10/10 thumbnail. I was hoping it would be this 🤣

dudewheresmycar

At 28:10 in your edit.... Did you know the actor playing the Gyro Captain, Bruce Spence, actually played the Mouth of Sauron in the Lord of the Rings? Or was that a complete coincidence??

Dwight Scarn

Ah yes Fallout but without the Vaults, Jet, and Super Mutants lol

Gary Poussard

This is very much thought of as the best of the original MM films, I still enjoy Thunderdome as there is even more world building and new characters.

Philipp Roensch

Guess I'm watching this cut, can't get a VOD here, thanks shitty streaming services :D.

Dirge Girl

A Boy and His Dog (1975) is considered a significant influence on the Fallout series... Post-Apocalyptic setting, survival themes, the inspiration for Dogmeat, underground communities, glowing mutants, dark humour, etc... worth checkin' out. Cheers!

Opti_Frog

Omg, Simone's face in the thumbnail. 😃

Jeff K.

Yep - right down to the Easter Egg in the Fallout series, in the flashbacks with Cooper Howard, he’s got a movie poster for one of his films in his house called A Man and His Dog.

Adam Vialpando

As good as the original movie is, THIS is the film people think of when they hear Mad Max.

Mike FromOz

Yeah, I was about to post the same. He has a very recognisable... mouth? A big smile that Peter Jackson just had to have for the Mouth of Sauron. And it worked!

Mike FromOz

She looks like Amy from the band 'Amyl and the Sniffers'. This is a good thing, as Amy rules.

Doug Shore

i'd heard that the first movie wasn't meant to be post-apocalyptic. But when they got ahold of the sets they decided to make it as such. But the progression, the devolution of the world, from Mad Max to Fury Road was flawless

Helly R

He directed the sequel, not the original (though he co-wrote it).

Guy-on-Couch

He was also the guy who tells Kenobi that General Grievous is there on Utapau in Episode 3 :)

JoeNotCharles

I saw some behind the scenes about how many animals (real and animatronic) were used in those movies, and how much work it took to choreograph then, and now I can see it: it takes a lot of the same precision as Fury Road, just with sheep instead of cars.

Jordan Aiken

You two should check out the Mad Max Video Game. It's a cool open world game. It is melee and vehicle-based combat where shooting is just a utility, with ammo being very scarce and you only have a shotgun. I'm playing it now and it captures the atmospere of the Mad Max world.

Kurt Hockenbury

If George would like to see more of the Warrior Woman (Virginia Hey) you should watch Farscape, where she is the bald, blue skinned, and occasionally naked alien Zhaan.

Ampersander7

I saw this in a theater, and then we snuck back in to watch Conan the Barbarian. That was an epic movie day.

Tom Hess

I thought about it. Farscape would be right up George's alley too. He loves sci-fi films/shows that go all the way and don't hold back. ... but it's still a long haul. 4 seasons of 22 episodes.

rictus grin

oh yeah its well worth a watch, the seventies had quite a few Post-Apocalyptic/world in collapse movies, Zero population growth, Silent Running, The Ultimate Warrior, The Omega Man, Soylent Green, Quintet, No Blade of Grass and Logan Run

Darin Foat

I saw this on a double feature with The World According to Garp, so the two films have always had an odd connection in my mind.
