I've always had a huge crush on Jensen but this episode was something else lol...God really took his time

Cheryl Abbott

I know there are Team Sam and Team Dean people. I've always been Team Dean. 🤩

DkLounge

The reason why Cass couldn't exorcise Alastair is because he's just extremely powerful considering that even the knife didn't work on him last episode. Also, Ruby does mention in this episode that Sam can strengthen his demon powers through something so bad that Sam said he doesn't wanna do it AGAIN

Irena

i think its intersting how dean, a usually pretty hot headed guy, is a gentle lover in bed while sam, the more level-headed of those two, is an aggressive one

Cheryl Abbott

I've recently became religious and started reading The Bible so it'll be interesting watching shows that have these themes in from this perspective.

Pie

Dean is crying, I'm crying

Jay

love that you could watch these 2 episodes together! this is peak spn, and it's so much fun to see you two gasping when you're surprised with new information

Pie

Yes, it’s so interesting how differently the two sex scenes are portrayed

Purple Nurple

Jensen's acting in this IS awesome. That scene at the end always makes me cry. I love this 2 parter - and not just because of the spicy scenes lol.

Irena

I think it’s done intentionally They don’t do many sex scenes so there has to be thought put into it Also funnily enough both scenes were with non-humans

gloomygraveyardgirl

Jensen is so good in this episode. Dean is such a tragic character and i truly feel for him so much.

Chantal

The conversation between the bothers at the end always makes me cry for Dean 💜

Pie

Now we also know why Dean caught the disease in ‘Yellow Fever’.

Cass&Jason

This is the episode when I started to suspect that Kripke was a fan of Dogma, the Kevin Smith movie. The whole "junkless angels" bit. It's quite a funny scene with Alan Rickman.

ClaryTehSage

I always felt that the actor for Alastair or perhaps they asked him to, does this voice to imitate the voice the Devil in Constantine did…all sort of slimy sounding.

Michael Instone

Jensen , my goodness give this guy an Oscar.

KiwiJello

This is soooo hard!!! I am addicted to this show, but I am watching it with these two. I really just want to binge the holy F out of it, but I am enjoying the extra reactions from these guys. UGh. Poor me. /end pity party

BunkerGirl

About your question if religious people were offended by the show, I remember an interview where they talked about it... even the actors were originally a bit worried about that. And apparently at a convention Jared or Jensen met a priest/pastor who is a huge fan, and they asked him about it... and the priest said something like, no why? It shows a fight between good and evil set to great music. (or something like that) lol

Fai

Funnily enough I used to watch the show back when it was on TV sometimes on this religious channel (forgot the name) because they would play it at a later time than the original premier and sometimes I couldn't catch the first showing, and afterward they had like a little talk show where the hosts would talk about the episode from a Christian perspective, could be pretty interesting. So yeah, this show clearly had a decent subset of Christian fans to be on that channel and for them even to have a special after show for it haha

Fai

Yeah no Ruby, Sam, and Dean definitely planned that whole thing together, she didn't betray them, it was all part of the plan. Well, not the torture part, Ruby got unlucky with that bit lol

Claire Dactyl

Man, Pamela is just so fucking cool. One of my favorite characters in the series.

Karia_Winchester

When Anna said "it just popped into my head" I have a feeling that Cass sent it to her. He knows the plan is to follow what Dean says, so it's interesting that right before Cass was to open the door, Anna gets the sigil and banishes them away.

Cici

I do feel bad for Pam and her eyes. But still I need to defend Cass on this. He did warn her not to look but she pushed further and still took a peek. And I mean he can't change it that his true form (wich she saw) is not for peoples eyes. It's a fact that he also told Dean when he talked about his true voice. So he told you guys. It's kinda mean to pin the blame on him when he couldn't do anything and Pam didn't want to listen...

LeslieW

No matter how many times I watch this ep jensen always makes me cry.

Michele

I really liked the juxtaposition of Sam with a demon and Dean with an angel. Seems so perfect. Especially since Sam is usually seen as the "good" brother and Dean as the "bad" brother. We got to learn more about angels. I like how they were giving us more details through the characters. So seems like angels don't have feelings like humans do. But, they can still have doubt? So there's something there. But Anna wanted to have those feelings humans have and she did not want to lose them. I guess having the angel grace means they don't have feelings? More to learn about all of that. But, we're seeing something in Castiel's face as he sees what's happening. And he "likes" Dean? So maybe he's learning from Dean? Jensen is a really good actor. He's naturally very empathetic and I bet that helps him with his acting and being able to fully get into the character's emotions. Apparently he had to take some time for a walk off after filming this scene. He's had to do that before. He's said that while the emotions he's showing in a scene are the characters and not his, his body doesn't realize that and acts as if it is Jensen having that. So his body reacts as if it's all real. He's also said that he may not even plan on crying and it just happens anyway. That's cool. But the look on Sam's face was actually partly Jared feeling for Jensen, because he knows how fully into it Jensen gets. And the crew often gets into it too and there have been times when they've had the crew crying as well. The twist with Ruby seemingly selling the guys out caught me off guard. Took me a bit to really see what was going on there. Smart. Season 4 has really ramped things up to a new level.

