The Mandalorian Season 1: Episode 5 - 6 - Patreon Version

Pamela Hofman

The "trash can" droids resemble the droids from a 1970s sci-fi movie called "Silent Runnings" starring Bruce Dern. Lots of people from my generation loved seeing them as a callback when they first showed up in "A New Hope."

Ming-na Wen came to Western prominence by starring in the hit "The Joy Luck Club" 5 years before voicing Mulan.

I'm making my way through your Mandalorian reactions so sorry for commenting on an old post. The Bill Burr cartoon Simone mentioned is 'F Is For Family'. It is a lot of fun and I hope someday you'll react to it... if you haven't already seen it on your own in the last three years. I think it is very loosely based on Bill Burr's childhood. He also co-created it.

You guys should just roll into season 2 when you are done. It keeps up the pace and is still good.

Jon Johns

The woman in the hanger is actress Amy Sedaris https://g.co/kgs/PnRh43 (so beautiful, and hilarious.) Mando pulled the bag of coins from that dead bounty hunter. Bill Burr is hilarious! Interesting story behind choosing him to be in this series. Yes, the Twileck (sp?) Girl is Tonks from Harry Potter. The big horned guy is in Shawshank redemption as the big guard.

Also the 1 humanoid soldier on the prison barge is the voice actor that plays Anakin Skywalker in the series Clone Wars. Plus Ming-Na was in Marvel's Agents of Shield and many other things.

Florian Hoyer

the money, the purse was from the boy he just shot xD theys showed him taking it xD

Florian Hoyer

mandalorian aint a race its a creed. and mandalor got destroyed and mandalors are super rare now since mandalor is destroyed

John A

The big horned guy as you put it is a Devaronian and played by Clancy Brown (yes from Shawshank) :)

The trashcan robots are mainly generator droids. I'm sure they can be fitted to do diffrent jobs but being a walking generator is their main purpose. In some of the Star Wars games they are ammo dispensers.

The aimlessness of this show is my biggest issue with it. The callbacks and the cameos are cool, and I like the new characters. But after two seasons I couldn't tell you what the primary story is.

POSTALMNDCLARITY

I disagree. The primary story, currently, is Mando trying to find a safe place. Everybody is after them and he wants to find a place where the child will be safe. I feel like the story and progression is solid. I mean, yeah, they tend to take the long way 'round sometimes but its trying to be entertaining while also appealing to people who have absolutely NO knowledge of Star Wars. The 2nd season is even more plot focused, in my opinion.

POSTALMNDCLARITY

Every time these end, I immediately want the next ones. I'm very impatient! LOL

The pilot droid was Richard Ayoade, British TV's Travel Man and star of The IT Crowd

One of the best things I love about episode 5 is the way it sets up Fennec. We see her hold her own (granted in a tactically flawed setup) and then see Mando respect her by having her cuff herself instead of closing the distance to do it himself. It instantly builds respect for both characters. Fennec because Mando automatically knows she's a major threat and Mando himself because he's intelligent enough to recognize it. This is how you effectively 'sell' a story without undermining any of the characters.
