I think the coven is a great metaphor for cults. Antonia's personality appealed to Tara, a heavily-traumatized person, and found solace within the coven. Traumatized people exist without committing any harm to others so I don't think that justifies Antonia's actions.

Oh Absolutely, we definitely see that unfolding here. It is also important to address and talk about the trauma that all the characters have gone through. But as we said - it's definitely not the right decision to go after ALL vampires like this.

I love the scenes between Alcide and Debbie, especially in this era, because of the little ways they reflect the wolf side of their nature. Their sense of loyalty to each other and to others, how they physically act towards each other when they’re feeling hurt/betrayed, etc. I think it’s really cool. We see it some in Sam and Tommy, too, since they both shift into dogs frequently/primarily.

The maker commandment didnt work for perhaps two reasons. In season 3 Bill released Jessica, not to her knowledge. She didn't understand what it meant. Or theory two, she was too spellbound to listen.

Everyone has spiritual power, the stronger the circle the better. But Marnie is a powerful witch. She just needed the numbers. And in Lafayettes back story it shows their bloodline tracing back to witchcraft. Its in Tara too.

That's why Season 4 is my favorite. We have seen a lot of trauma inflicted on the humans and the use of wicca and possession is empowerment for some of the characters who really deserve it most.

Oh, goodie. Another case of Tara being used by supernatural entities who don't actually give to schlitz about her. If the rest of this season is just season 2 redux, imma be annoyed. I liked so much when Tara was given agency and hope and a relationship.

Fanaticism is never good. And combined with so much power it's especially bad. Once Antonia has eradicated vampires, if she's successful, what's next? Will she let Marnie have her body and life back? Doubtful. And everyone who's touched by that taste of power will be affected. Remember, too, that Marnie started playing with necromancy--which is black magic for sure, and has touched off a massacre that will kill civilians as well as vampires. In short, Antonia is a black arts practitioner. She's not a good person.

The amount of silver needed to stop them from rising raises questions about Bill and the Rattreys in episode one. Was he captured by them or did he let himself be drained? We already know he watched Sookie be beaten to death in order to feed her his blood. Did a tiny silver chain really stop him from rising?

Bill didn't put enough silver on Jessica because he was too soft-hearted, that's what the problem was. He couldn't bear to see her suffering and it got in the way of his thinking.
