Omg omg omg I can’t wait to watch this one hahah

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Absolutely blindsided by how fantastic this movie is, give Inde Navarrette all the awards. Between Zach Cregger, Kane Parsons and Curry Barker, the 2020s have produced some incredibly exciting talent in the horror space. Can’t wait to see what they do next.

22 WOLVES

NO NO NO NO NO DON'T DO THAT! 😃😃😃😃😃😃

Divinerights

I will say that, the creator said this isn’t a monkey paw sitch where you get a twisted version of your wish.

Matthew S

We Think you know a lot because you have shown your intelligence through commentary on your videos. The way you talk and think about things shows you have above average IQ.

Marko T.

I recommend Possession (1981). Its has Sam Neill.

Śéáń

"Biiinge!"* *Said in the tone of someone waiting, staring at their screen with a big smile on their face all day while waiting for this video to drop.

Christian Da Silva

So, does this mean that every time I bring up The Cable Guy you get an email? Haha sorry, I'll just stop and wait for you to watch it sometime within the next few years.

sb

The nuances in the acting make this film so rewatchable.

Jeff K.

Related: I know that George is good at Photoshop, but it's still genuinely crazy how well Simone's face fits on to so many characters from so many movies and genres.

Henry Sanchez

I know it’s your guys thing before every movie checking out the poster and making predictions…. But the most fun aspect of first time reactions are the genuine surprise reactions both on plot details as well as cast. Especially if there’s a late entry of a cast member. Looking beforehand like you guys do keeps that in your minds so up until the actor appears you’re already expecting them. Same thing with plot details. Like this movie builds the first 10 minutes to make Bear look like the obsessed stalker one (he is in reality but story wise it’s Nikki based on the wish) so you guys having that knowledge beforehand takes away the surprise. Just my opinion. All love

Cc Decc

I loathe that movie, but I do gotta appreciate your persistence. :p

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

I've been looking forward to this one. I'm kind of expecting Simone to do a lot of face-hiding, and George to do a lot of laughing about it. xD But I am sure, as has been the case elsewhere, some discussion about Bear and his intentions, etc.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

I still get impressed with Inde/Nikki's reactions during her "waking" moments, every time I watch these reactions. She's so good. I knew her from the Superman TV series before this, but she never really got the chance to shine there. I'm looking forward to seeing what she does next

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

"I thought we were having a nice daaaate!" I still get creeped out when she's outside the car "yeah..I'm sorry.... yeah". Such a subtle, but good piece of acting.

Kickinthescience

George had many faces to choose from for Simone with this movie. I’m surprised he kept it simple

Den Radar Ryan

Phenomenal achievement by writer, director and editor, Curry Barker. Very inspiring! Also, Inde Navarrette definitely deserves an Oscar nomination for her role in this. The movie is about to soon make 500 times it's budget. 👀 I really appreciate and prefer horror films like this that haunt you for days or even years after viewing and that rely more on cinematography, lighting, story, acting and atmosphere - films that create the horror and let the viewer's imagination to fill in the gaps rather than just shock value and gore. ♥️📼🍿✌️

Poineapples

"We get an email every comment" So you're telling me there's a chance you'll watch Guillermo Del Toro's Pinnochio 👹

The Gunslinger

I watched this at home because horror isn't usually my thing. I'm glad I did because it's very nerve racking (in a good way). It's hard to believe it was shot in only 20 days!

TurnerK

Yeahh....yeahhh...yeah?........yeah

sb

I was in the middle of unfairly telling George to to hush and he intuitively mentions the billion dollar wish, winning me over as I humbly regret to hush him again. He said "anyone" not anything BTW George.

TurnerK

Still trying to chase the high of watching this in theaters

SkepticApostle

Another fun fact this is now one of the highest grossing horror films of all time with $400+ million at the box office despite having a $700,000 dollar budget

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Fun fact for George, because I know he's a big The Simpsons fan. but this movie was directly inspired by one of the Halloween horror episodes. The monkey claw one. According to the writer, producer.

Bob Loblaw

You guys should check out the animated film "The Legend of Hei".

