So what’s taking this spot in the schedule next week? (I’m not proud of myself right now.)

Śéáń

Really enjoyed this (re)watch through, can't wait to finish it this evening. I'm sure there will be opportunity for you guys to watch the other Flanagans in future, I think Midnight Mass in particular will be up your streets Also lookong forward to getting back to BCS too. Great few weeks ahead!

Dragonhunter

They'll rewatch Breaking Bad to prepare for Better Call Saul.

Śéáń

For every complaint about BCS not being on the ticket, another miniseries should be placed ahead of it in the queue. It makes no economic sense for the channel/Patreon but it would greatly entertain me, personally.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Luke’s and the Dudleys’ final scenes are true back to back gut punches. A wonderfully moving and scary series of TV! Also love how this vid opens with talk of the episode then three minutes later talking about getting kicked in the nuts for a Mars bar. Never change legends haha.

Jeb Manning

So now that you've watched this, I've got to recommend checking out the 1963 adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House called The Haunting. While I do really like this series and think it's a great show, it's a really bad adaptation of one of my favorite books. The Haunting is one of the best horror movies of the 1960's, and it's a top contender for one of the best haunted movies ever. It would make for such a great follow-up to this series.

Ira K.

Great series, great reactions as always! I'm not sure what George means by saying it's been renewed for season 2 though. It's an anthology series, so season 2 technically is Haunting of Bly Manor, which is a new story. So it goes like this: Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and The Fall of The House of Usher. They are all a complete story and every single one of them is great :) My favorite by far is Midnight Mass! Flanagan wanted to do Midnight Mass for years, and it's certainly his magnum opus. Hope this clears up the confusion! The ghosts are just there, they stay in the house and not all of them are bad. I think Poppy is the only one responsible for every bad thing happening there, she was clinically insane in life, and she stayed insane in death. The ghost haunting Luke is a metaphor for addiction, and it's not the bowler hat guy, it's their mom - basically a representation of death following him around for years, waiting for him. Really love your channel, can't wait for Better Call Saul!

Ira K.

I'm also once again going to recommend German TV series Dark. It's a masterpiece, and I'm gonna literally cry happy tears if you watch it! You will love it, I promise. Write it down in your secret notebook with the list of series to watch in the future, please! :)

Josip Buretić

I second everything you have said!! Dark is excellent 🫶🏻

beecroft adams

I think steve is much worse than Shirley because he lied about having children to his wife for years. Steve also expolited his family's past.

Josip Buretić

I also agree here with you 😜😊 Midnight Mass is alsoy favorite Flanagan's show but I also love Usher Family and Bly Manor. The only thing I don't agree with you is about BCS 🤭 but that is just my opinion 😁 but I am happy for you 🤗

Urbanform

I hope you guys coninue with Mike Flanagan's work and watch Midnight Mass next. I personally like it more than Hill House and it is his best work with quality acting(better than Hill house). And the other show I would like to recommend is Severance s1 with the next season coming in January next year. Maybe for the future after you finish Better Call Saul you can add Dexter to your watch list. Thank you!

Josip Buretić

I have "stupid" question 🙈 are you also maybe from Germany or did you just fall in love with Dark 😊

Ira K.

It baffles me that Midnight Mass has a lower rating on Rotten Tomatoes than Hill House. From what I've seen, the monologues put some people off, but those just scream Flanagan to me! He is the master of long, heart-wrenching monologues.

Stugotz

Yeah I don't think George knows that it's an anthology and season 2 is a completely different story.

Ira K.

I'm not from Germany, I just love the show! Also, I'm technically German from my mother's side, but they were Volga Germans (Wolgadeutsche) and my family completely lost the language after being moved into work camps during the WW2. Dark helped me learn some German👍

Crystal

"screaming meemies" is an alliterative term (apparently mostly 'murican) for someone fully freaking out, it was probably a fad slang term around the time Poppy was up to her shenanigans. I have heard it from my gramma who was born around that time, and is from Ohio. And you gotta love the name Poppy since drugs/poisons generally played such a big part in this story. so well adapted!!

