One thing I've read is that the green ghost was made to be John Belucci's ghost, he was to be one of the Ghostbusters, but had passed away before filming

Ghost Busters 2 was just fine; but lightning doesn't strike twice always. The women Ghostbusters was just fine the women were great; They did a great job each oneofthem. GhostBusters Afterlife needed a better musical Score, kept dying here and there.

Surprisingly, the menstruation question that Dr. Venman asks the librarian isn't sexist at all. Paranormal Investigators and Parapsychologists have long noticed an increase in paranormal phenomena, especially poltergeist activity, during a woman's menstrual cycle. The correlation is especially noticeable in pubescent girls. To the point where whenever poltergeist activity is reported, there is an immediate assumption of the presence of an 11-16 yr old girl in the house.

So I watched your Monty Python react video and enjoyed it. I saw that you did Ghostbusters and thought "this is a perfect reason to watch Ghostbusters again." So I joined and started watching. I get to the dream sequence and thought, "I've never known who played the ghost in this scene, I wonder if they got someone known." I looked it up and found her. She was an actor and a model and she died...ONE YEAR AGO TODAY!

"Buried the needle" The best example is the meter on a car. Despite it clearly being labeled the "needle" is normally able to go over the last line. Like a beyond maximum shown. That is burying the needle.

Rick Moranis ad-libbed the accountancy monologue at his party, and the monologue about Gozer's previous forms.

The question on the Mayor's authority--the mayor would have to contact the governor, who would then call in the National Guard. He could also declare a "state of emergency" that would bring in other volunteer agencies, depending on what type of emergency it is. Most of the time its weather related when this happens.

and its quality intros like that as to why I find myself here lol

The Inedible Mattman!

OMG Yes! This is my favorite movie of all time and I'm so happy you watched it!!! Yes, please watch Ghostbusters II and Ghostbusters Afterlife. They're basically a trilogy of films. VERY much so worth it. And yes, the new movie Afterlife is directed and written by Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan (this film's director). :)

The Inedible Mattman!

BTW ... this film has one of the BEST audio commentaries from the DVD of all time. It's Ivan Reitman, Harold Ramis, and producer Joe Medjuk. They tell some of the BEST stories I've ever heard from a DVD commentary. If you both can handle seeing the movie again, I highly suggest you snag a copy of a DVD and watch it with the commentary. Totally worth it.

I agree, it ranks up there with Bruce Campbell doing a solo one on Evil Dead. “We lose most of the female audience right about….now.”

The Maestro

I really like the second GhostBusters but I haven't seen it in a long time and I've heard it doesn't hold up as well and I've heard good things about the newest one but haven't had the chance to see it yet. I'm surprised you'd never seen these movies before

JediLounger

You guys missed most of the Twinkie joke! lol Edit: if you guys want more of the EPA guy, put Real Genius on the list.

Great reaction! 100% you should watch the sequel and Afterlife

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

Yes, you should watch Ghostbusters 2 and then Ghostbusters Afterlife which are direct sequels. The 2016 version as others said, you can watch to give your own opinion as it is a complete reboot and I hoped it would be good but I felt at the end that they didn't do justice to the female characters and it was supposed to have good women characters but they seriously didn't think it well

Christopher Greenley

Just watched Ghostbusters Afterlife. Totally awesome. So was actress McKenna Grace. Looking forward to seeing more of her in more films in the future. Maybe a sequel to Afterlife. Stay tuned!😎

Simone, you have to show George who Steve Urkel is !

David W Richards

You CANNOT claim to be a fully culturally literate North American until you've experienced the ABSOLUTE HILARITY of Jaleel White's alter-ego Steve Urkel.

The main problem with 2016 was that Paul Feig pointed the camera and said "improvise" that doesnt work for a comedy. + Ghostbusters 1984 wasnt a comedy. Its seen as a comedy today, but it took the ghosts and the material serious at any point. Dan believes in paranormal stuff so he wanted it to be a straight movie and the comedy resulting in the chemesty of the actors.

The all-female Ghostbusters reboot was really good. It was hated by purists who wanted Bill Murray and the rest back. It was hated by people who hate the idea of replacing men with women.

Rumpus Parable

Ghostbusters II is worth the watch. It doesn't hit this movie's level, but it's a really fun sequel. IMO, it'd be pretty hard to match up to this for a first film, period. Some things that you and others may find nifty if y'all don't know (oh, and a coupla answers on questions raised that I am seeing more often as time goes on): The Zener card gag in the beginning where the guy gets zapped no matter what.. I've never heard anyone else point it out or answer me when I ask if someone else caught it but, you know how Venkman stared at the + card when she said "figure 8" extra long and then made a big thing of her getting it right, not cheating, yada? The Zener deck doesn't *have* a figure 8 option. The two subjects would've been told the images on the cards beforehand that would be randomly pulled. So he didn't just have to lie about who got it wrong or right he had to be extra over the top to distract from the fact the blond he didn't want to shock had just guessed something that wasn't even an option for the two test subjects. ------- During the egg cooking scene on the left beside them Dana sets down a package of Stay-Puft Marshmallows as part of the setup for later - and no, not a real brand. The eggs scene was done exactly how it looked: the counter top heated up until the eggs exploded and cooked. -------- "Bury the needle" means like when you've a meter that runs from 0 to 100 and the reading is so high it goes beyond the 100 line. The "needle" is deeper than the "ground/floor" of the marking point on the meter. --------- The thing in the Central Park restaurant where Lewis gets attacked and no one cares is an old joke about NYC. It's there but nothing as strong as the reference period of this movie where people in NYC were considered to not give an F about each other and if something bad was seen happen the rule was "I didn't see anything". The joke was they saw and heard what was happening to Lewis, NYCers just don't care about what happens to others and go on with their lives. ________ Towards end you mentioned that the "sorry" sounded Canadian - it was being said by Dan Aykroyd (Ray) who is from Canada originally and had only moved away a few years before this movie. -------- Shaving cream was the "marshamallow" on the Ghostbusters and others after the explosion.... the actor who played Peck and got shavingcream-marshmallow dumped on him had to argue his way out of getting about twice the weight of what was used.... he insisted they do a test run on a stunt double before they did the planned amount on him; as said he ended up getting hit with about half of what they'd intended after that test. ----------

I laughed when you both reacted to the big hand sculpture in Dana's apartment. So 80s. Big, weird, statement pieces on tables are in so many old 80s movies. It was high art back then.

Jack Burton

Ghostbusters 2 should be reacted to. You guys will love it. More of the same. Not as classic but just as fun.
