Severance!!! Also, I watched Mickey 17 this evening which is very much Severance by way of Parasite. Instant classic. Also, as much as I love the two new movies Mad Max 2 is what people mean when they say Mad Max. It is the purest distillation of the thing that all other wasteland related media is derived from. Solid week.

I watched Parasite in theaters a week before Covid shut down everything bc it was nominated... mainly to see what the fuss was about. After seeing it, I chain-smoked 4 cigs in the parking lot before I made a noise to another human.

That's a hell of a lineup for next week. I'm debating whether to start Severance on my own and then rewatch with y'all, or go into it WITH y'all. It feels like a show where I might want my full focus being on it, though. Speaking of Apple TV shows: George and Simone, you're gonna have more Ted Lasso to react to. Sudeikis and Apple have both now confirmed season four is currently beginning production.

In my opinion, you definitely want to focus your attention when watching Severance. And then watching with Simone and George should be a hoot!

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

Going to have to drop a streaming service or two and bite the bullet on Apple TV. Should be worth it for Ted Lasso and Severance. Great week of movies to watch next week though! I'm in for all 3! Stoked for The Road Warrior! Haven't seen it in years.

I'm going to love this week. If you enjoy Bong Joon-Ho's style, can you please add those films to future "foreign movie" polls? - The Host (2006). Not to be confused with lots of other movies with the same name. - Memories of Murder (2003). And one other korean recommendation: - The Chaser (2008) by Na Hong-Jin. Without spoiling anything, I consider it a sort of OldBoy on steroids.

Apple TV honestly has honestly been crushing it. Lots of people who liked For All Mankind, Ted, Severance obviously, Slow Horses and Silo has been making waves and they have more in the pipeline... might definitely be worth it.

Defo prewatch imho. You'll enjoy it regardless, but I personally would get my wired a tad crossed having two other people react on top of what's happening. I do like reading up on online (i.e. reddit) discussions for each episode after the fact though, you could do the same for the reaction I suppose.

Parasite? RESPECT! Plus The Road Warrior in the same week. Very exciting. As I said in a reply below, please also consider Bong Joon Ho's masterpiece Memories of Murder in the future, especially if Parasite does well, and Oldboy director Park Chan-Wook's Decision to Leave and maybe The Handmaiden (although the latter might be a little hard to get on YouTube, given its racy content). Other great Hackman movies include The French Connection, The Conversation, Crimson Tide, and The Royal Tenenbaums. Make sure, if you get The French Connection, not to get the version that was accidentally distributed to some digital services, which was censored by 10 seconds, and also ensure that the French parts have English subtitles, as Popcorn in Bed just had an issue with the burned-in subtitles being removed and replaced with service-generated subtitles that weren't activated automatically. Mad Max is better but I also hope the F&F journey creeps forward soon as eventually you'll be getting to the best ones, 5-8 (yes, 8 -- I love 8. Just make sure you watch the THEATRICAL cut of 8 and not the longer Director's Cut, which I felt was totally unnecessary.)

So I've now watched the first two episodes in advance of tomorrow and yeah... I'm glad I did, because this is a show that's 100000% gonna benefit from a rewatch. I like to think of myself as an intelligent man, but I can also safely say that this show is a hell of a brain buster so far hahaha...
