Dragonhunter

The 2019 one is a remake. The most recent one from the original creator is the 7th one from 2017 and there is also a tv show with 3 seasons that just got cancelled which was also made by the original creator and continues the story of the first 7 movies.

PeppermintWizardOfAus

Another 80s horror classic directed by Tom Holland (not that one) that you should absolutely add to the list is Fright Night (1985)!

Prof. Writhms

The "Child's Play" 2019 remake is pretty good, with Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. 😄

Odd Thomas

Now you need to watch M3GAN because a Chucky/M3GAN crossover is inevitable lbh. Another great killer doll movie is Dead Silence (2007)

Brandon

What I love about this movie is how they play it straight. Knowing nothing about this movie and getting to the scene where Chucky reveals himself to Karen is something I wish I could experience. But when I was growing up every kid knew who Chucky was even if they hadn't seen the movies. Child's Play 2 and 3 aren't bad, but they're typical horror sequels where Chucky hunts down a new group of people while trying to get a human body again. Bride of Chucky is really fun and took the series into a new direction. They decided to say "screw it" and made Chucky into the protagonist and lean into more comedic elements with a little bit of meta/fourth wall breaking.

Odd Thomas

I liked Serenity with MM & Anne Hathaway, but mostly because it's so outrageous. Most people will and indeed do, hate it.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

“Twilight” from the late 80s with Paul Newman is as different as it gets from the “Twilight” we all know. One follows gumshoe detectives, the other teenage vampy-vamps. About as different as I can think of haha. Also yeah these movies are really fun slashers. “Bride of Chucky” was the one that sticks in the memory because it shakes up the formula in a very enjoyable way

JediLounger

Twisters (2024) was way better than expected, mostly due to the extraordinary charisma of Glen Powell. Incredible effects though, you guys should watch it.

Mike FromOz

OMG, please watch "Posession" the Polish version with Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani. I will not give anything away, but it... it's... you have to see it to understand. Avoid Jack Frost (the Michael Keaton version) at all costs. Not even Cinecringe worthy. It's just awful.

beefjerkywizard

The Patriot (2000) with Mel Gibson is very different than the hot pile of Steven Seagal garbage, The Patriot (98). When I worked at Blockbuster when Gibson's Patriot came out and someone was purposely hiding copies of the Seagal one with Gibson one. A lot of confused renters 💀😅

Joel the Human

I actually had a My Buddy doll growing up and I somehow saw this movie at a very young age, like 6 or 7 years old. I was so traumatized by it I completely destroyed the My Buddy doll and threw it away, and spent the next several years jumping into my bed at night for fear that Chucky was going to grab my feet from under the bed, lol. Anyway, great reaction as always, you guys have easily become my favorite reaction channel btw

FWPJR.

I also had a My Buddy as a kid, but luckily I didn’t see this movie until a teenager.

FWPJR.

I can’t wait to watch this reaction, Child’s play is one of my favorite horror movie franchises. So I know I’ll enjoy watching you two react to it.

JediLounger

Batteries Not Included (1987) is an incredible movie. Simone would love it. Watch it, I promise you it’s worth it.

FWPJR.

Seagal movies a hilarious ( I didn’t realize that until I was older though ) especially the ones when he’s older. My dad loved his older movies from the 80’s and early 90’s, so I have some good memories of him watching them while I played with my ninja turtles or ghostbusters toys lol

Mastervodo

There's no greater detective than Prince Humperdinck. He can track a possessed doll on a rainy night, he can find you!

Brandon

I never noticed in the opening credits before that the cinematopgrapher/DP was Bill Butler. He shot Jaws, The Conversation, Cuckoo's Nest, several Rocky sequels and too many more to name here. He lived to be 101 before he passed a few years ago. George, if you're interested you can probably find a burned up Chucky figure online. I've seen a version that comes in a box just like the movie, but it's made to look damaged and burned from the toy store explosion.

lee - ber nool

Watch The Fall (2006) by Tarsem Singh. Great movie and one of the most visual stunning movies you’ll ever see (99% practical effects) with one of the best child actor performances in a movie imo. And kid isn’t even a professional.

