Thank you so much for the support! You guys and grrls are awesome!

No, Maxima didn't yell "KAAAAAAA-LAAAAAAA-KAAAAAA..... UAAAAAA!" when she fired that beam. She also didn't spend half an episode powering it up. To save you the web search, Kalākaua is another Hawaiian monarch. (It was that name, Liliʻuokalani or Lunalilo)

It turns out that the best way to lose a fight in this comic is to be a pain in the ass to draw. Disastar should have dodged, but I think I spent at least an hour drawing that slightly tilted version of him there in the second panel. I just copied him from the big double spread page, then did a transform on that image to lean him back a little, but of course he just looked like a flat picture that had been lazily transformed in photoshop. The perspective correct depth he had in the original pic was all sheared the wrong way. So I spent a ton of time redrawing a bunch of fiddly details and honestly it's probably hard to tell on the page here. Less so in the double-sized Patreon version, but still.

To be fair, I had never planned on Disastar being a major factor in this battle, so he was going to go down early on anyway. So let's say... Orthvye (the Aetholith piloted bioweapon) hamstrung Disastar's maneuverability with... spinnerets? Yeah, just off panel, there's a big web stuck to the bottom of Disastar, like a giant Spider-Man swung through.

Or maybe he didn't feel the need to dodge a rock, until an energy blast suddenly overtook it in the last second and opened the way for it

I threw a rock at him. It was a big rock.

Sharien

dont worry about it - maxima is just that fast^^ also cue the "who parked a mountain in deck 54?" XD

Anti-No

For ships that large "That rock will be deflected by the shield, no need to dodge" is the only way to prioritize, I suspect. Remember, there are many others firing on it right now, and going full on ping-pong ball would probably break a starship in short order?

"Almost got him." One of the best Batman Animated episodes ever. :)

Lesson 1 for vilians: Do not make it difficult for the artist!

Just like in "Treasure Planet," where the most complicated-looking aliens were the first to die.

2026-11-03 10:00 Physics can be a bitch, but at least she's a consistent bitch. Also, this is why in so many sci-fi books basic projectile weapons are still emperor, even they require you to lug around extra mass as ammunition.

No sense not dialing it up 6 since 3 has worked just fine.

A perfect one-two punch of plasma beam and kinetic crusher.

Looking at the impact point, I can't tell if she hit DisaStar in the equivalent of a knee, or "inna fork".
