If you want a superhero action movie, watch the Nolan movies, if you want a more grounded and grim crime Batman movie, this one is perfect for it.

Speaking of Chernobyl, the Police Commissioner from the beginning was the guy who played the leader of the miners. This has to be one of my favorite Batman stories and shows Batman as the detective that seemed to be missing from the other live action movies. I also like how it really felt that Batman is still learning, he still gets his butt beat, can't outsmart all of the villains, and how to blend Bruce Wayne into the mix properly. Yeah, Colin Farrell was amazing as the Penguin and if I didn't know it was him playing him, I would have never been able to guess.

this is late but on the topic of Alfred being evil, the comic Absolute Batman just came out where Alfred is the villain and normal villains are Bruce's friends. And batman isn't rich but joker is its's sick.

the last second of the movie it flashed a url and it was rattaladda or smthing and if u went to it you would see case files and sht that had to do with riddler and the gotham world

Can't wait to watch this. I think this is one of the best Batman movies. Pattinson is very good in the role. I hope you react to Batman (1989) and Batman Returns too.

*Spoilers for anyone waiting to watch* Wow, this was bad. the useless slow-mo down the hallway at the beginning, then an officer questioning the detective, wtf? Pacing is for a point, to lead to action, not batman standing, then pacing around the room, then standing, then pacing some more, then establishing for the what, third time that nobody likes Batman *although the detective uses a bat signal even though the Commissioner doesn't like it* what? If the Commissioner dislikes the Batman he'd order Jim to shut off the beacon. I gave up. I'll watch the Youtube version, sorry George and Simone. This one is going to deserve a CineCringe someday. Edit: Also lol sadly, Batman reviews footage of the crime scene and *fast fowards* through it. Wish the director did the same. Edit: Reads 'rat with wings', thinks it means stool pigeon and doesn't immediately realize it means bat. Wince. Solves every other riddle instantly, doesn't get this one. What? You don't make villians smart by making heroes dumb, that's lazy writing. Simone: Nice thought, the classical music connected to Bruce being at an opera. But they used Shubert's Ave Maria, not from an opera. Could've used Verdi's version, sung during 'Otello' and that'd be a fit. I don't think anyone making this movie thought as deeply about this movie as you have.

You might want to watch the Joker's deleted scene, also the actor is well known but they deleted the other scene as it didnt sync properly with the storyline they were using...also they could change his makeup if he shows up on the next movie

The “Good Times” sign at the beginning has to be intentional, I read somewhere Matt Reeves committed to this after seeing Pattinson in “Good Time,” and I think that and the drophead’s red outfit is a nod to Rob’s character from that movie. Y’all should check it out if you haven’t, even just like in your spare time, it’s one of my favs

Please react to the Gotham tv series, it ran for 5 seasons and it's about Bruce Wayne as a child before he became Batman, the show also creates their own origin stories for Batman's enemies like the Joker, Scarecrow, Bane, Riddler, etc. It was a fantastic show and if you loved this movie you'll love this show. It's very much in the same vein as in it's a realistic approach to Batman and his enemies.

Great movie, definitely doesn't feel like a batman movie at all but I really enjoyed it and commend reaves and the writers on making their own batman special.

I've been a fan of all the DC characters as a kid, but I fucking loved Batman. (Him, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern were my favorites). This movie is what I've been waiting for in the Batman universe and that's a full movie where he is the detective! A lot of my favorite Batman stories involve him doing detective work the whole time and I've been wanting a Batman film to reflect that aspect of him more, and this is it for me! My only complaint is that there is another version of Joker in this and to be honest I can care less. Even though we've gotten a ton of Batman movies we've barely scratched the surface of the Batman rogues gallery. If they make another one I'd really love it to focus on a villain we haven't seen a ton of. Maybe a whole movie focused on Two-Face, which is my favorite Batman villain personally. Or a less goofy version of Mr. Freeze.

Overall i liked the movie, but the fight scenes with the guns where...not to my liking. He used brute force to defeat enemies who had guns. I wish he used more tools, the shadow, smoke and other stuff.

After the credits when the message "Good Bye" flickers and disappears, you can see a website address in the distortion. www.rataalada.com which is the same site from the movie when they were questioning the penguin iirc. After some searching it seems you used to be able to go there and it would present riddles to solve for access to video clips and other stuff. Now when you visit it just states that the domain has been seized by the Gotham police.
