I'm so excited for season 4 of Stranger Things!

B Humps

I can't wait for y'all to start season 4 of Stranger Things. I've literally waited to watch season 5 with you two 😁. This will be a good way for me to catch up as well.

David Szoke

Simone wake up, I dont like this george wake up, hey hello

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

These episodes are where Sopranos really kicked into high gear for me when I first watched the series. Everything comes together in the writing, directing, tone, subtext etc and it just keeps getting better from here, can’t wait to continue on with you guys!

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Great string of episodes in this season ender. Also brain sees Stranger Things S4, Sopranos S3 after that… First thought is “wait, when are the pancakes coming in the mail?”

Jay Johnson

almost time to start Running Up That Hill

Marshall Mcluhan was a Canadian philosopher who died in 1980. Even at the time of this show this might be the most obscure reference The Sopranos makes.

Brandon

There was some feedback or something going on in episode 11. Either that, or one of you lives near water and a boat was blaring its horn. 😆 Marshal McLuhan was a Canadian philosopher that specialized in media theory. He's the one that coined the phrase "the medium is the message". He's also known for kinda sorta predicting the internet 25-30 years before it happened. Not that everyone necessarily agrees with that. He's not as well known as he was during his lifetime. The writers were being cheeky by having nobody in the scene get the nurse's reference, while knowing that a lot of the show's audience wouldn't get it either. I sure didn't when I first saw this show. House Arrest might have my favorite ending to an episode of The Sopranos. Tony and the gang hanging out in front of Satriale's. The FBI guys show up and everyone is talking and getting along really well. Then you have Puss, who doesn't belong with his friends anymore. He certainly doesn't belong with law enforcement either as he's lying to both sides. So he quietly goes back inside by himself as the camera pulls back with that great crane shot. On top of that you have Johnny Thunders 'You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory' playing into the credits as one of my favorite needle drops in the series.

Mike FromOz

Dangit, I was hoping Simone would play the intro song on recorder for one of the episodes. Oh well, next season!

FWPJR.

It’s finally my favorite day of the week, it’s Sopranos Tuesday. I can’t wait to watch this reaction ( especially to one certain scene ).

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Steven Van Zandt who plays Silvio actually isn’t an actor, he’s a musician who is best friend with Bruce Springsteen and a member of his E-Street band. He was chosen to be Silvio due to his real life charisma and the fact that he wasn’t a actor makes his performance all the more impressive

Russell Massey

I think Richie was expecting Janice to behave like a submissive Italian-American woman from the 80s. Janice had seen more of the world than the New Jersey ghetto he comes from, and was not prepared to take physical abuse. And she's a Soprano.

newhastings

Funhouse is where this show started going from good to all time classic. Still the same show and still pretty funny, but we’re going to some darker places in season 3

zona999

Just realized Melfi's therapist is director Peter Bogdonovich!

CW

Double Agent Matt Helm. ETA: McLuhan died a couple years before I was born. I knew who he was when the show aired. I wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few people in my cohort knew the name, because a book by Neil Postman that builds upon McLuhan’s work was a fairly popular assignment in high school/undergrad for a time.

2026-10-19 05:00 People get so stressed out about garbage disposals in movies and TV even though they are specifically designed not to chop your fingers off. lmao

@S&G the actress playing janice is john turturro's sister (you know him from Severance & O Brother Where Art Thou)

Maxi

Speaking of the theme song, I started watching with the no-sync and was in the same boat of not hearing the theme. I decided to look it up on YT. BIG MISTAKE...Ended up getting a big spoiler in my recommended vids a couple weeks down the line...

maikeru

@Divi sopranos season 3 comes after it

djKENTO

Marshall McLuhan is a famous CANADIAN philosopher on media and how it impacts society. He's was a really interesting dude. This joke would go over most people's heads. So don't feel bad.

djKENTO

Also really interesting that Melfi thinks Tony is watching Sliding Doors cuz Brad Pitt isn't in that and it doesn't even take place in America. If you want to hear Gwyneth Paltrow fumble her way through an English accent for 100 minutes... Sliding Doors is the movie for YOU! (it's actually a very interesting movie and would be great for a reaction because of it's unconventional format)

REDR58

Not quite. It is entirely possible to injure yourself if your garbage disposal is operated by a switch and not by inserting a special magnetically activated cap which turns on the garbage disposal. The kind the Junior was using could definitely hurt him.

