Alright so we heard all of your comments, opinions and suggestions and decided to add a second show into rotation, a show of our own choosing that is completely different in genre/tone/style than the show you guys voted for. We landed on Star Trek TOS because its completely new to George and Simone only has seen a handful of episodes. Going forward, each week there will be 2 tv shows. 1 is voted by you guys, 1 chosen by us.Cheers!

Jeff K.

Gonna get ahead of things and say: George and Simone, after Escape From New York... absolutely do NOT watch Escape From LA. Trust me.

Dragonhunter

Cool, are you going through the whole thing? Or only some chosen episodes?

Brazilian_Rebel

WE NEED THE “BAD BOYS” Franchise!!!!!!

Barry G

Ugh. Star Trek? I love you guys but the content choices have been circling the drain. Now a chunk of content will be devoted to this ancient series that is just pure kitsch at this point. I think it’s time to bail on my cinebingers.

probablyKoi

As a sci-fi fan who has never seen any Star Trek aside from the Chris Pine films, I'm actually quite excited to see Simone nerd out. It's always fun having someone really passionate about a universe explain the cool details you might have missed as a newbie. :D

R Harper

Live Long and Prosper Simone and George, you guys rock it all the time!

Śéáń

Oh nice, I'm fully on board with a dealers-choice series addition! Great idea to get things crossed off the list that might take longer to see light-of-day via polls.

DemNikoArt

Star Trek??? Hahaha nice! I was hoping for TNG but I'll take it 😁

DonkyDave

More content, wowzers! Thanks Simone & George! Although I sincerely hope The Revenant will be making an appearance soon given that it almost won the poll...

FrancescoTakesItEasy

Escape from NY, motherfuckers! Been waiting to break in Shout's 4K disc! The sequel, LA, has a bad rep, but Carpenter afficionados may see it as a fun but nonsensical action movie that almost seems to parody the mindless action movies of the 90s, and the whole idea of sequels. I have a soft spot for it.

Magnificent Gojira

Star Trek TOS is great news as well as Carpenter flick.

Maratae

'Shut Up and Dance' + 'San Junipero' f$%k yeah!

Maiki

Second weekly show is great news and the one by you, one by poll concept makes a lot of sense. Always looking forward to stuff you guys choose. Not really into the Star Trek shows, but if this means that we're eventually getting to the movies, great choice!

Jay

With the new TV slot, do you plan on alternating shows between seasons like you do with the Tuesday one? Good news for non Breaking Bad universe/Black Mirror fans anyway:)

Simon

Star Trek not my thing but hopefully you guys enjoy it. Every reactor I follow seems to be doing ST currently.

Martin Roca

Holt shit, your name????? Lets goooo! Anime arc. Next movie: A silent voice and I wanna eat your pancreas

Barry G

It’s not even just Star Trek. Like…did we need reactions to tremors 2, in example? Is that really the type of movies we want George and Simone to watch? I think it’s important for content creators to recognize their niches. These two are super smart, engaged people. Movies like click are a bummer.

Anodyne

Good call.

Cartoons ReAct

Amazing 😁also I just remembered, did you guys ever watch The Super Mario Bros movie on your own? Cause the live action and the animated versions could get some views

Nabikon

I remember as a kid, I always gave my dad shit for being a Trekkie, but now, I'm one too.

Adam Wetstein

Beware Star Trek. Paramount are copyright strike crazy

Ral Zarek

Yes!!! Your Name is my all time favorite movie! My only hope is that if you are watch with Japanese audio and English subtitles that you please please please get one that also translates the written words on screen. Very important

streaky

Good strat. I don't like ToS (though I appreciate it, which is something different entirely), but yeah if you can fit them in definitely worth doing. We've got a lot to get through here ;)

jmundt33a

Does this mean LA will go on the docket somewhere? There should also be a list to draw from of films with crazy US Presidents. They’ve already done a few, but things like Dead Zone should be on a list with EFNY.

myinniemademedoit

Awesome. I’m no Trek fan, so I won’t be partaking, but a 2nd TV show a week would be nice. Hopefully the next one is more up my alley. At least I have BCS!

Monica Alarcon

Very nice!!! Are you watching the original Star Trek or remastered?? (Either is fine, I got both versions)

Astraeos

There's gonna be some pissed off people, based upon a couple posts ago, about you guys watching Star Trek lol. I mean I'm personally a little bummed it won't be The Next Generation, but hey, Trek is Trek. Hopefully this means George will finally catch up to the Trek references on his own personal time. I definitely don't expect TNG on the channel ever. I am sorta curious though, what is the plan with TOS? Are you guys going to watch every episode, or just watch a select curated few episodes? I also strongly agree with you guys doing one voted on show, and one personal choice show that you guys pick. I just feel like there should be a lot more personal choice brought into things, maybe some movies that you guys specifically pick out that you've wanted to watch, as well as the personal choice TV show?

