TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Some really great movies here, White Men Can’t Jump and Backdraft are 90’s classics. I gotta go with The Lighthouse though, my favourite of Robert Eggers movies so far and a modern masterpiece. Great picks all around!

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Glengarry Glen Ross has a heck of a cast and reminds that coffee is for closers 🤭 Also White Men Can’t Jump and The Man in The Iron Mask are great! Good luck to the winner ☺️

Ian Hunt

Secretary - “George has seen some of this”. Yeh I bet he has…👀

Mike FromOz

Secretary. Because I want to see George in the inevitable thumbnail.

newhastings

Yer fond of me lobster aint ye

Fister Miyagi

The Black Cauldron Titan A.E. The Fisher King To Wong Foo, Thanks for everything

Brant

HAAAAAAAARK!

probablyKoi

The Lighthouse, let’s go

Ashton Lewis

I'm surprised to see the lighthouse taking the lead here, certainly an interesting one. Hoping that The Man in The Iron Mask gets it's day someday soon!

DonkyDave

I really hope Wild Things doesn't get forgotten, it almost won last week :(

Fritz

Finally the last missing Eggers. Honestly maybe his best.

Matt Dellarosa

Lighthouse is the best movie on this poll. I couldnt really get through Worlds Fastest Indian. I wanted to like it but it lost me halfway through. Backdraft can suck an egg. Forget the hype, I think its dumb. It was a big hit when it came out but the acting and the dialogue is wonky and awkward. Love Deniro but he comes off like a philosophical wierdo to me in Backdraft. Normal people dont talk like the people in that movie. Not trying to spoil it for you but I personally didnt like it. As always, go into it with an open mind. Mine is just one perspective.

Logan Raynes

The Black Cauldron is a fantastic shout. Disney's first PG-rated animated film, and their first film to use CGI. Had a massive $44 million budget (highest budget for an animated film at the time (1985)).

Sikozu

This is the only correct answer. But also it is genuinely a well made and well acted movie.

Fritz

The format for Lighthouse works perfectly for you. You just need to make your cameras a little smaller and you'd still be able to fit the full movie in-between you two.

John_rd

The lighthouse is sooooo good. If I wasn't for joker it would have cleaned up every award. I didn't realise Robert Patterson could really act until I saw this. Outstanding performance from Willem Defoe too.

Chris

If you do a horror poll please put ,mirrors,on there

Blake Evans

Glengarry Glen Ross has some of the best writing and acting I’ve ever seen! Made me so enthralled with such a mundane subject matter, Real Estate speculation.

Jeromy M

So many fun choices. Man in the Iron Mask and The World's Fastest Indian are childhood favourite..... But tell me yer fond of me lobster!!!!

Life in the cave of Garanoga

We need to promote the Secretary to undo the damage done by 50 shades. Plus it's just a good movie.

Cc Decc

That's a quality grouping, although I fear White Men Can't Jump might run away with it. Or would have once. I was never a huge fan. I'm going to go with Backdraft for entertainment value, although Lighthouse, Glengarry, even Secretary (sexual though) all have things to say. World's Fastest Indian though...that one I'd never even heard of until i just looked it up.

Dan EvilRobot

Yes! Absolutely Love, The lighthouse, it's the most gorgeous looking black and white movie. It reminds me little bit like The Old Dark House (1932).

Mike FromOz

I was really surprised when I watched it. I had no real conception of what it might be about, apart from the raw sexappeal of the poster, but the story was deeper and much more nuanced than just titillation.

Michael M.

I want to watch them watch Secretary for the sheer awkwardness. It is a good movie, though.

paul rai

The Lighthouse is definitely my favorite performances from Pattinson and Defoe. Truly the most unhinged, hilariously bonkers two-hander of a film.

Cc Decc

Oh duh...just realized i had confused The Lighthouse (2019) with The Light Between Oceans (2016) (which to be fair, takes place at a lighthouse), and was confused how a prestige drama was running away with this. But kind of an experimental horror instead. Makes more sense in spooky season.

kasar

Saw lighthouse in theaters with my girlfriend. Sort of empty showing. Random old lady one seat over from my girlfriend as soon as the movie ends "What the fuck was that!?". Incredible movie I hope you guys watch it

Lewis Ward

Glengarry Glen Ross is so incredibly good😔

John Malone

Backdraft and White Men Can’t Jump would be an incredible 90s back to back

JayF

Backdraft is a great film and has a stacked cast. World's Fastest Indian is one of Anthony Hopkins' best and based on a true story. Neither will win from the looks of it so hopefully you'll pick them to watch yourselves.