Matt88g

To answer you question only the remake use much cgi for chucky, the main chucky series really likes the real puppet and has really had a consistent team and vision

Dale Smith

I hope you continue this movie series, they truly do just get better from here. There are 7 movies total (I think there's more on the way, maybe) followed by a three season TV series. (Still using the puppets mostly, so yay!) They get more bonkers as they go on, they basically become horror comedies, in a good way!

REDR58

Even though I heard you guys mention watching this movie I think during the Thunderdome reaction, I guess I forgot and early this morning (too early!) when I saw the post I somehow confused this movie with “Problem Child” from 1990 which is a terrible, awful movie. Yikes. Anyway, looking forward to Chucky later on!

REDR58

Simone, the new “Twisters” movie is a lot of fun. You guys should watch it on the channel.

BubblyRainbows

I hope you'll at least do "Child's Play 2" sooner or later. I actually liked it even better than the first one.

Mike FromOz

Simone has the best "Scaredy" face for movies. This time around it was peeking in a bit here and there, but I don't think anything can compare to "Hereditary" or "Sixth Sense" for terrified looks from Simone. It's why I love watching you both, you have such great faces and reactions to films. Other reactors seem to either fake it too much, or sit there like a bump on a log. You're both genuinely into what you're watching, and it makes this channel great!

Simone's Coconut Squire

SUPER ADORABLE!!! I remember seeing that one in the theater when it came out. It's a shame it didn't get the attention it deserved.

Jason Rivero

I was hoping they'd recognize Brad Dourif as the same actor who played Grima Wormtongue. Another of Dourif's great performances is in The Exorcist III. Hopefully you'll get to it at some point.

Jay

What makes Child's Play unique among the big horror franchises is that 2019 remake aside, one man has been the main driving force from the start. Don Mancini wrote every entry, has directed the last 3 movies and is showrunner/writer/director/producer for the recent tv show (which was so good btw, took this series to a whole other level). Carpenter wanted nothing to do with Halloween for years, Craven wasn't involved with most Nightmare sequels and Scream continued after he died, Hooper left after Texas Chainsaw 2, Wan took a big step back from Saw and the Friday films are all over the place in that regard. But Child's Play/Chucky is Don Mancini's baby, it's why I've no real interest in watching the remake. It was a cash grab by MGM that Mancini objected to (they still own the rights to the original film) .

Monica Alarcon

Just to add my opinion, in case you want to continue the franchise. The second one is I think as good as this one. The 3rd one is definetly skippable. Then the series get bonkers!! Then scary again... So I would say keep going just skip the third one...

Skyruff

Different Movies with the same name “Heaven can wait” 1943 and 1978 although the 1978 is a remake of “here comes Mr Jordon” 1941 which i like better but the 1978 is still good.

RichieRich

I would love for you to continue this journey. They are so lovably dumb and enjoyable.

The scent of film and TV is all over this RUM. Smells like freaking tee ah WANNA

I really love this franchise so I have a few thoughts/comments. 1) Regarding George hoping they stick with the animatronic puppetry, they stay pretty connected to those roots. They MIGHT touch up some shots with minor CGI here and there in newer stuff, not too sure, but it's always a team of puppetiers bringing Chucky to life, which I always loved. And the puppetry/animatronics get better too. 2) I absolutely LOVED the conclusion you came to regarding how his strength worked instead of being like "But would a doll really be strong enough to do that? I know it's a movie but come onnnn" LOL Obviously, no spoilers, but after decades of movies, they never really explain this, but in the current TV series they finally explain it with a one and done throw away line. But your heads are in the right place, you assume there is a reason, so that's all you really need to suspend your disbelief for the rest of the weird stuff. 3) I would think you'd like the sequel if you enjoyed this one I personally like them both equally. I also like part 3, tho my least favorite of the original trilogy. And I say original trilogy because after 3 it moves away from the "Childs Play" branding to "Chucky." But I at least recommend checking out the sequel to this. 4) They rebooted this franchise in the middle of this original franchise still making movies and a TV show, which was weird. So there was a brief window when there were 2 franchises going on at the same time. Long story short, a studio owned the rights to the original movie (Universal and Mancini own the rest of the franchise) so they had the rights to do a reboot of just "Childs Play." And chucky is all CGI... no personality... it sucks LOL 10/10 don't recommend.

