Gah, I love this movie. So often you get thrillers that are taut only because they're simple or convoluted due to attempts at being complex... but this one manages to be complex and yet taut. Really well written and acted, and the script knows when to pivot into the next major story development. Also, BRAVO Simone for calling the cook for what he was when he was first shown. The director himself thought that moment was a little too subtle.

Why do patreons subscribed at the 4.50 tier not receive the same benefits as the 3.50 tier. Please explain

golfextreme

Another really fun McTiernan movie is his remake of The Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. It's a great cat-and-mouse theft movie.

Cinebinge

The 3.50 USD Tier is a sort of early bird Tier limited at 15 seats; and is a discounted version of the 7 USD (Binger on the Wall) Tier. On the Tier page there should be a "See all 5 levels" button that shows all the tiers, including the two that is above the 4.50 USD tier.

I don’t remember liking this movie, but with you guys, I could be more enjoyable

Some movies just have a certain "feel" about them that makes them great. This one is so, in my eyes. For other McTiernan movies there are: "The 13th warrior", "Die Hard: With a Vengeance" (Die Hard #3) & maybe "Medicine Man". The last one is probably not of a "reaction type movie", but hey, I like it :) LOL

Ironclad Nomad

The 13th Warrior is definitely another Manly McTiernan flick, lol

The best Hat Trick in Action Cinema: Predator ('87), Die Hard ('88), and Hunt for Red October ('90)...all in a row, all McTiernan. A brilliant filmmaker.

"What's 26 knots in kilometers?" A knot of speed is a nautical mile per hour ... a nautical mile being 6000 feet as opposed to 5280 feet (statute mile) .... 15,600 feet per hour or about 48km/hr /military geek

Texas Anla'Shok

This was also thirty years ago. Back then it may have been subtle, but since then has almost become a cliche.

Texas Anla'Shok

This is one of my two favorite Sean Connery roles, the other being Professor Henry Jones in “The Last Crusade”, and they are completely different. There he was intelligent, but sort of bubbling around, completely out of his element, and here he’s so competent he can formulate course changes in his head, is always a step ahead of even his own crew, and can catch his mug without looking.

If you guys would like another high stakes sub movie without as much of the technical side to it, I’d definitely recommend watching “Crimson Tide”. I think you’d both enjoy it.

Emmet Farrell

For submarines, one of the absolute best is Das Boot. Epic.
