This was my nephews favorite movie when it came out years ago, he would watch it over and over again until I couldn’t stand it anymore lol I’ve actually never really paid much attention to it tbh but I might watch this reaction just because it’ll bring back memories of when my nephew was a little kid.

Emily G

You guys should watch Into the Woods (2014) or The Producers (2005) they have hardly any reactions from creators. ❤️ Thanks for all your hard work!

Big MCD

Shanghai Noon and now Cars? Wow.

woodsfish

Have you guys seen Surfs Up ? if not , would love to see it in the animated polls 👍🙏

Raven Dark

Ohhh, I've been thinking about recommending that one since I saw The Cocoa Couch react to it a few weeks ago. I also would love for Simone and George to react to The Wild Robot. I recently saw that one, and it's brilliant. They'd love it.

Gunnar Rea

The purpose of a pacecar is to slow the field down so the trackside staff can clean up the track safely, as the alternative would be stopping the race entirely..

Joshua Couch

Beat me to it, I was going to add that in European motorsport its called a "safety car", kinda clues you in as to what it's for

Josh B.

Yes please do A Bugs Life and the Toy Story movies :D

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

Wondering if they noticed they posted 2 movies with Owen Wilson back to back, also The Incredibles and Cars were practically produced simultaneously which is why it didn't have anything for a Cars version. John Goodman is credited due to their dialogue on the small Cars version of Monsters Inc.

lovemoose

Yes please watch a bugs life! And ratatouille eventually!

King_Panarisi

Toy Story and Ratatouille next please

Maiki

Thanks guys, that was a lot of fun. Perfect for a lazy fall sunday. Ratatouille would be amazing, still my favourite pixar.

Odd Thomas

Nimona is a great animated movie you should watch next

Raven Dark

This was a super fun reaction, Simone and George! I loved it. George, I'm right there with you, I love Mater, haha. I find excuses to talk like him as often as I can. While the voice casting for everyone in this movie is great, I particularly loved the voice for Doc (the older ex-racer who won all the Piston Cups. I especially loved how it sounded when he showed up near the end to help Lightning, and we heard it in Lightning's racing mic. He just has the perfect voice for that, a mix of tough older mentor and grandfatherly warmth that makes you want to have him talk you through a tough spot. I would be down for a reaction to A Bug's Life. And Antz, though , George, you mentioned that A Bug's Life would just be ants, and I wasn't sure if you meant the characters would just be actual ants, or if that means you have seen the film Antz. IF you haven't you should. It's great. I also have two recommendations for movies that have nothing to do with what you were asking for here, but I think you'd both absolutely love. -The Croods -The Wild Robot The Croods is a slightly older film that has a great story, fantastic music, excellent performances from the whole cast, and a gorgeous message that's handled perfectly. The Wild Robot is a newer film I recently saw, and I love. I'm sort of surprised you two haven't ended up jumping on that one, because the animation style is a lot like Arcane, and it has a story that's practically made for both of you.

Mr. Writhms

Speaking of animation... Please consider the Netflix series: "Love, Death, and Robots".

North

One of my favorite movies of all time

Odd Thomas

A good Paul Newman/Tom Hanks movie to watch is Road to Perdition

Rupert Purcat

As if redheads can have emotions - they would need a soul....

D. T. Nelson

The IMDb cast list includes the actors whos voices appear at the end of the film in the "cars" recreations of earlier Pixar films. So, John Goodman played Sully-car in the Monster Cars scene.

David Lonewolf Wright

I was a little worried that Simone was going to go, Paul Newman, the salad dressing guy?... and then die a little inside. For some excellent movies with Paul Newman, you should check out The Hustler, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and the Sting. Oh my, I never caught the, "Is he going to pose for Cargirl?" There is a Wigwam Motel, which the Traffic Cone Motel was based off of. I don't believe there are any tunnels like that on Route 66, but north a bit in Zion National Park there are. There are no waterfalls like that near the roads. Now you have to watch the movie that they borrowed the story from called Doc Hollywood.