D. T. Nelson

The woman who walked away with Abagail's ghost was Mr. Dudley's mother (The one he described as being "scattered"). If you remember his monologue, she died in the house. Season 2 is a completely different story and has been on Netflix for a while now — The Haunting of Bly Manor. (It has a few of the same actors, but playing different characters) Yeah... The red room is basically an evil room of requirement. I think Shirly's fear and guilt over what she had done was all-consuming. She could't forgive anyone else because it would be like forgiving herself... something she couldn never do. The Poem recited by Poppy was in Shirly Jackson's original novel (though SUNG there by the character of Luke—the story is actually quite different in the novel). The source of the poem/song is from a macbre folk ballad from the 1930s (I believe), and is based on an actual murders (from the late 1800s) of the Wratten family.

mojo shivers

I was just going to agree with the others that when the renewal for this came down that it was for “The Haunting of Bly Manor” and not a proper season two. That was an excellent series too, but its own entity. Flanagan always carries some actors over like his wife and the great Pedretti, but likes his separate stories.

Josip Buretić

And I love them in Midnight Mass, so many great monologues!! And acting is one of the best I have ever seen.

Urbanform

Is it? Must be because of the topic(religion), people usually are sensitive towards such issues. According to me Mike Flangan handled the topic quite well. The monologue between Riley and Erin felt dragged but it was still impactful. Infact I found the dialogues and acting in Hill House to be inauthentic and unatural at times & that sort of drew me out of many scenes. The story, acting, dialogues, and the cinematography in Midnight Mass is superior to Hill House and it feeels conclusive and satisfying in the end.

Josip Buretić

Thank you for sharing your family story ♥️ I am actually Croat but I live now for over 25 years in Germany😊 First time I watched Dark I was sceptic about it because I really don't like German show but Dark is just excellent!! Great story and acting is also on point. I watched so much reactiona for Dark 🤭 but now it has been awhile since I watched one and I would love to watch Simone&George react to it that would really be great.

Ira K.

Hill House is more theatrical, it feels more like a play to me than a typical TV show. I think that's why some directing choices (like Two Storms episode) and acting feel different and sometimes unnatural, it's just a bit unusual. To me, it feels like I'm watching a play. The language and acting just scream theater to me. I love it. Midnight Mass is also quite theatrical at times, I think, but not as much as Hill House. Maybe you are right about people being sensitive to the topic. I also think that Flanagan handled it with grace, he was an altar boy when he was a child if I remember correctly. He knew what he was doing with this story.

China Andronicus

Vasectomies are generally reversible, so Steve would most likely be able to have kids, no problem. The ending with the Dudleys at the house will never cease to make me cry, no matter how many times I've seen this show. The other one that gets me is Nell saying "I am not gone. I'm scattered into so many pieces, sprinkled on your life like new snow." After losing my dad far too soon, I can't handle that line.

Stugotz

Well it's all subjective. I liked Hill House the most out of any of them but they're all good. Though if I'm to be honest, while I liked Midnight Mass it was my least favorite of the bunch.

bfunk3778

My Flanagan Netflix rankings: 1. Hill House 2. Midnight Mass 3. Bly Manor 4. House of Usher

Thomas Yanez

It causes me almost physical pain when they focus so hard on show titles where they are just too young/underexposed to be familiar with a piece of dated vernacular. Sometimes, when they are confused about a title like "Screaming Meemies", I wish George would just pass it through Urban Dictionary or a similar site that won't have a chance of spoiling the show, but could help with understanding the phrase. Then again, sometimes they can come up with some pretty entertaining - if ridiculous - possibilities.

sarCC

If you wanna watch more Mike Flanagan before committing to another of his [mini-]series, his other movies are really good, too. Oculus, Ouiga: Origin Of Evil, Gerald's Game, and Hush are all excellent, and the latter was co-written by and stars Kate Siegal("Theo").

