I think I understand the divisiveness of season 2, but personally i think 4 and 2 are the best. I guess people really like the show for the street life stuff and how it reflects the same things that are going on in the police stations and in politics. But man, the character writing and the actors they got for all the dock workers is just perfection, I love it.

The first season is still my favorite, just because it holds such a special place in my heart, but I'll readily admit season four is the best season of not just this show, but ANY show, ever (in my opinion). I have such a hard time ranking them otherwise, other than putting season five in fifth place (I still love season five, but I think it's pretty widely agreed it's the weakest). And regarding the divisiveness: yeah, it was such a shock to people to just introduce almost entirely new characters and an entirely new setting and section of Baltimore, because people just assumed it would stick with the West side exclusively. The show was pretty ahead of the curve, because in a way, it's an anthology series that just happens to center on the same small group of characters, and people were not used to that.

Same! I revisit these often, since while I love rewatching The Wire and Ted Lasso, for example, that's a huge time commitment so just getting these hour-long videos is perfect to get my fix.
