Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me - Patreon Version

Comments

Alex Remore

I always believed it was making fun of the James Bond cliché of replacing Bond girl every film imo

Astraeos

IDK why ya'll never watched Goldmember. So hilarious. Missing out on a great end to the trilogy.

Githerax

"What is [Austin's mojo]?" Sorry, George, but if you have to ask.... Also, if you'd've watched some of the old Bond movies I recommended I complain passive-aggressively, a lot of the jokes would be enriched I condescendingly point out. For example, 'Goldfinger' (1964) has a character named 'Pussy Galore'. And 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (1969) would explain the Liz Hurley thing. Also, how do I explain to George that due to Patreon chat policies I'm forced to type my inner monologue?

Ben A.M.

"Yes we, knew all along sadly" is one of my favorite nonchalant line deliveries ever. It implies so many stupid things. lol

Githerax

Also, Simone, re: a Cinebinge song- I was dabbling with that idea. I wanted to make a supercut of all your intros and put it over some EDM. I was hoping it'd be as easy as video editing (which any monkey can do) but I don't have one drop of musical mojo, so it isn't working out.

Torsten Maekler

Excuse me, Sir? Any monkey can do editing??? Don't let that hear the big masters, or they'll kick your bottom part ;-)

Sean

I'm sure many have already said but the change from Vanessa is a Bond thing. A new woman for Bond for every movie. I don't know if it would have been funnier to pretend she didn't exist from the first film.

Rob Parry

2 references to movies in this one Jerry Maguire from 1996 and The Exorcist from 1973. Very different both worth checking out.

Githerax

RE: Best spoof movies, you've already watched several of the best: 'Hot Fuzz', 'Shaun of the Dead', 'Naked Gun', 'Airplane!', 'Cabin in the Woods', 'Spaceballs', 'Kung Fu Hustle'-- actually, do you watch anything else other than spoofs? But what you may not have watched is: - 'What We Do in the Shadows' (2014) vampire spoof - 'Galaxy Quest' (1999) Star Trek spoof, you wouldn't understand George - 'Tucker and Dale vs Evil' (2011) another horror spoof - 'Mystery Men' (1999) superhero spoof - 'Tropic Thunder' (2008) which I also listed under must-watch Tom Cruise appearances so get to it already - 'UHF' (1989) Ooooh out of the blue comes a UHF recommendation! NOBODY SAW THAT COMING. But the Weird Al movie is coming out soon so why not prep for it?

Sean

Had a thought about a spoof film recommendation. Would Clue be considered a spoof film? Its a film using the ideas from the board game, murder mystery and making it funny. The games itself isn't comedic.

MatthewBrown74m

Scary movie Young frankenstein Blazing saddles Hell even gremlins 2 is kinda a spoof film lol

Emptysea93

I would say it is, Clue is not just a spoof of the board game but of whodunit mysteries altogether, particularly "10 little Indians", itself also about a group of strangers invited to a mansion and a murder involving their secrets.

Jack Burton

I've watched a bunch of reactions now with you guys. Movies, full-length, entire series, etc... and you guys keep talking about sounds outside your houses/apartments. I don't think I've ever heard something once from construction, or whatever, the entire time I've been watching along with you guys. So my point is that I think you worry about it too much. Your microphones are fantastic and do a good job of not picking up outside noises, imo. Just so you don't have to be neurotic about it. So stop worrying so much. :)

Definitely Hot Shots

REDR58

It really does help to have seen the Connery and Moore Bond films to fully appreciate Austin Powers.

MacGuffinStuff

Well one reference was the baby back ribs song from a Chili's commercial, and yes Simone, that's the same Chili's restaurant chain that Pam Beasley of PB & J fame was banned from. Also, spoof movies? I'm thinking of a few that maybe haven't been suggested yet, plus two that someone has, Galaxy Quest and Clue, which is itself kind of a murder mystery spoof of another spoof, Murder By Death. A Few of my favorite spoofs are: This Is Spinal Tap, Kentucky Fried Movie, Wet Hot American Summer, The Man With Two Brains, Three Amigos, The Burbs, This Is The End, of a list off the top of my head...

Spooky Dooky

Perfect! Now for this "Parody" George has to watch Star Trek ( I don't care which series) so you guys can watch Galaxy Quest! (One of the greatest movies to react to!)

overdev

yeah the homor is pretty 'dumb' but has also some pretty genius elements to it IMO^^

Bill Profet

When Dr. Evil talks about naming his moon stations "from moon unit alpha to moon unit zappa", Moon Unit Zappa is actually musician Frank Zappas' daughters name. They did the song "Valley Girls" together.

TheSentry77

As Canadians, you may recognize that voice actor in the opening crawl as Tony Jay, who also voiced Megabyte in the animated series Reboot ;)

SavageDiplomat

You should watch Bedazzled with Brendan Frasier and Liz Hurley. Its another awesome spoof movie.

Marko T.

Great reaction. I haven't seen this in years. I hope you watch the third movie too. Don't look up the cast before watching it. There are suprises.

Atnor Morda

That's one of my favorite underrated movies. There are plenty of funny movies in the world, and then there are some movies and some scenes that just hit you and inexplicably make you giggle uncontrollably. It's a weird phenomena, and it's different for everyone. For me, that short list includes most of this movie and the dodge a wrench scene in Dodgeball. :)

Odd Thomas

Re: why Liz Hurley was replaced by Heather Graham. I think it was due to her shooting Bedazzled around that time and not being available much, plus the James Bond tendency to have a new girl for each film