Nathan Jasper

Honestly, wouldn't be mad about any of these! All great choices

The Gunslinger

You should check out Stardust. It's a very underrated fantasy film with Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Mark Strong among others.

Gus Gustofferson

Genuinely shocked Glengarry isn't way out front. This is the kind of movie reaction channels were made for.

Robert Finlay

I voted for Secretariat, I love horse racing movies.

Dazzler & Em

The Lighthouse😁😁😁😁

Roger Davies

Glengarry Glen Ross. Please ta.

Dirge Girl

W i d o w ' s B a y . . .

Mike S

Hmm 🧐 “the Lighthouse”..really🤯 With the isolation and the sensory overload. Fkn’ hell…It’s suffocating and depressing I got anxiety just thinking about this film again😨 I could also do without the wanking/screaming by Pattinson on a make believe mermaid 🧜‍♀️

Eric Erwin

Forgot Backdraft existed (I know, shame on me). Any of these would be fine though.

Duncan

Was blown away and utterly captivated ,with my first time watch of Worlds Fastest Indian (2005) ,a few years ago ,such a feel good movie 💛💚

Warmachine1228

Since we're on Wesley Snipes might I suggest Passenger 57 and New Jack City.

Duncan

Thanks for making me picture that image in my head 😑

CarolynK

Some future suggestions: Muriel’s Wedding Do the Right Thing The Triplets of Belleville Howl’s Moving Castle

TyWorth

HARRRRRRRRRRRK!

Joel

Glengarry Glen Ross is great. Always be closing still sticks in my head lol

Smooticus

All of these are pretty good choices, but i had to give a vote to Worlds Fastest Indian. An absolute gem of a movie with Anthony Hopkins

Cody

Backdraft!!!!!

FranciscoGios

I heard The Lighthouse is pretty good and you guys have seen the Producer's work before.

Matthew Sablan

Backdraft is SO good! All practical effects!

Amar

Don’t like any of the movies in the last two polls but I don’t care, Coyote v Acme is coming on Sunday!!

Carlos

Would've given it to GGR but it being spooky season, the weirdness of The Lighthouse is a must

Joanthan Skidmore

PLEASE help me get Worlds Fastest Indian to win, or come 2nd... I have been begging for it for ages. The other films are films that other reactors have seen and will be watched on this channel, but no one ever votes for Worlds Fastest Indian. I promise everyone will like or even love it.. it has Anthony Hopkins as the main character... it's a true story and is one of the best feel good movies ever. Please please help me! Ta :)

Joanthan Skidmore

My heart hurts, I've been wanting someone to watch it.. so that other reactors will see it too and the word will spread of how good the film is.... fingers crossed :)

JoeE

Would also recommend sing street, body heat, the night of the hunter, the Maltese falcon

PureGonzo

I’m so excited for The Lighthouse. They seem to have thoroughly enjoyed all of Robert Eggers’ other films, and I have no doubt this one will be no exception. But I also hope Glengarry Glen Ross wins second place so that they’ll get around to that too at some point, because what an absolute showcase for so many legendary actors in one film.

rictus grin

Secretary is a great movie hope it picks up more votes

Jacob King

World’s Fastest Indian is never going to win on the channel but it’s a very heartwarming low stakes movie. I like it because Anthony Hopkins’s character is very like my grandad.

Kelly Pickard

Glengarry Glen Ross is the one I'm really pulling for, but it looks like the Lighthouse is the one that's going to win. 😑 Never understood the appeal of that one. It just felt weird for its own sake.

Paul Mix

+1 on The Fisher King!

TSGroup

It's an absolute masterclass; disappointed (but not surprised) to see the lack of votes.

TSGroup

High Hopes

Chris Graham

As the son of a retired firefighter, Backdraft would freak me out

TSGroup

Good point...and it's a fine film. GGR fans...let's not let it die on the vine. ABC!

TSGroup

Different generation I think.

TSGroup

And please...for the love of god: SUBTITLES!

Daniel Jones

If you watch The Lighthouse, subtitles are extremely encouraged!

I🖤Kraken

Secretary is such a beautiful movie.

UltroningMyJarvis

Secretary is the best one on here, but there’s no way it’s winning lmao.

D.A.V.E.

The world's fastest indian need more love, but the Lighthouse will make a great reaction.

Bill Campbell

Man, sign of the times that Backdraft isn't smoking (ahem) the rest of these.