MasterElodin

Man same for me and Cloud Atlas. I'm still confused how almost no one seems to even know that movie exists even though it was made by the same directors that made the Matrix movies. It's such an insanely good, deep and unique movie but somehow so forgotten that I'm afraid it will never get enough suggestions to be viable on it's own. But at the same time I think Simone and George are one of the few reaction channels who would actually get into that movie enough and understand it. Idk it's a shame but I'll wait and just be happy if it happens someday. I suggested it multiple times probably over a year ago at this point and just stopped because I figured it would get obnoxious at some point getting the same suggestions.

Cartoons ReAct

The director said is not a monkeys paw situation but he got the inspiration after watching The Simpsons episode of the Monkey Paw about a wish going really bad, he also was going to release the entire movie if he couldn't get it in theaters but luckily he did...the movie earned a ton of money compared to it's small budget and at least the main girl actress is getting tons of prospects now

Ian Hunt

Loved this movie. Going from “I feel for you mate” to “this guy is just scum” was a hell of a ride. Negative points - another dickhead of a film character called Ian (see also High Fidelity)

Tim Pierce

I think even my dog has reacted to this movie.

Matthew S

It’s crazy I never noticed first time watching that when she’s dressed like Sarah with tattoos she’s also wearing her scalp. Apparently anyway. I still can’t notice lol Such a good movie. All the actors were brilliant but inde!! She’s something else. Stunning performance

2026-09-10 08:00 I’ve seen this film 4 times in the last couple of weeks (my niece insisted!) and was hesitant to rewatch it again with ya’ll. Glad I did. Ya’ll reaction added such a fun layer on an already good movie. Simone, I hope you have recovered.

Kickinthescience

Reminded me of Get Out with all that No No No No

Rev

Not enough squinting, but very good.

Rev

Awesome! What's your dog's channel?

ShōNuff3K

Was that a legit stress ball Simone had?

simo

"Oh so he's obsessed" - Simone just casually figuring out the movie's point within the first minute of it 😂

Ashton Lewis

If you want to watch a good Curry Barker short, watch The Chair

Ashton Lewis

You should definitely watch it on the channel too

Henry Sanchez

Them not finding out that this was under 1 million dollar budget is wild

Matrim

Y’all way too focused on demons.

Belekai

Not gonna lie, the movie was good, very well done, but there is one massive continuity error that kinda turns the whole thing upside down. He wished for "Nikki to love me more than anyone else in the world". And everything that happened after was a result of his wish being granted. Except....his wish was not granted. Nikki was trapped elsewhere, not in control of her body and in the moments of levity she did get, she was horrified. In other words, Bears wish was not granted. I mean i get it, clearly it was about bears obsession with her, not the other way round, but the whole premise of it being based on a wish being granted is fundamentally flawed. Dont get me wrong, for a low budget and reasonably unknown director, its a great movie and i look forward to seeing what else they come up with :)

blerbaberpaterb

what is the right amount to focus in your opinion?

Russell Richardson

George in what world should He have killed Nikki first then himself? Sorry but that was a surprise to hear??🤣 Nikki in no way deserved to die when it was just bear that needed to! (Not hate, just commentary)

Russell Richardson

Yeah they got stuck on that a bit. They gotta apply the movies rules, can’t use their own🤣

Brandon

The question is what would Nikki's wish have been if Bear gave the item to her as he intended at first? To be a successful writer? How would that have played out for her and what would the "catch" be?

Brandon

The more unrealistic thing is that people in their mid-20's all live in their own houses. We know that Bear has his grandma's old home, but Nikki and Ian both seem to have their own house as well. What is this, the 60's, when non-college grads could afford a whole house as long they had a job? 😆

MasterElodin

This feels kinda close to Stephen Kings wishful things but I guess this entire trope is older than that anyway. Monkeys paw etc. Great movie :) Also from what I could gather the only major difference in the festival cut is the brick scene which includes multiple hits of her head instead of just one which is in the theatrical release to avoid the 17+ rating. So it appears amazon has the festival cut.

