Scene with Grams and Damon was amazing, "I'm not Bonnie, you don't wanna mess with me! Also, I agreed with Grams wanting to keep all the vamps in there but I also understood why Bonnie didn't agree with it... it was difficult. I loved Jeremy searching about vampires. The Katherine reveal was amazing! "She knew where you were, Damon. She didn't care." and that ending of the Tomb still being opened! Overall the whole episode was great.

DkLounge

There was definately chemistry between Elena's actress Nina Dobrev and Damon's actor Ian Somerholder given that they ended up dating for a few years irl after season 1

SpikesEcho

Ngl, the way Grams talks to Damon is wild to me.....It was Emily, Grams' ancestor, who made these promises to Damon and others and went out of her way to save all the vampires, promising people they'd see them again. And Damon honored the deal with Emily by saving her children and making sure her familial line continued, producing Grams and Bonnie. And again EMILY who betrayed the deal with Damon, resulting in his retaliations, which Emily set Bonnie up to take.

Tia

"Spirits talk, Mr. Salvatore, and so does my granddaughter." A few episodes ago Damon was almost successful in killing Bonnie and he's continued to be trash to Bonnie since that so Grams reaction is justified.

Amanda Tardin

all those years later and just now i'm thinking abt how Jeremy looks sm like Sam Winchester lmaoo

SpikesEcho

....I'm just going to refer you back to what my comment said, because for some reason it didn't compute. There's nothing Damon has done with Bonnie that isn't Emily's fault, setting her own family up to take the fall and repurcuasions of her betraying her promises/plans with Damon and others.

Emily Prentiss

lol you guys aren’t the only ones who wanted enemies to lovers with Jeremy and Tyler😭

Amanda Tardin

omg this episode breaks my heart, such a good twist

Santiago

Kat Graham: Bonnie is amazing on this show. This is her first killer scene there at the end. She has plenty more just like this great performance coming up throughout the show. But I agree, she’s a standout character, primarily because of her acting.

Sarah Rose

The ending of this episode still breaks me. Bonnie’s scream for Elena gets me every time. Grams was just a joy to have on screen. 😭 These past 2 episodes definitely paint Damon in a different light. I always was a Damon girl myself, but watching him realize Katherine never wanted him was a hard watch.

boleynns

The reveal of Katherine not being in the tomb was a huge one! It's one of those reveals that is hard to unlearn when I rewatch the show, so I do tend to be like "Okay, okay, let's get to that detail though"—just because it is, as you both discussed, such a huge part of Damon's purpose to this point, that has now been revealed to be made of smoke. But that is the fun of reactions, is being able to see it all again with new eyes!

Tia

So because of Emily, Grams has to be civil with the monster who tried to kill her grandaughter? Emily did what she did but that has nothing to do with Grams having to be thankful to this monster after what Bonnie told her about him.

SpikesEcho

Bro, WHAT are you talking about? Where do I say she needs to be thankful to Damon? She could keep her guard up with him while not acting like her family isn't to blame for all of this and it's just Damon. She could acknowledging what her family did to him, and the mess her family created. She could also refrain from walking in Emily's footsteps and betraying Damon AGAIN at the tomb, compounding on that bad karma yet again. What exactly are you so worked up at concerning Damon and Bonnie? You're mad Damon started intimidating her after she wouldn't give him the necklace, obstructing the plan EMILY layed out with him? You're mad that he attacks Emily controlling Bonnie's body when EMILY betrays him, destroying the one thing she devised would be needed to make saving his loved one possible? Sorry, both you and Grams have no ground to stand on with this position. She doesn't have to be nice or friendly, but she could refrain from shifting accountability and refrain from betraying someone her family has already betrayed.

