Truman Show - gets (Oscar) nominated for best director and another nomination best screenplay, and Ed Harris gets nominated for best supporting actor - now I love Ed Harris (hope some day you guys do the Westworld thing), but he's only in the movie for like 10 minutes - then Carrey gets nothing but won the golden globe for best actor. Now call me a cynic but when people say that the Academy is out of touch today I say look back a few years; they couldn't even bring themselves to nominate Carrey because he was a mostly comedic actor at the time - now _that_ is out of touch.

Logan Kerlee

I enjoyed all of these movies! xD I don't know which one(s) to vote for. He had a such a talent for playing a great leading role. His comedy was always funny. Some of the movies have aged better than others, but they're still great. I'll have to come back later and update be vote.

Mr. Writhms

Its not in the poll but... I favor the dark Carrey comedy "The Cable Guy" (1996). I always said it felt like,"What if Alfred Hitchcock made a comedy?" It wasn't the typical zany light-hearted Jim people were expecting when it released. He played a real creepy/funny character.

wroot

Not a comedy, but "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is my favorite performance from him.

Marko T.

The Mask and Liar Liar are great.

Tara M. Wilcoxon

"Bruce Almighty" is one of my favorites. Have a great week, everyone!

Rory cornetto

I’m not a fan of carrey’s bombast , his only movie I’ve loved is Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind.. though the role is much subdued.. I should probably watch man in the moon one of these days

Rasmus Kristensen

Man On the Moon is missing. Its a top 3 Carry performance.

Githerax

No 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'? What. I have an idea: Patrons, if you 'like' this comment, let's count it as a vote for Eternal Sunshine. See if we can beat the poll here.

JayF

We need to find a way to get you two more publicity. There's no way this channel should still be under 100k subscribers on YT. Get the word out, everyone.

Bent

All the above please and thank you 🤣

Brandi Davis

Um you must watch all of these lol

michael mccafferty

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's not a screwball comedy, it is a gut-wrenching, romantic, science fiction story co-starring Kate Winslet, and it might be the best acting Jim Carrey has done in his entire career. I'm a huge fan of Carrey's attempts at serious acting (this movie, The Truman Show, The Majestic, etc) and will pick those over his "broad" comedies every time.

Rudy Hernandez

After watching crazy, hilarious Jim Carrey, go watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Serious, emotional Jim Carrey & Kate Winslet. One of the coolest, unique, heartfelt movies I’ve ever seen.

Eddie Gomez

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the best JC movie

Jason Nunez

Definitely should star with the 90s comedy then move to his more serious and newer stuff

Andy Frost

Definitely not a reaction I'll watch, just not my kind of movie that JC does. Have you considered doing an apocalyptic movie poll? Not sure what you have or haven't watched but there's a decent list of possible choices. In no particular order: Day after Tomorrow Armageddon Edge of Tomorrow (maybe) Deep Impact Oblivion This is the End There are many more to choice from. Thanks - Andy.

Simon Clifton

If you’re doing Apocalyptic movies, you HAVE to include Threads. Never seen a reaction to it and boy, it’s dark.

YYZHawk

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind pleeaaassseee!!! Carrey's best role by far

mojo shivers

Yet another vote for Eternal Sunshine. By far his best work.

Gryff

Voted for all of them, because you should watch all of them. I will pay you. We will all pay you.

Ian Forbes

Maybe they already saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? It’s the best of Carrey’s in my opinion.

POSTALMNDCLARITY

How is the Truman show beating Ace Ventura!?!? So disappointing.

Tyler Foster

Definitely echoing Eternal Sunshine and The Cable Guy. Would also add Man on the Moon and I Love You Phillip Morris to this list of "unconventional" Carrey comedies that you could do on a later poll (which is where Truman Show would've fit in a little better). You could've had Yes Man swapped in for it on this poll. Personally, I think you should avoid Ace Ventura like the plague -- I liked it when I was a teenager but it's got to be one of the gold standards for comedies that have not aged well, and not in a way that is particularly extricable from the movie, because the reasons it has aged poorly are central to the plot.