Stugotz

Can I just say, Simone has been on fire with her plot predictions. She's been knocking them out of the park lately!

Urbanform

You are right, Hill House does feel theatrical or like a play. Yes, during those long takes the acting seemed a bit off. For me the story felt like a drag. If it was shorter by a episode or two maybe. Even I read in some YT comments about Mike Flanagan's history with church. I believe the story for Midnight Mass was originally written by him and thats why he had a better grasp on it.

Ira K.

I agree, they are all good and it's very subjective. I think my least favorite one is The Fall of the House of Usher, but it's still a good show. It's hard for me to dislike anything Flanagan does, he is one of those directors who could never disappoint me :)

Arthur

Just so I'm 100% clear. When is Better Call Saul starting back?

Urbanform

I agree its subjective. I personally rate Midnight Mass and Bly Manor higher than Hill House even though the story of HH is emotionally touching. As an overall show I find the other two complete and well rounded in comparison.

Urbanform

My Flanagan Netflix rankings: 1. Midnight Mass 2. Bly Manor 3. Hill House 4. Didnt go past the first episode of House of Usher

Inkpendude

Haunting of hill house season 2? What did Geogre read exactly lmao

Inkpendude

I think they did knew, they mentioned it a couple of episodes ago. I thin they just forgot and George read some very old news on google

Stugotz

I may be wrong but I think you guys still believe that it was the mom's ghost that the dad was talking to throughout the show, it wasn't. He explained it to Luke in episode 7 when he said it's a coping mechanism, she's just a figment of his imagination talking to him.

Stugotz

I don't think you can quantify which one is worse, they both did horrible things. Trying to say which is worse is irrelevant.

Thomas Yanez

And, in the chat after the mom shoo'd Poppy away from the dad, she told him (paraphrased), "No, that wasn't me, that was you."

Thomas Yanez

I think he was just doing some sloppy google. Since I know a HoHH S2 never happened, I googled the phrase "haunting of hill house season 2" and the very first thing listed was a link to IMDB with the text, "Netflix renewed The Haunting of Hill House for Season 2..." and I don't think he read any further, 'cause the same text mentions it is a different story. And, if you click the link, it's a 2019 article.

I don't find that Shirley's past came "out of the blue" because they hinted at it all the way back in episode 2, we knew there was something else going on with her but they just didn't reveal it until the end. She kept seeing her ghost all throughout the series so I don't feel like it was something that was tacked on at the end.

Kris Brown

For me it is: Hill House, Usher (I've been a sucker for Poe all my 49 years of life), Midnight Mass, Bly.

Odd Thomas

Bly Manor is every bit as good so I highly recommend it!

auntxeSERVER

Really hope you guys get into midnight mass it’s amazing!!

HeyHeyJK

I concur and, to copy CB's post under the video thumbnail above ... Midnight Mass starts SOON! Midnight Mass starts SOON! Midnight Mass starts SOON!

Nightlight Stories

This is the first time I've seen someone's ranking mirror my own LOL. I know Bly Manor and Midnight Mass get voted quite highly, but I personally don't find them as good as Hill House or House of Usher.

Nightlight Stories

I've never read the book but after watching this show it always seemed like The House was an allegory for depression and all the ghosts its victims. The house managed to bring out the worst in all of those people and as depression manifests in many different ways, so did it for the former residents. The old lady wasting away in her bed not willing to do anything. The bowler hat man floating around endlessly with seemingly no purpose. Poppy being driven manic and trying to "wake up" from a horrible dream knowing what her life used to be once upon a time. And Poppy's experience mimics Olivia's which is why that scene at the end of EP9 is so important. Olivia is trying to wake up to what her life used to be because "the house" has a hold of her and she doesn't feel that way anymore. Bowler hat man was the one who also sealed himself inside a wall. His surroundings now reflecting the way he feels inside, floating endlessly in a sea of black, much like what Theo also experienced she touched Nell. As for the Red Door to me it represents that part of our brains that calms us down, helps us repress how we truly feel so that we think everything is ok while "the house" slowly digests us. Could be reaching, but it's definitely my head-canon.

