I love watching old movies like this because it gives you a good idea of what the aesthetic was back then and how different the technology was.

BubblyRainbows

I watched this using the Director's Cut because I couldn't find our regular version on DVD. And in doing so, I realized that the entire added runtime for the Director's Cut is only about a minute and a half. I think that's the smallest amount of added footage I've ever seen in a special edition.

Vernon Wells was the mohawk psycho in Mad Max 2. Sully played by David Patrick Kelly was iconic in The Warriors and also played T Bird in The Crow.

David Lonewolf Wright

Look for the sequel, Commando 2: Really Going Commando This Time.

Erwin Quiachon

Going "commando" is something that military commandos claimed for years. It's not a requirement of being a commando. It's just something they did to demonstrate how "rugged" they are. Not practical for combat, but believe what you want. The last thing you want during combat is the distraction of fealing your balls swinging wildly.

Jeff Wolff

The first time I heard the term “going commando” was on the TV show Friends which was way after this movie was made

Torsten Maekler

A Helicopter transfers air from above the rotor to below the rotor. So no way it could suck you upwards. Most likely that one wanted to scare you, Simone.

Patrick Evans

You should do Universal Solder. It has both Jean-Claude van Damme and Dolph Lundgern.

JediLounger

More action movies for you guys. Beverly Hills Cop (1984) Top Gun (1986) Bloodsport (1988) Road House (1989) Lethal Weapon (1987) Cobra (1986) Runaway Train (1985) Escape from New York (1981) They Live (1988) Midnight Run (1988)

Theoshin

Jean-Claude really only has 2 movies i remember being good. Blood sport and Kickboxer

Elvenwitch

Please watch the Crank movies!

Einherj

These are the two I remember being good too. I also liked Universal Soldier when I was younger, but it might not hold up today. JCVD was also good, and the more you know about Van Damme and his career the more you enjoy it.

Einherj

I would not classify Escape From New York as an action movie. There's like one action scene :D

Einherj

Last Action Hero (1993) is a fun Arnie movie.

Malazan Sapper

Van Damme's best are 'Universal Soldier' and 'Hard Target'

"Bloodsport" (partially filmed in Kowloon City :-) is THE essential 80s martial arts movie for me! Jeez I was scared of Bolo Yeung! It's the only JCVD movie that I love! And the soundtrack is great... "Hard Target" is also fun though, but mainly because of John Woo's direction and Lance Henriksen. I feel Van Damme never really contributed to "his" films the way Stallone, Willis or Schwarzenegger did. He just isn't very enigmatic. Very good at martial arts but ... well.... that's pretty much it. Chuck Norris is even worse in that regard. They are very much "of their time". But yeah, "CRANK" (1 and 2) are OUTRAGEOUSLY fun! Crazy fast paced, delightfully dumb, freakishly violent and the overall style is just bonkers!! I like the second one even better than the first...

Mike Adams

Loved this movie as a kid, and having my name in the credits just made it more awesome.

olly.enn

Yep. That's why helicopters can be dangerous when rescuing people at sea. They can push people underwater....

James Hadden

That was so much fun. I’ve seen a few Jason Statham movies, Crank was fun, but I think The Transporter ones are my favourites. I feel like you always know what you’re gonna get with Statham, and as that’s something I enjoy I’m all for it

Michael Lynch

Come on George. Your reaction to Arnold carrying that log on his shoulder in the beginning. You really don't think a guy that could bench 500 lbs can carry a log that's maybe a couple hundred pounds?

Monica Alarcon

This was soooo fun! I DIED at "well, he's not going commando everybody"

Spooky Dooky

omg you did Commado! Amazing!

Erwin Quiachon

Call me crazy, but the log at the beginning of the movie appeared to be some type of erotic metaphor.

Alec S

JCVD Tiny shirt dance was from Kickboxer.

