Firefly Episode 6 & 7 - Patreon Version

Comments

The scent of film and TV is all over this RUM. Smells like freaking tee ah WANNA

🖤I like how I also googled euphemisms for "bonkjuice" like George did, because I'm 12, and the same list for me came up as the first result. Simone listing off "Baby Batter" as the first on the list confirmed it lolll. Also... the image at the top of the list to make her go "UHHHHHHHHHHHH....OHHHHHH NOOOOO" ... SAME LOL

Brandon Scott

I'm a pretty new patron...I'm not the only one who wants the sauce on that list....am I?.....Just me? ... 😅

Aaron Gunstone

I'd subscribe just to listen to you two giggle about jizz :D

Adam

I'm here for the discussing. Now I know what that song meant 🤣Baby batter🤣ball barf 😂 Chode nectar!🤣🤣 A very spunky intro.

Patrick

The term soccer was created in England first, before it was called football. Pretty sure that Victorian era story is a myth as well, I've heard it before.

Simon Peened Me

I love that after the seminal preamble, the first title card at the end of "Our Mrs. Reynolds" listed the producers, one of which was Brian Wankum.

Alan Kobb

Shepherd Book did point out that there is a SPECIAL HELL for people who talk at the theater. Doesn't this scare you a bit? After all, you've made a business out of talking at the theater... :-)

Amelie W

Funny story about the word "spooge," and I read this in a book written in 1994. It means "an inefficient method of software programming where you stuff in all the code you have without regard to formats, optimization or data bloat, typically resulting in slower and more buggy performance, i.e., 'Microsoft spooged the entire Office suite into Media Player and then it broke so completely they had to rebuild it from the previous version.'"

Dustin Duvall

The opening to this video is wild lol

Bekka NoyB

Christina Hendricks is absolutely gorgeous! ♥ Saffron is a great bad character!

Bekka NoyB

my dad used to live in town called Canton. Always find this episode a little extra funny. On one road trip me & mom sung hero of Canton to him :D

Marcus Hicks

So many names for semen, yet I didn't hear "cum" or "smeg" get mentioned 😛.

Onno Smits

Some of the best episodes right here, though my favourites are still to come!

Githerax

Wow, and got some free OnlyFans content at the beginning there. It's too early for that.

JLee

Why this preacher so preachy tho?

overdev

currently watching it also for the first time :)

Christoph Plank

Football (soccer, for the weirdos) was invented by Victorian era headmasters to stop boys from masturbating. A sport where you aren't allowed to use your hands lol.

DanVibes

I don't know if it was mentioned in one of the comments yet... Did you recognize the actor who plays Jayne (Adam Baldwin)? You/we saw him in Independence Day. He was the commanding officer in Area#51. He shot the coke can from the alien ship. Sooo, with Brent Spiner and Adam Baldwin in the same movie, one could say that Independence Day is a link between Firefly and Star Trek :)

Valyrian

I never imagined that “I don’t have any Pearl Jam t-shirts” but would make laugh that much!

Andrew T

One bit of clever writing in the Jaynestown episode that I haven’t seen mentioned yet: during the River/Preacher/Bible scene, River says of the Bible, “it doesn’t make sense,” to which the preacher responds, “it's not about making sense. It's about believing in something and letting that belief be real enough to change your life. It's about faith.” Later, when Mal and Jayne are talking, Mal says of the the townsfolk putting Jayne’s statue back up, “ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need,” to which Jayne responds with, “Don't make no sense.” I love the parallel between the two scenes there.

George Baxter

Kind of seems like you guys were projecting on the Preacher. He's a holy man and he witnessed these people killing! Then the leader of those killers got married to what he saw as an innocent woman. Give him a break!

Luis Torrefranca

"Please don't leave because we're disgusting." Hell, I just might increase my tier. (no, that wasn't a euphemism)

Vert

Episode 8 is by far my favorite episode. Literally zero fat on it and it is just very well done.

Torsten Maekler

George is probably not that deep into christian culture to see the preachers point of view. Add on top of that his Chinese upbringing where such a kind of preaching is seen as rude as hell, fully understandable why he can't catch onto the preachers viewpoint. Though they (S&G) are right: the role of the preacher isn't that detailed as are most of the others.

Torsten Maekler

Your intro is almost like you already knew what was coming... same vibes... did you watch "Arrival" before or after? Are you already in touch with the future? :-) I guess the creators expected to have more time to flesh out the characters and story arcs. Due to the cancellation halfway through the first season, some things won't be fleshed out as they should... . There will be some points though where the plot is connected closer to what has come before; but other than that the episodes stay being single story episodes.

wroot

So fitting that i was having my dinner while watching the intro :D

Richard B.

Ah yes Nocturnal Pollination the spell of choice for the demanding Succubus or Incubus. lol, never change you guys are great.