REDR58

It was very funny! For those who don’t get it, the “I know nothing” joke by Pussy as he’s wearing the Wehrmacht helmet is a reference to the character from the sitcom “Hogan’s Heroes” (https://youtu.be/onZm-1GjYdw?si=fQhkcobRyhcYjcLb), in which the incompetent German Sergeant Schultz (portrayed by actor John Banner), was constantly saying he saw or knew “nothing!” the Allied prisoners he was guarding were secretly doing in a prison camp: https://youtu.be/OsXrpxo4uC0?si=cYpKgFTj-ceuMNzn

REDR58

House Arrest Before going to see Melfi, Tony is listing to Bob Dylan’s “Gotta Serve Somebody” at home: https://youtu.be/wC10VWDTzmU?si=0XBG7_GSNdyX3DGF “Judge Crater” that Junior mentions refers to the case where a New York State Supreme Court justice, Joseph Force Crater, mysteriously disappeared in 1930 aged 41 after a state corruption investigation started and he was never seen since nor a body found. He was declared dead in 1939: https://youtu.be/jtVfXLkc-ko?si=f8EkM-VJcm2wGTXC The song by Boston, “More Than a Feeling” plays as Tony starts to pass out: https://youtu.be/t4QK8RxCAwo?si=aEBTqnyAelh1bn8u When Junior is playing with the garbage disposal, he’s talking about the woman he was seeing that he later he threw the dessert in her face in the first season after she had talked about their sexual habits. Carmela and her book club are discussing the 1996 book “Angela’s Ashes” by Frank McCourt, which was very popular at the time. The “how many MiGs did you shoot down last week?” crack that Tony makes is to Junior is because the CPAP mask Junior is wearing looked like a fighter pilot's oxygen mask, probably referring to the Korean (or Vietnam) War because Junior is older. "MiG" is a generic term for former Soviet-built fighter planes of various types, MiG-15, -17, etc. "MiG" is the abbreviation for "Mikoyan-Gurevich" which was the historic name of the aircraft production company that built such aircraft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan Junior and Catherine are watching “Diagnosis: Murder” starring Dick Van Dyke and which was a show popular with older viewers. Kind of like “Matlock” with Andy Griffith that Grandpa Simpson talks about a lot on “The Simpsons.”

The Knight in White Satin Armor At the party at the Sopranos’ house for Ritchie and Janice, “l Saved the World Today” by The Eurythmics is playing (and then again over the end credits). Great song: https://youtu.be/Zf052uxFF58?si=hcUZqZFHhZhAKwVH George, a “hope chest” or “dowry chest” was a type of chest used by unmarried women to store items in anticipation for a hoped-for marriage. I guess some people still do this but probably not as commonly as was historically done. Carmella is watching “Champagne for Caesar” (1950) when Tony leaves to go to see Irina at the hospital. Here is the full movie for anyone who is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lE8BnftBl6g The title of the episode is a callback to Irina previously referring to a “Knight in White Satin Armor” to Tony in the 1st season, 5th episode “College" and then repeating in this episode, the story of when her one-legged cousin Svetlana (who Tony speaks with in the hospital) was helped by a boyfriend when her prosthetic leg fell off, her “knight in white satin armor.” Again, that is a reference to The Moody Blues’ song “Nights in White Satin” (“nights” as in “nighttime”, not “knights” as in the armored soldiers, a misunderstanding by Irina): https://youtu.be/p6xMOTjLIaY?si=GenRegRQv53oCgiG Silvio refers to the book “Passages: Predictable Crises of Adult Life” (1976) by Gail Sheehy. You guys really have to watch “Lilyhammer” (Netflix) since you enjoy Steven Van Zandt so much!

