Boyan Konov

Rear Window, Network and Barry Lyndon are fantastic. I personally hope Network wins but its against some heavy hitters

Alexrandom

I'd vote for Hitchcock in almost any other polls but Barry Lyndon is such an incredible film it would be great if you watched it. No matter the result, I'll be there 🙂

Bonny T

🍑🪟 and 🐦🐦‍⬛🦜

Brendan Rafferty

History of the World was weak but will probably win this poll because it is the only comedy in this poll

Jeff K.

Rear Window, please! And eventually North by Northwest. I gotta watch George's reaction as he realizes there's a classic episode of The Simpsons that's an homage to Rear Window (if he's not already aware).

ShōNuff3K

I am still somewhat surprised that Simone has seen Network.

Smooticus

Some terrific choices. History of the World is a bit out of place

UnlicensedOkie

I think yall would enjoy History of the World Pt 1. It’s a Mel Brooks classic.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Rear Window is fantastic. It’ll make The Simpsons parody of it even funnier for y’all

daskeyzerlein

Let's enjoy the fun of the inquisition

Warmachine1228

History of the World has some of Mel Brooks most memorable jokes and that's saying something.

Z. Mulls

I voted for three choices, but pretty much everything on this list would be a banger of a reaction video. Really pulling for BARRY LYNDON, though. It is such a different kind of film and I would be really interested to see what sort of reaction came out of it

Michael Gryphon

I know it won't win but Sunset Blvd is so amazing!

Michael Bauer

All of these are wonderful. Rear Window, Sunset Blvd. and Chinatown are my favorites among these - though I'm a little sad Fritz Lang's "M" isn't in there - it was a truly pioneering masterpiece, with a career-defining performance by Peter Lorre.

Emily G

Some like it hot or It’s a mad mad mad mad world- for a future classics poll

Ned Warbone

Sunset Boulevard not getting the love. One of the greatest movies ever made.

Vengeance

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Vengeance

Partly why I voted for it.

John

This is a great list. I would add three movies for the future which all had Oscar winning performances: Lilies in the Field (best actor 1964), In the Heat of the Night (Best Actor 1968), and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (Best Actress 1968). All movies from the 1960s starring Sidney Poitier

Raymond DeGraw

Nice poll... some very good choices. I look forward to seeing hopefully your reaction to Rear Window. Also, hoping for these in the near future. 1. The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) 2. R.E.D. 3. Secondhand Lions 4. Get Shorty 5. Deep Blue Sea

TheTreeMeister

Barry Lyndon, for Christ’s sake. It’ll be months before it comes up in a poll again (if it comes up in a poll again)

Jacob King

Rear Window is a delight. Also, my favourite Simpson’s episode. I’m voting for Chinatown because it’s an important touchstone. So many of the films you’ve already done are referencing Chinatown or were influenced by it.

Mike FromOz

Barry Lyndon is like watching an oil painting come to life. It is truly one of the most remarkable movies ever made.

Actuarial Lurker

Good poll- China Town is one of the best films of the 1970s, History of the World is hilarious, Sunset Boulevard is classic film noir, Network is a film that wasn't afraid to be made despite the politics, The Birds and Rear Window are fantastic Hitchcock jump scare and thriller respectively

Labcurmudgeon79

I literally just watched Chinatown for the first time yesterday. I don't know how I feel about it honestly. It's thought provoking if nothing else. George might be disappointed as Chinatown is only mentioned a couple times and the movie is hardly in Chinatown at all.

Dan

Rear Window, Rear Window, so good they named it twice! Another movie suggestion: The Last Supper (1995) with Ron Perlman, Cameron Diaz and others. A pretty unique little suspense/black comedy movie.

The Gunslinger

Rear Window is incredible. Could you do Atlantis: The Lost Empire?

cincassette

Amazing! Amazing! Some of the greatest films ever made! I gotta go with Rear Window, but would be happy to see any of these win (except one). History of the World feels like a bit of an outlier here. While it's a classic comedy, it doesn’t quite belong in the same category as the others, which are widely studied, referenced, and revered for their craft, influence, and legacy. I'd say it's more of a cult classic - certainly worth watching, but I’d be disappointed if it won over all the others.

Random Nevermind

Two classical ones nice to watch: War and Peace (1965) Les diaboliques (1954)

Ciarra Jade

I have no idea , I only heard of Chinatown cause it was referenced in another tv show . But I’m excited to watch whichever wins

Jesse Coombs

Billy Wilder is one of my favorite writer/directors. Sunset Boulevard is a masterpiece. I see it's not going to win, but I hope that they one day watch it and his other movies.

Justtired

The top 3 are all fine with me but Sunset Boulevard deserves more love

Mike M

Rear Window The Birds Sunset Blvd Three of my favorite movies!