Alina

Wonderful series! I'm very glad you enjoyed this and hope that you continue on with the other Flanagan series - The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher. I loved them all!

Thomas Yanez

I'm your average 56 year old emotionally stunted American male and I've watched this series at least a dozen times, either by myself or with reactors... and, the final scene with the Dudleys makes me cry. Every. Damn. Time. Hope I get to see you guys visit Bly Manor and attend Midnight Mass.

mojo shivers

Yeah. That makes sense. They were so adamant though that I had to double check myself.

Crystal

mind bending with the timey wimey tho, get ready!

Philipp Roensch

Well that was a tragic and beautiful ending, certainly in the tops for me as well. I love how the perspectives and hauntings came together. Relating the ghosts/haunts to love being the kicker here, rationality vs letting those feeling in is made each of them more or less vulnerable. The Dursley family dying broke me as well. Perfect, no notes. And an amazing reaction with you guys, keeping those predictions coming, and sharing your feelings with us :).

Śéáń

I feel so bad for Mrs. Dudley in all this. She unwittingly helps the house by giving Liv genuinely heartfelt advice that accidentally pushes her towards Poppy's influences. I also like how Liv's 'possession' isn't possession, but instead malignantly influenced by the Poppy. It adds another layer of tragedy to the whole thing.

mky

Flanagan's "Exorcist" project is a remake of the original, told from the point of view of the barfed up pea soup (voiced by his wife, Kate Siegel). 😏

Jobbe Smit

You can buy sage unethically by buying White Sage which has a really limited supply and strong symbolic value to a bunch of Native American religions. It's usage has been heavily suppressed and that still limits supply today. So buying it is a bit akin to at one point everyone buying quinoa to such an extend the farmers started to export it to the West at the expense of the locals who couldn't afford to buy the local grains nor could afford to import alternatives. Demands can dictate supply :P

myinniemademedoit

For anyone who has read the book, how was it? I love this series and plan to read the book.

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

I'd love to write an essay here, but I'll just say this: 10/10. 5 stars. 17 thumbs up. This might be at least the 10th time I've watched it and every time that anyone I know is going to watch it, for the first time or not, I'm always going to be there. Like everyone else is saying: Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, House of Usher. Do not poll, do not pass GO, do not collect $200.

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

ALSO!!!: Just hearing you guys talk about the Exorcist sequels reminded me that Exorcist 3 is actually a very good horror film!

Śéáń

Just finished the last episode. I'm so delighted you guys liked it as much as I thought you would (I must have pushed it as a suggested short show a dozen times in the comments over the past year or so..!) It's an exceptional piece of television, probably my favourite thing that Netflix has made. Genuinely beautiful and holds up really well to rewatches. Nell was Victoria Pedretti's first acting gig straight out of school and she knocks it out of the park. Her scene in the room is beautiful, and the "They weren't our last" line is a gut punch to me every time. Finally, I would strongly recommend looking up the hidden ghost compilations after the fact, there's too many to catch just by watching through the show.

Beard2134

The book is very differnt form the show. Mike took ideas and themes from the book but don't go into the book thinking it will be anything like the show. The book is one of my favorites, though. Its more of people going into the house to investigate hauntings and all the people in show are named for the people in the book.

Beard2134

I would say that Midnight Mass is my favorite, and would love them to go into that next followed by Bly then Usher.

Śéáń

That's my recommended watch order too, if only to break up Hill House and Bly Manor slightly as the settings are the most similar, so having MM as a pallette cleanser can mitigate direct comparisons between them.