This week on Cinebinge, George gets cancelled.... In a twist, it's because someone unearths a 2007 video where he shouts at Simone "Go back to China!"

newhastings

The EgyptAir thing Tony refers to was a plane crash in 1999 that was never fully solved due to the Egyptian government not liking the proposed idea that the plane was purposely crashed into the ocean, so they refused to collaborate with American aviation regulatory bodies.

Brien

Simone and George, I have a feeling that your reactions to Season 4 of Stranger Things will be some of the greatest reactions ever for your channel! Looking forward to it! Gonna be epic!

Thomas Yanez

Y'all did that thing again where, for example, at the end of the second episode, the embedded audio/video cuts out near the end while you are still watching, and we watch you watching, and eventually y'all laugh and react to something. It's happened a few times now... are y'all aware it's happening? I've seen other people comment on it before.

Thomas Yanez

Yeah, I had a nice laugh, then got a little sad when I realized they were clueless. Made me feel really old.

Tippnasty

they literally sell cola syrup as an anti nausea medicine

TJ

Except Cola syrup is not carbonated so not the same thing

blerbaberpaterb

yeah the syrup. not the fizzy drink. carbonated drink of any kind can make nausea worse. especially if that nausea is from acid reflux, heart burns or indigestion.

Glenner7

Yes, an intermittent low frequency low volume feedback. I started noticing it around the time of the cigarette argument in the restaurant.

Thomas Yanez

Regarding giving Tony Coca-Cola to help settle his stomach - it's an old home remedy, but has no real science behind it to support it. For my family, it wasn't coke, it was coke syrup, and we kept a bottle in the fridge for just this sort of situation. Whether the science is there or not, I know that in my case, sometimes it worked (immediately settling my stomach), sometimes it didn't (throwing up immediately (which in its own way also settled my stomach)). Anecdotal evidence at best.

dieselbeast

Im worried for Simone early on in season three, wouldn't blame her if she looks away, and that's all I'll say

Stan the Man

This is 100% untrue. People absolutely do this. My grandfather would stock ginger ale and coke or some sort of cola beverage for this very reason. Wait. You think Coke was doing Product placement…on the Sopranos? You realize that’s not a thing right? Drinking Coke is an old wives tale. It’s one of those things that people thinks works. Saying “nobody” does it because you don’t do it? Kind of odd.

Glenner7

Funny one in Ep. 11 almost slipped by when Tony said his future brother in law has to piss through a cathode tube, A cathode tube is an old fashioned TV picture tube - Tony meant to say piss through a catheter.

Ari Ramirez

Janice Soprano Will Return In Avengers: Doomsday

Stan the Man

I don’t think so. “The medium is the message” is pretty well known. Anyone who has seen Annie Hall would get it. Sopranos has some reaaaalt obscure references. Judge Roy Bean in a fav. Bruno Magli

SANAMDEEP

YOURE FLEXIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!

TJ

Okay so the majority of people don't do it..better?. They deny it being product placement but having it damn near in every scene (at least in the earlier seasons.) Pizza and Coke is one thing but having it for every meal? Lol I'm not buying it

blerbaberpaterb

stan, im more curious why it bothers you so much what he thinks about coke syrup lmao. like why does it make you so agitated and bothered? lets just hypothetically say TJ is 100% wrong, in what way does that affect you at all? lmao

LSTER

Marshall McLuhan was "the medium is the message" guy. It's a bit of ham-fisted meta commentary about television

REDR58

My mom always gave my sister and I room-temperature ginger ale soda for stuff like that.

REDR58

I thought they were getting it and then it was clear they didn’t quite get it! Oh well.

I didn't catch it till this third time watching Sopranos. But in s2e12 in a preceding conversation Janice learns that Richie isn't going to become the big boss, earn the big bucks, buy the big house, and so I think she makes the same decision that Junior did. Richie "couldn't sell it", he hit her, she turns back to Tony.

