Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Sometimes it's just nice to have a franchise that you can sit back and enjoy and just rest your brain for a couple hours. They're fun, which is exactly how they're intended, and they only get better after part 3.

Vwlss Nvwls

I never thought I would like the first movie, so when I did I had to check out the second and third as well. And I really enjoyed this one, and mostly enjoyed the third, though the third is the weakest of the franchise. After that I started seeing them in the theaters. And as stupid as they got, they were just pure, mindless fun. I did not care what people thought about this franchise, I have fun watching it and that is all that matters to me.

Odd Thomas

Wake me when you get to Fast Five

Maiki

The actor playing the detective who gets tortured is Mark Boone Junior, he's in a lot of movies, always pretty small parts. You mentioned Memento. You've also seen him in Batman Begins (as another corrupt cop working for Falcone) and The Game (private investigator following Michael Douglas). Apparently he was in Seven and Armageddon as well, but I can't recall in which way. Funny that you recognized the Good Will Hunting line, as Verone is played by Cole Hauser, who was the fourth friend alongside Damon, Affleck and Affleck.

Josh B.

Yes do Tokyo Drift it introduces important characters and its just a really fun take with it being in Japan

Chints' Miniature Mistakes

Same! I just think they should watch all of them for this reason. Go into it knowing it's going to be dumb and silly and fun, and just have a good time.

Zoltán Bublos

The next one is Tokyo Drift, yes. Don't skip it! It's fun and I really like that it plays in Japan, it's refreshing after the first two movies.

Casey Dixon

Definitely watch Tokyo Drift next, it one of the best stories in my opinion.

Twoside

you must do "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift", it is (in my opinion) the best of the F&F movies and the most iconic with that Tokyo Drift theme song by the "Teriyaki Boyz" that anybody will recognize anywhere.

Vwlss Nvwls

One thing you two did too much during this movie, is the one thing they do not want you to do during any of the movies... thinking. Stop trying to figure out what real crimes are being broken, or what real anything is going on. Just watch, laugh, smile and have fun and enjoy the colorful characters, pretty cars and flashy over-the-top action. Because it only ramps up more and more with every entry.

Vwlss Nvwls

Tokyo Drift is the third one, and has none of the previous actors. It is the odd man out, and possibly the worst of the series, though still a fairly fun watch. But it is still necessary for later additions.

Stephanie

"He looks like a discount David Hasselhoff." You don't disrespect Cole Hauser aka Rip Wheeler aka the most badass tv show character/cowboy like that.😉😆

simon brouillard

Yes, the 5th one is one of the greatest dumb/insane movies. I would do them in release orders. Not sure you would enjoy eating in a scene in a movie directed by Fincher, oof the 76th take might be rough🤣. Boyz’n the hood by Singleton who directed 2 fast is a really good movie

Dioskur

if you watch them, watch them all. Youre prepared for boundless stupidity anyway, right? If you dislike it, enjoy your time making fun of its BS (Pro tip: its full of BS)

pinkdino99

I unabashedly love this one. The villain is terrible, but Devon Aoki is adorable as is her pink car. Each film introduces important characters to work towards the high water mark of 5&6 which has everyone in them. 3&4 are hard work, but each again introduces key characters for 5 & 6.

John

This was fun, the main villain played by Cole Hauser stars in a movie with Vin Diesel and Keith David, I would recommend Pitch Black

Jihad Lee

The next one Tokyo Drift, is probably the most iconic one of the series purely based on the fact that it is set in Japan and the song they use in it at the first race scene. I also feel like it’s the most grounded in terms of crime to all the movies and maybe that’s also a reason it’s very popular, it’s the most relatable or possible scenario to be in as a regular person. After that imo it goes downhill. Fast Five is the last one I truly enjoyed. But I always tell people to watch all of them if you can. But start to suspend your belief on the 5th one. Don’t think, don’t question, just enjoy the craziness of it all

BangDroid

Tokyo Drift is my favorite FF movie, you can't skip it!! It's so good please!

pinkdino99

The hero cars are the yellow 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII and the purple convertible 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS. Both are considered very decent choices for this time period with the Evo being a very serious hobbyist car. Walker's blue 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is also a very well regarded car. Again everything to do with the cars is taken very seriously in these films.

joserodriguez6195

The series ends at number 6 for me so please enjoy those also. Not that you cannot continue they all all a bit fun

FischerMax98

The third one is my personal least favorite. Lead character is meh, but a super cool character is introduced. So worth a watch imo.

pinkdino99

Mark Boone Junior whom plays the poor detective under the rat is Flass in Batman Begins, the FBI guy from Se7en. But his best role is Munson from Sons of Anarchy.