Śéáń

Kate would crush that pea soup vomit role

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

Riley's monologue about what happens when we die might be my favorite Flanalogue of all. My philosophy right there.

Brandon

Special shout out to Samantha Sloyan as Steve's wife Leigh for being one of the best regular actors that Mike Flanagan casts in his projects. That whole speech where "Leigh" rips Steve to shreds is so ice cold. She is unbelievably amazing in Midnight Mass... and you will definitely not like her character one bit. 😆

myinniemademedoit

Yeah, I’ve heard they are different, which I actually kind of prefer. I like comparing what a show/movie does differently, for better or worse. Some things are better in print and some things are better visually. One of my favorite novels is The Shining. I love both the movie and the book, despite the, at times, drastic differences.

Owen 'Boots' Davies

Fingers crossed for Midnight Mass, as I loved it about as much as I loved this, and its shorter!

brismithejedi

Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite shows of all time. I don't get tired of watching reactions to it. As you said, it's so much more than a horror series.

Raquel.Veros

As a cat person I really really want to know Simone and George's cat names, I find it rude that I watch them almost everyday and know pretty much nothing about them, lol. Guys, this is my first time EVER becoming a patreon, EVER. And oh man I'm glad I did, you guys are great, such a good balance of personalities between you two, it just makes every reaction super special. That being said, I really hope Midnight Mass makes it here, would love to watch along since it has become one of my favorites

Cinebinge

Welcome! Simones Cats: Luna / Maggie Georges Cat: Lychee

JoeE

Regarding the kids not leaving, the parents weren’t looking at the house then as a threat they thought the mom was super stressed and needed to get away and rest. They probably thought taking the kids with her wouldn’t be helpful

Tee Pee

Hugh said that the Liv he talked to outside of the House was a coping mechanism....

dennis bay

I'm a dream and your a dream.. and so are we.. Throughout the whole series, such great acting.. and then they gave us Poppy .. awesome performance. Hard to choose whose acting is better.. som many great moments.

sarCC

The other best TV dads I can think of right now are Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) on Friday Night Lights and Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni) from Veronica Mars. Two great shows you'll both love if you haven't seen yet.

MacGuffinStuff

Apparently male witches do not like being called warlocks, I heard it's from an Old English word meaning someone who breaks oaths. I don't know that's just what I heard, I'm not a witch. Wow what a show, and speaking of horror that goes well beyond horror, gotta take the opportunity to plug another recommendation, again, and that's Bram Stoker's Dracula. It's not only far and away my favorite vampire movie and one of my favorite horror movies but one of my favorite movies in general. I thought of it during the Underworld reaction, when George asked when the sexy vampire trope began, I'm sure it goes back a long way on literature (Dracula by Bram Stoker) but in film it goes back to at least Bela Lugosi as Dracula in the 30s, I think he was considered a sex symbol.

SpankTheMonk

So just to post this because no one seems to be asking, and I have seemingly lost the ability to read what is written. But like, when is Better Caul Saul…. 😈😈😈😈😈😈

Tom Ekstrand

You MUST watch "Ordinary People," a film starring Timothy Hutton (the older version of the dad in this) as a troubled teen, with parents played by Mary Tyler Moore and Donald Sutherland as his parents, directed by Robert Redford. This is an incredible movie that somehow gets overlooked by Movie Reactors. But the acting is absolutely AMAZING! Please promise you will watch this and react to it!!!!!!!