Opti_Frog

Secretary is absolutely wonderful, but i completely understand why it's so low in the poll. The Lighthouse is a worthy winner. Not as thoroughly entertaining as The Witch imo, but at least until Werwulf comes out it's Egger's second best film.

Opti_Frog

It isn't. It's just based on mythology that you probably have to take a special interest in to know about. I don't want to spoil anything by being specific. 🙂

Opti_Frog

Amazing comment 😄

Nawolith

The Lighthouse! After you watched Nosferatu I cannot wait for your reactions!

Fox

Please react to requiem for a dream , session 9

Matt88g

Good variety in this list, hope they get to most of them

Mike S

Sorry bout that it accidentally slipped out

Russell Richardson

Obligatory “George has seen Secretary” comment😜

Daniel Smith

Never Let Me Go. Way of The Gun. Zero Effect.

SDHero

There are a lot of good movies on here. I don't think The Man in the Iron Mask is the best one, but it is part of one of my main hyper-fixations, so it gets my vote lol.

Shibby

Oof not much to this poll.. I guess The Man in the Iron Mask is decent

StonyD

World's Fastest Indian or White Men Can't Jump.

Kevin

White men can’t jump please! Great movie

Ken

I am surprised at the lack of love for the Worlds Fastest Indian and I am not just saying that simply because I own an Indian, it is genuinely a great film.

G0R0_!ch!B@n25

I still recommend The Sheep Detectives

Doug S.

Secretary for two reasons: I need to know what George has seen, and I'm a big James Spader fan.

funky weapon

The Lighthouse is a fantastic movie and Glengarry Glen Ross is a movie that everyone should see once. I'm so torn.

dansoddity

Yes!!! The Lighthouse!

Nate Gavin

Any chance for Near Dark in the month of October? Lance "Bishop" Henriksen. You guys will love it...

Kyle B

I've seen the lighthouse a couple times now and still can't fully articulate what it's about. Best I got is two guys don't like each other, but here they are, on an island. Stuff gets weird. That said, Robert Eggers may be my favorite director, can't wait for Werwulf

droodly

I hadn't even heard of this movie, so until I googled what it's about, you owning an Indian sounded troubling.

Mikey Sea

Always be closing!!

REDR58

Glengarry Glen Ross is not to be missed!

Brudaski

Yall should watch the movie called chronicle from 2012

Andrew

I don't think Simone will consent to that thumbnail. 🤣

Andrew

Will you go to lunch!?! Go to lunch!

Mike FromOz

George would be taking the Maggie Gyllenhall role in this thumbnail 😁

idc

I've wanted to watch the Lighthouse for ages so I'm not made, but put a pin in Glenngarry Glen Ross because it is full of amazing performances.

Joanthan Skidmore

I own a Yamaha and a Mutt and I still love it :)

Tarmo Knuutinen

Hope The Lighthouse wins, one of my favorite movies ever

REDR58

Not quite all but the vast majority of it is.

REDR58

Um, I think you have a couple of extra legs there…

Dabba King

I know most likely it'll NEVER be on THIS CHANNEL.😒 Which is crazy, but whatever... And i bet they've already seen it by now since +10 polls ago. But if you haven't, can y'all watch JEEPERS CREEPERS already? Its Halloween month and you guys are watching MCU and Anime. 😑 When are you gonna start horror movies? Serious question.......................................

Brandon Meng

Very excited to watch The Lighthouse. Me spewing out a bunch of movies for future polls in hopes something sticks: Perks of Being a Wallflower Manchester by the Sea Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri Sideways The Royal Tenenbaums Forgetting Sarah Marshall About Time Midnight in Paris The Holdovers Love Actually Silver Linings Playbook Blue Valentine 500 Days of Summer Nebraska Love Actually Rushmore Cheers!

Brien

Rounders (Stacked cast)

photos_by_geoff

I literally just last week was wondering if "White Men Can't Jump" would ever come up on a poll!! Too bad it is so far behind.

jsavidge10

...with a small side helping of Goggins, it really is a fun movie. Pairs well with Secondhand Lions (2003).

Logan Nelson

It feels like people base their opinions on shorts of some of these films sometimes...

Max Krause

I think you should watch The Three Musketeers before doing The Man in the Iron Mask, It will hit differently.

Snuggelbum

The World Fastest Indian is a criminally underrated film! i highly recommend people who have not seen this movie to give it a try!