Michael Buhl

Every one of those is essential! That said, I think it's absolutely critical that George watch Network.

robodong

you may be overthinking this lol. i think by classic they meant old. and to S&G 1981 might as well be 1921. remember, theyve never seen these movies, theres no way for them to know what is a cult classic, what is a studied film and all that. theyre just going by age. other wise the poll would include modern classics if its by your definition.

robodong

it also feels like watching paint dry at times ngl.. lol

robodong

i think by classic they meant old. and to S&G 1981 might as well be 1921.

robodong

you were saying? also, you seem to exclusively complain in polls huh, and its always this specific one too. regardless of how wrong.

Jack

Some great choices but chinatown was an easy vote for me

Kyle Baker

Ooh if Hitchcock is on the menu now, I'd say Strangers on a Train should be on special soon. :)

Vince

Great poll ! looking forward for more Hitchcock. A bit sad that Barry Lydon get so few votes.

Daniel Smith

Has North by North-West been watched? I don’t recall a reaction video. Good strong list here. Any one is a good watch.

Dan Holmes

It’ll never win, but Barry Lyndon deserves more love ❤️

Rob Parry

The Sting and All the Presidents Men are 2 more 70’s movies to add to the next classics poll

Mike FromOz

I disagree. It has the slow, languid pacing that life at that time would also have had. Even war at those times had an end point, and regular life would have taken precedence once again. I am glad for it. So few movies want to take their time with things. We've become far too used to instant gratification. This is akin to a luxurious feast of the era.

Music

When you’ve only seen 1 movie on the poll, that’s the one you vote for. I need to up my movie watching game.

Adam Vialpando

That's one more than me. Looks like my movie choices are either post-90s or pre-40s. I don't have much experience in movies in-between.

cincassette

Totally fair! That makes a lot of sense! If that’s the case, I do think it might be helpful to loosely group the films, maybe just into 'classic comedies' and 'classics'. It’s completely understandable, but patrons do tend to jump at the mere mention of a comedy, which can make it harder for some really great films from other genres to get the recognition they deserve in a mixed poll. To your point, it’s true that pretty much everything S&G are likely to watch, at least up until the 80s or so, is a classic (at least in some sense of the word). They’re unlikely to come across something older that hasn’t stood the test of time. I just think it’s a bit of a disservice to lump all older films together under one umbrella, given the wide range of styles and tones throughout the 20th century. For what it's worth, today’s poll does, in fact, fit my more academic definition of a classic, beyond simply being old, with one clear anomaly. But your point stands... it’s probably not that deep. Simone and George do a great job with the polls every week, and I'm always happy to see some of my favourites acknowledged, whether they win or not! They'll come around sooner or later.

Young Blood Priest

Mahogany and Lady Sings the Blues are two more great 70s movies.

cincassette

Not yet. I think they've only watched Psycho so far. But I'll definitely vouch for North by North-West!

sarCC

Homer yelling "Where's my burrito! Where's my burrito!" except he's yelling "Rear Window! Rear Window!"

Bruce Liddle

Chinatown and Rear Window are two of the best films ever made. The rest are good, great in a couple of instances. History of the World Pt 1 as funny as it is, seems out of place.

sarCC

Except Chinatown is referencing Film Noirs from the 1940s, and those are a much more important touchstone. I'd say The Maltese Falcon and Double Indemnity take precedent.

Jay Davis

"I'm as vote as hell and I'm not gonna click it anymore!"

Michael Johnson

Network is the best reaction movie of the bunch. One day it'll get it's due (at least here)

Haye Zeus

Now this is a poll!

Rob

Chinatown and Rear window are probably the best choices. I've heard Barry Lyndon is really good as well

Alex Ch

Please consider Road to Perdition for the future. Skyfall is a good movie from director Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig, but Road to Perdition is their best film together - with Tom Hanks.

JoeE

Would also recommend some like it hot, stagecoaches, dog day afternoon, m

Zectorman

If you want to get weird but in mix of the Netowkr and the Fly, Videodrome (1983) is a great one for a mind trip.

Farbod

History of the World is the most fun watch. That has my vote.

Kevin M. Pitts

If it wasn’t new to only George, then Network would be by top choice. Since it isn’t, though, the top 3 right now are as I think it should be: between Rear Window (my favorite Hitchcock film), Chinatown (a masterpiece of film noir, and History of the World (I don’t think his type of humor is for everyone but I have always been a Mel Brooks fan and as such I find this film very enjoyable).

Skyruff Creative

Suggest: The Maltese Falcon (1941) or Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)

David Hazel

Barry Lyndon is not getting nearly enough votes. Not only should anything Directed By Kubrick be automatic, Barry Lyndon is an exceptional film on so many levels.