Noel Valdez

You guys need to watch the movie The Orphanage. Not going to say much other than this reminds me alot of that movie. Also Ive seen this show like 4 times now and every time I cry like crazy at the ending. I have tears rn. Lol

gfixler

I'm sure the episode will explain (just about to watch), but the screaming meemies is just an old term for severe anxiety. You would hear it in phrases like "She'll be okay. She's just having a case of the screaming meemies,"or "Child, you're gonna give me the screaming meemies." I knew the phrase, but not the meaning, way back in the mid-80s, because I had this Mad Ball (from a time when all boy toys that weren't army/GI*Joe or strong man/M.U.S.C.L.E./He-Man were gross out/Garbage Pail Kids/green slime-based): https://madballs.fandom.com/wiki/Screamin%27_Meemie?file=ScreaminMeemie1985-01.jpg

Josip Buretić

If I may recommend you one great movie with Mckenna(Young Theo) and Chris Evans. The movie is "Gifted" really great movie and would love to see your reaction.

Gary Brown

Simone and George, Haunting of Bly Manor is the follow-up to this and they're waiting for word on a season 3. Now that yall have seen this , yall should go over to Grimm Life Collective and they have a 10 minute Hill House filming location video. He's also done Midnight Mass And Fall of the House of Usher too. Here are some more house films; Stephen King's Rose Red and the original Amityville Horror. Simone, i like vampires and witches and would love to see him do a tv show or movie on witches . He was tapped for the new Exorcist film because they didn't like how the newest one turned out. Simone, I think it will be a sequel because it would be hard to remake the first one successfully. Some movies should just be left untouched .

Liuzetz

This show is an absolute masterpiece. The dialogues are incredible but the real magic is how they are delivered by the actors. For a haunting show, everything said by the characters, the whole range of emotions, the dilemma, all seems so real and tangible and sutil. It is really impressive to see all the actors deliver those amazing monologues to create this whole tragic impeacable story. The writing is so heartbreaking and yes, you start watching the show expecting a whole horror flick and it turns out you'll be sitting in a pile of your tears completely crashed by how tragic everything is. There is not a second season for Hill House but Flanagan did other miniseries like Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and The fall of house Usher and they are all amazing. Each one of them is considered horror as well but different genres of horror. I really think all of them deserve the watch and you will enjoy the storytelling in all of them a lot. Flanagan also works constantly with the same actors, so you will see the beloved cast from Hill House in all of his other works. It was a blast watching this show with you. I loved to see how you appreciate the story and the high level of acting and production that was put into this show. BTW, the woman ghost that appears to "welcome" Abigail when she dies, is Mr Dudley's mom. She used to work in the house as he mentioned in his monologue and she was the one that served the Hill House almost her whole life. The Dudleys mentioned they knew the Hill's but mostly Hazel, that was the old lady in the bed (the kind of nice ghost that talks with Liv).

Grumblefunk

I remember really liking this show when it came out, and after watching a second time with you.. it was tough to re-watch. It's still as good, but this story could have been told in 8 or even 6 episodes.. or a tight 7 like his Midnight Mass show. Maybe I'm just more a fan of extended conversations, and not extended monologues.

Thomas Handcock

I really hope you guys watch the other Mike Flanagan shows, they are all masterpeices. would love to see you guys watch midnight mass and the haunting of bly manor i know you'd really enjoy both!

Raquel.Veros

You both have adorable cats! Love their little cameos!

Jason Dreibeblis

There was originally supposed to be an extra episode about the history of the house, giving backstories for the various ghosts, but Mike Flanagan decided against it because in the end, the show wasn’t about the other ghosts, or even necessarily a show about the house. Despite the title: the haunting of hill house, the house and ghosts weren’t the focus, show was first and foremost about the Crain family.

Arthur Wirtz

Please watch "Midnight Mass" by the same director, its a master piece

Shawn B

HEY! When IS the YOUTUBE version??

m0lika1 .

There is a 1963 film called The Haunting which is adapted from the same novel as this series and it's actually pretty good. Its different from the series so i think it would make a good reaction!

Samuel Bruce

One of the best shows of this century. Mike Flanagan just knows how to slightly scare people, and jump scare. But what's really scary is how much he's gonna make you feel some strong emotions! Definitely recommend watching a bunch of his other works like the Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, Hush, and some others....