Guy-on-Couch

you ask, "Why would any kids be watching this?" The 80's baby...haha I saw this movie when it came out, I was 8 years old....It has never been scary to me, in fact I thought it was hysterical...The doll swearing, telling people to Fuck off...It was the best haha...different time...

MD Simmons

None of the Chucky movies are bad. I personally think 3 might be the weakest from the original trilogy, but the franchise as a whole is pretty solid.

Andrew

Two very very different movies with the same title name ''The Girl Next Door (2004)'' a high school romantic comedy ''The Girl Next Door (2007)'' then this one is the most disturbing and uncomfortable movie that i have ever seen in my life, utterly shocking I think there is even another The Girl Next Door from 1999

E. D.

An other good one not with dolls but children is The Good Son (1993). Could be a nice sunday watch.

Dustin Duvall

I just messaged about Twisters! This is a sign to watch it!

Dustin Duvall

I weirdly just messaged them about this a couple weeks ago to do a disaster poll and have it on the list.

Mitchell Bowker

I've only just seen POSSESSION (1981) after hearing about it for many years and... WOW! They must watch it without any context. That would be quite the reaction!

Daniel Simmons

Yep, the horror Jack Frost also has a sequel: "Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman". There are also two "The Avengers". The Marvel one, and one from 1998 starring Sean Connery and Uma Thurman.

Doug's Night Terrors

That’s what I love about practical effects. It’s true what they say, practical looks fake but feels real, CGI looks real but feels fake.

MacGuffinStuff

Legend, there are two movies named Legend. One is a British gangster movie starring Tom Hardy playing the infamous Cray twins, I think it's okay. The other is a Ridley Scott fantasy movie starring Tom Cruise just before he became a huge star, which I totally recommend, love this movie, unfortunately there are two very different versions, I prefer the director's cut but I can't find it streaming anywhere. The funny thing is I prefer the longer director's edit but I prefer the musical score of the theatrical cut, Jerry Goldsmith did the longer cut and it's great, but the Tangerine Dream score of the theatrical is so ethereal, otherworldly, really gave the film a unique feel, I think.

MacGuffinStuff

Simone's intro cracked me up, reminded me of Catherine O'Hara in Beetlejuice, "like and subscribe, or I will go insane and I WILL TAKE YOU WITH ME!!!"

Justtired

The cop (Chris Sarandon) was Prince Humperdinck in Princess Bride.

REDR58

Legend (Ridley Scott) is worth it for Tim Curry as the Lord of Darkness.

REDR58

Here is a commercial for the My Buddy toy from 1986: https://youtu.be/LyOgenxUuaM? The creator of Child’s Play was influenced by the My Buddy toy and the Cabbage Patch Kid craze (and I do mean*craze*) during the 1980s: https://youtu.be/mzfuo94KCe8?si=S86f71qgY4J8MTTO And: https://youtu.be/tSk84zU1RuM Catherine Hicks also appears in a TOS Star Trek movie… The child actor was surprisingly good! Chimneys in condos in old buildings are often blocked off and converted to electric heaters or gas burning fireplaces. Filming locations including the Brewster Apartment Building: https://movie-locations.com/movies/c/Childs-Play.php