Tay Schumaker

No desire to watch almost 80 episodes of TOS, but I am sure a lot of people will be happy. Good compromise by adding another show. Good luck

Mr. Writhms

I just watched that new horror film "Abigail" and it is awesome. I'm dying to see a reaction to it by you Cinepeeps. It's also trending on Youtube, by the way. And if you're still interested in "Star Trek" after TOS, please check out the new series "Star Trek Strange New Worlds". It is the prequel to TOS and it's pretty damned good.

JayF

ST:TOS!!!

Kris

2 shows?! awesome! I'd love to throw a show rec out. It's a hbo max show called Station Eleven. It's 1 season with 10, 1 hour episodes. It may never win a poll so maybe it could be a personal choice someday. A real hidden gem. It's a unique post apocalyptic story.

Shonnicus

We know them watching Star Trek Series is leading to a movie reaction. Khaaaaan!!

silverarrow06

So great you're watching "your Name"! 😊🙌

Jeremy S

Excited for the Star Trek TOS reactions! Hope y'all end up watching TNG as well (if you haven't seen it)!

Monica Alarcon

I have another question... Are you watching Star Trek starting from The Cage, Where No Man Has Gone Before or The Man Trap?

sarCC

"San Junipero" on my birthday AND Your Name next Sunday!? Woohoo!

Mr TV Eye

Star Trek TOS is a great choice. As someone who grew up as a kid in the 70s, I love the show. I have to admit, the episodes can be hit or miss and can feel cringe/outdated at times, but it's also part of it's nostalgic charm. And it's a classic for a reason, it was creative and innovative back in the days. It's a product of it's time, and for sure something completely different.

CT

I'm excited to watch TOS with you guys! A curated "best of" watch is best. Somewhere around a dozen episodes total. Watching every one would be brutal for everyone. There are good reasons that 20+ episode seasons aren't made for TV anymore.

sheriffjt

Escape From New York!! So excited!

PIG

So happy we are doing Star Trek 😁

Monica Alarcon

If you watch 2 episodes each week then the animated series, the first 6 movies the next generation, the next 4 movies, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, the Kelvin Timeline movies, Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Strange new World, oh and the Short Treks, and I guess the Section 31 movie and Academy will be out by then, you might finish watching by the time the USS Enterprise NX-01 is launched in 2151.

Happy Hanukkah

"we heard all of your comments, opinions and suggestions and decided to add a second show" Try as I may, I can't remember pushing for this... :-P :-) But I am very much looking forward to July 21st, when in a long-awaited turnaround, you'll finally be watching Happy Hanukkah!

michael denny

Also yall should check out local library for sttos they probably have copies

Honey Hermsen

Hopefully this means you are going to do TNG at some point

Crazykirsch

Pumped you guys are actually doing Your Name. Not sure if it's recorded yet but want to second the suggestion on making sure it's a sub version that includes translations for written words/text. Still super excited either way.

Darin Foat

I'm really happy you guys are doing Star Trek. I think you're going to have a lot of fun with it.

Cubonemaker

Studio Ghibli is well known for copyright issues on YouTube, please be careful when posting it so you don’t lose your channel. ItsaPrimate and Vkunia have both lost their original channels due to them.

Dustin

You guys really gonna post a Studio Ghibli film after getting a strike already?!?!?! They are notorious for striking channels to death.

HeyHeyJK

um, "Your Name" ain't Studio Ghibli, y'all, and other channels have reacted and seem to be okay so really looking forward to that one. Also, the two "Black Mirror" episodes will be interesting; probably the darkest, most upsetting episode followed by one of the most uplifting ones (both IMHO). "Dunkirk" and "Escape from New York" will be great, too. I'm very 'meh' on the OG ST but may pop in for a few specific episodes.

Dee Aitch

Terrific, I would love to see if Star Trek works for you!

RipTheRipper

I don't like ST at all..but I think it is a positive move to go to 2 series with one of your choosing...

Jeff I.

Is 'Your Name' one of the Japanese movies you've already seen, George? Just wondering if it'll be new to both of you.

fromage

Love Star Trek!

Logan Kerlee

I'm stoked beyond stoked, you guys! :D I love me some Star Trek (haven't watched TOS before though, so it'll be a lot of fun seeing the origin of Star Trek)!

Dirge Girl

I am all for more John Carpenter on the channel. Cheers!