FoH Film Club

I’m only gonna say no to ChinaTown cause F Roman

Tom Hess

Rear Window is awesome.

G P

Barry Lyndon will never win since no one seems to be aware of its existence, but you should check it out anyways. Best period piece ever made, and a technical marvel. He had to invent new filming techniques and used NASA-designed lenses to achieve the look and feel he wanted. Absolute master-class in filmmaking, nothing comes close except probably 2001.

Huckleberry lobo

Dexter series for your consideration, I heard George mention in the We're the Millers reaction he hasn't watched it.

Artyom

Barry Lyndon is top tier, surprised not many votes

Duncan Carlton

Chinatown is a better movie then rear window and I love rear window.

JoeE

Would also recommend body heat and treasure of the sierra madre

Richard Thrust

Barry Lyndon won't win this, but it and The Duelists are pretty amazing in exploring filming using natural light. It's such a beautiful film -I think some scenes were deliberately staged to look like William Hogarth paintings- that I enjoy it despite disliking Ryan O'Neal as a person as well as an actor.

Chase Schleich

More "Classics"..... see you next week or technically the week after since whatever wins will air next week lol

JarHead0351

I agree with you and bet that they don't for why we won't support him

Matthew Wabals

Never is … great movie … depressing as shit

Jeff K.

And now THIS is podracing!

Jeff K.

Hard yes to both The Sting and All the President's Men. Incredible films. I think The Sting, in particular, is pretty much a perfect movie.

Jeff K.

North by Northwest is easily my favorite Hitchcock film. It's so, so, so good. And as a Buffy fan, hey, Simone would get to see Drusilla's dad back in the early days of his career in that film!

Logan Kerlee

I'm sure that I'll enjoy any of those but I'm voting on The Birds and History of the World Part 1. I LOVE watching History of the World and it's been so long since I've seen it so it'll be nice either way to check it out, win or lose. The Birds is just fantastic classic horror. :P Scared my mom so much way back when!

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Love whenever y’all make time for the classics. I’m always perplexed anytime I see comments that claim you’re running out of things to watch, there’s whole worlds yet to be explored! For a future (English Language) Classics Poll, I’d like to see: “Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid” I’ve really been enjoying your reactions to Westerns as of late and y’all still haven’t even seen any pre-1970. “On the Water Front” Again, no movies with young Marlon Brando! Him or young Greg Peck are my go to classic Hollywood hunks. “King Creole” I’ve been on an Elvis kick lately and while he made quite a number of stinkers, this is easily among his better ones that you can call a “real movie”.

John Zelinka

If you consider yourself a student of film you will watch Citizen Kane, Barry Lydon, (gulp) The Godfather (not a favorite of mine!), and Sunset Boulevard (one of my top ten of all time movies). Maybe 12 Angry Men as well....

Shonnicus

"Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown." "I am big. It's the pictures that got small." "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up." "It's Good to Be the King" "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" Some great movie quotes from these films and many more!

Johnnycharco

This was a most difficult poll, all are great in their own right, went with the most relatable for me, which is Network. That being said, Sunset Boulevard should be at the top.

Kinokind

Although not my first choice, "Barry Lyndon" is the most beautiful movie I ever saw in the theater. These are all great. of course. "Sunset Boulevard" is a work of dark genius. Of the Hitchcock pair I'd go with "Rear Window" first. But "Network" deserved all the Oscars it received. It's an impossible choice!

Darin Foat

They did 12 Angry Men a while back, and liked it a lot.

Kevin

Watch Hitch!

Kelly Pickard

Just want to pitch Hook once more. :) It's such a fun movie.

jay

Was really hoping to see Chinatown win, such a classic. Hopefully it'll get done in the near future if it comes 2nd at least. Would love to see you guys do some earlier work from 2 of my favorite directors: Bottle Rocket (Wilson brothers) and Rushmore (Jason Schwartzman & Bill Murray) from Wes Anderson, and Following and Insomnia from Christopher Nolan. I can't remember who stars in those as it's been a while since I've seen them, but I believe Al Pacino is in one of them. They're respectively Wes' first and second films, and for Nolan the only one between them is Memento which you guys already did I believe.

Gishgali

Insomnia stars Al Pacino and Robin Williams in a rare villain role. Great film.

AC10

O_O .... Umm... Ok I guess I'll just have to Google search the whole list. It's fine.

Markus H

Barry Lydon and Sunset Boulevard are the only ones they haven't already watched.

