Jeff K.

Rear Window all day, every day. And then North by Northwest in the future, please and thank you.

Marko T.

Psycho is so good

maikeru

some creepy films for october/halloween: Event Horizon (1997) The Mothman Prophecies (2002) 1408 (2007) Blindness (2008) La piel que habito (2011) Bird Box (2018) Suspiria (2018)

Jean-Dominic Lapointe

Oh! Those are CLASSIC classics. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those.

PeppermintWizardOfAus

Superman catch up suggestion before next years reboot: Superman (1978) Superman II Richard Donner Cut (2006) Superman Returns (2006) And maybe thrown in The Suicide Squad (2021) and Peacemaker (2022) cause of James Gunn too

Xpndable

I know neither of these will win but both Network and Barry Lyndon are brilliant films

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Psycho reinvented thrillers so it gets my vote! Rear Window’s amazing too and my personal Hitchcock fave… Man, all of these are incredible films that deserve to win so it’s a hard choice

John Briggs

Psycho would make a great Halloween pick.

paul rai

Network, god what a masterpiece. Such a sadly resonating film for how media plays into exploitation of emotions and corporate ideology. Ned Beatty’s 5 minute monologue still shakes me to my core. So many phenomenal acting performances that it’s literally gushing of greatness from the screen.

Joe Williams

Yes. All of the above. Thanks.

Blank Elnino

I’d like for them to do the blob (1988) you don’t see a lot of reactors do that one.

JOEDATOR

Psycho and Taxi Driver are essential. And they make a great combination, seeing as how they were made decades apart, but both have an iconic score by the same composer, Bernard Herrmann.

Mitchell Bowker

Let’s all show Barry Lyndon some love and give it a vote.

Tim Nicolle

Barry Lyndon is a must at some point!

Ciarra Jade

I only heard of Chinatown and psycho but I’ve never seen any of these movies .. I’m intrigued to see who wins and watch it for the 1st time with you guys !

Bonny T

All three Hitchcock options are essential viewing and great picks for October, and Taxi Driver is my other pick.

Deco

Rear window or psycho would be great

Smooticus

just gotta keep voting when it comes up

Daniel Bjork

All great choices. Taxi Driver might be the greatest character study film ever made.

Smooticus

Once again, all good choices, and so many left off the list

Fernando Alamán

Great bunch this time. Any of them would be a worthy winner. Taxi Driver and Rear Window for me.

Smooticus

Pretty shocked neither have seen Psycho I had to give votes for Barry Lyndon (because it's such an amazingly shot movie and pretty well told story) and Network (an incredibly prescient movie about news turning into entertainment . Ned Beatty's monologue is just as relevant now as it was then)

Smooticus

Future classics suggestions Paths of Glory All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) Dr Zhivago The Man who Shot Liberty Valance Philadelphia Story Harvey The Sting High Noon El Cid

Jessi

Apart from Hitchcock, my pre-Midnight Cowboy film knowledge is a tad sparse. 🫣

pinkdino99

John Carpenter's The Fog, Prince of Darkness, Mouth of Madness. Can't have Halloween without Carpenter !

Rob Parry

A couple more classics to add to future lists All the Presidents Men 1976 and The Sting 1973

Creamish

omg i need you guys to watch all of these.

Raymond DeGraw

Looking forward to seeing your Hellboy reaction... Hoping for these in the near future... 1. Alita Battle Angel 2. The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) 3. Little Shop of Horrors (1986)(Theatrical) 4. Falling Down 5. The Monster Squad

Jeff K.

Hell yes to both. Two of the best movies not just of that era, but ever.

Keith Brown

Hitchcock ! Please find time to run all his classic films he did in the 50's. There are almost a dozen films from that era that go into the 60's with Psycho and The Birds. My all time favorite is 1959's North by Northwest !

Jacob King

Psycho!!! Whenever you guys do a poll with one highbrow movie thrown in with a bunch of crowd pleasers I’m always a little bit annoyed that it won’t win but give us a list of serious film school fodder and my crooked heart will always go for the schlock. I want to flag a seriously good CANADIAN movie for October, Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person. YouTube algorithm be dammed it’s a perfect piece of Halloween candy.

Lola Lirola

Some Like It Hot needed to be on this list. Marilyn at the peak of her fun, and it still holds up today!

The Gunslinger

Psycho and Rear Window are two masterpieces. Could you cover Rango?

Jay Davis

I'll keep voting Network until they get Mad As Hell!

lovemoose

Psycho! Just in time for spooky season

Byron Abrahams

Neck and neck between two phenomenal movies. Know you guys will do both.

JayF

All of these are great movies. The one I think you'll enjoy the most is Rear Window.

