I didn't like the 3rd one as much as the 1st two for reasons, but I'd still recommend watching all of them. They are all fun movies despite various inaccuracies. Still fun movies.

With the new JP movie out soon it'd be cool if you continued with the sequels...

The giggle fit at the start is good. The movie is around that level of silly. There will be lots of people who say you should stop after this one, and I totally get that viewpoint. But I love dinosaurs, they are one of my things (Batman, Star Wars, Spider-Man are some of the others). And I just love watching dinosaurs run around and do their thing. The four sequels are incredibly, unbelievably silly, but honestly so is the first one. It is a much better movie with a much tighter script and a more interesting plot. But it’s still very silly. It's the same thing as Star Wars frankly, which people have trouble dealing with. People love to complain about the most recent Star Wars films, calling the scripts, acting and story bad, and that’s fine, but I would also say the first Star Wars also suffers from much of that. I adore the first Star Wars movie, but the script and acting are terrible, and the story is lifted directly from several other sources (Hidden Fortress, etc.).

Regarding the scene when they discover the ship's crew had all been killed and we see just the hand hanging there, the scene is a fragment from an earlier version of the film in which Velociraptors infiltrated the ship and killed everyone on board.

One of the things people always mistake about this film is they think they tried to recreate the magic of the first film. Spielberg knew that you couldn't do this (his Jaws theory that you can only jump scare the audience once) and he instead made a film where the hero KNEW what would happen the moment he went to the island. It's meant to be more of an action film than the first. Much like Aliens was an action film where Alien was a horror movie, this was a very good sequel to the original ... just not what people expected when they went to the theater to see it, I think.

I agree. Yes, the intrigue and wonder was gone with the first film. Any sequel to Jurassic Park was destined to take a back seat. I thought the T-Rex let loose in the city was fun. Was it necessary? No, but I had a good time when I saw it in theaters. People were laughing and screaming. And you can’t tell me a lot of us were not wondering what would happened if a dinosaur made it back to the mainland. Spielberg showed that to us and afterward critics ripped into it (pun intended). Okay yeah, we could have done without the gymnastics gag. And I resent the comparison to “Speed 2” (LOL) though it was a great reaction.

Jurassic Park was excellent - an amazing film. The Lost World is mediocre to bad. Jurassic Park 3 is much worse, it's just a two hour chase scene. Trust me, after the first film the entire franchise is skippable. What's amazing about The Lost World is that Crichton's sequel to Jurassic Park was actually pretty good, but they used almost none of the plot from the book and instead made... this. Not sure what Spielberg was thinking.

the reason it seems longer is because in the 1st one, the "scare" didn't happen until halfway thru the film. Here, it started just after getting to the island. it's funny the camparison to SPEED 2, both movies released in 1997 haha. the question about how the ship crew died...movie didn't do good job of explaining, i watched this movies for so many years before picking up what happened. When the Rex was aboard and sailing to the main land, they gave it the wrong dosage which made it go berserk killing everyone. the bay doors where either opened or damaged allowing the rex to walk out on the top deck and kill the crew. if you look at the ship from it's Ariel view, it's all flat except the cabin. rex would have easy access to everyone. then some point it made it back down into the cargo hold and the "dead" crew member with hand on "button" before he died must've closed the bay doors. the movie should have done a better job of explaining that, but didn't. i was confused over the same thing you guys were for years.

i mean, im not as critical of campy sequels, but i will agree with you on the book adaptation. Could you imagine the movies if they were adapted closer to the books?? the lost world book was incredible.

I mistakenly thought this was the Chris Pratt one, Jurassic World, I remember not liking the earlier sequels to Jurassic Park, but I'm glad I watched it again, it wasn't that bad, and the laughs from the "Cineminge" intro was worth it alone lol made my day

sarah and Vince Vaughn Character were so stupid to bring the TRex baby to the camper plus to take the bullets out of the hunters rifle , where do these idiots think they are ? Also the dummy that wore headphones on in an area that has man eating dinosaurs . some of the characters especially Sarah and Vince are so stupid its cringe worthy

Great reaction. This movie is not as great as the first one but its still pretty good. If you want to see another great movie with dinosaurs I recommend watching Peter Jackson's King Kong (2005). He made it just after the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Its one of my favorite movies of all time.