ZachBrickowski

Hope you guys can watch Backrooms, the other smash hit by a YouTuber turned filmmaker, soon.

Daniel Jones

I recommend watching The Vile Eye’s video “Analyzing Evil: Obsession”.

OddThomas

This and Backrooms were two amazing horror movies this year, although as great as Obsession is, it borrows a lot from Smile for self-explanatory reasons & Possession (which contains one of THE great female performances ever, and which Lily Rose Depp basically copied wholesale for Nosferatu).

Monica Alarcon

You might as well watch Backrooms and complete the trilogy of this year's successful horror movies directed by YouTubers.

Brandon

The discourse online about Bear has been wild to see. Way too many people treat him like he's pure evil the moment he makes the wish. As if nobody ever wished to themselves that their crush would love them. The movie has more nuance than that and Bear deserves SOME credit... but not much. The moment to turn on Bear is the sex scene, which is definitely coded to look like a date rape. Bear's pants aren't fully off, Nikki is mostly clothed and she's detached from the act like she's trying to be somewhere else. From that point on he is the obsessed one because he's desperately trying to do anything to make it work in his favor, despite Nikki's behavior.

WarboyFeffy

The movie is very possession coded. I love the film, but it's one of my small nitpicks. They have said in interviews that it's not a demon, but the camera tricks to make Nikki move creepily are straight up lifted from ghost/possession films. Regardless, it's a great movie. Inde is incredible.

Liuzetz

So glad you got to check this one! It is one of the best movies of the year for me and they achieved so much with so little which is really impressive, especially as a debut movie. for the director and actress.

ShittyShittyGameGang

No but the real Nikki asked him to kill her. But he can't even do that for her

ShittyShittyGameGang

The director has said that there isn't always necessarily a "catch". The one wish willow itself isn't bad or good, Bear just made a terrible wish and it did what it could with that.

ShittyShittyGameGang

Yeah like their conversation at the diner is basically saying "why does it matter?" We both know this isn't really Nikki but does it even matter. "Don't do that" don't break this charade we're both playing into by questioning it.

ShittyShittyGameGang

And if you look up the script the rape scene was initially even worse than what was put into the film.

Brandon

I have to wonder why some people in that "reddit" thread Bear was reading said that it didn't even work, when it so clearly does.

ShittyShittyGameGang

This is my 4th time watching this movie. And all kinds of behind the scene stuff. The director has said that no it's not a demon. It's like this brand new being that was created and took over when he made the wish and I think she's trying to figure things out herself. That's why she gets confused and says my cat or I ate a bug. And then she knows Bear "loves" the cat (which I think is a stretch anyways, he doesn't seem to me like a loving pet owner with his actions) so she makes the memorial for the cat, she kind of moves like a cat when she came out of the corner, she fed Bear the cat. She's desperately trying to understand and make him love her the way she loves him. She doesn't have a choice in it either, so all her pain is real to her. Like the guy on the phone said (which was the director btw) you have a moral obligation to be with her. And the people at the store aren't demons either, the girl genuinely was warning Bear and the guy made a wish that he didn't have anxiety or something (Curry's dad's idea) which is why he's so chill.

They both had a bunch of room mates?

Hiphopopotamus

Q for George I think... Has an opinion on a movie ever changed when editing? Either loses some of the magic, or some foreshadowing moments pop and makes it better in the re-watch?

