Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

That awkward morning after. Except it's not the morning after, it's like, 30 minutes after. And everyone you work with is there, and they've all got sex hair and there's more than one person with their shirt on inside out. At least no one is giving a presentation in their underwear.

Yes, I know there were already a few comments with the Hulk reference on the page with Math and Jabber getting down, but like, I'm not going to use it too? Yeah, you called it. Some people are asexual, some people are Math. And apparently Jabberwokky. Maybe to a lesser extent. Like all things, it's a spectrum. If the average person's sex drive is a 5, Jabber is an 8, Math is around 9.5. Succubi can't really be measured on the human scale. It's different for them. It's obviously super high, but it's also like hunger. They need to eat, and it affects not just their number, but the spectrum itself, and it if gets bad enough, it starts affecting the numbers of people around them. But that brings us back around to discussions of free will.

I know some people are finding this storyline a little squicky, which really wasn't the intent. What Parfait did wasn't malicious or even intentional - which doesn't mean there won't be consequences, but I certainly can't guarantee this will all play out to everyone's satisfaction. I mean, obviously nothing that starts of with a lust aura incident could possibly have a satisfactory conclusion for everyone. It's just too serious of a topic for some people, for any number of reasons.

The whole comic is supposed to be that slice of life, lighter side of being a superhero. Obviously sometimes there have to be villains who do pretty terrible things, but I try not to dwell on that stuff. I just need enough to show "this person is bad and here's a reason we have to stop them." The comic isn't and will never be "The Boys." I watched a season of that and, honestly I found it to dark to be enjoyable. It certainly had its moments, but I had that uneasy feeling that, yeah, this is unfortunately what it would probably be like if Supers were real. There'd be this honeymoon period (assuming we didn't instantly go the X-Men/hunt them all down route) but before long it'd be like how it seems every few weeks now some once beloved actor gets exposed as a pedo or domestic abuser or QANON conspiracy moron. I mean, it's bad enough when someone is just a rich asshole, my utter lack of faith in humanity tells me that if there were people out there who "saved a thousand lives today" then some of them would absolutely be able to justify doing literally anything they wanted. Like what does it matter if my basement is waist deep in murdered cheerleaders? I kept a cruise ship from sinking and saved 5,000 people. Worse still, there would absolutely be people who would defend their favorite superhero's predilection for cheerleader disposal because of "how much good they do."

So, yeah. That's not this comic.

Is that Amorphous with Jiggawat? Is that going to cause problems with his girlfriend?

Jonathan Hamilton

I mean...most people in that room seem to have little to no qualms with what happened. Achilles seems to be the only one actively regretting it and that might just be due to how clingy Jiggawatt is being. Sydney probably needs some therapy though...

Anton Schleef

I hadn't heard of "The Boys" before, but from what you describe it seems far too plausible, depending on how much of the population developed powers over the course of a 5-10 year period.

Matthew Dodgen

I appreciate you keeping this comic lighter then the boys. Though I would love an arc where Sydney has to deal with getting drunk and doing something questionable... say writing her name/ deus is a douche in a cliff face... 🙃

