Remember, George, when I said that someday you will go too far with the thumbnails? I lied. You can never go too far. Keep going further. Masterful.

I’ll copy my comment from YouTube about the homework you gave us: Spoof movies: Wrongfully Accused (spoofing The Fugitive that you just saw) Hot Shots (spoofing Top Gun that you just saw) Hot Shots Part Deux (Spoofing the Rambo Series) Not Another Teen Movie (spoofing American Pie, Cruel Intentions, she’s all that and a bunch of Teen movies but it stands ok on its own as long as you’re familiar with the teen movie genre and tropes) Not really a spoof movie, but an underrated comedy: Eurotrip (might have a bit too much nudity for YouTube, but the theatrical version could be adequate)

If you haven't seen it already, the scene of the basketball bounced off of Rob Lowe's head to get him crying is from Great Santini. Great Santini will never win any polls. It's based on the life of writer Pat Conroy when he beat his Marine father in basketball. Robert Duvall (Tom Hagen) received a lot of acclaim for his portrayal of the father. Here's the link to the iconic scene... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxDtKTClKGI

The loss of Vanessa and the introduction of Felicity is absolutely a joke on Bond movies, throughout most Bond movies, particularly the older Bond movies, Bond usually ends up with the movie bond girl, but by the next movie the character is either written out as having died or is simply never mentioned again. By having Vanessa retconned into a femmebot and replacing her with Felicity almost immediately is just the Austin Powers homage to Bond movies.

Also if you want one of the greatest and most well written spoofs of all time, I highly recommend the movie "Clue" from 1985

One spoof movie which also is done in the style of Airplane! or Naked Gun I like a lot is Top Secret. It’s supposed to be a spoof of classic movies where a civilian gets caught up in a political revolution, but it also spoofs a lot of other things like Blue Lagoon, surf movies, Wizard of Oz, and a few others. It features Val Kilmer as the lead, and he’s never been funnier. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is another funny Kilmer movie, but that’s not a spoof. It’s more a homage to the Lethal Weapon/Last Boy Scout buddy action film that Shane Black writes so well. Except Kiss Kiss features more comedy.

Oh, and also, don't overthink the title: 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977) w/ Roger Moore as James Bond. That's all. Also, Simone: "I can't believe they got Tim Robbins to play..." Welp. Wait 'til Austin Powers 3. You will *not* believe what happens at the beginning.

Middy

The title is really just a play on the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me" and an allusion to the fact Austin does a lot of shagging. Although Bond references are one of the major themes to these movies (Dr. Evil = Blofeld, Frau Farbissina = Rosa Klebb, the entire space station act being lifted from Moonraker), I don't really think watching them is essential for your enjoyment. If you were going to watch Bond I'd suggest starting with more recent movies and just going back until they get so dated you can't take any more.

I must disagree a bit. "From Russia with Love", the second one in the franchise, is one of the best even if it has its horribly aged bits. And many still consider "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" the best movie of the franchise.

fun fact. In 1999 Star Wars episode 1 came out the month or 2 before this one and this movie was the 1st movie to knock star wars out of the number one spot at the box office. this movie also had a very clever trailer preview. it's funny because the new stars movie came out that year and so much excitement over it that movie ended up being just OK. kinda Meh. in my opinion. LOL

Hot Shots and Top Secret are the stand out parody movies.

You HAVE TO finish the trilogy now. Great stuff. Yeah baby!

"You can start by buying me a drink" WAS answering his question.

I think if you start a series of films you should watch them all, like you did Harry Potter