Noel Valdez

My only knowledge of cars comes from Grand Turismo. 😂 also I loved this movie as a kid looking back it’s a good kids movie. The rest of the franchise is awful though. lol

Mastervodo

I'm watching this awesome reaction, and towards the end, all I can see is Luna loving up against Simone, and Simone not petting Luna! I'm like yelling (in my mind) SIMONE! WHY ARE YOU NOT PETTING LUNA! WHY DO YOU NOT LOVE YOUR KITTY? We need some Luna Merch right now, with a T-shirt that says, "I'm Luna. Why does Simone not love me?"

Chase Lonnergan

Someone did make about based on "What if food had feelings?". It was... Controversial. Yeah. We will go with "Controversial". That's the word.

REDR58

Paul Newman and Steve McQueen cannot be missed in “The Towering Inferno” (1974) l, one of the great classic disaster movies.

REDR58

For that great insult to my redhead I challenge you to a duel, water pistols at dawn (slaps face with glove).

silverarrow06

That was a great and fun reaction! I would love for you to react to "The Wild Robot" soon, it's such a beautiful movie with a wonderful story...🤩

Justtired

John Ratzenberger (Mack) was the voice of the Underminer at the end of The Incredibles, also. 🤣

Mastervodo

Maggie! She's not petting Maggie either! Why?!? Why does Simone not love Maggie either!?!

Foggy

please do the toy story franchise next!

Cory Morrison

Definitely do A Bug’s Life and the Toy Stories!

Imnot Acop

Pace cars are mainly to keep the people who are on the track at a speed that safe for people getting into their correct positions and when people are coming out of the pit.

Logan Kerlee

lmao, George - you're thinking too hard on this. :P hahaha, way to go Simone on reigning George in! xD I like this movie quite a bit. :) It's good stuff! <3 This is a world of cars, yeah. :P lol, what the hell is that poster Simone?! I dig it. :) I don't think that it'd be that fun, really. My mom loved i but it just isn't my jam. Watching the races, I mean. I'm out of the loop on all things racing, I'm not sure on the pace car situation. lol, they're just traffic cones as far as I know. Pretty sure that it's a pride thing, not wanting to ask for directions. Wow.. just finished watching the entire reaction. This movie's flipping awesome!! I got emotional toward the end of the movie, too. lmao, I don't typically become emotional over anything and that nonsense did the trick for some reason. xD Had a blast watching with you guys! George, Simone you're both awesome! <3

Wally Hartshorn

Pixar films (ignoring sequels) in order of release: 1995: Toy Story 1998: A Bug's Life 2001: Monsters, Inc. 2003: Finding Nemo 2004: The Incredibles 2006: Cars 2007: Ratatouille 2008: WALL-E 2009: Up 2012: Brave 2015: Inside Out 2015: The Good Dinosaur 2017: Coco 2020: Onward 2020: Soul 2021: Luca 2022: Turning Red 2023: Elemental

Wally Hartshorn

re: Pace car When there's a problem on the track, they temporarily "pause" the race. However, rather than having everyone come to a stop, they just put a pace car out front, with all of the cars staying behind it, driving at a slower pace. In addition, none of the other cars are allowed to pass each other during this time. That's why it was important for Lightning to re-enter the race track in front of the pace car, so that he would be considered to be on the same lap as the other cars rather than a lap down.

djKENTO

The first film to use ray-tracing.

Imnot Acop

Fun fact; not only is the story of Route 66 a very infamous, sad, and true one, but this movie actually had a very significant real-world impact on the road, bringing a lot of traffic back to lots of small towns along the route. THis is my favorite Pixar movie in part thanks to that.

Skyruff

Ah-ha, Simone finally turns the table and annoy George (on camera), "Called it!"

mayhem74

Really hoping y'all continue your peek into the world of motorsport! For future poll consideration, please consider "Rush" (2013, directed by Ron Howard, stars Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl) about the 1976 F1 world championship. Like "Ford v Ferrari" it's a great (true) story and a great movie.

