I wrote a paper on this movie in my film theory class. This movie is, entirely by accident, the MOST Freudian film of all time. Bonus points if anyone who reads this can guess why without jumping immediately to The Oedipus Complex (because that's totally the ONLY thing Freud ever talked about for the decades he practiced psychoanalysis).

ExtraBigAssTaco

A maybe lesser known Wesley Snipes movie that I enjoyed was Murder at 1600, where he investigates a murder at the White House.

I remember when this movie came out, it was advertised as an action extravaganza, and it is I guess. But it’s real strength is the satire, and how unbelievably prescient it is. The jokes still land, and the satire is still relevant almost 30 years later. The action generally holds up, it gets there. Still early in the movie, and you guys are already calling out parts of the action that are silly.

Michael Lynch

Oh snap! It's a blast from the past. Love Stallone and Snipes. And you get an early Sandra Bullock as well. Man I loved this in the theater.

JediLounger

I’m glad you guys enjoyed the movie. In terms of more Stallone and Snipes. Stallone: Cliffhanger (1993) is a more traditional Stallone movie, but really solid 90s action. Another one is Daylight (1996) That’s sort of half and half, traditional action but he’s in a not traditional role. And then we have Copland (1997), which Stallone really throws himself into that role. You guys would love it, and it has a great cast other than Stallone. Snipes: Blade(1998). Blade is very awesome. I like them all, but Blade 3 is not well liked. It is a very goofy movie to be sure, and I found the best part to be the comedy. To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar is absolutely hysterical. Simone would lose her mind watching this. New Jack City is awesome, it launched his career. He was known prior to it, but this movie made people sit up and take notice. White Men Can’t Jump is pretty fun, comedy/sports movie. Also the first Major League, another comedy/sports. Rising Sun is also pretty good, crime/drama. There are others that are not bad per say, but I don’t know if they are worth doing a reaction to. They might be worth watching on your own though to get more 90s action experience.

wroot

All your guesses are so close to another Stallone movie :D

Githerax

Simone: "I want to play Portal 2, but I can't afford it." Gamer: "But it's only $9.99 on Steam" Simone: "No, the speech morality penalties..." Gamer: "....Oh." EDIT: "No chocolate" to be fair, it would reduce slavery, since chocolate is produced from child slave labor. Have a nice day.

Michael_AP

I can only occur that first watch "Blade" and then get totally taken off guard by "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar". In the last one you get 3 action actors and.... well you'll be surprised :)

olly.enn

There are three sea shells in Vs bathroom in Cyberpunk 2077 ... :-)

wroot

They talked about Spartan's daughter in the car on a way back from Pizza Hut

Einherj

Snipes plays Blade in Blade (1998).

Mike Adams

There's always Tango and Cash :)

Monica Alarcon

Weird... I got the Pizza Hut version instead of Taco Bell...

Kevin

Wow, i just seen the name Jack Black in the end credits, i thought, THE Jack Black? Yes, apparently Jack Black is in the movie. When Spartan was underground and met the leader, one of the goons with that leader was Jack Black

JayF

So for Snipes I'd suggest watching The Fugitive (which he is not in) which is a great movie. Then you can watch the sequel US Marshals which he is in. For Stallone I'd suggest Victory (yes, a soccer/WWII POW movie), Tango & Cash (Simone eye candy action movie), Nighthawks (police crime thriller), and Cop Land (one of his best performances).

James Quinn

Y’all need to watch the Kevin Smith comedy- MALLRATS! I’ve seen ppl do CLERKS and just quit not even making it to J&S.Bob strike back or CLERKS2... they’re all worth a look, but Mallrats has some great comic book references that have NEVER been more relevant than now! Also, it has a surprise cameo by Stan Lee waaaay before all his MCU cameos. Call it a spoiler if you want, but I’m trying to give a bonus reason for ppl to WATCH THE F*K*N’ thing!!! Plus it’s rilly funny 😄

A Frogpants shout out! Noice! George: The WoW podcast you're probably thinking about is The Instance. And unfortunately, you are incorrect that it's still going. As of about 2 or 3 weeks ago they ended their many-years run on episode 666 (which is an insane number for a show that runs weekly). After all the stuff that happened with Blizzard, Scott Johnson just didn't feel like playing WoW much anymore and therefore didn't really have a lot to talk about in general on that podcast. Though he is still looking forward to Diablo 4. He's still doing The Morning Stream, Filmsack, Core (now just a general gaming podcast and not dedicated to Heroes of the Storm). He started up a new podcast about Retro video games as well, called Play Retro.