Dorian Cantu

Bear was a villain WAY before he ignored Nikki's pleas to be put out of her misery. The official script of the movie is online and the restaurant transition to THAT scene the description says "His smile fades, quietly accepting what he never thought he was" there was also apparently a part cut out where Nikki snaps out of it and tries to fight him off and it describes him as being "annoyed". He ma not have known that Nikki was trapped in her own body in a sunken place situation but the restaurant scene made it clear, she was not consenting. There's no question, Bear was never a good guy he was always the entitled "nice guy" someone Nikki thought she could trust (people try to frame her thinking of him as a brother to be a negative but that doesn't mean she didn't care about him or hold him in high regard she just wasn't interested in him romantically), the beginning of the movie he tells Ian "I would never take advantage of her" but the moment opportunity presents itself he immediately chose the most deplorable path. This movie is so clever about how it serves as cautionary tale for a having a "nice guy" friend. I think this also just goes to show what a toxic term "friendzoning" is, because it basically relegates the woman's position of the matter as an object that wasn't able to be obtained, and the guy as someone who "failed" at something, also putting the woman in a scary position because rejecting a man runs the risk of making him angry or even attacking them (this happened to one of my oldest, closest friends) and his excuse to her being he didn't want to be friendzoned....maybe she didn't want to be relationship-zoned. Also a bit of a sidenote, the director confirms that the stick wasn't a monkey's paw situation and none of the people working were demons (Nikki was screaming because she was imprisoned in her own body as a slave), it's just Bear's wish was THAT self-centered and selfish.

Jay

Curry Barker has another film called 'Milk & Serial', came out in 2024. He couldn't get a distributor so they just put it up on their YT channel. It's a very good found footage movie and just over an hour long. A full length reaction on YT would encounter no copyright issues. Or a more realistic request, surely you're watching Backrooms soon? My YT feed is full of reactions to that in recent days, so it's streaming somewhere.

unfuer is hard to read

I remember Curry Barker and Inde Navarrette both saying that the possessions and demon thing is not true. Like the wish is just making Nikki feel this way, not actually controlling her. I felt like commenting that just because you talked about it a lot. But tbh who cares, I mean demon dating in the end sounds cool anyway, hahah After the bedroom corner scene I personally thought she's controlled by the witch. Mainly because of her hag-like face and the fact that I misheard 'one wish willow' as 'one witch willow'... I don't know how. Also the apple in the lunch box, spooky fairy tale story at the party, hair cutting.

Igor Iksanov

So what you're saying is if I spam a suggestion, you'll definitely get the message and a bunch of reminders? Got it.

Kurtis Keith

There are two prominent theories for why she would feed him his cat. One is that it's just Real Nikki punishing him for what he's done. The second theory, that I personally prefer, is that the entity's concept of love is really messed up. She literally says "I want to eat you up" later in the movie as well as the wear your skin meme and other examples of her wanting him so much that she wants to be him/consume him. Wish Nikki thinks Bear loves his cat, and since she can only go by her own understanding of love, she thinks he would want to consume the cat the same way she wants Bear to be a part of her.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

A word of caution for George. Be careful with this on YouTube, a lot of reactions of this have been taking down by copyright strike.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

Reminds me of how some cats bring in dead birds or rodents as gifts for their owners.

heidismiles

This was the first time that I watched a movie reaction for a film I hadn't seen before! It's still $25 on streaming so I figured, why not watch it with you guys?

Philipp Roensch

4 things I really love about how they chose to show the horror: The music choices, romantic classics, but it just makes more uneasy in the dark. The loss of free will with snapbacks, it takes time to posess her. Crushed black levels, we are constantly scanning the frame for detail and are afaid of the darkest parts at the same time. Her emotions become projections, guilt ridden, lies and full of attachment anxiety, just like Bear's fears. I believe the wish is real (within the film) and it is literal, it must be something like a trickster demon enforcing them. But to be clear, the monster is Bear, who cannot face to correct his mistake right away. He is just bargening and only ever took advantage. I'm sorry there had to be so much dead pet in this one, hope you are ok.

DM DC

I think with Niki, since it wasn't her and was supposedly a demon, I think the wish sticks with the spirit or in this case the supposed demon. So the demon now carries the weight of that wish, while poor Niki will likely carry the, what sounded like torture she endured, along with all the aftermath of the events that occurred in her absence. I reckon she will have some serious ptsd and flashbacks from her time below, and of course the aftermath that she will likely be blamed for. Her being in the corner that first time watching him sleep. Probably the creepiest thing I've ever seen.

funky weapon

the stick is totally a Monkey's Paw. it's the same narrative device and has the same consequences.

funky weapon

the most unrealistic thing about this movie is that Ian could pull Nikki.

funky weapon

I think they said it didn't work to keep other people from falling into the same problem.

