Before starting the reaction: come on George, it's right there for you, so I hope you used it - "I have come here to chew bubblegum and read trivia, and I'm all out of bubblegum." EDIT: Well done, George. I knew I was right to have faith.

Zack Gallardo

I had to look up super daddy shadoodled and was not disappointed.

Tales From The Underside .com

This was my favorite movie for years, then a few days ago I watched The Substance, and They Live is still my favorite movie, but do prepare yourself and see The Substance.

ShōNuff3K

Rowdy Roddy Piper, the lead, famous pro wrestler.

TomGas2025

The masterpiece in Oneliners...I came here to chew bubble game and kick ass. And I am all out of Bubble Gum. 🤣

TomGas2025

May he rest in Peace with the Pipes!

j c

Ah, Rowdy Roddie Piper. The "Scotsman" with the world's second most blatantly Canadian accent (first of course being when George says the word "Low")

Matt O'Keefe

Carpenter always does his own music.

Data Cable

They picked right up on why I consider this one of the inspirations for Free Guy: Sunglasses reveal the truth of the world around you. (Also, white protagonist tries to get black friend to wear them, though there it didn't result in a 10-minute alley brawl.)

Jeff K.

I'm surprised they didn't comment on that thick Canadian accent when he says "sorry" in the movie.

Tmatts

All of Duke Nukem's catch phrases are "stolen"

TomGas2025

Stolen is a bit harsh...lets call it a quote.

Redrum Ritual

Simone never looked better 🤣. She should of done her whole face. Not just half way. And have George behind her with the blonde mullet with sunglasses on 😆

TomGas2025

I wonder what you two would think of Ghosts of Mars. It is my little guilty pleasure for me. 😁

Michael

So let’s do a metaphor for revolutionary thought, the natural resistance to it, and the resultant (and partially manufactured) conflict between different factions of the same lower class. It’ll be a sublimely ridiculous WWF brawl that lasts ten minutes.

Happy Hanukkah

I'm glad to hear that. Praise the Lord!

Happy Hanukkah

0:7 "I'm not completely blind." Ba-dum-tss!

Goony71

I remember enjoying that movie when I sww it a while ago

Phillyman!!

Keith David is top badass🔥🔥Tons of tv and movies I love him in 💯💯👍👍

JBK405

I didn't get it until i saw it pointed out by somebody else online, but the very ending actually makes more sense than it appears on the surface: With the signal broken, we can now see the aliens LITERALLY fucking humanity.

Robert Cooper

I know it's not "The List" but this is a close second to "Prince of Darkness" as my favorite John Carpenter movie, and one of only three I saw in the theater. There are so many funny stories about the fight scene, too. Keith David was not believably pulling his punches as they were filming, and Piper (wrestler, obvs) was like "Just go ahead and hit me." Apparently Keith David, the ballet dancer, hits like a brick wall, and Piper had to stop filming a lot to get his head back in order. For a long time this was the longest fist fight in a movie. I think something has beat it now. I have... maybe ironically... all the Roddy Piper movies at home. If you are ever looking for something MST3K ish to do, "Hell Comes to Frogtown" should definitely be on a list.

Angzarr

I can second 'Hell Comes to Frogtown" as MST3K-ish material.

Wrencher86

Interesting timing for a reaction to this metaphor for class struggles. I'm going to need to know if either one of you were in NY during this week. 9:50 Tell that to Gavin Newsom (among many others).

Angzarr

I was in high school when this movie came out, and I had a huge crush on Meg Foster. Those eyes! She's also in one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies, "Blind Fury", with Rutger Hauer. It's a really fun low-budget 80s action movie. I think you two would enjoy that one a lot too.

Angzarr

Fun trivia: at 29:05 the device the soldier is holding is the PKE meter from Ghostbusters. I'm pretty sure it showed up more than once in the various TNG-era Star Trek series too, and a number of other productions.

Ashley Minor

As an American the scene of the cops destroying the homeless encampment only hits harder and harder. Been to numerous protests about it and gotten my head almost bashed in.

Dwight Scarn

One of the first 2 Fallout games on PC had an option for the player to choose a reply saying " I've come here to chew bubble and kick ass." Lol

Tom M

What even is this? This is like some local fox matinee sh1t in the 80s.

Redrum Ritual

Simone in the morning before having coffee

Mastervodo

I have been trying literally for years to get any reactor I watch to react to Prince of Darkness. I think it is as good or better than "The Thing", and MUCH much better than They Live. I understand They Live is a cult classic - mainly for the bubblegum line and the fact that Roddy is in it - but that's it. Bad acting. Tone of the movie all over the place. Too-long, boring fight scene. Prince of Darkness is a much, much better movie. Please, Simone and George, try that one soon. And be sure to put a heart rate monitor back on Simone. That is a great gimmick, and you need to do that one more often. Scary movies or movies with Mike Colter or Viggo Mortensen.

Mike FromOz

If you'd like another movie which follows in this kind of vein, I can thoroughly recommend "Under the Skin", starring Scarlett Johansen. I won't say anything about it, suffice to say it's one movie which has stayed with me for so many years now.

Kinokind

I love "Hell Comes to Frogtown"! It's one of those USA Up All Night era movies you'd watch at one AM on an otherwise bleak Saturday night in the 80's.

Kinokind

"Buck" flowers was in a number of movies in the 80's. Aside from turning on humanity in this film, he's the drunk on the park bench when Marty returns from the 50's in "Back to the Future". And can you imagine, those PKE meters must have just been sitting on a shelf in a prop warehouse to be used for whatever production needed something sciency, instead of the priceless artifacts they would be today.

LighthouseGuy

I don’t know if its just how the movie has aged but the idea of the subliminal messaging of adverts being “consume” and “conform” and “sex” and things really isn’t that disturbing, it seems like oh god how appalling because its a secret but even without the glasses its clearly what is happening. Im not trying to be some super nerd like uhm actually I knew it all along, but nobody is shocked that a McDonalds advert if trying to get you to eat McDonalds, or that a fashion advert is telling you that you could be more attractive or fit in and so on. I did really like the “you sell out every day, why not be on the winning side” line.

Tyler Foster

Doubt it has the juice to win a poll, but while there are many movies like this, one of the more underrated movies that is actually quite a bit like this that I would love to see you react to someday is Josie and the Pussycats (2001).

Magnificent Gojira

This is interesting reaction. You tend to think of reaction videos as of contributing to consumerist culture even by choice what react to (it has to be well known and popular otherwise who would watch it and would click like and subscribe)

algi

I like how Siskel and Ebert were aliens.

Wrencher86

It's a movie. By John Carpenter. It's pretty highly regarded for it's commentary on class struggles. It also did feature heavily on a lot of Fox affiliate local programming. Though I think the first time I saw it was on U.S.A.'s "Up All Night" programming block.

Pam Nail

The Substance is seriously the best movie of the year.

Jonathan Jones

KLAUS!!!... Your Name was a movie i reccomended and advocated for several time and despite note being voted one was a movie u guys seemed to enjoy. I firmly believe Klous is one of the best and most cozy feel good Christmas movies ever made.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

I've always liked the concept of this film, more than its actual production. It was too action-y (shoot em up) and not developed enough, plot-wise. Holly? He trusted her too quickly after she threw him out of the window. The idea that shooting up a TV studio would undo everything, no explanation for the glasses, etc. It could be made in to a really good movie some day. But I think this one was really just made for wrestling fans of piper. And that sort of crowd. Which is fine. We like what we like. But I prefer plots with more substance than action.