One of my favorite non-Rocky franchise Stallone films ( The Rocky films Trump everything!). This was most people's introduction to Sandra Bullock, as she would catapult to real stardom about half a year later with Speed in 1994. There was a ton of content edited out from the final version, one of the main things cut out was a storyline with John Spartan's now grown up daughter, who is part of Edgar Friendly's group. Even though they edited out the daughter storyline scenes, she is still seen in several shots, particularly standing by Friendly at the end.

Erik Lundmark

I ended up watching the "Pizza Hut" version, I hope someone went to jail for that atrocity... Glad you guys watched the un-dubbed version. But man this is such a Great Action-Comedy, even after watching it 15+ times now, I still remember when I picked it up a VHS copy. So sad movies like this will never ever bee made again.

Ian Forbes

Another fun Stallone film is Tango & Cash, where he joins forces with Kurt Russell. I think you both would really enjoy it!

Cinebinge

George: i am gonna reinstall after i get home just to take a screenshot of it with V.

Cinebinge

oh damn.. thats sad to hear but makes sense. i use to love the instance. i need to find time to go back to TMS again.

Tim Pierce

You can imagine that when this movie came out, Taco Bell went nuts with the sponsorship of it.

Green Nolan

I guess I'm the first to suggest "white men can't jump" Wesley snipes, Rosie Perez and a young woody harrelson I think you both would like it

Green Nolan

Definitely my favorite Wesley snipes performance

Tim Pierce

You want to see a great outside-the-box 90s action movie? Check out Last Action Hero with Arnold.

Githerax

I thought you were joking but yeah, the everyone's lips say 'Taco Bell' but there's voice-over that says Pizza Hut on mine :D From a site: "Taco Bell is an integral part of Demolition Man's legacy in the U.S., but in European markets, it was replaced by Pizza Hut. Both companies were owned by PepsiCo at the time. Conventional wisdom holds that Pizza Hut became the Franchise Wars winner in Europe because it had a greater international presence."

geddydisciple

It would be pretty fun to watch you guys react to Over the Top which is a very unconventional Stallone film or Judge Dread which is a very conventional Stallone film.

Gary Fixler

Random trivia: the movie is about a future dystopia, and Stallone and Bullock play John Spartan and Lenina Huxley, who share first names with the main characters in the 1932 dystopian novel, "Brave New World," by Aldous Huxley. This movie came out while I was in high school, and we had just read BNW a year or two before, so all through the movie in the theater I was saying "Waaait a minute..."

MacGuffinStuff

Stallone/Snipes suggests? I got for Stallone; all the other Rocky movies obviously, Copland, Tango and Cash, Nighthawks, in reverse order though, because I remembered them that way lol. For Snipes: in chronological order this time, Wildcats*, Major League, White Men Can't Jump* (not a fact, but an entertaining movie lol), and of course as Blade, badass sort of side character in the Marvel universe. * Woody Harrelson was in two movies with Wesley Snipes, one in which they were both small roles and then again when Spike Lee cast them together as leads

Drew Acheson

For another Stallone movie, you should watch Judge Dredd. The one from the 90s, not the remake, although that one is pretty good too.

Prof. Writhms

Woody is in 3 movies with Wesley. You left out, they were both leads in "Money Train" (1995) 😉

Charlie Keeler

Italian Stallion was a soft core film Stallone did pre Rocky days

Adam B

Major League is an early Wesley Snipes film that is really great.

Huckleberry lobo

If you guys enjoyed Demolition Man you'll love Last Action Hero starring Arnie & Big Trouble in Little China with Kurt Russell.

Gryff

Simone doesn't know how to use the three sea shells! HAHAHAHAHA!

Jeff Smith

George it was fun to watch how you react to this movie, many movies I think you would both enjoy if you hadn't reacted to is Ready Player One, the movie will get you because deals with online gaming. Watched once and bought that same day for my online library - here another oldy Anti-Trust about programmer and a Bill Gates type character and hacking, a good one to watch

Kate Suhr

Wesley Snipes was great in the blade movies as well as played a detective in Money Train along with Woody Harrelson.

TuvixLogic

George, I have to say when you where naming lower regions and said "Rocky" and then "Southpaw" omg I was on the ground laughing.

Tanx

lol I saw this movie twice in theaters and several times since and this was the first time I actually noticed Jack Black behind Dennis Leary in the underground scenes. I always wished they had made a sequel and a prequel to this movie. would love to see the downfall after the quake and then a sequel dealing with them changing to a more balanced society with cops being trained to actually deal with violence and new criminals popping up.
