Yes, go down the line. Pretty much every single Coen brothers movie is brilliant. Please let me know if there's a way I can give you both more money to make this happen.

Hexon66

Even funnier was watching along with the French version, which had an abundance of "Ouais!" (sounding like "wayyy!") instead of the "Yah!"s.

Githerax

Ok, you're going to watch 'No Country for Old Men' and 'O Brother, Where Art Thou' because they're popular. You might also watch 'True Grit' and 'Raising Arizona' someday. But what I fear we'll never see is 'Hudsucker Proxy' Hudsucker is not what I'd call a 'dark' comedy, but it's great. Take my very special always-right word for it, you'll love it. Also, George, you may have seen Margie's husband Norm in 'American Horror Story'? Benjamin Richter/Mr. Jingles. Also also; Frances won the Oscar for 'Best Actress'. She's amazing. Also loved her in 'Three Billboards', and I've heard great things about 'Nomadland'.

Michael Lynch

Did you guys really do Rambo 2 and not record it?

TuvixLogic

Out of force of habit I gotta comment. Really enjoyed your reaction and Simone can you please do skincare/makeup tutorial you have such a glow.

Githerax

Also, yay, I get to explain a joke! I love doing this because it makes everything better: George, didja hear about the guy who couldn't afford custom plates on his car, so he changed his name to 'J3L2404'? See, his name was, say, 'George', but he couldn't afford 'GEORGESBMW'. Custom plates may cost over $100, so he took the plates the state issued to him; J3L2404. Then he went to the Social Security Administration and had them change his name to J3L2404. So now his plate is his name! A 'custom' plate! Haha! This has been "explaining jokes" by Githerax. Stay tuned for "what's blue and smells like red paint?" coming soon.

I agree with Simone...Lundegaard is the worst guy....the other guys, the killers, are the scum they are...but Jerry is worse...he is a hypocrite. Think of what he did to his son Scotty. Scotty lost his mom, his grampa and his dad...to prison. And even though it's not really based on a true story, there are weirder cases out there. Geoirge is right though, a lot of murders are actually so mundane..and done for something so trivial like as Marge put it "for just a little bit of money".

Jim Johnson

Loved the reaction to one of my favorite films! You guys need to do the TV show sometime. It does a great job of capturing the spirit of the movie with new stories, especially season 1.

Charlie Keeler

Not a true story. Also a Coen run is a must….and the tv series is also very good

Lock_Down

Hey Cinebinge. A poll for psychological Thrillers/thrillers pls 🙏 1. Predestination 2. Triangle 3. Devil 4. Saw (just the first one) 5. Signs 6. Happening 7. Circle 8. Psycho 9. Rear window Etc

Anthony Perez

No one pointed out that the "Woodchipper" guy was the Porn star in Lebowski.

Rob Parry

3 more Coen Brothers movies to recommend. Rasing Arizona and O Brother Where Art Thou ? are more along the lines of The Big Lebowski. as comedy-dramas. No Country for Old Men is brilliant dark crime thriller based on the Cormac McCarthy novel.

tristan renaut

Now time for No Country for Old Men !

Martin Åhlenius

The TV-series is also really really good. It's not by the Coen brothers, but it follows in the same style. Highly recommended.

GBmain

It is fantastic... better than the movie I would say... has to go on the poll

Vidal (BillyG!) Gomez jr

My favorite Cohn brothers' movie is "Miller's Crossing" (1990). Thanks guys, I appreciate your content!

Tall Paul

Off topic slightly, but my version on Amazon Prime is playing a bit faster than the Cinebinge version. It is a bit annoying having to resync every scene. Can anybody help?

TuvixLogic

what I do is pause one or the other and match up on the bottom of the screen. I recheck several times a movie and just check the bottom of the screen where the movie is visible.

Funny sidenote: YT does autogenerate subtitles. For whatever reason the AI routine behind that does recognize the ever so slight original audio from the film which can be heard in your video (if you don't run the film besides it). So like 50% of the film audio is therefore available as subtitles in your video. I was running the film alongside and was wondering how YT could put the subtitle from the film from the other browser window in realtime under your video, until I recognized how dumb that idea was and checked your videos audio - and there it was. It is astonishing what AI routines can recognize... .

Torsten Maekler

I was so waiting for Simone when George announces the Patreons not to say her usual 'Hui' but instead 'Yeah', 'Yeah', 'Yeah'... .

Carlos Hurtado

Marge and Norm are my favorite movie couples. they are adorable.

Dor

1. You should definitely do a Coen bros run. 2. It isn't the Coens, but if you're looking for dark comedy "In Bruges" is the best very-dark comedy I can recommend. It went a little under the radar when it came out, but *everyone* who sees it loves it in my experience. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780536/

Githerax

Maybe it was generating subtitles by *reading your mind* while you listened to the other window.

wroot

Busceme's character was so damn cheap. 4 dollars on the parking lot. Having 960k and not wanting to split a car.

wroot

I read somewhere that "Yaah" comes from predominantly German/Swedish colonists in that part of US. No matter how many times i see this movie, it is always funny. Especially interview with those motel girls :) "Go Bears!' :D

Torsten Maekler

Don't know if it comes from that descent, but it's possible. We say "Ja" in Germany... so highly possible... and it sounds like that "Yaah" - only we have the 'A' not so far back in the throat.