David

i could fix her

Kurtis Keith

Ian says "hands off my Mom's china" during the party. He just lives with his parents

Kurtis Keith

I think the licensed music is probably what gets a lot of reactors in trouble. They leave too much in of the scene leaving the bar where she gives the money to the homeless guy, and especially the final scene with her screaming over "Forever"

dansoddity

ooooh just from george's hint I know backrooms is coming!

Jayson Phillips

What is your opinion on the SONY digital rights issue?

Logan Nelson

One of the few times I've seen the patreon edition have an intro cut... Oh the drama, the intrigue... What could it be?!?! lol

JHaze

not really an uncommon pairing at all irl

JHaze

Pretty sure the people who worked at the shop were just regular people who made wishes

Andrew

Simone's shirt was perfect for this reaction. 😂

Crap Bag - first name Crap last name Bag

I don’t think Bear is a villain, he’s definitely a young coward. Realistically what is he supposed to do after realizing the wish came true, he can kill himself or Nikki neither of which most people could do especially in their early 20s or he abandons her or stays with her. I also don’t think she’s in hell I think she was screaming because during that part Nikki would have be standing in the apartment covered in piss shit and vomit.

Mike Kay

I really enjoyed this movie and both of your takes/reactions!

Andrew

I really don't like the idea that it was a demon that was possessing Nikki and I'm glad the director has confirmed that this isn't the case. I feel that's just way too easy and cliche. I like the idea that it's a different version of her that has taken over because of the wish and is suppressing the real Nikki. I think that is way more F-ed up than it just being a demon.

David

Nikki isn't possessed. What we see is the fundamental nature of the supernatural force of "the wish" enforcing itself on her. It is still Nikki. However, the aspects of her that make her the fully realized person that Bear thinks he's in love with are isolated. Those that are not relevant to "love Bear more than anyone else in the fucking world" are set aside. And those parts of her that are relevant are pushed to the fore. Her odd behavior is probably a consequence of the emotion of "love" being squeezed into such a short amount of time. It is immediate. It's immediacy intensifies the sense of the emotion because she's not given any opportunity to grow into that love like most people normally do.

funky weapon

great movie with an unsatisfying ending. I don't know what I would've preferred and I clearly can't make a better ending or else I'd be the hotshot youtuber who made one of the most profitable horror movies ever. that being said, I don't know, I just felt like something was missing with this. Best thing about this film is easily Inde Navarette, but the guy who played Bear is no slouch. as great as Inde's performance is, it doesn't hit nearly as hard without him selling her crazy shit as well as he does. As for the story itself, I think the only real chud here is Ian. it was only on rewatching with you guys that I noticed he was setting Bear up to fail in the beginning with the waitress. on a second viewing I could see Ian was worried about Bear and Nikki getting together. Ian is not a bro. Ian is the farthest thing from a bro. now what I still keep chewing on is whether Nikki actually liked Bear or if her "little brother" confession to Sarah was a lie of omission - not that Sarah made it up, but that it happened long before Nikki and Bear grew close over what seems to be the last six months to a year. Bear mentions how much she helped him during his Grandma's death, and it seems like he inherited/moved into Grandma's not long after she passed, and Nikki had never been there before. It's not uncommon for people to bond or even fall in love during times of extreme turbulence. I don't know. Nikki's reactions before and during that car ride are so damn hard to read. Overall I hope Curry Barker makes another movie. I hope it's good, too. maybe with a better ending.

FranciscoGios

The Director Curry Barker is the Wishmaster the voice behind the phone when Bear calls the Help number. And my thoughts about why the "demon" and the Wishmaster keep telling Bear to kill himself is because his soul will be reversed from Nikki's, basically once you make the wish your soul is tide to the Wishmaster. Nikki's soul is not exactly in hell but in a dark Void her soul can travel back to her body to the "real world". And I think the name Bear is like saying the Bearer of the wish.