David Crabtree

You guys have got to watch 1993's Last Action Hero with Arnold, it's a one of those films that was ahead of its time. For Van Damm, watch Blood Sport and Universal Soldier. You should check out Die Hard 2 with Bruce Willis.

David Crabtree

I hope you guys get to Rocky 2 in the near future!

JKP1138

"The Transporter" is a must watch Jason Statham film (And Transporter 2 is even better) Love the idea of checking out more action films and working up to "The Expendables"!

JarHead0351

Here a few good movies I think you might like 1) Judge Dredd - Sylvester Stallone 2)Under Siege - Steven Seagal 3)The Crow – Bradon Lee 4)The Warriors 5)Mr. & Mrs. Smith – Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie & Vince Vaughn

MacGuffinStuff

Said it before and I'll say it again, this movie is the epitome of the 80s action movie, there's even a dig at Stallone and Rambo, when Matrix says he eats Green Berets for breakfast, and they even sort of snuck in a sex scene with that couple in the motel making their own sex scene (if you noticed, they had a camera on a tripod set up lol). Fun fact from my life, I almost ran into, literally, the guy who plays Sully (David Patrick Kelly, character actor famous as the "Warriors, come out to play-ay" guy from the film The Warriors, and as a villain or basic scumbag in The Crow, 48 Hours, Dreamscape, Flirting With Disaster), in NYC, I was walking near Times Square and not paying attention for a second and he stopped about 3 feet in front of me, looked up, and then I guess realized he missed his turn, he was in his thoughts just like I was at the moment and he doubled back and turned down the street he just passed, street where the Comedy Cellar is. It was a weird moment because I don't think he even realized we almost ran right into each other, just that he missed his street, and I'm like "That's fuckin T-Bird from the Crow", I wanted to say something but I couldn't remember his name, I wouldn't want to bother a celebrity but I figure character actors probably actually like being recognized in public, maybe.

Jack Urmson

Haven’t seen this in quite a while. So much fun! 🤩 🍿 A few more action movies to check out: Beverly Hills Cop (Eddie Murphy) 48 Hrs (Eddie Murphy) Red Heat (Arnold) The Running Man (Arnold) Tango & Cash (Stallone & Kurt Russell) Above the Law (Steven Seagal) Double Impact (Van Damme) Bloodsport (Van Damme) Lethal Weapon 1 & 2 (Mel Gibson) The Road Warrior(Mel Gibson) Top Gun (Tom Cruise) Shoot to Kill (Tom Berenger) The Rock (Nicholas Cage & Sean Connery) Face Off (Nicholas Cage & John Travolta) ..and parodies of action Hot Shots (Charlie Sheen) Last Action Hero (Arnold)

Githerax

You said 'Judge Dredd' - Stallone but you actually meant 'Dredd' - Karl Urban because it's way way better.

Torsten Maekler

James Horner - pretty famous musician. Wrote the scores for several big movies (many of the James Cameron ones). Sadly died in 2015 at only 61 years of age... . Some of his famous scores are: - Titanic - Avatar - Aliens - Apollo 13

Marko T.

Great reaction. This movie is so much fun. Interesting thing is that the fictional country Val Verde has appeared in other movies too. Predator takes places there and its mentioned in Die Hard 2. They are not connected storywise but they used the name for some reason.

Zeke

Arnold in Red Sonja please.

Torsten Maekler

I wonder if Schwarzenegger would be happy seeing Simone wearing a Stallone shirt for watching a Schwarzenegger movie ;-)

Torsten Maekler

Do you have "The Karate Kid" (1984) already on your 80th Action Movies List?

Andrew

A Simple Plan (1998) is a really good Bill Paxton movie,Billy Bob Thornton also stars

Chase Lonnergan

Commando is not the BEST Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. But it is the most Arnold Schwarzenegger movie!

Travis Starnes

For your request for must see great old action movies/stars. While I don't recommend watching all, or even most, of Steven Segal's train wreck of a career, Under Siege is amazing in it's cheesy action goodness and is a must see.