That's one thing I really like about the Super Powereds series by Drew Hayes, when the first super went public they foresaw the potential for things to go the way of The Boys and implemented a system specifically designed to avoid that. The Hero Certification Program (HCP) is designed to train the heroes to not only be the best of the best in terms of combat, but also gives them a rigorous training in the ethics of heroism, and if they can't get them past a superiority complex or a disregard for civilian casualties, then they don't get to be heroes. On top of that they decided to go the costumed superhero straight from the comics route specifically to inspire other supers to *want* to live up to the ideal of heroes via culture and media, it's noted that most supers, even among those who don't become heroes (which only 50 per year do since there are 5 HCP schools and 10 graduates from each school each year, nation-wide), go into service somehow, EMTs, Firefighters, disaster relief, or government work (the Department of Variant-human Affairs, or DVA, is responsible for overseeing the Hero program as well as a lot of other super/powered/human relations stuff). There *is* corruption, that's part of the main plotline in the later books, but for the most part, if a hero goes bad, they get held accountable by their fellow heroes and the DVA. It's even suspected by some of the more cynical students that part of the reason the HCP puts so much emphasis on fighting each other isn't just to ensure that they get as good at fighting other powerful supers as possible, but also to train their minds to be prepared to go all out on someone they consider a friend, because if a hero turns it almost always ends in a high death toll, so there can be no room for hesitation when they need to stop a fellow hero who's gone rogue. So, while I agree that The Boys is probably a pretty realistic take on what the world would be like with supers in it, it's also important to note that a single corporation *made* all those supers and holds a monopoly on everything to do with them. There are other ways for things to go that are equally realistic. The Boys might happen if PR teams that care more about image and profits than the good of the people are put in charge, or Super Powereds might happen if public good and accountability are legitimately made a priority by the people in charge, or X-men might happen if fearmongering and bigotry are allowed to rule the decision making. I honestly think ARChon is a pretty realistic take as well, with the government taking a firmer hand on things. It helps if your Superman Expy is someone who cares about things like public good and accountability, of course. And if you DON'T have a Superman Expy, that kind of changes the math a lot, too.

I always considered a Lust Aura like being really drunk, you will make bad choices and do things you would not usually do but generally don't do something you would not think/imagine doing if not for the consequences. Like being drunk being under a lust aura quiets that inner voice telling you the consequences. I guess it's pretty similar to the Vehemence (excuse spelling or being wrong completely) fight with the violence/wraith aura. The Boys did paint a pretty bleak picture and I agree with your thoughts on it, though I hope we would be more like "Wearing the Cape". Still dark in same places but with a lot of light to offset it, maybe evening winning out over it.

Why am I totally envying the guy that hooked up with the goblin (I forger her name now). We saw nothing, and yet I feel like we missed out, lol. I also really like Jabberwocky's face in that next to last panel; she seems so innocent and confused, it really is cute

C.G. William

Good for now, but HR will be having fun with all the relationships based on lust falling apart over the next few months.

Mike

I am unhappy that this little teaser of the goblin is all we get. We need a sexy pin up of her!

Torabi

I'm glad that Jazza and Math appear to have landed on being comfortable with each other, rather than fighting for the sake of appearances or their egos. I think they make a nice couple.

Stephen Gilberg

My question: How many did Harem do at once?

LaughyTraffy

I'm bad with names, can anyone tell me who's who in each of the panels?

Town Crier

Panel 4: The smugly sated, very much unrepentant look on her face, combined with the gentleman's expression is delightful.

Town Crier

...Nine months later...

Shade Jones

Ohhhh.... Heatwave is gonna be reeeeeally upset. She threatened harem over a prank. This is waaay further.

Shade Jones

Oh, but jiggawatt is giving off a few thousands lumens with that satisfied Grin

Enigma42

so either I am blind or there is no difference between post lust and day to day

Brett

Yeah, kinda figured Math would be immune to that effect. He is probably both a succubus's easiest target and worst nightmare.

Brett

It’s also worth noting that it appears the “solo” victims are conspicuously absent from the meeting. 😎

Shadracht

The flirty/sexy looks on various people's faces. *chef's kiss*. Ver' nice!

Deltarno

One does not get into a sexy superhero comic and not expect sexy shenanigans. That said, I'll be happy when we leave this story arc and move onto ones where people are not having their free will overwritten. On the plus side, not seeing any faces of regret slash oh god what did I do, so no cheating on couples, which is nice. Edit: Oh... wait a tic, please tell me that's not stretchy boy in panel three, the white brown hair guys blend together.

Ken Haugen

I had the same question about stretchy boy and yes I'm pretty sure that's him. Another melted soda in the near future?