Brandon Meng

So many classics! I don't really have a recommendation here so straight to my movie recs: Perks of Being a Wallflower Manchester by the Sea Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Forgetting Sarah Marshall Sideways/Nebraska/The Holdovers ANYTHING BY DIRECTOR ALEXANDER PAYNE Cheers!

sagesaria

I'd recommend it as a December pick. It's not a Christmas movie, but between the inciting incident being during Christmastime and the fact that tv stations always seemed to be broadcasting it around that time of year as a kid, it's an honorary one to me lol

molly

i have some recommendations!! i’d love for you guys to watch rope (1948) - hitchcock. i watched it recently and really enjoyed it. also prisoners (2013) !! excited to see what wins this poll since i’ve been watching a lot of classics recently and enjoy them so much ☺️☺️ oh! also the birdcage (1996) with robin williams and nathan lane, one of my favourite movies ever

Matthew Brown

I love what i am seeing ☺️☺️ love these 2 movies

Logan Kerlee

I just got finished watching Barry Lydon a minute ago. Lonnng movie but it wasn't a terrible one. Worth watching once, at least.

K Murray

History of the World is incredibly out of place on this poll lmao

Dirge Girl

Night of the Living Dead (1990) [Horror/Mystery] Return of the Living Dead (1985) [Horror/Sci-fi] Re-Animator (1985) [Horror/Sci-fi] Braindead / Dead Alive (1992) [Horror/Action] The Dead Don't Die (2019) [Horror/Fantasy] The Crazies (2010) [Horror/Sci-fi] Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) [Horror/Family]

max

Always a bit of a random choice but you got to watch Hardcore Henry, such a unusual and underrated movie. Never see its get credit for being a one of the more unique movies I've watched just entertaining all throughout

Doug

I'd be really interested to see you guys reacting to A Scanner Darkly. It's very unique and like nothing you've watched on the channel before.

jmundt33a

Loathe as I am to endorse anything Sorbo these days, what about Kull The Conqueror (1997) and The Scorpion King (2002) as similar genre camp?

jmundt33a

Any interest in Charade or Vertigo?

jmundt33a

Dead Zone or Dolores Claiborne? Maybe Fallen for supernatural suspense?

jmundt33a

Sarah Marshall and Sideways make my list. What about The Girl Next Door or She’s Out of My League

jmundt33a

They could watch the ‘90s remake. Also excellent. Wish I could remember the name of the Russian version. It is shocking.

cincassette

I’d also like to recommend “Playtime” (1968) by Jacques Tati. It’s definitely not your typical plot- or dialogue-heavy movie, but it’s a classic for a reason. Even though it’s not driven by conventional storytelling, it’s still super engaging and has really compelling visuals and atmosphere. There’s so much going on in the background that it’s fun to just take it all in… and the lack of important dialogue makes it easier to focus on all the little details. I think it’d make for a really great reaction. It’s my all time favorite film, so i’d love to see it on the channel at some point.

Ben Stevens

Barry Lyndon may not be very well suited for a reaction video. That is one long movie with a lot of slow zooms. Visually stunning, but I imagine it would be a chore to edit, and wouldn't lend itself to a ton of commentary. I voted for Birds because Hitchcock, and I wanna see Simone scream.

Brandon Meng

Oh my god, both critical movies to my development in my "I don't know how to talk to girls" years. I loved these movies when they came out, but I'm not sure I'd appreciate them as much if I had just seen them for the first time. I had to be in that stage of my life, my awkward gangly weirdo older teen/young 20s guy who had no idea what to do with himself around girls. These movies + Van Wilder were massively inspirational to me in those years.

Shawn B

I have no idea what those movies are.

Simon Clifton

Oh come on, this isn't fair - they're all amazing choices!

jmundt33a

You bet they forgot how to Google?

jmundt33a

Some Like It Hot runs on Monroe. Jack Lemmon could be….well, a real Lemon occasionally. Not often. I also like the gender flip remake Connie and Carla.

Fraser S

Barry Lyndon being that low is a shock to me, Kubrick best and maybe the most beautiful cinematography ever

Daniasaurus

I think most people don't know about it cause it isn't his most flashy movie like his others. But I agree its one of my favs from him!

Daniasaurus

I feel like George will really like Network! Also, Chinatown is very similar to a movie y'all did before as far as plot goes. Very early on with the channel id be very curious to see if y'all pick it up or not!

Ginger

Oh, I missed the vote. But would have voted for Rear Window, Chinatown and History of the World Part 1, so... everyone here has good taste! :D <3 Although "Rear Window" isn't my favorite Hitchcock. That would be "Rope".

Ginger

I'd love for them to watch "The Killing". My favorite Kubrick next to "Dr. Strangelove" and sadly a very little known one. Watch it if you want to see where Tarantino got his ideas.

Elizabeth

Watch Major League (1989) and Major League 2 (1994)! These movies are great comedies from the late 80's and early 90's.

Joe D

In the heat of the night is another great classic.