Felreign

I would love a reaction to Ratatouille

RichieRich

Great reaction, I would love to see the first 3 Toy Story movies on here.

REDR58

I don’t think they have watched Rush yet but they did indeed see Ford V Ferrari.

droodly

If your looking for more "things without emotions feeling emotions" animated movies how about "Sausage Party (2016)"? Lots of emotions in that. :P Also, I have read on the internet that there is a prequel to Cars that sets up the universe called "Maximum Overdrive (1986)".

Matthew G

Lightning's Rust-eze sponsors were played by Tom and Ray Magliozzi, the hosts of Car Talk on NPR. They closed every show with each saying don't drive like my brother!

REDR58

I’ve never heard anyone in the US refer to them as a anything other than “traffic cones.”

BangDroid

My pitch to Pixar would be planets with emotions, also other celestial bodies, like stars, blackholes, pulsars etc. No idea of the plot, but it would be cool.

REDR58

Wonderful reaction. This was yet another first-time watch for me. The "Piston Cup" is a play on a real NASCAR race series, the "Winston Cup" (as in the Winston Cigarettes) that lasted from 1971 to 2003. People who attend NASCAR races can actually park their RVs and camp in the center (or infield) of the track area at certain tracks. NASCAR racecars do not have sideview mirrors (though other types of motor racing cars do) but they do have an internal (and huge) central review mirror inside. The cars have no head or tail lights and just have decorative ones like in the movie. The cars can exceed 200 MPH on some tracks and the longest race is 600 miles/400 laps at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina and the race takes about 4 hours to run. There are a few tracks with "road courses" that are not simply ovals and they turn left and right following the course. When McQueen was daydreaming about fighting alien tripods, those were huge car engine spark plugs on legs. Doc Hudson is based on the cars of a real racing series, the "Fabulous Hudson Hornet" and Doc is designed to look like one of the real cars: https://www.hotcars.com/1952-fabulous-hudson-hornet-nascar-racer/

Eric Tanaka

In regards to the part of the conversation about this movie being the last VHS release and first Blu Ray release, people really hung on to the old ways. Back then people were losing their minds that their VHS collections were going out of date and would have to upgrade to DVDs. But at the same time we still sell DVDs of things nowadays and that technology is pretty old by now and they really don't look good. Eventually they'll go away and you'll just have Blu Rays and 4K Blu Rays, if we still have physical media at all, and people will look back and wonder why we sold DVDs for as long as we did 😂

J.R. Mart

Yall should check out turbo it about racing snails it a cartoon movie

WayneC

Some of the voices were: Mario Andretti - 1978 F1 World Champion, 4 x IndyCar (USA version of F1) champion. Michael Schumacher Ferrari - Michael Schumacher, 7 x F1 World Champion. Darrell Cartrip - Darrell Waltrip, 3 x NASCAR champion. The King - Richard Petty, 7 x NASCAR champion, most wins in NASCAR (200). Mrs The King - Lynda Petty, wife of Richard Petty.

WayneC

Traffic cones are also known as "witches hats" here.

WayneC

Some racing movies worth watching: Rush - the story of the 1976 F1 World Championship between Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth). Le Mans - the fictional story of a race between Ferrari and Porsche at Le Mans in the 1970s, starring Steve McQueen Grand Prix - finctinal story of an F1 championship season in the 1960s, starring James Garner. If Simone has trouble with the big crashes, she probably shouldn't watch a NASCAR race. Thankfully, safety has come a long way and bad injuries are much rarer. This trivia from IMDB about the movie "Grand Prix" puts how bad safety was in the 1960s and 1970s: "Of the 32 professional racing drivers who participated or were seen in the film, five died in racing accidents within two years and another five in the following ten years".

REDR58

While I love Le Mans (1971), it’s almost more like a documentary than a real movie without much of a story so I don’t know. But I’d love to see them react to it.

