very cool to see george's dad again, aliens would be good because of the military references, and indiana jones temple of doom, because that china parts are quite inaccurate, i think i remember george saying, the language is kind of made up right? i did not even know that until george mentioned it.

I genuinely appreciate your dads perspective on 'War' movies as a veteran, and his shared stories. But I can't argue it is nice to see him enjoy Sci fi movies like Terminator and Star Wars, and compare them with his own generational/cultural stories. Also despite the name its devoid of enough realistic violence that I don't feel like I'm dancing on a fine line with someone's PTSD for my viewing.

Interesting I've never considered that. I have always felt the meaning was Return of the Jedi (order) but never considered that it might refer to a singular individual.

Indiana Jones! I think it would be interesting to see the 2 of you get to the Last Crusade and watch as father and son given the father/son dynamic in the movie. But if you do continue watching Star Wars - do Rogue One!

Love your dad's reactions and the references and cultural touchstones he brings to them. When he said these movies remind him of his childhood, it made me think of the Indiana Jones series and how they were designed to feel like those early Hollywood action serials, like The Shadow and Doc Savage, where each beat of the story ended in a cliffhanger. I'd like to see if IJ reminds him of anything from his childhood that's similar. Hope he's interested in checking at least the first one out.

What fun these are. Your dad is such a joy, George. I agree with an earlier commentor that suggested a Back to the Future reaction with you and your dad. I think he'd really, really love those. Also, how do you think he would feel about Jurassic Park? I think he's enjoy the first one quite a lot.