Charles

I doubt it would ever win a poll but would love to rewatch Lilyhammer from Netflix. The actor that plays Silvio is so good in that

G P

Recommending Angela's Ashes

REDR58

Steven Van Zandt! He’s really funny in that series. I watched it back when it first was on Netflix without ever having seen The Sopranos.

REDR58

Simone had an old CRT TV in the background of some of Cinebinge’s early reactions. See if you can spot it.

J

Such a great show!

Donna Castellano

Have they said if they're doing 1 or 2 episodes of Stranger Things S4? I'm skipping that season but curious as to how long it'll be till they're back with S3 of The Sopranos.

REDR58

Funhouse I don't have much new to add other than about the songs in the episode (some great stuff in this finale!) but there was yet another reference to Godfather Part III in this episode, so you guys really need to watch that movie ASAP before you watch the next season of The Sopranos in case it comes up again. Soon after the episode starts, “Bollywood” by FitnessGlo plays as we see the guy try to sell the phone card: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEeGhFpDn6c When Tony is with the others in the restaurant, we hear The Rolling Stones’ “Thru and Thru”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NepcAaKXNuM This song plays again at the end of the episode. In the dream, the little car that Tony gets into with Ariana and Christopher is a 1968 Subaru 360. Tony sings the song from "Gilligan’s Island” when he’s delirious after the doctor shows up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fqXcKFg08w When Tony dreaming in the car on the way to see the boat, they’re listening to "Free Fallin’” by Tom Petty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lWJXDG2i0A Pussy plays Frank Sinatra & Tom Jobim “Baubles, Bangles and Beads” on the boat’s sound system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXggztdT2XE Afterwards, Tony is watching The Temptations singing “Ain't Too Proud to Beg": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmHUfrcIJyI After the therapy session, Tony sings, “Maybe Baby” by Buddy Holly and The Crickets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68QwFQSurdE

2026-09-10 08:00 I always felt the montage at the end was to remind us that they are really monsters. We cheer for them and root for them but they make their living feeding off the weak and vulnerable. A little mirror on the audience.

“Thank god the more evil one died” That’s debatable George. Heheh

JBK405

A few months ago I saw this perfect explanation for why Janice shot Richie so quickly and directly (So good I wished I though of it myself). When Richie hit her, her entire fantasy for the rest of her life died. The fantasy that THEY would be different than every other miserable married couple in the Mafia, and ALSO the fantasy that she would be the power-behind-the-throne pulling the strings of the new Boss (Or even a High Ranking Capo if he couldn't become the Boss). With that one action she saw that Richie inevitably would get a goomar (Like Carmela warned her), and he would continue to disrespect and dismiss her (Like Janice sees happen with Carmela every day), and when he was stressed or angry he wouldn't even pretend to let her be in control. And so Janice took revenge on the person who destroyed that fantasy. Which was Richie himself. ---------- We see it throughout the season, but when Junior tells Tony about Richie's plans he is again the person who most clearly and directly sees right through Janice. Even Tony, who from the very beginning knew that she was after something when she appeared at the beginning of the season, underestimates just how much she wants or what angle she's playing. Junior also reads Richie as well. They think they're playing him, but for this season he's ahead of both of them. Before he got outmaneuvered by Tony, I imagine Junior was always the person who could read everybody else's intentions. That's probably how he managed to survive so long in this game. After the buildup for Richie throughout the season, positioning him as a rival that might lead to all-out war, the fact that he's killed the episode BEFORE the season finale was a sudden swerve. Everybody thought it would be a replay of the season one finale where Tony's crew had to take out several of Junior's people, only for Janice to do it herself. Skip said that Pussy had the biggest case of Stockholm Syndrome he'd seen since Patty Hearst. She was a wealthy heiress that was abducted by the Symbionese Liberation Army, a criminal/revolutionary/terrorist group in the 1970s. After several months in captivity she joined and began participating in their activities. After they were caught by the police she claimed she'd been tortured and forced to participate, but others said she joined of her own free will. In Tony's dream, the boardwalk he visited was the Asbury Park boardwalk and Convention Hall. These are historical landmarks in New Jersey. Bruce Springsteen's debut album was "Greetings From Asbury Park", and it was the center of the NJ music scene in the '60s, '70s, and '80s. The odds are good that Tony would have spent his summers in Asbury Park when he was a teenager. So this is him going back to his own childhood in his dreams. Tony also once mentioned a visit by his family to "the shore" when Dr. Melfi asked him to name ONE happy memory with his mother from his childhood, and he talked about the time his father fell and everybody laughed at him. "The Shore" covers a very large area of NJ, but it's possible it was at this same spot, and it came back to Tony's mind after Livia laughed at HIM after falling in the previous episode. In Tony's dream, the guy with the bullet wound in his head was Philly Parisi, a character that was killed in the first episode of this season. He is the guy that was gossiping about Tony and his mother. They wanted to bring back the actor (Dan Grimaldi), so he reappears in this episode as twin brother Patsy Parisi. That was the guy who brought in the coat that Tony gave to Carmela.

