Oh this one surprised us a lot, was not expecting a whole ass mystery and juicy drama with this one. Some of the Jump scares really got us but overall really enjoyed and would watch again!

A horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch.

Up next: Alien Resurrection, The Impossible and Heated Rivalry.

Exclusive watch alongs: Freeway and Possum

This movie is rated R and so is this reaction. Viewer Discretion is Advised.

Supernatural and Hokum today? What a treat!

gloomygraveyardgirl

I watched this at the cinema and it was so perfectly eerie. I was at a late night screening so when i got home at midnight i had to watch some avatar the last airbender too be able too sleep haha. Also i clocked that Ohm was suicidal straight away (probably because ive been there many times). The way hes acting is very realistic.

Victoria Davis

This was good, I thought it was going in a certain direction but it was different from what I expected.

El Len

The spooks in this one tho…hard to sleep after it lol I mean dayum!!!

I think one of the things I love about Damien McCarthy's films is that yes, supernatural things exist but the supernatural is secondary to the main plot. They're just there in all his films because they were here before we were. We just happened to build our world on top of them.

Kate

Oh man, the Impossible is going to be tears from start to finish

Kate L

Omg I loved this movie and saw it twice. I am so excited to watch your reactions!

Adra K McBride

Hey Cody and Sergio! I sent you guys an email, I hope you got my message! :)

Roz

Yes perfect way to start my weekend. I love this in the theater it will be fun to watch with you guys.

Love this reaction! I had no idea about this movie, but once it started, I was definitely getting The Shining and 1408 vibes, which are two of my favs. Glad this was also a good hotel horror film! Also, I kinda assumed Ohm erased part of the circle when in the basement, letting the witch get to him because he felt so guilty.

Roz

Sergio at 1:12:45 was me in the theater because hearing that wail and the lights went out I felt as if all hope was lost 🤣😂

BiancaProbably

For research (and because I wanna use it in a mix), what's that Smile 2 track with her crying? I've listened to they Skye Riley EP ALOT but not the actual score track lolol

Shannon Turner

I saw this in the cinema and was instantly reminded of why I don't see horror movies in the cinema. With all the horror newbs there with their friends screaming and giggling. I mean, I understand the coping mechanism, but it took me right out of the movie every time. And with a movie like this that has such great atmosphere and tension, I regret it. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it!

Michael

I watched Hokum in theaters. I really like the bookend scenes, and the direction is fantastic. But the story is a bit of a mixed bag for me. Adam was great though as a snarky, asshole-ish, yet moving dude who as a kid did something so tragic and traumatic. I felt for him at the end.

madison anthony

You guys should watch The Pact (2012) it is such an underrated horror movie it is so creepy and watching it when I was a kid it made me so paranoid and uncomfortable

Not enough people are reacting to this! -tallasianchick [hate that i couldn't choose which to update]!

Funny you mentioned Insidious, the music was done by Joseph Bishara who also composed for the Insidious movies!

Ana Fox

Love Adam Scott but never heard of this movie. It was a great watch, though! Thanks y'all!

i absolutely loved this movie so much, its definitely one of the best movies of 2026. I love how it takes you on a whole journey emotionally and was also so fucking scary. I was gripping my blanket so hard in some moments lmfaoo. the ending also made me cry. also my theory is that guilt shackles you and the witch takes you to hell to repent for the things you feel guilty for, and that by reconciling with what he did and forgiving himself, Ohm was able to get free and escape, that's why I think she didn't get Fiona bc she hadnt done anything bad that she felt guilty of. I think Fiona just died naturally without food and water.

Shane Stark

This movie was scary but it literally left me crying at the end. I loved the story. It was great.

Shane Stark

But even after alby admitted the mushroom stuff, there was a focus on his cuffs. Maybe the mushroom was still affecting him, idk.

Aysha O

Just. Push. The. Cork. All. The. Way. In. Or smash it with your boot. At least try that before murder? And, did Bauman even _think_ to take the recorder with Fiona's last words.

Repomanda22

not seen this movie but i'm calling it now, as soon as he said "he was too young to be punished, they should have hanged him" i said to myself "its him. he killed his mom."

Jenna Woginrich

First Question

Adam Scott is a tremendous actor. Holy cow!

First Question

Bro’s house reminds me of Boricayan (just…look it up). It’s depressing as hell, and I hate it lmao.