MDvortex

Escape from New York is nice, Escape from L.A. is my favorite. I hope the first part doesn't deter you from watching the second part at some point

Brandon

One of my favourite things about OG Trek is how in 2024, you can tell that they were trying to be progressive, but were still anchored down by 1950's attitudes. It makes for a fascinating watch when a character will say something progressive even by today's standards and follow it up with something crappy in the very next sentence.

Lood

Everyone's reacting to Star Trek, huh?

Jay Davis

Star Trek, Escape from New York and capped off by Dunkirk? What have I done to deserve this next week? Must've been something extra good.

Liquor & Swords

I applaud all the new reactions!! I have a suggestion for you guys: react to the Star Trek universe in order of chronological release. At this point there are so many series and movies that in my opinion, not only is it ultimately really rewarding to see everything, but the best effect would be to see the events and plotlines as the audience was made aware of them, in the same order. Sometimes there are callbacks or homages that are only really understood (and not spoiled) if the contents are consumed in order of release. That might mean you do a season or two of TNG then a movie, then another season, but that's the way we first saw them. Anyway, food for thought...

Ballsac McGee

Just wondering how often you guys plan to do the music reaction thing

nossieboy

I love the charm and camp of the Original Star Trek series. Was wanting to watch it soon so this is great timing. Watching Firefly again with you two’s reaction was fun :D

windyWin

My mother was/is a huge trekkie. She watched the original series back in the day. I used to watch the tng intros when I was a toddler during reruns in the early 90s. Then watched all of tng, ds9 and voyager during the covid lockdowns. I also watched a bit of tos. I'm gonna dig seeing George catch on to the references.

Sergio Meira

Star Trek: TOS is great and awesome! It can be cringe by today's standards (especially in how it depicts women), but if you take it in the context of the time, to be fair... it's an awesome series with many memorable episodes. I'm looking forward to it. Hey, if at some point you're looking for another series to delve into and don't mind going international, what about Un Village Français / A French Village? It has great characters, a wonderful storyline, and is very engaging. After the first couple of episodes I simply couldn't let go of it. Give it a try someday! Voilà!

WalrusWallace

Wow it's going to be an interesting week! Looking forward to the reactions

gfixler

Oh, man, I'm unreasonably excited about Star Trek. I thought that would be years away, if ever. It's so old and corny and cheesy, I already completely forgive George if he doesn't like it, but it'll still be fun to dive into.

Khan1001

Yes!, was hoping you guys would start your Star Trek journey!, I know Simone is a big TNG fan like a lot of us but I don't think I've actually watched TOS properly, just the popular episodes and that was decades ago. I hope you guys watch the movies as well then do TNG eventually, so excited!

Kenneth thomas

Better. Call. Saul....Better. Call. Saul.... Better! Call! Saul!

Björn Karlsson

It's time for some European movies imo. I prefer a certain swedish movie 🙂🤩

Samuel Bruce

Dunkirk on my birthday, and I watched it when it came out on my birthday in theaters, coooolll.

beefjerkywizard

Stranger things. Fargo TV Series. The Bear. Shrinking.

Monica Alarcon

Have you considered hiring an editor like other channels? not that George isn't an amazing editor but it would free you to do other projects and watch stuff...

Dazzler & Em

Have to say that Dunkirk and the always amusing escape from new york equal a really good week of videos. As to star trek, tos is enjoyable (including films) in patches. Tng is really prime Star Trek and can't wait to see you eventually watch it. Echoing some of the previous comments, just a big thank you for all the extra content, particularly as George hasn't been well.

Sergio Meira

By the way, in addition to the two movies I keep hoping you'll watch someday ('Pig' and 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World'), I feel like adding another one, after having seen you guys watch Casablanca: how about 'Gone With the Wind' and (one of my favorite oldies) 'Splendor in the Grass'? Both include interesting character studies, great writing, and engaging stories.

Dazzler & Em

George might enjoy SG1 for the way it ties into Egyptian history. Might need to watch the original film first. 🤔

Alex Ch

Gonna be such a shock when they find out Dunkirk is Studio Ghibli.

PrimitiveCruisingArtist

Funny. Just the other day I was thinking I should suggest to you this very thing, doing two TV shows, one voted on and one chosen by you guys. It's quite surprising to discover that I'm magical. Cool.

Mandi

Ok, I was going to take a break until you guys started Better Call Saul, but you’re doing Star Trek too??? Resubbed! Can’t wait!

Andrew Hussey

Oh my God, your name!? I've been dying for that to win a poll for ages and ages, so amped for that

Sergio Meira

By the way again, for when there's a poll on (small) series, may I suggest the excellent "Barry"?

Jay S

Hope one day you guys choose to watch Black Sails cause it definitely won't win any polls unfortunately. It epitomizes what storytelling should be in the visual/video medium.

Edgar Siemon

Yup for sure will be back on Saturday and Sunday.