Angzarr

I don't know what condition Melfi is describing, but it's not alexithymia as I understand the term. "Alexithymia is a condition characterized by difficulties in identifying and describing emotions, and it is commonly found in autistic individuals. Research suggests that a significant percentage of autistic people experience alexithymia, which can complicate emotional regulation and communication." Nothing to do with antisocial personality types, "ceaseless action", or doing "abhorrent things."

Stan the Man

I don’t want to spoil anything but when the season 3 episode “second opinion” is watched I think it might help explain some things. About Melfi.

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

2 episodes a week except for episode 9 (the finale) because it’s 2 1/2 hours long, then back to Sopranos S3 on April 21

Angzarr

Warm flat ginger ale and saltines...

He also predicted the world wide web

maikeru

Richie didn't even follow his own rule to marry Janice before hitting her. I mean, he literally said to Christopher to stop beating Adriana unless he puts a ring on her finger.

maikeru

I heard the last season (5 I think) is dogshit because it doesn't make sense, I mean the ending and all.

megamoo chilli

I always remember the gun to head during sex thing. I genuinely can't think of a bigger redder flag.

Shibby

I'm probably in the minority but the super long dream sequence stuff to figure out Pussy is the snitch was lazy writing. It's still an incredible show though and one of the best.

maikeru

you can witness that also in Doc Hollywood (1991)

Brandon

I'd say that analysis of Janice and Ritchie (and Junior) is spot on. It's also worth mentioning that Stockholm Syndrome is highly contested as a legitimate psychiatric condition.

Brandon

IMO the dreams are more about getting over his denial of the situation. When Puss goes off explaining the details of the calling card scam to Furio, the look on Tony's face tells me that his mind is pretty much made up. If Puss was wearing a wire at that moment, he was explaining the entire scam to any FBI agent listening in.

Shibby

That makes sense I hadn't thought of it like that. It's still a bit too long though lol

Bill B.

Same with me. Flat, room temp ginger ale. And pretzels for some reason :-)

Charles Clover

They're first cousins, I'm pretty sure.