Brandon

I must have missed that line, but the decor of his house screams "25 year old male decorated the place." 😅

Johnny Jiron

Her agency is being taken away. Breaking down that wish, there is really no other way to grant it without taking the choice away from her. Suppose the wish could've changed her chemistry and memories to create a version of Nikki that loves Bear. But thats still removing who she is in that moment of her life. She doesn't love bear. How else do you make that wish work consensually?

Ste Rawlings

I feel like what makes the film so impactful is that as the story unfolds, it becomes increasingly clear that the wish may never have been necessary at all. The film quietly hints that a genuine connection between the two characters was already possible if he had been willing to be open, honest, and vulnerable about how he felt. Instead, he chooses the easier option. The wish becomes a symbol of that choice, not a way to create love, but a way to skip over the messy, uncomfortable reality of building intimacy through trust and emotional honesty. Modern dating culture often encourages people to avoid vulnerability rather than embrace it. Instead of allowing relationships to develop naturally, many people look for shortcuts through image management, manipulation, sexual chemistry, or emotional games. The film captures that perfectly. Barron doesn't turn to the wish because he lacks a chance at connection; he turns to it because he doesn't want to face the uncertainty, rejection, and emotional risk that authentic connection demands.

REDR58

Not much to say that hasn't already been said but wow, amazing film and exceptional work by Danielle Fabiola "Inde" Navarrette. Baron. There's an unfortunate name for Bear. Did you guys notice when Nikki reads about, “a love only the branch of a WILLOW tree could conjure” during the party? Anyway, I was slightly disappointed the 1984 song "Obsession" by Animotion was not used in the movie. The lyrics are apt, apt! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIs5StN8J-0 You are an obsession (you are an obsession) I cannot sleep (I cannot sleep) I am a possession (I am your possession) Unopened at your feet There's no balance (there is no balance) No equality (no equality) Be still (be still) I will not accept defeat (I will not accept defeat) I will have you, yes, I will have you I will find a way and I will have you Like a butterfly, a wild butterfly I will collect you and capture you You are an obsession, you're my obsession Who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me? You are an obsession, you're my obsession Who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me? I feed you, I drink you By day and by night I need you, I need you By sun or candlelight You protest, you want to leave Stay, oh, there's no alternative (there's no alternative) Your face appears again, I see the beauty there But I see danger, stranger, beware Of circumstance in your naked dreams Your affection is not what it seems You are an obsession, you're my obsession Who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me? You are an obsession, you're my obsession Who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me? My fantasy (my fantasy) Has turned to madness (has turned to madness) And all my goodness (and all my goodness) Has turned to badness (has turned to badness) My need to possess you has consumed my soul My life is trembling, I have no control...

HeyHeyJK

Inde Navarette will hopefully break the stigma of actresses in horror movies not getting nominated for acting awards. She made that film and hopefully big things are ahead for her. Perfect reaction and so glad you guys finally watched it.

cojiiii

It's very likely this has already been said, but in the off chance it hasn't, I just wanted to put it out there that this is *not* a "possession" movie where Nicki has been possessed by something/somebody else. Obviously many of us, myself included assumed that was the case, but the director is that one that directly stated it's not possession, ver batum. As for what is actually going on in her head/body then, that's anyone's guess at the moment (as long as your guess isn't "possession" lol)

Stephanie

If Nikki's wish was revoked doesn't matter, because Bear is dead. 😉

Lizzy

She's going off of Bear's understanding of love imo. He made the wish. So his concept of love was fulfilled. He was confused about the difference between romance and love in the car. He wants to consume and possess. So yes, Poor wish Nikki is a mess.

joshua macdonald

Could you guys checkout the one piece live action, it has even gotten the normies into anime. Also there’s Dandadan, She-ra, and Kipo and the age of wonder beasts. All of these shows have great music, characters, and storytelling. All of the shows stay true to the source material (with the exception of She-ra whose story is elevated by the writers of the show). They all can be found on Netflix.

Mike FromOz

Definitely. It's a masterpiece. Only the European cut though. The US cut is an absolute mess and destroys the film.