WalrusWallace

Glad you guys enjoyed this series! I had a great time following your reactions to it. Please consider watching Fall of the House of Usher. It's my favorite of the Mike Flanagan tv series

Damian Sanchez

Omg this should naturally lead directly to Midnight Mass, Haunting of Bly Manor, and Fall of the House of Usher. They are so good! Loved your reaction to this series

Lee Meehan

Man I love the haunting movie watches, please add "The Woman in Black" to your backlog such a great movie.

BubblyRainbows

I missed a bunch of things the first time I saw this series that hinted at the Red Room being a bunch of different rooms. I noticed a bunch of them on this watch through. Things like Luke asking, "Which room is Mom's reading room?" And in one of the much earlier episodes, Steve tells Luke in the treehouse something along the lines of "Mom is looking all over the house for you. For some reason she never thinks to check the treehouse." There were several more, but those immediately come to mind. Even after multiple viewings, I'm still noticing new things.

dennis bay

It's like the new scary roller coaster, the first time you ride it, the unknown twists and turns nught cause you to miss some things. but it is such an overall great ride, that no one is sorry they rode it.

Jacob M Rowden

season 2 is the haunting of bly manor, but in all honesty, everything mike flanigan does is another season of this for me.

Ashton Lewis

Older Poppy from the credits was the old ghost that young Poppy kept changing into behind Liv's back when they first met. The ghost that took Abigail away was just another ghost from the house

Ashton Lewis

Also, the red room is just one room that looks different to everyone else. The house tricks you into thinking it is a different room on the outside, but really they are all entering the room at the top of the iron staircase

Smapdi

I'm pretty sure the ghost who takes Abigail is her grandmother. Mr Dudley mentioned in a prior episode that his mother worked for the Hills, and I think he says she died on the property.

Ashton Lewis

I thought so too, but couldn't remember if she died on the property or not. I notice a few reactors have assumed it was Poppy though, but the ghost seems genuinely kind to me

Phil Robinson

2026 Exorcist movie. Lol. Jesus christ, don't know where you got that info from - but nope, not happening. Ever. There's no way Flanagan would stoop to something so stupid as that. Beautiful reaction though, I was in tears for most the final 20 mins of it

droodly

He talked about it comic-con. But did say... “The Exorcist is one of those movies that was incredibly formative for me,” Flanagan told Horowitz and the filled-to-capacity room. “I saw it too young and it fucked me up. They’ve made so many sequels, prequels, and none have come close. You can’t do The Exorcist. There’s no point in remaking it. There’s no point in trying to do that story again or better than the way it was done. So you have to do something new. And you have to do something that rhymes with it and that harmonizes with it, but that isn’t trying to replace it.” I trust him to handle it well. https://www.vulture.com/article/mike-flanagan-exorcist-remake-nycc.html

Ghosts and spirits are clearly not affected by gravity and in most cases appear not to have mass. They might be explained by another form of matter (why they can go through objects) and may exist primarily in another dimension to our 3 (or 4 if you want to include time) and intersect with ours at times during these haunting events. But why would they be bound to a location, or even Earth in the first place? Not only is Earth hurtling through space around the sun, the solar system itself orbits the center of the Milky Way, traveling at roughly 230 km/s. The Milky Way is also travelling through space within the Local Group roughly 110 km/s, and the Local Group is moving at incredible speed within the Laniakea Supercluster. Not only are all these celestial bodies soaring through space at astronomical speed, the fabric of space itself is expanding due to the effects of dark energy. Gravity though, is what holds everything together, it's what keeps us here on Earth, the Earth within the solar system, the solar system in it's place within the other larger bodies. If ghosts are not affected by gravity then they would have a very difficult time keeping up with Earth in space. Unless their specific dimension(s) is somehow tethered to earth. But then you could easily escape ghosts and spirits once we master space travel and begin exo-colonization.