AstralCars

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, please!

dieselbeast

The Truman show should not be winning, y'all people don't wanna laugh?! Come on! Sigh welp hopefully you'll get to a couple of Jim's comedy's sometime this year 🤷

TGrimace

Truman Show is the best of all of these

Drew Acheson

Yes Man should be included here, IMO

Brian Hakala

Such an amazing actor. One of the rare ones that can do both slapstick comedy and drama equally well. No matter what you won’t be disappointed with Jim!

Torsten Maekler

Wow. I think you can close the poll early. Haven't seen that high numbers in your polls so quickly ever before...

PG Modehouse

Damn, Jim Carrey was CRUSHING it in 94

Marko T.

Have you seen Star Wars Episodes 7-9?

Josh B.

You should add the Sonic movies Jim is great in them

Nylwell

I'd love to see you guys react to Sling Blade. Awesome movie that I think you two would like.

TGrimace

Have you seen the Jim Carrey movie "Number 23"? Dark and weird. Definitely not one of his better known movies.

JarHead0351

Jim Carrey -- Earth Girls Are Easy & The Majestic

Chad L.

Yes Man, my favorite Jim Carrey movie period.

Ben

I'm going to keep voting for Dumb & Dumber until you watch it! Truman Show is great but I've seen so many reactors watch it, not as many have watched Dumb & Dumber. Ace Ventura is pretty good but it doesn't make me laugh as much as it did when I was a kid. Dumb & Dumber still makes me laugh, hard! even if it is ... dumb!

Mike Miner

When Simone sang "Mockingbird" on their Austin Powers intro, I was 100% sure she'd seen a certain movie on this list. Won't give it away, but she's going to die laughing when the moment eventually happens.

Githerax

Simone, I need you to explain something: Youtube rolled up your 'Casino Royale' reaction on autoplay, and I noticed you ask during the airport plane-bombing scene 'Do they really make planes that big, in real life?' Didn't you fly to China? I'd imagine that plane was pretty big...

Marko T.

I'm suprised Bruce Almighty is doing better than The Mask and Liar Liar. Its good but not better than those.

QuiGon_Jim (Howe)

Why is Me, Myself and Irene getting no love? I understand they're all great, but that film is amazing

E.P.B.F.

I get it's called Just Jim, but how could you not put "Earth Girls are Easy" on the poll. You could have a three-fer of a very young Jim Carey, Jeff Goldblum and Damon Wayans all in one movie. Wearing bright, primary color furry suits. Also Julie Brown singing the ultimate bimbo anthem.

Jay Davis

As good as Irene is, I know I voted based on what I felt the most important titles in his catalog to see were. There are just too many in front of Irene for it to make that cut I think.

Torsten Maekler

Want some more? Here comes: - Black Swan (Natalie Portman, 2010) - Bolt (John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Disney, 2008) - Carlito's Way (Al Pacino, Sean Penn, 1993) - Charlie Wilson's War (Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, 2007) - Good Night and Good Luck (George Clooney, David Strathairn, 2005) - Ice Age (2002) - La La Land (Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, 2016) - Reign of Fire (Christian Bale, 2002) - Syriana (George Clooney, Matt Damon, 2005) Here are also some smaller films: - Accident Man (Scott Adkins, Ray Park, 2018) # Low Budget Martial Arts about a killer who makes his jobs look like (surprise) accidents - Avengement (Scott Adkins, 2019) # Low Budget Fight Movie about revenge of someone who has been in prison for some time...

redddfer44

It's been said above but it bears repeating: if you want a fun, light-hearted comedy reaction, Ace Ventura is not the movie for it. Many comedies from around that era have poorly-aged elements but Ace has a lot of that material. There's a greater than average chance that it leads to a volatile comment section, no matter how you react.

david moreland

Loved Ace Ventura as a kid but it really has aged poorly.

