Which one of these is not like the other? Austin Powers is a complete comedy. Funny, but definitely not action.

Toc

"Close Encounters" all the way, but I'll watch you guys do "The Untouchables" or "Grand Budapest Hotel" .

Marko T.

I voted Austin Powers and Casino Royale. The Fugitive is great too.

JayF

I voted for all the older movies (90s or older). They are all great movies that you should eventually react to.

FoH Film Club

So many must see films if you truly have never seen them, Close Encounters has to be a definite watch, probably Fugitive next (both were/are cultural touchstones) . Personally not a big fan of Wes Anderson but Grand Budapest is very good. The only “skip” on the list is Kingsman imo, it’s fun but unnecessary 😆

Kripke's Corner

I'd love to see these movies on this "Big Movies" list: Braveheart, Poltergeist, James Camaron's Avatar, Die Hard 2, Waterworld, Willow, Stargate... :D

David Sumner

Best movie to watch, Roadhouse!

Rick Runge

Dances with Wolves is one of the all time best "epic westerns" ever. Also one of the best movies ever. It always brings me to tears.

Tyler Foster

Huh. Would not have expected Austin Powers to be dominating this poll. Good movie and all, but even with it being the most popular I'm surprised it's winning so decisively. Kind of a shame, too, because it's the second-least interesting movie here (which, again, is not a slam against it, it's just, this is a great list of movies).

JayF

I'd have liked to have seen Mission Impossible on this list as that franchise is far superior to the more recent Bond films IMO. Please consider adding it to future polls if you've not both already seen it.

Kameron Webb

Had to go with The Grand Budapest as that movie caught me off guard in the best way.

slashmastah

So are we going to see Shaolin Soccer anytime within the next few years? :P

John Doe

The Grand Budapest Hotel might be the most beautiful film (in terms of both cinematography and story) I've seen. I hope you react to it sometime.

Florian Hoyer

the two kingsman movies are masterpieces

Gary Trousdale

Dances With Wolves is pretty good, but for my money, Little Big Man is the best western out there.

mojo shivers

Austin Powers is cool and all. but Grand Budapest Hotel is a masterpiece of a film. It’s like comparing apples and the Mona Lisa—not even in the same category.

Paulies83

Grand Budapest Hotel and The Untouchables, for me, by a considerable distance!

Bill Pearson

Dances With Wolves won 7 Oscars. It won best picture, best director, Kevin Costner, best writing/ screenplay, best musical score, best sound and best cinematography to name some of the awards. Kevin Costner best role in my opinion. It is a movie you likely won’t forget.

Adam Wetstein

Big James Bondsque voting pattern

Bill Pearson

Not sure what you mean, Githerax. Kostner never hosted SNL nor was he a member of the SNL cast.

Haye Zeus

I only voted for Austin Powers and Shaolin Soccer. Both movies with the most and least votes atm. I feel so overrated and undervalued at the same time.

ChickensAreRacist

Eventually Perhaps. Wow tho I’d love to see your reactions to Dances with Wolves.

Amy Silknitter

How are more people not voting for The Fugitive?? It’s such a great movie.

Sammy Rebbo

I really liked Austin Powers back in 97 when it came out but I watched it when it was on Netflix one time and I couldn't even get to the half way point. Maybe I should give it another shot sometime just to see if that day was not a day for Austin Powers XD

E.P.B.F.

Okay, time for a bit of an out of the box suggestion(s): art themed historicals. My candidates would be 1) Amadeus. Great Music (naturally), and F. Murray Abraham at his arguable prime steals the show. 2) Marat/Sade (1967). Wickedly sharp play and a _superb_ cast and performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company with a young Ian Richardson as co-lead. Also Glenda Jackson surprised the heck out of me with how good a singer she was. [https://youtu.be/k6V2SIPL59A?t=4110]

Joits

Yes!!! Austin Powers baby!

Jarrod Mitchell

What world are we living in where Austin Powers beats Dances With Wolves 3:1?

Bill Pearson

Dances With Wolves made how $442 million dollars at the box office in 1990. Apparently someone liked it back then. To see what passes off as movies these days and then say the storytelling of Dances With Wolves is weak and derivative smacks of of a critique that is weak and derivative. What Costner created in his film career after Dances With Wolves is irrelevant to what the quality of Dances With Wolves is. Why the effort some people are using to denigrate Dances With Wolves make me wonder what their motivation is. The most memorable movies don’t just entertain, but make people feel, think and open their minds to new and different ways to view the world and all existence, but that maybe is just me and a few others that believe that.

BH

Grand Budapest Hotel is so good and so funny. I hope you guys watch it regardless at some point

Githerax

I'm going to suggest a double feature again here, George. Before you watch Austin Powers, watch the James Bond movie 'Thunderball'. It'll inform some of the in-jokes.

Marko T.

I have few suggestions for future polls: Predator 2, Alien 3 and Naked Gun 2.

Zeke

So many good movies and Austin Powers is winning? Ugh. Please throw these on a future poll: Breaking Away VisionQuest The Final Countdown Kelly's Heroes American Flyers The Man From Snowy River Witness Cold Mountain Time After Time Rudy Clue The Last Unicorn Thanks.

Zeke

One more please, Big Night

Bill Pearson

How about A Few Good Men and Field of Dreams?

nossieboy

Shame about Shaolin Soccer not getting more love. It's just as funny as Kung Fu Hustle.

Tyler Foster

Well, Fugitive at least tied Kingsman.

Torsten Maekler

A suggestion for CineCringe: Komodo (from 1999) - They tried to swim on the "Jurassic Park" wave... with very, very, very little success :-)

Torsten Maekler

And some for CineBinge :-) 500 Days of Summer (its kind of a Love Story Musical with Zooey Deschanel & Joseph Gordon-Lewitt from 2009) An American Werewolf in London (1981) Night at the Museum (Ben Stiller, 2006) The Full Monty (Robert Carlyle, 1997)

Jonathan_Room 237

Austin Powers winning over Close Encounters? What?!!

James Quinn

I am Cecil B Demented, and this picture is TERMINATED! (bang!)

Githerax

George, you mentioned Fox movies are easy to work on, how about 'Mrs. Doubtfire' on the list?

Pajander

Just some random suggestions: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Låt den rätte komma in, Eraserhead.

Ravenlay

You guys ever see School of Rock? Comedy. Absolute classic Jack Black movie.
