I usually watch these when they come out on YouTube so I can like and occasionally comment on that side. Patreon is a good way to see what’s coming next. Would definitely recommend PREY if it isn’t in the works already.

Even many years later, I still remember the silenced pistol fight through the crowded subway station scene. But I agree this is certainly least memorable of the three movies, but I still like it a lot.

"During the John Wick: Chapter 2 panel at New York Comic-Con, it's revealed that the sequel takes place only four days after the first film" As per your question about the Weapon Sounds accuracy in the films... "For the most part very accurate, although a couple of the techniques that were used were strictly for showmanship. Keanu Reeves trained exclusively with Taran Butler, who is aworld famous competition shooter and firearms trainer. Keanu is a very proficient shooter in his own right, and learned all these techniques from Taran and his crew of professional shooters. A simple Google or YouTube search will yield several videos of his training and shooting prowness."

Love the first film but the sequels just became one endless fight sequence. By the third one I just got bored tbh

I think Winston was more driving home the point that even the High Table is bound by the rules, and if John had made no infraction to warrant revoking his membership, nobody could. Think of having a seat on the Table a bit like being a genie in Aladdin; you have incredible power at your fingertips but you are bound by the rules, probably even more so than those "below" the Table.

Kronenbourg Blanc - i like :)

After playing Last of Us Pt2 the John Wick films seem incredibly shallow to me. When is revenge unjustified? In the trilogy so far he's killed what 200 people?? I know that this is escapism but I just dont root for him anymore. Its not like he's going to save his wife, or the dog!! If John had a goal that helped literally anyone I'd be more sympathetic but it really feels like violence for the sake of violence

First of all, silencers don't exist, but suppressors do. The best description I've heard for non-weapon knowledgeable people for how suppressors work is basically: A suppressor is used so that when you fire a weapon indoors without hearing protection, the ringing in your ears will only last a couple of hours, as opposed to possible permanent hearing loss. So yeah, "silencers" as shown in this movie (and most movies, to be fair), are completely unrealistic.

Odd Thomas

Agreed. The first film makes sense re: revenge but is resolved at the end. The sequels aren't really justifiable. There is no more story, which is why I find 2 & 3 so empty.

In other words, when you see people acting like they died, it's a good reminder to know that they're simply pretending to sleep and that they're not actually dead! Really, it changed my whole view on movies after I learned that!

How accurate are the gun sounds? The issue you will always run into is even if they are leaving the gun sounds as is with no additions, microphones won't pick up the sonic boom or the over pressure. In short, with current technology, a filmed gun never sounds like one irl. There are other sounds, such as the chamber cycling or the buffer spring that you also notice aren't present in the full either.

Andrew

If you just want to watch a cool video, there is footage of Keanu Reeves training for John Wick. He did all of his own gunplay. Also shows a bunch of other stars training for shooting roles. The place is called Taran Tactical, and I think it's on their YouTube page.

Fishburne’s group is part of the same establishment as the rest; they know the $7mil contract and John paid them in coin. Fishburne might even be part of the High Table (his “ascension”). (Edit: my bad, he isn’t. See reply). The trouble isn’t that the High Table/Continental establishment will move in on NYC - obviously they’re already there - but the Santino’s mob specifically will take over Fishburne’s. Everyone is part of this criminal underworld, but that doesn’t mean they’re on the same side. Just look at Santino and his sister. No one’s moving in from outside, it’s internal power struggles - there really is no “outside” to move in from.

Chase Schleich

Fishburne is not part of the High Table, he's just the leader of that faction of assassins. It's kind of like the mob where there are different families each with a Godfather, but they are all ruled by one group at the very top who enforce the rules. The Continental is also ruled by the High Table, but the heads of each hotel are given a lot of power. Not unlimited power though. They still must follow the rules of the High Table. Winston wasn't scared of Santino's threats because he was a single High Table member. Santino would need to get a majority of the High Table to agree to remove Winston from his position and since Winston did nothing wrong, he knows that won't happen. Even members of the High Table must follow the rules.

Might want to add Constantine to your list
