocks it, which is why he tries to tell her to do things she liked to do before. That he still fights Sam and Dean to keep his wish reveals his narcissism and, as if it was even a question, removes any chance for his redemption. Yes, he removes the coin, but it was only after he made her a murderer! What does that say about him that THAT needed to happen for him to say, ok, maybe this was a bad choice. If he was willing to do this to someone he thought he LOVED, is he someone who can be trusted with women he doesn't? It's interesting to then compare all of this to Sam's believed entitlement to Dean's torment in Hell. He thinks he's OWED Dean's trauma under the guise of wanting to help but Dean's been making it very clear he doesn't want to talk about it. Sam keeps pushing to the point that Dean has to spell it out directly, clearly upset about even needing to address it. That it takes Sam more than Dean's first request to leave it alone to stop shows his inability to really accept or understand consent. I'm sure feminist!Sam would say that he understands that "no means no" with women and in a sexual context (see: his dealing with the kid in the women's locker room), but "no means no" should apply outside of that, in matters like this, too, and he doesn't respect that. I see his pushiness as selfishness, as well. HE wants to know, for HIM, not really for Dean. HE wants to help, because HE thinks HE should be doing something because that will make HIM feel better, not because he actually has the ability to truly help Dean. I don't think that's a conscious choice, necessarily, but he can't see or accept how toxic that behavior is and is, in fact, hurting Dean instead of helping. That Dean APOLOGIZES for not sharing with Sam is fucked up. He doesn't owe Sam his trauma! I've always seen Dean's time in Hell and how he responds to it as CPTSD: a soldier coming back from being a POW but also like a survivor of sexual assault and torture. He clearly needs help- an actual therapist read into the hunter's world would be great, and maybe even medication for depression, anxiety, etc.- and I'm not saying he should have to carry this alone but it needs to be his CHOICE to share his experience in order to not re-traumatize him or worse, inflict additional harm.

Trinity Bernhardt

I don't think anyone is gonna argue either brother is healthy or someone to emulate in ways outside their heroism and selflessness. Sam's unhealthy coping methods aren't front and center as much as Dean's, but yeah I think most get they are messed up. I am love with Dean, but know that if he existed I wouldn't be dating him without him getting therapy. And I do know there are those who don't get it and want to be just like him, toxic traits and all, but they aren't the type to join in the conversations around behavior.

Trinity Bernhardt

He was on his way to Trudeau, stopped and considered a mass shooting, then turned himself in. It was so sad. A mix of mental health, drugs, and probably pressures of his career. I had wanted "I kneel before Todd" on a tshirt for so long until that happened. That poor woman.

Trinity Bernhardt

Only 2 episodes are filmed outside Vancouver. Pilot and one other. Amazing how they did so well creating the feel of other cities. Though there are clues with weather and things outside their control.

E

This is an unhinged episode I love it. And yeah, they filmed the whole show here in Vancouver (and BC), where I live!

minkit

watching this episode after Obsession and this could've gone so much worse lololol

Flubbedsquid

"There's a bigfoot out there, damn it, and he's a son of a bitch" top tier Supernatural quote.

rickie woodson

Sasquatch and big foot are different words for the same thing. Big foot is from the states, sasquatch from Canada. Yeti is his ice cousin

rickie woodson

Don't like how they are demonizing and simplifying my goddess. Tiamat is so much more then chaos. She is the oceans and she is the mother of the elder gods.

rickie woodson

ted raimi? no, he's "JOXOR! HE's JOXOR THE MIGHTY!!!!!!!!"
