Throwing another classic Robin farcical comedy out there if neither of you has seen it: The Birdcage.

Adam S

Absolutely cannot wait to watch this! ☺️ 🙌

Patrick

Ahh, a 40th birthday treat for me.

Maiki

Happy Birthday, hope you have a great day!

Bookwormy

Yes! Amazing movie.

Mike FromOz

Simone, hot flashes, at your age?!?! Once again, great thumbnail work 😂

Phillyman!!

Robin Williams vs Bond… James Bond 😂😂😂

jmundt33a

There was pressure from the studio for the end to be a reconciliation. Both Williams and Field demurred…with trimmings. I think they had both been through divorces of their own by then. Williams definitely had.

Jeff K.

My first actual “date” when I was a freshman in high school was to go see that movie. It also remains one of the two theater going experiences in my life that had the most consistent, uproarious laughter (Something About Mary is the other one).

evilmunky

ahh the film about a farther that becomes a stalker and tries to kill james bond. you need to listen to the wehatemovies review of this.

Stugotz

I think George mentioned before that he hasnt' seen Aladdin, I really hope they watch that movie at some point. Robin Williams pretty much had free rein to do whatever he wanted in that movie and it's amazing!

Michael

Julia Child’s recipes were usually fairly simple, much like Jacques Pepin.

Elena

Sally Field's freak out scene in this and in Steel Magnolias is what made me fall in love with her as an actor. Absolute treasure.

Michael Haug

San Francisco not exactly a warm place. Someone said the coldest winter I ever had was a summer in San Francisco.

Ginger

Please never stop with the "should we watch it? Oh, alright!" bit, that's ALWAYS funny! :D

Ginger

11:25 "It's okay" - that apartment is HUGE! :D

Jeff K.

And in San Francisco, too. The rent must be wild for that space.

Jeff K.

Yep. I’ve only been there once, and it was in July. It was in the 50s and low 60s the entire time I was there. It’s brisk all year round there.

Trevor Rotan

Not the dampen the experience, but the actor that played the son said Robin was struggling mightily with his bipolar during this time. He recalled going into to Robin’s trailer and seeing him sitting at the table slumped over with his head in his hands. Robin patiently explained his struggles to him, and said that he wasn’t always going to available. The kid understood and he said it was still a very special experience to work with Robin.

Christina Doxstader

I really love that they don't get back together at the end. The letter and answer at the end is just perfect, Life has bumps and it's important for kids to know that. I also like how the Stewart character isn't a complete jerk. Yeah, he's a bit snide when everyone is over at the club but over all he's a good guy who adores the kids and Miranda.

UnSafeStu

I'll be living off your comments about Stu for some time now. One letter short of Stud, yes exactly :D

UnSafeStu

Although I'm just now realising UnSafeStud is not such great user name.

Wrencher86

Absolutely! In fact, I was scrolling through here just to make sure someone had recommended it.

Wrencher86

The Birdcage, please. Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and Moe Szyslak, er, Hank Azaria all giving fabulous performances.

Jeff K.

Don't forget the equally fantastic performances from Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest!

JayF

I love Sally Fields the actress, especially from movies like Steel Magnolias. Her character in this one is just so vile to me though. There are a lot of little things she does but the main one is letting her ex be portrayed as a deviant in court to the point where he can only see his kids with an observer present. That's just gross.

Mark McConnell

It’s a famous quote by Mark Twain. “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Also, been to SF many times. No matter the time of year, when the sun goes down and the wind kicks up, it will get cold and god help you if the fog roles in. 🥶 Especially if you ever had the misfortune of going to Candlestick Park, the stadium the SF Giants used to play in. Holy God that place could be a refrigerator in the summer.

Michael Haug

Yeah, grew up in the East Bay but was a Giants fan. Many games at Candlestick. Seeing people wrapped in blankets for July games. They used to give out a pin Croix de Candlestick to any fan who braved a extra inning night game.

MarisoL

The Place Beyond the Pines

Derek McCasky

If you thought the youngest daughter was good in this, then you really need to watch Matilda

Jeff I.

Seconded. Such a good movie.

Stugotz

Yeah I laughed when George said that. SF is not a warm climate at all!

Itbewhatitbe

eeeh surely that depends on what youre accustomed to. these guys are Canadians, George lives in Montreal which can get down to -20 in winter for months at a time. google says coldest SF tends to get is 3c. which is probably a Canadian summer lmao.

Curtis Murphy

Are you joking? The woman is vile for letting the man who gaslit and manipulated her for months by dressing up as an old woman to gain access to her home? HE WAS A DEVIANT

JayF

Which was only necessary because she got full custody of the children and went along with it.

Tyler

57:03 Any time you see people watching old black & white TV shows/movies is because their copyright has expired and no longer require a licensing fee. a 30-second clip of a modern show can cost tens of thousands of dollars just to license.

Christina Doxstader

Curtis, he didn't gaslight her. and as Jay said, he only had to do that because he needed to see his kids and his ex wife made that impossible for him. He took extreme measures for sure but I understand why the character did it