keira

that scene with dean’s speech at the end is the thing that made me realize i get very excited watching men cry

Susie

We have to remember what people actually know about Hell. They've heard stories. They've seen horror movies. Maybe a priest told them something once. But they haven't been there. Hell, for most people, is a theological abstraction. So I thought it was an odd choice for the show to go there with Dean. It's impossible for us to even imagine what he is describing, even the Meg demon simply said "hell, is, well hell" back in season 2. I agree that Jensen really acted his ass off in that last scene. He is a terrific actor, as is Jared, but that scene was and remains a difficult watch because of how Jensen acted. Also, I know that the writers, and so the boys, describe Anna as human, but I agree with Uriel. She's not really human ( what human can do all the things that she can do? ). However, she is as close to being human as an angel can be because she was born to a human. I have to admit that I am not a fan of the boys having intimate relations with angels or demons so I wasn't happy that they added these scenes to the story. Oh one more thing, I hated the director's choice to add that Titanic scene. I know that they like to pay homage a lot of times, but that wasn't the time in my opinion. It was just too corny lol.

Susie

What you see on this show is very different from what you will learn from the church. You need to remember that it is just a television show and they are not trying to teach any religion. As long as you remember that, you won't have any trouble with being entertained by it :}

Wesley Ledford

Anyone now if they have talked about ruby after be married to sam irl

Justine

This is one of those episodes where I'm reminded that Dean Winchester is one of the greatest fictional characters ever written 😩

deanandsamAO3

Angels are so unsavory. All of them.

deanandsamAO3

Pamela really appreciates Sam's gorgeous attributes. Good taste. :)

deanandsamAO3

It's probably been said previously, but Jared and the actress who plays Ruby fell in love during this season, then married. They are still together. :)

Vel

One of my favorite scenes in this episode is when they are at the tree where Anna's grace was supposed to be. The four of them standing there in the light with Sam and Anna both in green while Dean and Ruby are both in black. *Chefs Kiss*

Paul

Jensen Ackles is such a phenomenal actor in his facial expressions, crying on command. But in this moment, he said that he truly felt his character of Dean. Those tears were as real as they can get. I don't blame Dean at all, he lasted for 30 years of truly unfathomable cosmic-tier torture. I wouldn't even last a day when they start peeling my fingernails off and gouging my eyes out. Unreal impossible torture. He endured that for over 10,000 days! That's beyond superhuman and heroic!

Shannon Turner

Jensen's vulnerability is admirable. I know a lot of male actors struggle with it, but he makes it look so easy. No matter how many times I watch his scene, he makes me cry. The hitches in his breath, and tonal shifts in his voice, the way he begs, it's DEVASTATING, and he could make anyone understand that with his acting. Just phenomenal. Also, I love Uriel. Dude doesn't get enough props. He's hilarious.

Shannon Turner

I'm all for healthy scepticism of demons, but Dean literally said it was Sam's plan

Ciara Harvey

Ruby bringing the demons to the barn was definitely part of the plan! Dean did say good plan Sam bringing both of them together lol.

Paul

It's beautiful, could be a painting.

Elisia

Honestly season 4 Dean is making me miss season 1 Dean… he never would have let these angels treat Sam the way they are, or get away with speaking to Sammy that way

Elisia

ive always been Team Sam myself, but i definitely understand Team Dean. Jensen is a phenomenal actor and I love Dean whole heartedly as well (even if Sammy owns my heart more)

Karia_Winchester

I mean we saw with Anna how powerful their true form is. She even though ld to the "shut your eyes" knowing how dangerous it was

Cici

yeah that's what I mean. I totally get that Pam is pissed off etc. I mean as a character that's totally logical. But still it couldn't have been prevented when she didn't listen

KayJayO

the way 15 year old me related to Dean saying he wished he couldn’t feel anything though reasons this show has always been my comfort show 💜

Rhast

Pamela needs to stop taking 'Just one more look' I love her too! I get why she's mad, but Cas did tell her to 'not look'.... So, Angel's fuck, and they made the handprint a sex thing. No matter what though, on screen sex scenes make me cringe. I generally dislike it anytime it happens. Deans are always better than Sams though. Sorry Sam People, it's not personal. "Angel food cake" is super rude lol. Uh, I also don't like torture scenes. Supernatural just, slips that emotional destruction in there. Like heroin. Sneaky, between the toes. Hunting things! Killing things! Depression! Demon vs Angel! Depression! I'm glad I have to wait. I'm emotionally tired. I'm religious, but I find this fine. We could argue how accurate it is, but it doesn't matter, it's a TV show. I feel like the show did it's best to be cool, entertaining, and at least in the ballpark of accurate.

Anita

One thing about these early cw/wb shows is these pretty actors could ACT like the rent was due... Holly Marie Combs.. Sarah Michelle.. Jensen and Jared... Dawson's Creek kids Those era of teen stars put their BACK into everything

Astoria

I love the fact that they’ve given the angels so much more backstory. That they aren’t the radiant, peace-loving, light-bringing beings who watch over humanity. Instead, they view humans as inferior creatures, devoid of any of the emotions and feelings that living beings are capable of. Apart from hubris and arrogance, of which they have plenty... And the fact that Sam danced the Devil’s Tango with a demon and Dean with an angel is funny on so many levels.