Mike FromOz

Cloud Atlas is an all-time favourite of mine. It's so wonderfully put together. I absolutely would pay to have a Director's Cut where they put back in a lot of stuff that was removed to save time and make it more crowd friendly. I could spend so much more time in that world.

Sean

So want to throw out a suggestion to watch the series Widows Bay and I promise I won't spam it.

BellaBlue

Bear was always the villain from jump...first clue...it takes extreme neglect for the cat to get into that medicine and die..so many neglectful things by Bear had to occur for that to happen... Then basically every decision from that point on was progressively more selfish/cowardly/evil

John

This was an interesting movie. To answer your question about the emergency room not taking her, if you refuses care, there are limited circumstances when she could be forced into treatment. I think that sequence is communicating Bear trying to get the nurse to take her but Nikki refusing. That being said if he had said she smashed a bottle into her face in most states in the United States there would have been grounds to force her into the EC for treatment, but given Bear's character I don't think he provided those details.

Brandon

I love that song, but I think it would have been a little too on the nose. 😅

BubblyRainbows

I feel like if I'm going to comment on a movie called "Obsession," I need to do it excessively.

I thought of what was happening to Nikki what happened to the people in Get Out. Basically their consciousness stuck in a void with their body automated and forced to watch everything that happens.

Luis Roberto Sánchez

I’ve been watching your channel on YouTube for a while because I love your reactions, so I was really hoping you'd react to this movie. I was so curious about your take on it that... I just had to join your Patreon to see the full video, and it was totally worth it. Both the movie and your reaction were top-tier!

Cory Garron

That's when I fully turned on him. He knew something was wrong and ignored it to take advantage of it.

Cory Garron

Me too, by killing Barron

Cory Garron

He could have attempted to undo it. Sure, we know he'd faul, but he could have tried. It took him a very long time to try to un-wish it.

Cory Garron

Simone recovered when Bear died...

Joshua Baratheon

Its intentionally ambiguous as to whether Nikki likes Bear. Curry Barker did two takes of Nikki's early scenes, one where she is clearly interested in Bear and another where she wasn't. Curry then edited the two takes together similar to Wilem DaFoe's scenes in American Psycho. Its why she seems so hot and cold about Bear.

That scene with the medicine bottle was a little odd. Firstly, why did he still have all of those medicine bottles from his late grandmother? He didn't seem overly attached to them. How was that one bottle's lid loose like that? I almost thought, afterwards, that it was fate or some magic that made the bottle fall and open somehow (we clearly see the medicine cabinet door doesn't stay shut) but that doesn't seem likely.

REDR58

Exactly why it was so perfect!

Bear's discomfort at asking Nikki out was so strong that he needed to play act it out with a restaurant server, yet he had enough guts to ask that same person to help him out? That was a little strange to me.

I find the nature of the company/hotline to be the most confusing. At first they seemed like just evil, the devil, lawful evil (lots of rules). But then, the wishes don't seem to be all bad, it's just that Bear's wish is inherently cursed. Does the evil just expect most wishes to end up that way? This seems a weird mix of lawful evil, chaotic evil and maybe even just neutral. But why do they do it then? Who exactly did the final wish? Was it Nikki's "demon"? That works? So it does not require a soul? Or did the "demon" just use real Nikki's wish? That seems double fucked.

Ste Rawlings

I assumed Ian pushed him into that scenario tbh

OddThomas

Agree. Especially older films as the studio assumes everyone has seen it long ago so they can just put EVERYTHING on an updated poster for home video release, which becomes the go-to poster on IMDb

OddThomas

Possession is great

OddThomas

Yes. Everything up to that point is forgivable but having sex with someone who is essentially not conscious is where he becomes the villain

BellaBlue

yeah...I'd like to see Barker's answer to this. My thoughts and just guesses of course..is Bear abusing granny's old pain meds and is just a very careless/self centered person and just left something lying around

gfixler

She's just the right level of clingy for me. ❤️

One of the great things about this for me is using older tropes, scenes, prop designs (oww pkg) and putting a fresh current spin on all that. Love the sound design, pacing, jump scares, shadow/corner shots, humor-lot's to unpack here. Very impressive, edgy film ⚡️

If he said “I wanna billion dollars, me might just have gotten a billion dollars and that’s it.” That’s the funniest prediction ever. I haven’t gotten done watching but I can’t wait to see him wish for a billion dollars to see George’s reaction.