TokyoLopez

throw in Slumdog Millionaire for a random movie poll

Jack Baumann

Im floored that Man in The Iron Mask isn't top 2 fantastic movie.

Cc Decc

I'm not sure its underrated so much as just unknown. I had never heard of it, looked it up, New Zealand film that did something like 19mil worldwide gross? From the description and Hopkins I can almost imagine it being good, but just a real unknown to me.

Chase Schleich

Can you do a poll that's just Backdraft so you can finally watch Backdraft?

Dorsi

need that "osmosis jones"

Matthew Maxon

Backdraft is a good movie. Even the Fire Science is pretty good. Ive seen fires walk ceilings and walls. it is one of the most terrifying and exciting things you can see. Even with all that gear, you can feel the back of your ears be hot. Oh, don't smoke the cigarettes that are in your pocket after the fire. they might be even worse for you with whatever was in the air now in the tobacco.

G P

Best in Show!

Josh

I'm hoping for The Man in the Iron Mask but I doubt it will go through. Such an underrated film and my favourite Leonardo DiCaprio performance

Chad Laurence

Here are my random movie list suggestions besides The Man in the Iron Mask (great movie): Street Kings (2008; Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Chris Evans, Terry Crews, Hugh Laurie, Naomie Harris, and Common). Green Street Hooligans (2008; Elijah Wood, Charlie Hunnam). Phantoms (1998; Ben Affleck, Liev Schreiber, Peter O' Toole). Rockstar (2001; Mark Walberg, Jennifer Aniston). The Ritual (2017; mainly unknowns, the lead actor is also a character in Green Street Hooligans though). Dreamcatcher (2003; Thomas Jane, Damian Lewis, Timothy Olyphant, Jason Lee, Morgan Freeman, Donnie Walhberg, and Tom Sizemore). Fallen (1998; Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Donald Sutherland, James Gandolfini).

BellaBlue

Requests for your consideration: Theme: Pretty recent creepy or creepy adjacent stuff - Heretic (2024) - Talk To Me (2023) - Barbarian (2022) - The Invisible Man (2020) - We're All Going To The World's Fair (2021) - Fear Street Trilogy (2021) - Infinity Pool (2023) - The Night House (2020) - Longlegs (2024) - Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022) - Lamb (2021) - The Black Phone (2021) - Cuckoo (2024) - Late Night With The Devil (2023)

Robert Carter

Not everybody likes horror. I don’t think Simone and George are that fussed about it compared to other genres

Angela D. Mitchell

Yeah, I voted for Secretary, even though I knew it would be futile. :D Such a great little movie and worthy of some incredible conversations. Oh, well! Maybe someday. (And I laughed at "George has seen some of this").

Angela D. Mitchell

I'm also genuinely looking forward to their reactions to the movie as a whole, but also to the conversations they have afterward -- and that take place in our comment section. It's such a great movie and one of the few films that I would argue has a genuinely female-feeling gaze, versus the usual male gaze. It's a much better movie than most people expect, and Maggie Gyllanhaal and James Spader are fantastic.

Deadly Ramon

I was once, around the year 2001 or so, paid to watch The Man in the Iron Mask at work as a reward for having a mere 30 days of perfect attendance. I was even given a drink and popcorn. I liked the movie enough to buy it later on in DVD format, though it was likely from the $5 bin at Walmart. I voted for that film in this poll because of the fond memory it elicits.

Paul Gutierrez

My vote is Glengarry Glen Ross. A great all star cast and a film that has had surprisingly very few reactions. I was very excited to see this on the list. If it doesn’t win I hope you guys consider it on the very near future.

Benny Hubbs

White Men Can't Jump is the best bromance of all time. Hyperbolically speaking.

Rupert Purcat

World's Fastest Indian (2005) Great movie awesome story. Some classics on the list this week, but this one is brilliant.

Mike FromOz

The screenplay was written by a woman, so the way it plays out and happens in the film is very different than if a man had of written it, so you are bang on about the female gaze. It also plays a really subtle game about desire and control. Just like yourself I'd love the discussions after the film and by the community about it.