Jay

Two things it seems like you guys missed in this episode: 1) You were questioning whether Ruby had a plan or was really going to give Anna to Alastair, but it is stated at the end of that scene that it was SAM’S plan to bring the angels and demons together to fight each other. So Ruby went to get the demons and Dean told the angels to come. 2) You wondered about Anna and Castiel’s history, but she clearly says in the episode that she was “in the foxhole” with Castiel and Uriel and implies that she was their boss. That is their history. Not giving spoilers for the future, but these are the answers to your questions as far as we know from just this episode.

Ellorna

Ruby wasn't going to betray them. She might at most strayed from the plan a little to see if she could the Demons to not hurt Sam and Dean, but she absolutely never intended to turn over Anna. This was fully the plan and not a betrayal like even Dean makes that clear. The only part that was unplanned - though probably wasn't a complete surprise to her given who Alastair is - was Ruby getting tortured.

pamysue

Trust me, when "Ready for Love" by Bad Company came out in the early 70s, LOTS of people were having sex to that song!😁😉

Anthony

Dean went from wanting to kill Ruby whenever he saw her to picking her up off the floor and thanking her. Ok character development 👏 Demon sex one episode, fallen angel the next. Gotta have variety! Lol Damn Alastiar does sound a little like Tony Soprano! Lmao “I think I’ll take my chances.” What was that deliver?? 😆 The ending is some of Jensen’s best acting!! I’m kinda surprised you 2 didn’t cry during that scene. Anna showed why she was the boss of Castiel and Uriel, doing to Alastair what they couldn’t

Jbug

that ending! heart breaking moment.. acting at its best 😢

Jackson Potluck

I've spent a silly amount of time in my life defending Cass for this specific thing 😂

Kaylee Smeaton

I am definitely team Dean. But I could be biased being as I have my own Dean for over 20+ years now. =D

Cellin . V

Yes the Story goes that Lucifer was an Angel , but its not in the Bible

Megan

Team Dean! The more I rewatch, the more I realize how much of a cry baby Sam is.

Trinity Bernhardt

That ending scene is one of the most powerful scenes I have seen on television. Jensen destroys me. He was so good at making crew cry too. I am religious and had my feelings, but ultimately was able to separate art and religion. There were definitely discussions though and I have been judged.

Kimberly

I didn't remember Bobby came to the Dominican Rep. 🇩🇴 I love your reactions and I'm currently binge watching Supernatural, TVD and waiting for the last 2 episodes of Heated rivalry 💙🤎

Nikki Calmes

Just found you guys on YouTube last week and I’m already in love with y’all 🥰 I’m starting with your Supernatural watches but I see that you’ve also got TVD and so many more of my favorites, YAY!!! Looks like you’re about to provide me with solid entertainment for at least the next year!! 🥰🫶🏻 Love y’all!! 💖💖💖

Nikki Calmes

And what’s actually even funnier is that Sam and Dean are really flip flopped in real life, meaning Jensen is more like “Sam” and Jared is more like “Dean” as far as personalities go, not women wise, cause they are both teddy bears for their wives 🥰

Irena

Yup love 2J sm

Kimberly S. (Rawr)

That intro was tense y’all. Her sending the angels away with that symbol was crazy. PAMELA! I love her personality & banter so much 🙌🏼 The Anna reveal was so good. The literal falling from grace was interesting. Loved the Angel lore drop. Cue my laughter at Sergio mentioning Dean not having many love scenes knowing this was coming up in the very next episode 😂 That back tho 🥵I do enjoy their chemistry. Not Ruby contacting Alastair on the DL. Uriel stays bringing the sass. That Ruby torture scene was brutal. Oof everyone is always using the brother’s love for one another as leverage to get what they want. The demon vs angel showdown over Anna was crazy. Her getting her grace back & clearing the area looked so cool. Glad that was all apart of their plan to bring the angels & demons together to fight each other. Oof Dean coming clean about what happened in hell was heartbreaking 💔 Jensen never fails to make me cry with these emotional scenes 😭 Such a jam packed episode. Absolutely living for these reactions & breakdowns 🖤

First Question

I think Dean strictly listens to Bad Company’s Ready For Love every time lmao.

rickie woodson

I so thought she was going to be the antichirst.... but if she is human, how does she still have angel powers? Just looks like she is possessing a human body like cas

Tyra M.

As a person who was raised very religious, people’s ideas of angels are usually different to how they are actually depicted in the Bible. I always felt that supernatural depicted angels more biblically accurate than other shows.

Heaven Leigh Barras

Contrary to popular belief, the story of Lucifer falling isn’t actually in the bible. There have been several books and poems written about it, but the bible doesn’t explicitly tell that story. Also, there are 66 books in the bible which always makes me giggle because of the 66 seals the demons are trying to break 🤭