Hannah Gs

For sure. Like look at the beginning when he is explaining why he "loves" Nikki. Its all about what she has done for him, nothing bout who she is as a person. And the one time she tries to open up to him about her writing he makes fun of her and doesn't understand it. He never cared about her as a person. That is shown by the fact that we basically know nothing about the real Nikki in the whole movie aside from "she wants to write" cause bear doesn't know either, and he doesn't care. If she didn't act weird, he would never have questioned or tried to stop the wish. He only did because she was making him look bad.

This movie is so sad on rewatches. Like Bear is so bad even from the beginning. Like when he is explaining why he "loves" Nikki in his confession in the opening. Its all about what she has done for him, nothing about who she is as a person. He only did because she was making him look bad and embarrassed him. He would be perfectly fine with a fake Nikki just adoring him and being quiet in public.

I think in the story being told the stick works as a monkey's paw because of Bear's terrible wish. But the One Wish Willow isn't actually a monkey's paw that is trying to screw over the wisher. Ian's wish to have a billion dollars just causes a billion dollars to appear. The guy in the store seems comfortable with whatever his wish was having read the instructions and warning on the box. Curry Barker has mentioned a anthology series about wishes and I think that could be very interesting in a Twilight Zone way where sometimes it works out and other times it doesn't.

Rhys

Curry Barker has stated that its not a monkeys paw, its the way Bear worded his wish. There is no downside to Ians wish

Rhys

this isn't a continuity error, what? and these are just the one willow wish's rules

Rhys

my idea is that bear uses the meds himself for whatever reason, be that an addiction, to help him sleep. whatever, and he left a bottle undone and his cat got in. \

Rhys

i think the ending is perfectly dark

Rhys

why lol, he seems like a charasmatic, handsome dude

Rhys

Curry said he just chose bear because its a normal name, Baron, with an interesting nickname

FranciscoGios

Fair enough I'm m just making the name more interesting for myself 😂

Inkpendude

It's not a big deal, but I has "ruined" a lot of those little moments in movies for them. On the other hand, it's the poster so its not their fault

Henry Sanchez

No I agree. But again just saying theres absolutely no negative going in completely blind wheras any info like the poster, cast, or basic plot line can have even just a 1% negative effect

Tony Wirt

Shoot I’ll even go as far as to say the start of “Oh he’s a villain” is the freak out with the kiss, like his immediate reaction is to go defense and say “You kissed me” rather than “Are you okay? Is everything cool?”

Tony Wirt

I mean if the director says that it’s not a Monkey’s Paw and we can see that with both the ship owner and Ian having decent wishes that don’t go bad (Him getting shot isn’t a consequence of his wish, it’s just him being an idiot), then it stands to reason it’s not a monkey’s paw.

Tony Wirt

My idea is that they said it didn’t work cause what they wished for was so insignificant that they didn’t notice the change and just thought it was a regular occurrence.

Korpse

I work in the emergency room and even though the other party may be bleeding we sadly cannot force someone to go into a hospital to seek treatment as much as we feel they need it 🥺

Gern Blanston

Don't most of us love someone more than anyone else in the world?

dairyslime

The actor HIMSELF said Bear is the villain. When the guy on the phone said "Do you want to cancel your wish?", Bear at the time didn't know he couldn't cancel it, and still instead asked to alter the wish instead when he knew the wish was removing Nikki's free will, altered or not. He is the villain.

Maxi

Hey, George Square!! Leave my Sapphic Style Backwards Baseball Cap alone!

Maxi

I fucking HATE puck scenes in movies any day, but FUCK that scene...the only one to actually almost make me follow suit...

Maxi

The fact that I have to specify that it's the first one...taking a break...it's actually is a really cool fucking movie, but GOD{S}DAMN

El_Zilcho22

Ah damn. DMCA got this vid. Unfortunate. :(