Githerax

Why isn't 'Labyrinth' on this list? I guess Jim Henson doesn't count hmpf.

sawser

Heya! Can we donate to request a movie, and if so how? There's a movie that NO ONE has reacted to that's wonderful, and I'd like to get you guys to watch. Death to Smoochy - Starring Edward Norton and Robin Williams, with Danny Devito, Jon Stewart, and a whole bunch of other well known actors.

Githerax

1. The other patrons wouldn't necessarily be disappointed; they may be happily surprised at a good movie they never thought to vote for. Some patrons are indifferent to the poll winners sometimes anyway, like with this poll, some people saying they're disappointed Eternal Sunshine isn't here, not interested in The Truman Show, and others saying Ace Ventura hasn't aged well and they're uncomfortable with it. What's your Patreon-version view count vs the number of votes it gets on the poll anyway? Austin Powers II got 405 votes on poll, currently 186 Patreon watches. If people might not even be watching the movies they vote for, they won't mind skipping the occasional 'Patreon Commission Reaction: Manos, the Hands of Fate' popping up. 2. Offering a single 'commission' opportunity once a month, say, wouldn't disrupt the regularly polled and scheduled content at all and add only a few more hours of work. So offer the commission at a rate that is worthwhile to you and Simone for the invested time. If nobody has the means, no extra money earned, no harm done. 3. If you feel that 'equal share' is most important, fine. You could send a link to an unlisted commission in a direct message to the patron. Nobody would even be aware of it. You already do sponsorships, this would essentially no different. 'This video is brought to you by the generous donation of 'Stallone Shall Slyly Sell Three Seashells', thank you and we hated the movie!' Anyway, if you change your mind, I'm willing to hear the price.

William

Amy Adams should have won "Best Actress" at the Oscar's for her role in this film

dieselbeast

Truman show should not be winning honestly, from an entertainment aspect, it's nowhere near the highest grossing movies in theaters from jim carrey, must have alot of younger folks voting being "woke"

Rasgriz Rising

they get some hate but honestly think yes man and fun with dick and jane are 2 of his best

Ernie K

As an older (happens to everyone) patron, I'd like to suggest a category of classic film choices.

Ernie K

"Classic," referring to older films having current or simply inherently human themes everywhere on the continuum from drama to humor to horror. A few suggestions: "Dr Strangelove," "Fail Safe," "Casablanca," the originals of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Night of the Living Dead," "A Patch of Blue." Just IMHO the tip of the iceberg from someone who's a many-decades videophile.

Ernie K

"Twelve Angry Men" should have been very first on my list; timeless themes, impeccable and taught, a 100% fresh classic on Rotten Tomatoes for good reason. Glad you're on board with that theme. Hitchcock too: Notorious, Saboteur, and yes, Rear Window.

Ryan McKenna

Anyone else in this community interested in the nostalgic yet terrible classic, "Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon"?

Torsten Maekler

You guys should start watching Clay Animation movies. They are a lot of fun :-) - Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, 2005) - Flushed Away (Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, 2006) - Shaun the Sheep (2015) - Mary & Max (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Eric Bana, 2009)

Ernie K

Firefly - such an eclectic, very compelling show; best example of TV execs giving up too soon.

Rory cornetto

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is sublimely beautiful

Pajander

Hot take: Eternal Sunshine and Man on the Moon are the best Jim Carrey movies.

Torsten Maekler

Come on, guys. Just 11 more votes to crack 600...

Marko T.

The Mask needs more votes.

john paul

Next poll 1. Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World 2. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 3. Gattaca 4. Dunkirk 5. Hacksaw Ridge 6. Inside Out 7. Sicario 8. Drive (2011 movie)

Joe Paquet

I think stand by me and the deer hunter need to make an appearance as well.

buddha bling

I gotta say everyone of these movies is a total masterpiece

Brandon Meng

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is essential film viewing and it's not even on this list for Jim Carrey films when it's easily his best... ohh please please reconsider and add this to future polls. Especially for Simone to watch.
