Highly recommend the Spaced tv series also by Edgar Wright, Sean Pegg, and Nick Frost. Only 2 short seasons.

There's so much amazing foreshadowing in this film. When you rewatch you pick up on it constantly. I know you caught "the next time I see him, he's dead" but it's peppered with that stuff. Pete tells Ed to go live in the shed and that's where he ends up. That plus all the nods to old school zombie films are just great. It was awesome how quickly you picked up on the social commentary they were making. Definitely check the rest of the trilogy. I like Hot Fuzz even more than this one, personally.

Y'all should watch this again, now that you've seen "Night of the Living Dead" so you can catch all the references.

Thomas Yanez

Now I need to wait patiently for uncovered versions of the rest of the "trilogy".

You guys have to react to Return of The Living Dead, John Russo co-wrote NOTLD, got rights from Romero to make his own thing. The first running zombies ever, and a whole lot more. I always watch this movie on or around Halloween, it's a party and one of my favorite crazy 80s movies.

Oh man, this movie really is an Easter egg hunt for old school zombie fans. So many call backs to Romero and Lucio Fulci movies (including that the restaurant Shaun is supposed to make reservations for is called Fulci's lol, the store Shaun works at is called Foree's, after Ken Foree, star of Romero's Dawn of the Dead, etc.). Back when I first became a patron I recommended to you guys"Spaced", which is the British show that Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost worked on (and Jessica Stephenson, who played Yvonne in this), but in retrospect I'd recommend if you do watch it, wait, it's so full of pop culture references it would be better appreciated AFTER you guys have seen more movies. Anyway, can't wait for the rest of the Cornetto Trilogy, I think you'll really like all of them, I have my favorite but they're all good in my opinion!

For sure watch the other two. If you want more Bill Nighy, he’s awesome in Underworld (2003). If you watch that, go for the unrated cut. Those movies are very strange, there are currently five. Simultaneously worth it and not, but I like the first one. They might be good for Cinecringe George. Another series I stumbled into recently on a rewatch is Kingsman (2014) it’s also uneven but would make great reactions since it’s just so bonkers. Currently there are three movies, first movie (2014), sequel (2017) and a prequel (2021). Also if you want to a more traditional zombie movie, World War Z (2013) is awesome. I’ve seen most good zombie movies made in the last 50 years, and we can discuss those all day, but they generally do the same thing. A group of survivors in a location trying to deal with the situation. WWZ approaches the idea differently, and it deserves credit for that. I wish it was titled something else though and not attached to the excellent book, as they have nothing to do with each other. I view them as separate entities, so I like them both.

Pleeeese add the other 2 movies in the Cornetto Trilogy to the List :-) * Shaun of the Dead (2004) ** Hot Fuzz (2007) *** The World's End (2013)

Can't wait to watch this. If you want to see more zombie movies I recommend the classics directed by George A. Romero. Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985).

Pleeeese d the other 2 movies in the Cornetto Trilogy

Yes! especially Hot Fuzz. Edgar is on my short list of must see films whenever they have a new project.

The whole 'Cornetto trilogy' thing is just an off-the-cuff joke by the writers, sort of teasing the media about how everything's got to be a trilogy. They just had 3 movie ideas and pretend it's a trilogy: "The name originates from a "silly joke" during the promotion of Hot Fuzz.[11] Wright had written in Cornetto ice cream as a hangover cure for Frost's character in Shaun of the Dead, based on his own experiences. At the after party for the film, they received free Cornetto ice creams so Wright and Pegg decided to include another reference to Cornetto in their next film in a failed attempt to get more free ice cream.[12] In Hot Fuzz, Wright included a couple of brief throwaway scenes that referred to the Cornetto joke in Shaun. On the promotional tour of Hot Fuzz during production of The World's End, one interviewer pointed out the use of Cornetto in the first two films, and Wright jokingly said that they represent a trilogy comparable to Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colours film trilogy." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Flavours_Cornetto_trilogy

Another great film these two did is "Paul" Great reaction guys

Charlie Keeler

Also highly recommend watching the tv series Spaced. Perhaps on your own. Idk if there would be much interest from a watch along perspective

King_Panarisi

Since Simone seems to hate zombies i think it fits to have you guys watch The Walking Dead huh?

Monica Alarcon

I agree with the comments... after the cornetto trilogy you should watch Paul

JLee

“I don’t do well with zombies” says the person wearing a Mollymauk shirt… 😜

Trivia: the music during the opening that sounded "alien" to you was actually incidental music from the 1978 Dawn of the Dead. In that version, the music comes in at around 29 minutes (based on the full film apparently uploaded to YouTube). The piece is called "Figment" by Simon Park. You can also find the song on YouTube.

JarHead0351

Don't forget the movie "Paul" they are also together in that movie too - it is a sc-fi comedy - Great movie and glad you picked this one, haven't watched it a while - enjoy you both with your reaction to the movie

Gary Fixler

Also just got to the part right after that where Geoge said "Imagine getting up and the first thing you drink is Diet Coke." Lol! That's been the first (and only) thing I drink every day for probably 25 years. My cells are mostly made of Diet Coke molecules now.

David RedEagle

Man anything with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is just hilarious.

Jennifer Tremblay

Love Simon Pegg! You guys should see A Fantastic Fear of Everything! I don't think it's well known, but it's a fantastic Simon Pegg film. Also Man Up, Man Up is a good film.

JoeySnowyNoey

You guys gotta see Hot Fuzz now! It's my favorite Edgar Right film, and one of my favorite movies of all time. Also, I think they are sampling sirens in the score, and that's why you hear it all the time.

Chris_The_Gray

Easter Egg: Just about anything Ed says to Barbara is lifted from George Romero's Dawn of the Dead.