Cyndy

So sad about Grams. I loved her character

Julie D

Regarding the tomb spell: Grams said a couple things--1) if they took the spell down, there was no guarantee they'd be able to get it back up again, and 2) if they took it down, she wasn't sure how long they'd be able to hold it down. So she had a lot of uncertainty about what might happen to the barrier if they tried to take it down. One piece of lore to keep in mind regarding how the vampires react to things is what Damon told Logan a few eps back, about how when a human becomes a vampire, all their human emotions and characteristics get amplified. Damon was obsessed with Katherine when he was human, and then all that got amplified even more when he became a vampire, which explains why he was willing to do absolutely anything to rescue her from starving in a tomb for hundreds of years. So it's the most devastating possible thing for him to learn that she didn't give a shit about him this whole time. Loved both reactions to this week's episodes! Many thanks!

Julie D

I was going to say, I have read those fanfics! 😂

Justine

the Katherine build-up is chefs kiss 🤌🏻

Shannon Turner

Elena and Stefan are cute. But the tension between Elena and Damon is PALPABLE. Even in these little moments. The way Elena gets through to Damon to get him out of that tomb... I mean, the actors dated, so there is a lot of real tension there. But even in the writing and direction. The show does such a good job with every little Damon and Elena moment. And I love Caroline. Her character development is top-tier. But you're right, classic the girl having to do all the work in a relationship and yet it isn't viewed as a bad thing because Matt is the "good guy." I generally like Matt, but his Caroline arc is bad publicity for him lol

Shannon Turner

I agree. Grams is a hypocrite, as is Emily. Especially the line about "witches being vampires' playthings" or whatever she said. Honestly, the witches are my least favourite part of this show. It's like the writers didn't know whether to make them powerful or not. Either they're powerful/badass, or they're vampires' playthings; you can't have it both ways. Emily's story/character is so inconsistent

Kitty Underwood

Sad fact, Kat Graham's real life grandma had died shortly before filming this scene, so she was channeling her grief from that into her acting. She's an amazing actress regardless, but that's why that scene is so good and devastating

Miguel

Fun fact Tyler came out in one episode of season 8 of charmed

Kitty Underwood

Also in regards to Matt calling Caroline clingy, in the same conversation, right before calling her clingy, he literally said he didn't know where she was. If she was so clingy, you'd think she'd stay by his side the entire party, not walk around mingling with other people. And just because she held his hand doesn't make her clingy, he literally followed her in his truck and kissed her in the middle of the road in a previous episode, but her holding his hand at a party is "clingy".

Joshua Shields

Not gonna lie, i was peeved with the show throwing away such a legendary actor in Jasmine Guy so soon by killing Grams off. this really is The CW CW'ing hard, continuing the network trend of killing off / writing out older actors.

Julian

I kinda forgot how good Season 1 was. Seasons 2+3 are this show's prime but this is one hell of a good first season, my god.

Cal

A maternal figure in a vampire show??? Sorry, she’s gotta go 😅🥲

SpikesEcho

It's unethical for Grams to support an evil deed committed by the early Founders (Katherine was the only problem vampire, the rest were good people) -- which Emily btw went out of her way to subvert, saving all those people. And it's scummy of Grams to re-betray someone her family has already betrayed, especially after honoring the Bennets legacy AND while their loved one's life is in the balance (because of something devised by a Bennet). It's also disappointing that Grams shifts accountability away from all of this business orchestrated by a Bennet.

Sergio picking up the Jeremy/Tyler enemies to lovers vibes that a lot of us did when we first watched this show 15 years ago... I'm so proud!!!

Anne

something about stefan sitting with Damon not saying anything but just being there even after everything, after saying he can't wait to get rid of him, he still feels for his brother.

Miss Maya

damn.. imagine being ready to die for someone, pinning over them for 150 years, be willing to risk everything to set them free, only to learn they've been living their best life all along not giving a damn about you. Damon is really going through it... This episode is so good

orangeflavor

The way Anna says "She knew where you were, Damon. She didn't care," has stuck with me for years. I don't know, just the actress' intonation or something - it's devastating. And the way Damon looks back at them embracing, reunited, before he walks out the door - what a moving scene. I also think it was a good choice to just have Stefan sit in silence with Damon at the end there. Clearly, each of them had a mess of emotions going on this episode, some of them even contradicting each other, and sometimes trying to articulate that just falls flat in the face of such devastation and loss. And silence doesn't have to mean you're alone. This feels like the first time we've seen them together on screen as brothers, not just the individuals Stefan and Damon. No words, yet the emotion is palpable, and the tragedy of it is blaring.