Random Nevermind

Two movies to consider for the next poll of that kind: Les diaboliques (1954) Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Dirge Girl

Obligatory autumnal recommendations: Over the Garden Wall (2014) [Adventure] Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) [Comedy] Ravenous (1999) [Horror] Fallen (1998) [Thriller]

Tim T—

Brazil (1985) counts as a modern classic, just saying.

JoeNotCharles

That was so much better than I expected it to be!

JoeNotCharles

And after All the President's Men, watch Dick, the comedy with Dan Hedaya as Nixon and Michelle Williams and Kirsten Dunst as "Deep Throat". (Seriously, you won't believe the cast on that movie.)

JoeNotCharles

Yeah, it gets overlooked but it's a surprisingly good sequel! Goes in a direction I didn't expect.

jmundt33a

Fallen, yes.Fantastic Mr. Fox is infuriating.

jmundt33a

Lots of great options in this list, I’d lean toward Hitchcock, but a lot of great options.

J Danger87

If you do Network you gotta do UHF too for the Weird Al version!

Baron Imhoof

I could have voted for several. I chose Network because it was Peter Finch's final role, for which he won a posthumous Academy Award, and his soliloquy instantly became considered one of the greatest in film history, with maybe the most iconic single line in film history.

Brendan Rafferty

Going with Taxi Driver, but any one of these films will do

AVATAR-X

+1 for Fallen

JoeE

Would also recommend dog day afternoon, some like it hot, treasure of the sierra madre

Boyan Konov

George would love network it's his favorite genre or competent people doing slimy things. All jokes aside network is considered by many screenwriters the greatest script ever written and lumets direction combined with career highlight performances from the cast make this a stone cold classic.

maikeru

I hate that I know the twist in psycho 😑

FWPJR.

You can vote for as many as you want to

FWPJR.

Awesome, another Weird Al fan.

MPH

Psycho and Taxi Driver are excellent.

Smellwell

This poll is amazing, great choices everyone!!!

Daniel

A Brazil reaction would be awesome. Reactors don't give Terry Gilliam's work much love unfortunately.

Matrim

It’s a tough one to pick this poll. Still I’m bummed Network is doing so poorly. I don’t expect it to win, but I would hope its numbers improve.

G P

Recommending: Eyes Wide Shut The Menu 12 Monkeys The Royal Tenenbaums The Conversation Blue Velvet Ed Wood Little Shop of Horrors Rocky Horror Picture Show

Alexrandom

Looks like we're going to get both taxi driver and psycho :) Very sad about Barry Lyndon though. I guess people are not voting for it because they did not see it. Might be one of the best film on this list..

G P

Unfortunate to see Barry Lyndon down so low, but I'm pretty sure its one of Kubrick's less-viewed films (although his best)

maikeru

It‘d be sooo great if S&G decided to watch Columbo.. all episodes! that would be priceless! They could watch that between Star Trek seasons. So many interesting episodes for G&S to explore.. even the weaker episodes are fun to watch

Jeb Manning

If you wanted to do a classics poll to coincide with the Halloween season, I'd recommend: -Dracula (1931) -Frankenstein (1931) -Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931) -The Mummy (1932) -King Kong (1933) -The Invisible Man (1933) -The Wolf Man (1941) -Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)

rick movienerd

For October you should consider watching Thirteen Ghosts.

HeyHeyJK

Can I vote for 'Network' 100 times? One of the most prophetic films ever made about and in my top ten favorite films of all time. Won bunches of awards. It is even more relevant now that it was then. I mean, pretty much every film on this list is great (I'm not a fan of 'The Birds' so much) but I have to only vote for 'Network' even though it's already losing. Sad face sobbing emoji would go here if I could add one.

Marko T.

Have you both seen Spider-Man 3 (2007)?

Jeff K.

And then Weird: the Al Yankovic Story, which is fantastic and hilarious.

The boy who cried WTF

Some more older movies: Marathon Man (1976) The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) Goldfinger (1964) For Halloween: Identity (2003) Sleepy Hollow (1999) Addams Family (1991), Part 2 (1993)

Haye Zeus

I just voted for all of these films.

Bill Woods

Humphrey Bogart movies: The Big Sleep (1946) The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) The African Queen (1951) The Caine Mutiny (1954) There are others. Not sure if it's old enough to be a "classic", but The Right Stuff (1983)

Annicorn

Barry Lyndon being the least voted… y’all are not serious people

Opti_Frog

Every film in this poll is some kind of amazing masterpiece. It all comes down to taste and preference. It's Hitchcock for me. I do wish Network would get some more love.

Pat. N

Wow, this is close. I hope Taxi Driver wins!

Amar

Please add "Fighting with my family" to sports poll guys. Also why hasn't their been a sports poll in so long? Not since Sandlot if i am not wrong.

