That is such good and funny movie...the Fox is my Spirit Animal...😁

Mastervodo

Who knew Luke Skywalker and Nakia were in this movie?

Matthew Richson

Now I just need them to watch Transformers One eventually. 😭 Came out the same year as this but sadly didn’t get the success it should’ve…

I recommend Flow. It just won the Oscar for best animation, over the Wild Robot. It was made by a Latvian independent filmmaker using free software anyone can download.

Not sure if it would make for a great reaction watch, but definitely recommend a similar animated film, Flow. It beat The Wild Robot and Inside Out 2 for the Best Animated Feature Oscar. It’s a Latvian independent film with no dialogue, focuses on a cat and some animals surviving a natural disaster. I loved it, and it touches on similar themes Wild Robot does but in a much bold artistic manner. It’s an incredible accomplishment this small indie film from Latvia (the first ever Oscar win for the country) managed to win over the biggest studios in competition. I know Simone would love it.

Recommend checking out Flow! Think you guys will really appreciate it.

HeyHeyJK

Yeah, they would absolutely love Flow but the problem is, I’m guessing, is that there is zero dialogue and I’m not sure how it would work with them having to cut the score, although there are a lot of stretches with no music at all, as well.

VisualHigh

The fact about room A113 was missing some context. It has been featured as an easter egg in most Pixar films, this was the first time a Dreamworks film included it however.

I had high expectations for this movie and was *not* disappointed. Lots of other people mentioned/recommended Flow, which I've also just recently seen. I'll just say that it deserves its Oscar but I don't think it's as accessible or as easy to emotionally connect to as Wild Robot. As you all mentioned, Wild Robot had you emotionally invested almost immediately and Flow doesn't quite make that same connection. On the flip side, I prefer Flow's animation, artistic style, and overall I think it has deeper meaning.

Adam K

Agree completely. I feel like every time anyone mentions this movie, someone talks about Flow. Totally different movies, totally different messages, approaches, etc. I thought Wild Robot was absolutely brilliant.

XeonAlpha

Since it’s not connected to any major studio I don’t think they’d have to deal with the copyright trolls like with other films. Plus they could just cut it to focus on the plentiful moments where there’s really no music.

XeonAlpha

A cat a dog, a lemur, a capybara, and a secretary bird walk into a boat… 🤣

"I wonder what this movie is going to be like?" [checks the thumbnail] "A-yup, got it." Edit: Holy crap! Matt Berry voices the Beaver! NICE!

Angela D. Mitchell

It's such a lovely movie -- it was directed by Chris Sanders, the director of How to Train Your Dragon, and you can really tell -- it's got such gorgeous and cinematic flying sequences! And the music by Kris Bowers was gorgeous. In terms of this year's animation nominees, I still think Flow was more daring and honestly hit me harder in a lot of ways, but that's like comparing apples to oranges, really. They are such wonderful yet completely different movies. I do hope you react to Flow sometime soon!

Daniasaurus

You guys should watch the Paddington movies. Equal parts funny and heartwarming I bet you'd love them. The second one is the best one imo.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

I agree. They would love the Paddington movies. They're so underrated.

in the post-movie discussion, Simone said something about the 3 laws being distorted/corrupted eventually for VIKI. I disagree. From a purely logical standpoint, humanity is the biggest threat to itself, so eventually the three laws in their pure form led VIKI to have AI try to take control in order to protect humanity from itself. Similar to the conclusion AI reached in The Matrix ("humanity is a virus, destroying its host"), and what Skynet realized in the Terminator universe, and while not specifically AI it is similar to Thanos' conclusion of needing to wipe out half of humanity to restore balance (though that is flawed, as wiping out half wouldn't end the threat, the culling would have to be repeated from time to time as humanity would keep regrowing to unsustainable numbers again and again)