Torsten Maekler

Don't know if you two would watch something like "From the Earth to the Moon" - a 12 Episode Miniseries about the moon landing. Tom Hanks produced it after "Apollo 13". Its more a documentary, but very detailed and top quality entertainment. If that would be interesting to you, love if you would add it to the votes... PS: Adam Baldwin is in it also ;-)

Stretch

I find it so odd that you dont like Shepherd Book, he is one of my fav from firefly. Feel like you've misconstrued his actions early on in the series and allowed it to colour everything he does in your eyes.

Githerax

This would be cool, you know what, given that this is 'Patreon' content maybe views don't count as much, would George and Simone be willing to do documentaries? 'Planet Earth' and stuff?

no_gary_only_zuul

Best intro ever. Simone - I don't have any Pearl Jam t-shirts, Simone and George - laughing hysterically, me - I was led to believe the common item for that sort of thing was a sock :/ My whole life is a lie ...

Spooky Dooky

fkn great great reaction team!

Prophet2272

I am reminded of a time when the first COD Modern Warfare was out and I was introduced this show to me by a friend. And I named a sniper class in that "Vera" as a homage to the show. And when I watched this reaction it brought a smile to my face.

Eleven

Simone, your hair is getting so long! it looks great :) i'm really enjoying watching how S&G respond to a 20 year old show, and definitely interesting take on Book's character. i come from a Christian background, and even though i no longer am, I see that Book means well, but i can see how he can come off as heavy-handed, especially being aversive to Christianity now (me)

Jack Burton

I'm a 44 year old man in Texas. When I saw this post I did a little dance like I was 10. You dirty butt-counters got me excited. I'm embarrassed. (True Detective Reference for anyone confused about the butt thing)

Zerocyde

The worst thing about Cinebinge watching Firefly is the 6 days in between, lol.

Dark Light

Love their reactions, but Im a patreon for Firefly!

Panixs

Hi Cinebinge , loving the firefly content and subbed to Patreon for it. One thing I think you might be missing with Sheppard Book is that before and during the war, Mal was a believer. You can see this in the pilot with the words he uses to the troops, and he even kisses his cross. He claims he is secular and that he doesn't care about the Sheppard and his words, but is actually coming from it as someone who lost their faith and is antagonistic against it. That all adds some spicyness to his debates with Book that you might be picking up on.

Logan Kerlee

I enjoy the chit chat! :) You two are a lot of fun to watch, I like how well your compliment each other. Another two great episodes down. Looking forward to more!

Sean Novack

THat is absolutely what is going on here. That and it's obvious that there is antagonism towards Christianity in general that is causing the negative bias. It's one thing that really disappoints me with their reactions. George is old enough and smart enough that he should be able to move past that. I've considered dropping my sub here for that reason alone. Not that I'm heavy pro-religion of any kind, but people that are knee-jerk anti-anything irritate me to no end.

Rezblade

Simone oddly but cute how open you are about spunk 🤭 in your cute voice n giggles

Sean Novack

Everyone is different, but I join these channels to see reactions and analysis of things I enjoy, especially from those in different countries and from different generations. Random juvenile talk about bodily fluids isn't my thing and I sure didn't expect the 6 minutes of intro to have nothing to do with the source material and then have absolutely zero analysis at the end. Do better please.

Sean Novack

Book comes from a very violent and sordid past, and his found faith is what helps him deal with that. It's a completely different take.

Marko T.

Suggestion for the next poll: Obi-Wan Kenobi. The first two episodes were just released on Disney+.

Śéáń

Pearl Jam caught me completely off guard and it has ruined the name for me forever. Love it.

Michael Short

I think eventually they had planned to establish an overarching story, but it got cancelled so that went out the door.

Shibby

I see your other comment spoiling part of the Shepherd's past (even if you don't go into specifics, it's still too much info) so how about you do better yourself? Maybe grow a sense of humour while you're at it. I think you've missed out on something crucial, and that's that part of being a good reactor is having a personality and not just giving a robotic analysis ( as anyone could do that). So instead of being so condescending, try and remember that if you don't have anything nice to say, sometimes it better to just turn your computer off.

BlackOpsElf

Just in case you were wondering, that passage she quotes as biblical ain't real.

warcrimes

Jesus what a cringe intro

Mithroch

I know I'm late to the party, here... but I think your take on Book this episode is way off. Book knows Mal's character and that he wouldn't take advantage of this girl. It seemed obvious to me that he... like the rest of the crew... was taunting Mal. All of his warnings were very tongue and cheek. A "special Hell" for "those that talk in movie theaters." Speaking of which... I got to talk to Shepard Book (the late Ron Glass) in a movie theater. I got into a special screening of Serenity (the movie) in Indianapolis. Ron, being a native Hoosier himself, was a surprise guest.

Arek Schneyer

Jaynestown is perhaps my favorite episode of the series. It's bit more lighthearted in places, and focuses on actually my least favorite character of the crew, but it shows Jayne in such a new light, and the actor really pulls it off.