Michael Buhl

All of these are "must watch" movies!!! There is not one on this poll that is not absolutely essential!!! On the one hand you win no matter what, but on the other hand not watching all 7 right away is a tragic loss.

Michael Buhl

That said, I think Network would be right up George's alley.

Spacedone

It's got to be The Maltese Falcon, if only so George can spot the Simpsons references.

Com1xguy

Hitchcock's Rope is another great classic. I like it a bit more than Rear Window.

Darin Foat

This is a great list. You should just do them all and call it Classics Week or something.

J Danger87

Maybe even some Spy Hard.

G P

Forget it Myles...

Kinokind

As everyone has said, all of these are essential. It's too bad Barry Lyndon isn't polling higher. I saw it in the theater and still think it's the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. Although I'd be hard pressed to remember the plot.

Michael Johnson

Where's the love for Network?? Such a darkly funny, compelling prophetic movie.

fmcmullan

Barry Lyndon deserves to win for its 'every frame a painting' cinematography alone.

cincassette

These are all 10/10 movies! I’m hopping it won’t take too long before you guys watch all of the remaining non–poll winners :D

cincassette

It really is excellent! I suppose it sort of in the shadow of Kubrick’s more well known and popular films.

Wrencher86

After you guys do Chinatown (which I will join everyone else and say you should do all of these sooner than later), I would *strongly* recommend putting Rango on your short list. That might seem odd, but you'll understand once you've seen both.

neilaslayer

I chose Network It seems chillingly relevant in these days of media consolidation.

Brandon Meng

This poll needs The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966) Consideration for other polls: Perks of Being a Wallflower (coming of age) Manchester by the Sea (depressing drama) Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (award-winning drama) Forgetting Sarah Marshall (rom-com) About Time (sci-fi/romance) Nebraska (father/son drama) Sideways (buddy comedy/drama) Eyes Wide Shut (Kubrick's last film, WTF did I just watch but it's still good drama) Love Actually (Christmas rom-com) Midnight in Paris (rom-com fantasy) Silver Linings Playbook (rom-com/drama) 500 Days of Summer (indie rom-com) Zack and Miri Make a Porno (Kevin Smith rom-com) Waiting ... (raunchy comedy, very little rom) Moonrise Kingdom (Wes Anderson rom-com) Blue Valentine (intense romance) Punch Drunk Love (off-beat rom-com) Lars and the Real Girl (tragicomedy) Waitress (light drama with some comedy and pies) She's Out of My League (Jay Baruchel raunchy rom-com) Walk Hard (musical rom-com) Sex Drive (raunchy teen rom-com pretty sure no one else has ever heard of) Warm Bodies (zombie rom-com) I Love You, Man (brom-com) ok ok ok ok ok ok, clearly I've gotten carried away ... cheers!

Godrick

One of these movies indirectly got a US president elected

Chase Schleich

Why so many old movies lately? I have no interest in any of these.

Duncan Carlton

Okay my problem with this poll is that you need to watch like at least half of these. Chinatown is a must but is like 4 or 5 right now haha

Peter Hudson

Well I do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, they'll do something you're more interested in soon

Peter Hudson

While Barry Lyndon is great, and pretty underrated among Kubrick's movies; I'd suggest Paths of Glory ahead of it a classic of his

Itbewhatitbe

welp, its a good thing this channel isnt made just for you only then Chase.

Twisty Twitties

You have to watch them all really, Its Non Negotiable.

TheGrimOne

Psycho!! Classic recommendations: Easy Rider Midway The Great Escape Other recommendations: The Last Starfighter The Last Dragon Night Watch (2004) Enemy Mine Dazed and Confused

Khalayx

Hahaha the last few Cinebinge polls had no movies I was interested in watching and this one I clicked every single one. I guess we're all here for different things. <3 good vibes to the whole diverse community.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

His work from the 30s and 40s are also incredible, but I understand the enduring popularity of the 50s and early 60s stuff.

Martin

Suggestions: 1. Cinderella Man 2. Miracle 3. Malcom X 4. The Hurricane 5. A Million Ways to Die in The West 6. The Dictator 7. The Founder 8. The Accountant

G P

No one cares

Bill Woods

There are more old movies than new ones? :-) Also, this poll asked for "classics".

Bill Woods

Oh heck, yes! I guess I unconsciously thought that they've seen Casablanca so of course they've seen Maltese Falcon.