Chints' Miniature Mistakes

Tokyo Drift is indeed the next one, and some comments have already made it apparent that it's maybe the most divisive movie of the lot. Personally I love it even though the main character is kinda whatever. The side characters are really fun and it's got a nice little twist on the street racing thing. But I can absolutely see why people dislike it. It's... an acquired taste :')

sarCC

Don't worry, this is the worst one(though, the latest one was pretty embarrassing).

Jeff I.

Not to be rude, but I've seen these kind of comments on other reactors to the F&F series, and they always make me chuckle. Like people are basically saying, "Guy, we all know these are dumb popcorn movies, so turn your brain/logic off while watching and you'll enjoy them more!"...like that's supposed to be praise for the movies or encouragement to watch the rest of the series? Ha

Ginger

1:05:50 "He looks familiar. Where have I seen this actor?" - In pretty much everything. ^^ He was in "The Dark Knight", "The Mandalorian" and "Sons of Anarchy" to name a few. Somehow he's so recognizable that even when we only saw the back of his head, I thought: "Oh hey, it's that guy" :D "Bad thing happened in the first movie but nobody got tortured" I mean, one guy was basically waterboarded with oil. But yeah, this is so much darker. The rat thing is definitely my least favorite scene in the film, it feels so out of place. I think they also did this in Game of Thrones.

djKENTO

Fun Vin Diesel Fact: He is a HUGE nerd and loves to play D&D and his film The Last Witch Hunter with Elijah Wood is based on a campaign he played.

djKENTO

most on the nose music cue I can think of is Red Right Hand by Nick Cave in Hellboy.

mky

----- What you checking her out for? I'm not checking her out. Yes, you were. No, I wasn't. I seen you checkin' her out, man. Okay, I was. Now shut up. You shut up. Don't tell me to shut up. ----- They lifted that dialogue straight out of Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby". 🤪

Ginger

Next up: Tokyo Drift, which will introduce you to the most awesomely named character of the whole series. Looking forward to it. Just think of it as a DLC to the first two movies.

djKENTO

to answer the question about the cars, they are all super legit through the entire series. Mitsubishi was making killer tuners in the early 2000s and winning races.

RichieRich

I am so happy you are continuing this franchise. The low point is part 2 and 3, but it introduces my fav character Roman. Can't wait for more.

Foodassassin4life

Don't skip on the third movie please. It's just a fun dumb movie and I think you'll like it

Joe

You must not skip Tokyo Drift. It's needed to fully appreciate the fun and the dumb that these movies are.

Joe

This is easily the worst of the Fast movies. The rest are more fun levels of silliness.

Ken

Yes, do watch Tokyo Drift as you will meet other characters that are in future Fast and Furious movies. Plus it is a great movie on it's own.

Luna Seydoux

Need to watch Tokyo Drift. Not the best but my personal favorite.

Michele

Cole Hauser is in Good Will Hunting.

Chase Schleich

Yes, the movies really hit their stride and become what they're known for starting in the 4th and 5th films, but all the early films are still good. You have to watch Tokyo Drift in order to understand the later films. It's a very different film from the first 2, but it has some major tie ins for the future films. Tokyo Drift is kind of like a linchpin of the series. It holds it all together and also leads to the bigger spectacle these films become. That's about all I can say without actually spoiling anything lol.

Chase Schleich

Paul Walker getting into street racing turned out to be a bad thing. His love of fast cars and dangerous driving led to his death.

Chase Schleich

Yeah, it's not the best of the series, but it's important.... or at least becomes important so it's kind of required viewing if you're trying to get into this series.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Oh wow, did not know John Singleton directed this, kind of makes sense though, in my opinion Boyz N The Hood was a great movie but even that had weird pacing sometimes, that was always an issue I had with his directing. I skipped this one back when it came out, I think I kind ofl liked the third one, Tokyo Drift (I like the lead actor, he was the kid in "Sling Blade" which I highly recommend btw) but that's the last one I watched, I've just never been a fan of this franchise, in part because I still blame it for killing the real street racing scene in California. Oh well, anyway. The car Brian is driving in the beginning is not from the UK, it's a Nissan Skyline from Japan, hence the steering wheel on the right. Those cars were always seriously coveted among import racers.