Dauerempoerungskommentarspaltenkrachmacher

I'm a little disappointed that The World's Fastest Indian isn't getting more love in this poll. It's probably just not well-known enough. I mean, the numbers speak for themselves: the film opened in just 114 theaters in the U.S. on its opening weekend (and only 124 the following weekend), while Ice Age: The Meltdown, which came out a couple of months later, opened in nearly 4,000 theaters. Besides, I don't think the title was particularly well chosen. I wouldn't go see a movie in which Anthony Hopkins tries to play an Indian, either! How are people supposed to know that "Indian" refers to the motorcycle brand? Still, I think Simone and George should watch the movie with us, regardless of the poll results, because: a) It's an interesting movie featuring a great performance by Anthony Hopkins. b) It's based on a true story. c) I think they'll both enjoy it. d) Simply due to its popularity, the film is highly unlikely to win any poll, ever. Nevertheless, a brief analysis of the channels that have covered it suggests that a YouTube reaction will likely reach its target numbers, albeit perhaps a little more slowly. (This is purely speculative, since the channels analyzed are smaller channels and simple scaling does not yield a reliable forecast.) On the other hand, I can think of reasons why they should watch every single movie in this poll. Having a poll that includes only good, very watchable movies seems kinda silly, doesn't it? 😜

Lusoris

lol and I bet no one here wonders about what he has seen 🤷‍♂️

Jaaahn

i mean the guy worked in the porn industry for like years i doubt an R rated film with light bdsm is really as big of a deal as you two giggling behind your hands like schoolgirls seem to think it is...

Ken

Haha, I might have considered how my comment would come across, when I was writing it, if someone wasn't sure what the movie was about. And I decided to stick with the wording anyways, cause English is fun sometimes.

TurnerK

Good poll! Recs: Secondhand Lions, The Drop, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Mortal Kombat 1995, Logan Lucky, Foxcatcher

Fox

You guys ever going to carry on with the latest black mirror seasons?

Logan Nelson

Hoping for Stargate SG-1 after all the Treking is over...

Jason Puhalla

You guys have to do "Best in Show". It has so many of your favorite comedic actors improvising. plus dogs

Jonathan Eaton

Well, it looks like George won't get to see the origin of Simpson's character Gil Gunderson.

Life in the cave of Garanoga

Agreed, I really think it would be a great discussion afterwards on all ends. I have found that many of the topics explored in the film are the kind of ones that people shy away from at first, but once they break that initial wall, which the movie will do, lots of people have lots of opinions about it lol. It's always fascinating to see how people react to this film and what their take aways are. I really hope it gets on the schedule somehow.

Snuggelbum

i dont know about you, but to me underrated can also mean underwatched, so i don't really know what you are trying to say with that. And if the movie is a real unknown to you, then that's precisely why i recommend for people like yourself to give it a try :) it's based on a real story

Todd Warring

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia!!! You can’t just watch one episode it’s so good!!!

Huckleberry lobo

Random recommendations for future consideration: The Witches (1990) The Quick and the Dead (1995) Batteries Not Included (1987) Hackers (1995) Dragonheart (1997) and Peter Jackson's The Frighteners (1996)

Jesse Coombs

Not sure where to post this, but I just finished rewatching your reaction to "Her" and although they are frequent collaborators, it made me think of the Charlie Kaufman movie "Anomalisa". Both share similar feelings and themes. I would love it if y'all would check it out even if it doesn't bring in the views.

Justin Leone

So sad that Glengarry Glenn Ross didn't get more votes. Practically everyone in the cast is a legendary actor, and they all bring their A games to it.

Justin Leone

I was on the set of the Smurfs movie once (visiting my mom, who was working on set), and when it was time to break for lunch, Hank Azaria started saying "Go to lunch! Will you go to lunch?!" in Kevin Spacey's unmistakable cadence. No one else on set reacted to this in any way, and I was so tempted to respond "I DON'T WANNA GO TO LUNCH! WHERE DOES HE GET OFF TALKING LIKE THAT TO A WORKING MAN! GESTAPO TACTICS!". Could have been a bonding moment with Hank Azaria, but I was too timid to start shouting like a maniac on a film set.

jmundt33a

Ooh. Just missed second with Man In the Iron Mask.

Sean Maher

It'd be weird to rewatch it while I'm watching VisionQuest. Hearing Ultron Dom Maggie might cross some wires in my head

Chris Adams

I wish more people knew how great this movie is. I put it up there with 12 Angry Men because the acting carries this film.

Odavin

Kinda disappointing Worlds Fastest Indian didn't do better, it is truly a gem of a movie. Anthony Hopkins stated it was one of his most favorite films to make, I know if movies make it on polls they will eventually get seen so there is hope. Keep up the great work Simone and George we love what you do.

Odavin

Secondhand Lions (2003) is another great feel good movie!

Thomas Young

Shame Worlds fastest Indian didn’t win. I love that movie, and as usual, Anthony Hopkins is great in it.