Max Carter

I mean all these movies are phenomenal so you can't go wrong. That said I think Chinatown is my first pick, a true classic 10/10 film

Mike FromOz

I was going to recommend this movie as well. Absolute barn burner of a movie, and so well acted. Absolute recommendation, and it's totally worthy of its praise.

maikeru

If you’re looking for an awesome, incredibly well made short series to replace Star Trek for a while: Shōgun is the right choice IMO.. only 10 episodes. It‘s on disney+

maikeru

Pi Requiem for a dream The Fountain

maikeru

The two A Fistful of Dollars movies BEFORE The Good, The Bad… IMO

Bruce Liddle

All great films. But all just edged by Rear Window. One of my all time favourites. Great cast, great tempo, brilliant production. Marvellous : )

Bruce Liddle

Got to agree with you on all fronts there. Even the Breakfast At Tiffany's is spot on. Forbidden Plant is brilliant sci-fi. What's not to like? Ground-breaking special effects, based on Shakespeare's, The Tempest, Robbie the Robot and Leslie Neilson in straight, heroic mode.

ShōNuff3K

Classics: The Apartment Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Inherit The Wind It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance Some Like it Hot

Jack Smith

Mr Smith and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance are awesome movies. I hope they get to them...

China Andronicus

With spooky season approaching, Psycho and Rear Window should definitely be viewed. But Taxi Driver is a masterpiece as well.

JoeE

Love dazed and confused

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

I would add to your choices the following :- Metropolis (1927) - German expressionist science-fiction silent film, it was the 1st feature film length Sci-Fi film & set in 2026. The Man Who Could Work Miracles (1936) - British Comedy/Fantasy, a man who does not believe in them, has a power bestowed upon him unexpectedly. The Life & Death Of Colonel Blimp (1943) - British Romantic Drama, a flash back shows the people & events that shaped this Military veteran. Arsenic & Old Lace (1944) - U.S. Screwball Comedy/Crime, an eternal bachelor after tying the knot goes to tell his family, discovers strange goings-on. A Matter Of Life Or Death (1946) - British Fantasy/Romance, a man unexpectedly survives & must argue his case to continue to live in front of a Celestial Court. Bell, Book & Candle (1958) - Fantasy/Romantic Comedy, a woman in NYC bewitches a man engaged to her old college rival.

Jesse Coombs

Nice. All three of those are perfect movies.

Jesse Coombs

Billy Wilder is one of my favorite writer/directors. Some Like it Hot is perfect, but so is Sunset Boulevard, The Apartment, Double indemnity, Ace in the Hole, Sabrina, etc etc. I could go on and on.

jmundt33a

Cinecringe for the win.

jmundt33a

God, women get put through the wringer in that one.

Jesse Coombs

Oh that's wild. I didn't realize that. I think Herrmann is my favorite film composer then.

Jesse Coombs

I love '78 Superman! No actor has ever been as perfect for Superman.

Opti_Frog

It's worth seeing for Ned Beatty alone.

Jay Davis

I'd recommend Tora! Tora! Tora! before Midway. IYKYK ...not sure either would do "well" monetarily. But, as 70s war pictures go, these are two great ones.

Mike FromOz

Sad that "Barry Lyndon" came in last, but I don't think many people have seen it. But it's like an oil painting come to life. So wonderful. It'll get its chance.

Noah Smith

Thank goodness Taxi Driver is winning over Psycho. Hopefully Barry Lyndon gets watched at some point too

Rachel W

A truly(freakishly)prescient and truly terrifying film? "A Face In The Crowd"(1957)

maikeru

never seen it but I‘ll watch it soon

maikeru

Single White Female (1992)

Lola Lirola

I think Some Like It Hot is the perfect introduction, and from there go to The Apartment, then Double Indemnity, then Sunset Boulevard.

Noel Valdez

I’d love for you guys to see Chinatown because Who Framed Roger Rabbit is basically a remake of it. Lol 😂 but any of these would be dope I love all these movies. Network is a one I saw recently and loved it. Very relevant to our times now.

Mycenaeus

You must have collected thousands of movie suggestions by now, so it does feel a little pointless to add any more, especially if they are unlikely to win a poll. "The Great Gabbo" (1929) would, however, be quite a treat.

Ginger

"Downfall" ("Der Untergang") would be another Or "Interstate 60" - very underrated film with an insane cast. I don't know if nobody reacts to a film nobody reacts to BECAUSE nobody reacts to it (so there may not be many clicks). There are certainly trend films that, once enough people react to them, they pop up anywhere. That being said, one of the reasons why this is my favorite channel of this kind is that they also watch movies that nobody else watches, like "Con Air".

Ginger

I'm not going to say what it is but a couple of weeks ago, you guys mentioned: "Wouldn't it be crazy if XYZ happened in a film?" and I immediately thought of one of the poll winners. Really excited about that (sorry if this is super cryptic but I don't want to spoil anything. ^^)

Wally Hartshorn

I'll definitely cast my vote for "The Player", especially now that they are more familiar with some of the actors who appeared in it. It's one of my favorites!

Matthew Blackwood

Interstate 60 rules! A must for any Back to the Future completist too!