Irena

NO BECAUSE WHEN I WATCHED THAT NECKLACE SCENE WITH DAMON AND ELENA MY HEART FLUTTERED FOR THE FIRST TIME AS WELL I GET YOU SOOOO BAD

Robke

Yeah it always bothered me too. What is the big deal of holding a guys hand for a few seconds? What is wrong with that showing the 'public' they're together? This must be some teen logic I no longer can relate to, to give importance to such a small thing

Robke

I love that scene. Both of their facial acting were amazing and so expressive. No words said, but we could feel everything

Robke

My favorite eps this season are coming soon🥰 can't wait. You'll keep getting GAGGED I assure you xD

Kimberly S. (Rawr)

The brother tension in this one is crazy. Damon is the king of pettiness 😂 I liked Bonnie & Elena working together to try & get out of their bad situation. Grams telling Damon off was a great scene 👏🏼 The scene where Damon chooses to trust Elena rather than compel her showed a softer side to him. I like Caroline putting herself out there with Matt, but I hate how back & forth Matt is about their potential relationship. Like are you in or out? Make up your mind. He also can be kinda judgmental which I don’t like. The whole cemetery tomb plot was so messy. Stefan lighting him up tho 🔥 Grams tricking them making it a one way opening, Katherine not being in the tomb, Anna wanting to sacrifice Jeremy for her mom, Elena comforting Damon. Anna & Pearl letting Damon know that Catherine knew where he was this whole time and didn’t care was brutal 💔 And Grans! Bonnie’s heartbreak broke my heart 😭 And playing Leona Lewis? Right in the feels! So much going on in this one. Loved seeing your reaction & breakdown 🖤

Jay

Only on episode 14 and already on the third death that felt really impactful! (Vicky, Lexie, Grams) This show is putting us through it!

elle

Im so glad you guys are loving this show. I can't wait for you guys to get deeper into it y'all are gonna be so gagged!!

KatieBee

Why do they always take the grams?! 😭 The grams is always amazing 💔

Jbug

grams dying broke my heart the first time and still hurts 💔

rickie woodson

vampire speed = we never use it when we need it smh. get the main two vamps of the show at the door, cast the spell, they come out, stop chanting and not only does grams live but the other vamps dont get out. so simple that they never thought to do it

jaimie✨

the scene with bonnie at the end breaks me

Bex

Yeah Season 1- 3 were peak and got me on the edge of my seat. I think it went downhill after that. It was watchable sometimes good, but (for me) it never got back to its high. When I watch the later Seasons, I sometimes even forgot how good the first Seasons were.

Vanessa Navarro

I love Stefan but he can be so hypocritical sometimes. He backstabbed Damon just hours ago and expects him to help him lol.

Rachael Evansco

This episode was the first real cry I had when I first watched this show. Bonnie screaming Elena! was so heartbreaking. Also.... The Damon and Elena scene with the necklace was such an honest moment for them. I love Anna fighting to get her mom back. She's sweet to her core and I love her character. Damon leaving Anna and Pearl in the hotel room was definitely growth for him.

Egypt Jones

“Why does she get the bed and Bonnie gets the tube” literally Bonnie entire time on this show of unfairness and odd character development

B-dad

Did Grams just give an in show reason for why Bonnie needs to suffer. So she can be more powerful! 😱😱😭

North

3:03 They’re from the 1800s…Bonnie is black…. 😂😭

North

Elena could NOT take her eyes off Damon’s lips in the necklace scene 🥵

Endymion

The episode could just as well have been named "No good deed goes unpunished". First Stephan decides to spare bartender-vamp, only so that he had to later defend Jeremy and couldn't keep Anna from entering. And then Grams decides to help vampires only to die from the energy the spell took.