REDR58

Great reaction. Dont’t skip any of the movies. Just power through and enjoy their increasing absurdity. Do watch Tokyo Drift! “Bullitt” (the nickname that Brian’s friend call him) is a reference to the 1968 movie “Bullitt” starring Steve McQueen playing the title character. It’s an excellent detective movie. McQueen was a very popular actor in his day. He was also a race car driver and did many of his own stunts in his movies. You saw Eva Mendes in “Training Day” playing the wife of Denzel Washington’s corrupt cop. Mark Boone Junior who plays Detective Whitworrh (with the rat problem) was in Batman Beings, the corrupt cop that is partners with Gary Oldman’s Jim Gordon. He was also in Die Hard 2. You probably remember him most recently as being in Memento.

REDR58

“Boyz n the Hood” is definitely Singleton’s best movie and S&G would enjoy it a lot I think. But they should also check out his film “Shaft” (2000) with Samuel L. Jackson and Jeffrey Wright. But first they should watch the original “Shaft” movie from 1971.

Farbod

Tokyo Drift is the best one.

Amelie W

I don't even have a driver's license but I know if you have flames shooting out of your exhaust, you're wasting car juice. Fuel is supposed to combust "in the engine" to make the car go; if it goes through the engine before burning it does nothing at best but more likely slows you down. These guys are all too eager to pump gas into their engine to get very good performance out of it. (Metaphors about trigger happy guys in the bedroom apply.)

BangDroid

Of course, IRL there are flame kits you can buy and install to do this and it's just for the spectacle. In the movie they probably used them too, although for cinematic purposes to make the cars seem almost mythically high performance.

REDR58

My 2013 MINI Cooper has a Sport Mode that aside from tightening the steering a bit and changing the throttle mapping, also turns on “pop and crackle” mode in which a small amount of unburned fuel is injected into the exhaust resulting in a fun little popping and crackling sound. And that’s set up like that from the factory. It’s a riot.

Logan Kerlee

lol, love you both! xD hahaha, :) Good times! This is some people's favorite movie in the series. It isn't mine but some people love it. hahahaha, way to go George! Such an asshole. xD Simone you're great, love you. :P roflmao - Simone you're awesome! I'm not sure what's the best but Watch Your Back was pretty awesome in the first. :) That wasn't a good joke George. xD lmao, no idea what 160mph to kph is! I'll check after this wraps up and post it though. Turns out that 160mph is 257.495 kph. :) lmao, wow Simone! You're THIRSTY in this reaction. hahahaha lmao, they're speedy. Cars are more about what's under the hood and not what the build is. :) Right there with you George. lmao, yeah - red car dude is a goner, 100% Good job on remembering the name George! hahahha, if you say so Simone! xD I've definitely played some characters with that trait! xD It's so much fun playing characters like that. :) This bit with the rat is brutal for sure! Jesus is right, George. She's very yum! Yeah - no, there's no GTA movie. I think that it'd be pretty darn awesome though! 1000% I'd go to see it in theaters! George is right with Hasselhoff. This movie's more refined but far from perfect. It was a fun one but I TOTALLY prefer the first over this. Not only because Vin Diesel's in it but that's a giant part of why this movie isn't as strong as the first. This movie does include more action but yeah, less cool car stunts/races and all that. lmao, the end bit is just extra nonsense. Very happy that you're both enjoying this series! It's highly entertaining. :) lol! The first was just that good! lmao! xD Hoeasis! It's awesome that Paul Walker did that! Loved that actor. Tokyo Drift is next, yeah! We do not skip Tokyo Drift.

Logan Kerlee

This is not my fave for sure but I know that some consider this their favorite. No idea why.. but hey, everybody has their thing.

Logan Nelson

Tokyo Drift is the redheaded step-child of these films... But even step kids deserve to eat, so watch it!!! It's actually a fun ride, despite what people say. Just grab your "I believe" button, slap it a few times and hit the NOS...

Logan Kerlee

hahahaha, you're great, man! xD Reading your comment made me chuckle a good bit. :) Good vibes.

Neumann

ah man, i really hope you guys continue this as some point. 3 and 3 are not my favs though they do have their charms, and 4 is the sprngboard that 5 is able to launch from. at least watch through 7