August21

Missed some great comedic lines

maikeru

oh really, always thought they're siblings 😅

Angela D. Mitchell

Honestly, Simone, I can't stand Meadow either. But I did like the moment when she told Carm she knows who her father is and she'll cut off anyone who doesn't get her. George, I think Janice CONVINCED herself to love Richie. I think she was so desperate to be wanted and to join herself to a man she saw as powerful -- that she made a fantasy about Richie and about themselves as a couple. Look at the kitchen scene -- it's surreal. She's talking about their (ridiculously huge) wedding, and he's this brute in an undershirt going, "B_tch, where's my dinner?" And she thinks she's living the love story of the century. So I was weirdly moved by Janice's choice. She cosplayed feminism, but when he punched her in the face, you could see reality hit her. This vain, narcissistic, scheming woman -- all that fantasy stuff she had created fell away and she was just a woman living with an abuser who realized that this man had nothing but contempt for her. That he would hurt her again anytime he wanted to. So when Janice shot Richie, I cheered. And when she shot him again, I cheered again. And I loved that Tony was there for her. And I think Tony's line to Livia is one of the most important he has ever spoken. There's Livia, sneering at Janice, and Tony looks at Livia with anger and with real compassion for Janice he says: "What chance did she have? With you as a mother?" That really hit like a sledgehammer. Meanwhile, I am here for the Tony of these last few episodes. You can see that therapy has helped him -- he helps Janice, stands up to his mother, and speaks honestly to Uncle Junior. Melfi would be proud. I love the moment when Tony looks at Pussy at dinner and he just knows. I love all the fever dreams -- the insights the dreams give us into Tony and his fears... and then Tony figures it out. It was an oddly moving goodbye with Pussy -- I loved them all having a last drink together. But I was frustrated with Pussy's execution because why not do it above decks? Like George said, it would have saved them a lot of needless effort and pain, and fiberglass is a lot easier to clean than carpet. (Just sayin'.) Also, James Gandolfini was such a gift. So many complex emotions in just a look, a pause, a smile. He can make Tony pitiable, scary, and then strangely lovable. Thanks for a great season of reactions!

funky weapon

I was wrong. The Sopranos is a great show. I'm actually disappointed we're going back to Stranger Things, even though I think S4 is a very strong season. I just wanna stay with my goofy mobster buddies who act like teddy bears but are really sharks.

REDR58

I *almost* wish Tony and the others had allowed Pussy to take himself out, perhaps standing on the stern of the boat and then he (already weighted down) would just drop into the water. Kind of like how Michael through Tom Hagen suggests that Pentangeli take himself out at the end of The Godfather Part II.

REDR58

Yes the saltines!

REDR58

Never saw Buffy so I don’t have that association!

Donna Castellano

I think I know what you mean. I've only seen that particular episode twice, the other time was watching with TBR Schmitt.

Donna Castellano

I'll let them make their own decisions but I was extremely disappointed in S5

Matthew Maxon

I am also watching this along with you. More like listening to it while I play video games like Stelaris. My wife watches it more. I listen & look at every now & again. 😎🤓

Donna Castellano

Remember when they'd put out the compilation soundtracks for each Sopranos season? I have all of them still, some great tracks. I still love "Tiny Tears" by the Tindersticks. It fit so perfectly when Tony was in that weird funk during "Isabela".

Donna Castellano

yep they're cousins. I loved when Aida turned up for interviews on Michael and Steve's Sopranos rewatch podcast. She was one of the best guests.

Reuben Filimaua

Yeeah that's how I see it too. The constant camera cutting from their "perfect" family gathering in their expensive looking house, to the different criminal rackets they operate to support that lifestyle is quite the contrast.

Reuben Filimaua

Damn. Never thought of that. I should've known that lol cos its quite blatantly clear many times that this show really loves its parallels and themes when constructing each episode.

Reuben Filimaua

I don't remember if the episode has a warning, but hopefully someone lets them know beforehand if it doesn't. Its a really tough episode and quite graphic.

Reuben Filimaua

Honestly it really shows how strong the directing is.

dieselbeast

On a different patreon, I tried to warn the reactors being as vauge as possible and people still got salty I said anything at all lol I'm not in the business of spoilers but sometimes there are exceptions if you just try to be vauge about it sheesh, I've only seen two other women reactors react to it and they both cried during and one after and one of them didn't even want to talk about it for the review, understandable

China Andronicus

Richie’s obsession with the jacket is unsurprising. Italians can and do hold grudges over crazy things. When my grandparents moved to FL, my grandma’s uncle was in his late eighties and got furious that he wasn’t asked for help moving. They argued for months.

I know this comment is old but OMG I love that description of them! ❤️