MacGuffinStuff

Oh yes, caught it in the trivia. So in the 80s there was My Buddy, creepy ass talking doll, and I don't actually get scared of much beyond answering the phone, but if I have a phobia, it's DOLLS. And I blame entirely two specific episodes of the Twilight Zone, the one with Talking Tina, and the one with the damn mannequins, if it was Kim Catrall I'd be into it but otherwise, to this day I don't trust mannequins. And Child's Play I feel is probably someone watching that corny My Buddy commercial and remembering the Talking Tina episode, and a franchise is born. Hey but it holds up, it's ridiculous but still kind of awesome. Also Brad Dourif, I was trying to think of chameleon actors the other day and the first to mind is always Gary Oldman of course, but Brad Dourif is one of those too I think. So now if you rewatch Ready Player One, that moment when they toss a Chucky with a butcher knife into the melee you'll lyao like I did, in his crazy stabby bitey glory.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

There’s also George Romero, who helmed the “Living Dead” series as director and writer. That is until we get “Twilight of the Dead”, personally still iffy about that but will probably check it out regardless. And while Don Coscarelli didn’t direct the last “Phantasm” movie, he was still the writer.

Grinznmore

Chris Sarandon, fantastic vampire in classic 1985 Film, Fright Night.

Jesse Coombs

You should totally watch "Batteries Not Included" it's a very charming movie.

Jeb Manning

So you definitely have got to do the sequels. For better or worse, the Chucky series is a wild ride and so much fun. It would make for such good reactions.

Jeb Manning

There are some other horror movies you should react to in the future: -The Wolf Man (1941) -Night of the Living Dead (1968) -The Return of the Living Dead (1985) for it's fortieth anniversary -Re-Animator (1985) for it's fortieth anniversary -From Beyond (1986) -Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) -Color Out of Space (2019)

Monkey D. Gaddafi

just rewatched tiger & dragon here, please consider seven samurai

AJ Lynch

watch No Escape from 1994 with late Ray Liotta and No Escape from 2015 with Pierce Brosnan both completely different movies and both really good!

michael denny

my biggest irrational fear is dolls......yay! i win suck it irrational fear.

CT

Absolutely! He's also great in Dog Day Afternoon, which is a great classic.

djKENTO

The other Serenity you haven’t seen is absolutely fucking crazy. It is definitely a bad movie but it’s the only movie I’ve ever seen where 5 different people in theaters all sad “What the fuck” at the exact same time. would make for an incredible reaction.

Daniel Popp

In my opinion, Brad Dourif, who plays Chucky, is a criminally underappreciated actor. I've always found him to be a real treat when he's cast as a villain of the week in some popular shows. More so when he a main or at least a recurring character. I highly recommend you check out the episodes of Star Trek Voyager he guest stars in and the HBO series Deadwood. His daughter Fiona Dourif has also made quite a name for herself in acting, and even stars in the last 2 Chucky movies and the Chucky tv series.

Grandalf

I couldn't agree more. Dourif is a major talent, and Deadwood is a perfect example of it.

Matthew Blackwood

I’d recommend just jumping to Bride of Chucky. I feel like that’s when the franchise gets its new voice right.

Matthew Blackwood

THELMA!!! 2 movies that couldn’t be more different, both great. Thelma (2017) is a Norwegian horror film so good they entered it as their one best foreign film submission at the Oscars. Thelma (2024) is a cute story of a sweet grandmother out for justice.

Jonas Buckner

I had a My Buddy doll, and I loved it a lot until they started playing trailers for this movie on TV.

Jonas Buckner

Oh, and I got the My Buddy for my 4th birthday, and you released this video for my 42nd birthday.

Ian Tellam

Not exactly the same name but 'The Room' (2003) and Room (2015) are very different movies (not least because one is famously terrible and the other is fantastic) - but they're near enough to be confusing. You should react to Room some time btw - if you haven't seen it before.