REDR58

As someone who eventually got a fair number of movies on VHS and taped a lot of stuff of TV in the 1990s, I never want to go back to that for nostalgic reasons or otherwise. Even at the time I hated how crappy the video quality was. I’ve been recently transferring much of my old DVD collection that I don’t have a Blu-ray/4K version of to my Plex server and while a few of the movies look “okay” most of the transfers are absolutely horrendous looking, little better than how they looked on VHS. But unfortunately some things that did get a release on DVD were simply never released to Blu-ray or even streaming.

Grand Moff Slackin'

Oh, *halls*. She said “halls”. Halls brand lozenges were the objects being juggled. Halls. H.

Cinebinge

both kitties purrs are super loud so I have to try not to pet them during filming *cries* but don't worry. they get so many cuddles off screen <3

Jaden

In most racing the pace (or safety) car is there to slow the race down after a crash to clear debris and safely restart the race.

windyWin

You both haven't seen Toy Story? Toy Story 1 and 2, A Bug's life, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo, all came out when I was between the ages of 5-14. I remember at 14, wagging (not attending school when you're supposed to be there) to stay home unattended, use 56k modem dialup internet, going on P2P networks, and spending all day downloading Finding Nemo while it was out in theaters. I remember feeling like I cracked the code because I was watching something I usually had to pay for.

Trevor S Bright

You guys should watch Paul Newman's last live action movie, "Road to Perdition" from 2002 based on a graphic novel starring Tom Hanks. It's about 1920s/30s era gangsters.

Gary Fixler

That Joe Ranft dedication at the end is a sad one. I remember hearing back then about his death, and I had known he was one of the big names at Disney and Pixar, and the voice of the caterpillar in A Bug's Life (which is really fun like this movie). I had heard his car went off the edge of Highway 1, which is a seaside road with a sheer drop on one side (I've driven it a few times, and some parts are a little scary). While it was sad, I rolled my eyes, and had an image in my head of him in some way-too-powerful sports car, going way too fast, like all of these rich idiot car guys here in LA, crashing $100k cars, and endangering everyone else. Nearly a decade later, I remembered, and looked up what actually happened, and then felt bad for judging him so quickly. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was a Honda Element, which cost less than my Toyota pickup truck, and is not at all made for racing. He wasn't even driving, and the vehicle speed was determined to have been around 30MPH, which isn't fast. Ranft worked for the Mosaic program, which paired successful businessmen with men trying to straighten out their lives. He, and two such men from Watts (a high-crime/poverty area of LA), were on their way to a Mosaic retreat in Mendocino. Ranft was letting one of the men drive. The wheels slipped off the road, and he tried to correct, but couldn't, and they tumbled down a 130ft drop. One of the two men survived. It's like every part of this was the opposite of what I imagined in my head from the headline. Seems like Joe was a pretty awesome dude. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/marinij/name/joe-ranft-obituary?pid=14868675 The Death and legacy part of his wiki page it also sweet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Ranft#Death_and_legacy

Definitely check out "A Bug's Life"! I watched it a while back for the first time since I was a kid, and it was surprisingly good. Also throwing in a suggestion for the newer movie "The Wild Robot". It's great as well!

GBmain

We had A Bugs Life on a "VCD" when I was a kid, I wore that movie out... (Everyone used to confuse it with ANTZ that came out around the same time. Weird how that happens.) A Bug's Life gets my vote!

Keerit Thind

I remember watching this in cinemas. I was more impressed with the short beforehand than the actual feature film. One Man Band is still my favourite Pixar short.

Joseph Collier

If you guys ever get out to California you should check out Cars Land (Radiator Springs) at Disney's California Adventure. It's very well done.

Noel Valdez

i know these movies are polarizing which makes me happy that everyone I know either wants to go or loves the carsland even people who hate the movies lol.

Rav Low

Can confirm: On TV NASCAR races are pretty mid, but in person, it really is INTENSE, like it just sucks you in, you don't really have an option to be bored.

Rav Low

IIRC the Pace Car is mostly after a big crash kinda situation or an issue where the race needed to largely race to get things back up and running. These LONG LONG races are mostly time based, not "who's in first" physically.
