Lucas wanted his friend Steven Spielberg to direct. It's not been confirmed, but apparently he couldn't do it because Spielberg was a member of the Directors Guild of America and Lucas wasn't anymore due to the shifting of the credits to the end (that wasn't common at all back then) in the first two movies. He then asked a guy called David Lynch, but he declined. And instead made Dune. The original idea was Endor to be the home planet of the Wookies, but (not officially confirmed) Lucas wanted to sell more merch, so he created the Ewoks. One of the most controversial decisions regarding this one, but I've always liked the Ewoks. "It's a trap" is so iconic today, but originally the script said "It's a trick". It was changed in post-production. The last three Fridays have been a blast and I'd love to see more Star Wars with you guys. While I'd totally understand if you, George, didn't want to watch that mess again, it would be really interesting to hear your Dad's perspective on the Prequels. And of course it would be amazing to get to Indy or Back to the Future one day. "Evil can never overcome truth". Wise words, sir. Thank you both once again.

This was always the best one for me. Empire was just a middle part; here we get the final big battle with Luke against Vader. Some of John William's best work. I'd love to see you guys tackle the prequels/sequels and I think your dad would also enjoy Alien/Aliens - and maybe Interstellar?

"For people who skipped the intro..." Screw those lazy bums. Why do I have to hear everything twice?

Oh man this was a great run for your father, I’m glad his willing to watch the prequels. In Star Wars if you are force sensitive depending if a wiser Master trained you, you become powerful, but you need your whole body for the force to flow thru you. My point is that Darth Vader lost all four limbs and still was more powerful to be a Darth apprentice to the Emperor, Vader needed Luke to turn to the dark side to defeat the Emperor. Luke being a powerful light side apprentice told his father that there are other ways to defeat the Emperor and made Vader turning back to his good old self. Qui-gon Jinn saved Anakin in the last minute while dying teaching him how to be a force ghost. My vote is to watch the old Indiana movies.

As always your dad has such great insights about why these movies are so appealing. I can see where you get your excellent reaction talents from. He is absolutely spot on about the movies appealing to both kids and adults, and it's really special to see you watching these with your dad for the first time and seeing you bond over it. These are truly movies that bring families and friends together, and the themes of light vs dark, the bonds of family and friendship, the selfless heroes vs impossible odds, are timeless. I would love to see reactions to episodes 1, 2, and 3. I think the decision about reacting episodes , 7, 8, and 9 should be up to you and your dad as they are not as popular but even though I don't think much of them I would still watch along with you both to see what you think and maybe get a new perspective.

Great reaction as always, and it's been interesting getting your dad's perspective on these films. I'm wondering if you two might plan on watching the sequels at some point in the future? I'd be interested to see his reaction to all the context

Yes to the prequels. No to the sequels. And don't forget Rogue One. These were great. Thanks George. Pity your original reactions with Somone are no longer available.

Back to the Future and/or Indiana Jones would be great