Githerax

Oh, just remembered another verrrrry dry "black comedy" - 'Art of Self-Defense' (2019)

SimianSupreme

For dark comedies, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". Robert Downey Jr, Val Kilmer, Michelle Monaghan. Directed by Shane Black. So good. Think absurd noir mystery ... thing.

Chris Gronau

This is the movie that convinced Marvel that Robert Downey Jr. could play the role of Tony Stark in the first Iron Man movie. Before that, they tried to get Hugh Jackman and Tom Cruise for the role. So, without this movie, the MCU wouldn't exist (or would be very different...). On top of that, it's a great movie.....

Prof. Writhms

One of the best dark comedies ever made is "Snatch" (2000) Brad Pitt Benicio del Toro

PickettsChargingPort

So happy you guys are watching this (ok, wrong tense... watchED this).

MacGuffinStuff

Nope, not a true story, apparently that's called a "narrative device", irritated me at first but between the film and the series, the stories are just so damn good I go with it, could easily be true for the simple fact that truth is often stranger than fiction. Cannot recommend more Coens enough, including the Fargo series, which they were producers on, the first season is awesome, the second season is even better in my opinion, one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. Third and fourth seasons don't quite measure up to the first two but still worth a watch I think. Can't say I recommend Fargo the city as much lol, been there a few times back when I was a truck driver, pretty boring and very damn cold in the winter, but then again you guys are Canadian and I'm Californian so what do I know about the cold? As far as recommendations for dark comedies, the Coens have several, but some of my favorites NOT from them would include, "The War of the Roses", "Very Bad Things", "Death at a Funeral" (either version but I prefer the original British version), "Trainspotting", "In Bruges", "Heathers", "Don't Look Up", "The Burbs" and "Joe Vs The Volcano" (both Tom Hanks movies btw).

Erich Bomke

I remember watching this movie with my girlfriend and her dad when I was in highschool and thinking it was the most boring film I had ever seen. Fast forward to 25 years old, no longer an idiot, rewatching Coen brothers movies and realizing it was a masterpiece. Stupid 17 year old Erich! What an IDIOT!

Ricardo Alanis

The Fargo TV show is excellent especially the first season. They are individual stories per season. Highly recommend it.

Anthony Perez

The shot of Lundgaard after the office meeting with father-in-law is a parking lot attached to an office building. QUESTION...why did Lungaard open his car trunk after he found his father-in-laws body ? Did he put the body iin trunk and why ?

Sisyphus

I really enjoyed the reaction, thanks. Being from Minnesota, I get a lot of questions about Cinebinge. I always just say "ya, the small one is kinda funny lookin', more than most people even. The other one looks like a nice enough guy but is really kinda funny lookin', in a sort of a general way"

Vegard

Jumping on the bandwagon here to recommend No Country for Old Men. The best Coen Brothers movie imo, and one of my favorite movies

Eleven

i second the Hud. Tim Robbins (Andy Dufresne from Shawshank) is in it, and i THINK but maybe, the warden is too? i might be wrong on that one... but it's BEAUTIFUL stylistically, i think you'd really enjoy it! for the kids!

Andrew Roach

Indeed the Best Picture winner No Country for Old Men is a must watch and features one of the greatest screen villains of all time.

Andrew T

I've never seen a reacter so hyper-focused on the workings of a wood chipper.

DanButterman

Burn After Reading is another dark comedy by the Coens that's worth checking out

Githerax

George develops AI. What kind of AI, you ask? Listen to him carefully, curious about every aspect of wood chipper mechanics. Hmmm.

JoeySnowyNoey

I would love for you guys to watch True Grit by the Coens! Also, a great dark comedy for you guys to watch would be World's Greatest Dad starring Robin Williams.

Ben

I second both of those! Regarding True Grit, I'm disappointed they didn't continue the playthrough of Red Dead Redemption, but watching a movie like True Grit may scratch that itch!

Ben

I'm not sure if it's been suggested yet, but for a great Coen Brothers movie, you should really watch 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?'. Even for the soundtrack alone it's a great film.

Ben

I second 'In Bruges', absolutely incredible film.

Baldielox

Possibly the best Coen Bros films is 'No Country for Old Men'. Not funny at all, but definitely the Coen's at the top of the game. Dark and very intense. One of the greatest villains in movie history.. 'O Brother Where Art Thou' is a great film to just sit back and let happen. Funny with great acting by all the unique/quirky characters.

Michael

Raising Arizona is my fav Coen brothers movie.

Lana Gorgeous

Canadians talk funny too I'm sure, so glad you guys don't watch movies about the south sure you'd laugh your asses off.. you guys just didn't get the romance of the romance of the couple.

braaap

you guys seemed to really like the coen brothers stuff; perhaps consider trying the fargo tv series at some point? it's really good, the first season in particular i would say is even better than the movie.
